What the Facebook App would look like with the Holo Theme - Android Apps and Games

Hi,
I wasn't very satisfied with the look of the original Facebook app for Android: mostly because it still doesn't follow the design guidelines of Android 4, even though ICS is already over a year old. So I decided to redesign the facebook app by myself and want now to share my results with you. You can find them in the attachments section (2 Versions, i couldn't decide with is better). Tell me what you think about it, I hope you like it
If you want this pictures in a higher quality or in the .xcf format let me know.
Download Link: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B7Xo_jDGP2MvYUxaVGpMRkR0ME0

actually ICS is not a year old yet. It was introduced in October 2011, and the Galaxy Nexus released in November 2011. Also I don't think it looks to good.

Interesting concept, I think I'd prefer an app similar to google+

Looks really good, man. I'm a huge fan of the minimal look. Any chance you could throw up a dl link in the open? I'm on the xda app right now but I'd love to try it out.

Can you please share the download link here? Can't find it with my phone.

I'm not sure if you got this but it's just a design concept, not an Facebook app, but yeah I can upload the gimp and the high resolution version .
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app

Sorry , my fault. Is there a possibility to put the Holotheme into the official Facebook App?
Sent from my LG-P700 using xda premium

I'm sure it's possible but you need a some serious skills if you want to change the complete layout of an app and unfortunately I'm not able to do it. But you could ask a developer if he could develop such app
P.S.: Download Links for High-Res Concept Images + gimp-Files will be up soon.
EDIT: Done. See first Post for files.

I found this thread via Google... I have designed (NOT written) a HOLO-themed Facebook app myself. It's just a concept, although if someone is interested in making this app I wouldn't mind him contact me
I'm sorry for the large image, but it's the only way one can see all the details (and I wouldn't know how to make a thumbnail... not at 1:42am anyways).

Now, that's what I call a awesome concept. If they did the app like that, I'd use it a lot more than I currently use.

Thank you! I find that myself, too. The current Facebook-app doesn't match the ICS / JB HOLO theme and isn't that quick either. It really decreases the quality of the user experience.
However, since I don't have any knowledge of building apps whatsoever, I am afraid it'll just remain a concept - unless or until some developer wants to help me, that is.

Very nice concept!
Yeah, if somebody out there would develop, it will be very polished and neat. Goes along well with ICS, JB and above I believe .

Time to be a critic!!
The site is very slow!! - not good at all especially for us android lovers.
Design sucks!! - Look at some of the sites on the net and look at yours its like you took from a bunch of sources and made your site use some creativity.
Way to small. Get rid of your margins.
Search the net for some scripts that can help instead of creating your own static pages.
I can put together a site that would have a database of all roms created with extras for all devices and look clean at the same time. Next thing would be maybe get permission from the people who made those roms, themes, etc. before you starting putting them on your own site.
Dont take this personally take it as some very good feedback. I manage about 10 websites and when i started i thought it was cool to have flash intros and music then a bunch of images to show what is going on and even tried static content. blog scripts, cms scripts and others are your friend.
Thanks so much for the input! Never meant any disrespect to android lovers! I am one also! As for permission to use peoples rom's and themes! I only posted the links to the developers page taking no credit for anyone's work! Other than that I will tighten up on my work and rethink my delivery! Thanks

Gotta give the man credit for being open to constructive criticism.
Let us see what you got next time around.
Yeah listening to others is always nice.
If you need some help give me a message.
Yea I'm willing to look at the situation open minded! The purpose that drives me and I am sure you can relate! Everyday I am on the quest for new goodies! And it gets very tiresome having to hunt for everything for each device! So when I find something I research for compatibility and download! After flashing I like for only short periods and then move to the next! Well I thought after all my efforts instead of just deleting or saving in a file on my PC why not share the foot work for those who do the same! Anthology thanks for the gut level honesty shows your true passion and concern to help others! Thanks again!

So much green!
Users who get the new update, which is virtually every Android phone out there will be able to quickly flip through the carousel to view promoted applications and immediately go to the download page for the application they want.
They’ll now also be able to find Widgets and Live Wallpapers thanks to a dedicated section while Related content, which makes it easier for users to quickly find apps of similar interest. Seems you can’t have enough weather apps.
To streamline the browse-to-purchase experience, users can now access all the information about an application on a single page without the need to navigate across different tabs.
Other new elements is a reduction in the time you can request a refund (15 minutes) and a stronger focus on allowing games developers the chance to make better games with more graphics support and the ability to make larger apps.
“With this release, we aimed to deliver features that are most requested by users and developers. However, we’re not done yet,” says Chu. “We plan to continue to rapidly enhance Android Market for both users and developers and make it the best content distribution service for the Android ecosystem.”

