Phone automatically sending texts after every restart - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

So each time I restart my phone, whether it's after a titanium backup, a cwm backup or anything, it will automatically send the last two people I texted messages from a few days ago. I have the backups set at 2 am so I end up annoying my friends.
What's going on here?
Edit: On a completely separate note, when I get a text, my phones screen doesn't turn on and I don't get the notification tone, only vibrate. Once I wake my phone up via the unlock button, the tone suddenly pops up and I get my message. I've been missing texts and it's annoying.

Well, you are sending your phone messaging app to a state where it hasn't finished sending the text out,I assume.I would suggest flashing with wiping and when you do your titanium back up, you don't use the messaging backup...should fix it. As far as text goes for lighting up the screen, what Rom are you on, several of them have this issue, or had, not sure if it's ironed out.

Actually I'm having the same issue of texts being resent after a restart....and i'm on 1.85 stock unrooted. I'm using Handcent SMS though so I figured the app was the culprit.

Coredroid lock screen

In the new v5.4 when u get a text the lock screen comes on. Is there to have it not do that and just flash led? I don't like that anybody can look at my messages when I get them.
Thanks

Inspire me, I'm happy to answer your question, but please post all rom related questions in the respective rom thread. All roms are different and not everyone is using the same. Your question will get answered quicker too.
That said, go to settings, privacy, and uncheck display message text on lockscreen. It doesn't keep the lockscreen from coming on, but it's one way to do what you need. I hope that helps. See you over at the CoreDroid thread.
I appreciate that. I did that. I just don't like my screen coming on for battery purposes. I can't post on the thread until I have exceeded 10 posts then I definitely will

How are you getting the screen to light up on receiving a text message? My screen has never lit up from a text notification without using something like GoSMS. Right now if my device is locked, it will only vibrate on text. I'd like vibrate+screen for say 10 seconds.
Many times my phone is on vibrate/silent and I miss a text message because I have no visual cue. I'd use the LED light, but that keeps blinking until you clear the notification.
I'd be okay if I could configure the LED to only flash 3 or 4 times then stop, or stop after say a minute.
Back to topic: Is my phone doing it right, or is there a setting I'm missing somewhere?
Yeah I see your post count now. Not sure this can be done with stock lockscreen. You may try handscent sms or widgetlocker.
I didn't have this problem til I updated to v5.4 and I have had all the coredroid Rome from v4.5

Use an app that will split messages for you, or at least has a counter so you can split them yourself.
go into messaging, hit menu, settings and look for Split message, you can also check-mark message counter...
i have not had the issue since

Sms not being sent

I installed Go SMS because i love the features especially the pop notification. Using the app, I've come to realize that text messages are not being sent. It just stays there and never sends. I looked at HTC's messaging app and the text also displays there are being sent but never sends.
Has anyone else had a problem sending texts with GoSMS?
I uninstalled Go SMS and using just the default to see if Go SMS was the one causing the issue
maybe I am the only one.
I've had this issue as well. Sometimes it will just say text not sent and never send.
Other times I will get an error saying text not sent but it did indeed send so I end up sending two of the same.
Best thing you can do with this is pull the SIM card and re-insert it. This problem, if existing, affects more than just people who use GoSMS as GoSMS is just a skinned texting surrogate. Sure, it sends and receives texts, but it does so using the frameworks of the main messaging app on your device. I've encountered this problem with the main messaging app, and I just pull the SIM or put it in airplane mode for a few seconds then take it off and it's fixed it every time.
Hope this helps.

Does the issue go away after doing that or does it come back? Should I turn off the phone when I remove the sim or should I do it while it is on?
If a text doesn't send for me I can still send one right after and that one sends fine.
so for the past 2 days i used HTC's messaging app and everything always sent. just now i redownloaded GO SMS and the second text i sent, it did not send so it must be something else

it's an uglier app but I did download it. So far so good
For what it's worth, gosms works fine for me other than the recipient used to get duplicate messages. I froze the stock messaging app and changed gosms settings to control text delivery and it's been all good so far. It's not an ics compatibility issue, it's sense. Hope that helps

I will keep this in mind. I haven't rooted my phone so I can't freeze the message app.