Uninstall this on your 2.1 and go into the market app (I think it's Vendor.apk?) and see if you're prompted for an update, I'm being told the 2.1 upgrade is already live in the market.
Working just fine on 2.2 DK28, thank you very much for the download!

Steam Droid Chat

Steam friends app for Android, for mobile chatting with friends on Valve's Steam platform.
I've released version 1.1 yesterday, after a fail with the certificates used for signing the apk. Some people have reported issues with the new version, stating the app claims to be incompatible with their phones.
Now on my phone it still works, I think it might have something to do with the previous version still being installed on the phone. So I recommend removing any previous versions before installing.
You can find the app by searching for 'Steam Droid Chat' on the Android Market. It's the one with the green logo (there's another app with a similar name, please note that my app is free).
The source is available at GitHub, I'll post a link as soon as I'm allowed to do so.
Please let me know what you think and if you encounter any bugs.
Edit: I noticed the title is incorrect, I'm sorry for that, could a moderator change it? It's an app and the minimum Android version is 2.2.
Amazing app!
I can finaly chat with my friends on the road
You could add user name and password on start screen. It's kinda hard to find it.
So here is link for the app (in QR code format)

Well, I used a library for that. Search bitbucket for SteamRE, run by VoiDeD.
So I didn't actually do any Steam related code in the app.
I guess this question will arise sooner or later so let's get this out of the way:
How is our login info treated? Where is it sent and how? My Steam account is quite valuable and I'm not taking any chances with it.
I mean no disrespect, I've been waiting for an app like this for ages.

AirDroid Theming

So I've been using AirDroid a lot lately and have been noticing that the UI is generally very... bright. So I decided to tone it down a little and customize it to fit a more ICS theme. Not to mention have the long-awaited Picture of our Galaxy Note up top!
If you don't know what it is, check it out here.
I just started the project about an hour ago and plan on re-theming pretty much everthing in there. What do you guys think? Any suggestions?
The .apk is attached at the bottom of the post if you want it (You're going to have to uninstall your current version before installing due to different signs), if you download it please leave a thanks and offer some suggestions and ideas!
(.apk Updated June 6th with the most recent version)
New fixes by the Airdroid staff and visual updates by me! Have at it.

Yeah I fixed the sending animation and just touched it up to look pretty much how it does right now. There are still a few things missing (like the large image of the Note under the details, as I just haven't gotten around to doing that yet). Didn't look like too many people had any interest in it so I just didn't keep it updated here. If you want a link I'll upload it to Dropbox and paste a link in here for you though

It is attached to the first post now, I decompiled the .apk and located all the files I needed, then Photoshopped and CSS'ed my way through it until it looked the way I wanted. Then just Recompiled and signed it for distribution!
Looks good. I may try my hand at it as well, give it a Holo look. If I get it how I like it then I'll post the apk as well.
Edit: I see you already gave it a semi-Holo look. I did go in and change a few of the icons to the Google icons and I changed the background to the ICS background. I didn't look at one of the icons close enough though and didn't realize it wasn't transparent, so I'll have to fix that. Otherwise, I'm happy now.
The apk has been updated to include the new version released by the AirDroid team a few days ago, check it out! It's much less buggy than the original.
thanx

Very nice! Funny, I did almost the same thing. Only thing I changed was the image of the phone to be the SGN. (and the note in my picture is running AOSP ICS) You seemingly went above and beyond though with the theme. Good job

[APP][2.2+]Pinterest Android App

Do you know Pinterest? Do you know you can see a lot of wonderful photos on that website? And do you know so far there still is no Official Android app released by Pinterest?
Here I've developed a Pinterest Android App, which can help you perform a lot of operations in your mobile device. The feature list is as below:
+ Upload your favorite photos, or images in your gallery, with eight image filters
+ Create board
+ Repin the images of other people
+ Browse popular pins
+ Like, Comment a pin
This app is NOT official, but it is a real app which is quite different than a lot of "faked" Pinterest apps which just wrap a webview to load the mobile web page.
Below are the snapshots of this app.

This app would be awesome if you could read the posted comments without having to hit the repin button. At least that's the only way I can read the caption. When I tap the comment icon it just gives me a blank box for my comment obviously, but it would be nice to be able to read the comments before yours as you write. Hopefully that made sense. Nice work so far.