So i have found out what is causing my text not to send. If I reply to a text using the pop notification while I am in another app like Google Chrome or draw something, the text does not send. When I go to go sms, I can see the green arrow showing that it is sending but it never does. The only times I can successfully 100% of the time send a text from the pop up notification is if I am on the home screen instead of within another app. Can anyone else test this for me to see if I am the only one with this issue?

I had the exact same problem with duplicate messages. the freeze worked for me. i had no more issues with messages being sent but i no longer have root access so i can't confirm if that would have changed over time. I have no issues right now.

So even if you reply from the pop up notification while within another app, your text message sends?
Since there is no way to root the AT&T HOX without it being discovered by htc/at&t, I haven't rooted and therefore can't freeze the messaging app

Not sure if you have solved your problem yet, but ChompSMS has worked well for me since the latest update to cater to some of HTC One X's quirks.

I had completely forgotten about chomp. Thanks for reminding me. I started using it and while I still get messages not sending if I reply to a text from the pop up notification, it doesn't do it nearly as much as go sms. With go sms, the message not sending would happen one after another but not with chomp. And even though I don't like the sound, I've set chomp to make a sound after a successful sent message so at least I can tell if my message has sent without having to open the app.
Thanks again for mentioning chomp

I'm having the same issue with texts not sending from the pop up window. It doesn't happen all the time but enough that it's annoying and I always go to the app to make sure it sent, which kind of defeats the purpose of the pop up. I haven't noticed whether it was when I'm in another app or not. However, it's not that it just doesn't send, it's totally lost. There will be no record of it. Other times messages seem to just get stuck sending and I have to click edit and resend in order to get them to go through.
GO SMS has also become very laggy. I can't really type when it's sending or receiving a message. If I'm typing during this time, it's delayed in showing what I've typed and auto-correct and word suggestion don't work. Also, when I leave a conversation and go back to the main screen, it takes several seconds to update the threads. Long enough that I can click on one but then it takes me to the wrong one because it's updated. I thought maybe I just have too many messages. I've set it to limit messages to 700 per thread. Anyone else experiencing these issues? I think I'll try Chomp again until these issues are fixed.

Interesting Notification Bug - Stock

I have found a weird bug that I can't seem to find reported anywhere else. I'm fully stock, fully updated, rocking a custom tone, but that's just an audio file so that probably doesn't matter. I did, though, delete it, redownload it, switch to defaults, everything along those lines before stumbling on one last guess.
Okay, here's the bug. The notification tone gives only an extremely short portion of the notification before going silent.
Solution - and tested - The person you're getting that messed up tone from has reached it's limit of text messages stored on your phone. Simply delete the text messages and you're golden.
Theory: Educated guess here, I think the phone receives the text, sets off the notification process, then does the deleting process. When the deleting process is triggered it stops the tone. Having less than maximum texts gives a full notification.
I actually had 2 people on my phone at full messages, both of them were getting partial tones. Now they are, one at a time deleting the texts, receiving texts and giving full notification alerts.
funny that i found this thread and my phone just started doing it, will delete the txt and reply back with confirmation

No buzz kill here, I couldn't find the solution myself so I'm glad there is one... now I go to read that thread.
On second thought... since I came up with the exact same solution, it' smuch the opposite of a buzz kill, it makes me happy to have figured out the actual and correct thing.
Then in that case, glad I could help!

The best solution I found was to put the ringtone as a silent one for msging and use tasker to play your notification sound whenever a msg is received.

No new text notification while screen is on and in conversation

I have had the M8 since release and I've always had the issue of no new notification, if I receive a text while the screen is on and I'm still in the current conversation. Example: I'll text someone back, put the phone down without turning the screen off but don't check it unless I hear the notification go off. I'll get a new text but I won't receive a notification (vibrate, ringer or LED).
I've tried 8SMS and Hangouts and the issue is still there. I've tried to search for any solutions but nothing has pointed me to a similar thread (could be keywords I'm using). For now, I try to hit the home button when I'm finished sending my text in hopes I would get the notification.
Can somebody point me to a fix or suggest a fix? I'm rooted and s-off'd but running stock ROM.

By any chance. Do you use sms backup and restore? I know that when I use it, that specific app forces me to set the restore app as my default sms app and I don't get any text notifications.

I used it originally to transfer texts over but I use SMS Backup+ daily to auto back to my Gmail account.
I get notifications but if I receive texts after I text someone without hitting the home button, I don't receive a notification.
