[Q] Clock/time problems - Asus Transformer TF700

Wondering if anyone else is experiencing clock/time issues?
My infinity taskbar clock will occasionally get stuck at a certain time (i.e. 4:28 is stuck right now) and other times will continue to work but show the wrong time. Other times it shows the correct time. The clock on the asus options panel will show a different time than the taskbar, or show the right time.
Anyway, the time is always correct in the settings > date/time menu. I have tried changing from auto time/no sync, asus panel/normal panel, etc but I still experience problems with the clock.
I doubt it is a hardware problem because in the settings menu (and it apps that grab the time) it is always correct. It just displays incorrectly (or pauses for hours at a time) on the taskbar and the pop-up menu.
Anyone else ever experience anything similar? I am eagerly awaiting the bootloader unlocking tool that will open up all of the awesome custom roms, adding functionality and fixing things ^.^

No clock problems here -- have you tried clearing cache/data on the asus clock app? What about a factory reset (I know, I hate them too)?

Yes, I have the same bug and it's very frequent... I'm not sure but I think it occurs when I use the "One-Click clean" button of the task manager widget.
Do you use this button?

hm... yes I have the widget on my home screen, and I use it often. I will test this and see if that's whats causing the problem.
Thanks for commenting! I will post back my findings...

YouTube app totally borked on Transformer

Anyone else seeing a problem where the YouTube app is totally borked on the Asus Transformer when it's docked? Type something into the search and press the spacebar, and it seems to scroll the page rather the type a space...

I have the same problem, and no not touching anything except the space bar.
I have just been pressing the search button on the dock when I'm looking stuff up on youtube. The space bar works fine that way til someone finds a way to fix it.

WORK-AROUND: click the youtube logo at screen top/left and use the search box on the home screen instead, as that one isn't affected by the typing bug.
I have the same problem. Thanks for the tip.

Widgetlocker problem

Hi,
Since two days I'm a happy and proud Note owner, but there's one thing, that makes me really go crazy:
I installed the program "Widgetlocker", because the standard lockscreen is quite broing. It actually works quite good, but sometimes the standard lockscreen still apears. Not instead of the widgetlocker, but additional. So I always have to unlock two lockscreens.
Does anybody else has got this problem? And how can I fix it?
I tried to find a solution in different forums and in the program configuration, without sucess!
Thanks for help!
Edit: The error apears mostly when there's a pop-up (gtalk e.g.) or when I plug in the charger....
I turned on root helper and home helper in settings, that fixed it for me. I'm on Stock Rooted XXKK9 if that helps.

I presume you have set the lock screen to "none" in the actual phone settings too?

Finally, the someone else who's been having the same problem.
It IS really irritating. Sometimes it's OK, but other times it just comes on.
Have turned off the lock screen option, but same thing happens. Someone please help!

My widgetlocker works fine. Been using it since day 1. Hmm.. Sorry. Not sure how to help.
chrcad,
Your problem seems related to the fact that Android is not having enough memory left ans simply closes "useless" apps and considers that WL is part of them. To prevent that to happen, simply check in advanced settings the "refuse to suspend WL" box and Android will look another application than WL to close

Thanks @ everybody for the help, but unhappily it's still not working properly.
The problem always apperas, when the phone's sleeping and a gTalk message comes in.... but ONLY, when the gTalk ppop-up is activated......
Any (more) idea?
you are leaving it running all the time aren't you?
I use to have the same problem, very rarely but it was still annoying. I have put a lock on widgetlocker so if I ever close all programs, widgetlocker is still running. It's not happened since but it's only been a few days so I'll see.

Some pop-ups cause this if they're designed to appear underneath the stock lockscreen rather than dismiss it.
For now:
1) Easy Wake Mode disables the system lockscreen
2) WL Settings > Long-press volume down for Experimental > Aggressive Dismiss stock lockscreen. This should work, but it's not well tested yet so it's off by default.

Just curious - why are you even setting that option? My understanding is that it will just limits how many apps you can multitask with (could be wrong though).

I would also like to know why this option keeps getting reset on power down/up.
My reason, if you require a reason, which you shuoldn't really, is wanting to control the amount of tasks on the machine. If they have the option available, it shouldn't have to be re-enabled each boot.
Could be wrong here.
Aren't certain developer settings only available for rooted devices?

From just messing around with it, it seems that if enabled, the setting does restrict the amount of processes.. it just doesn't carry over on reboot.
Which would be a very cool built in auto task killer, in my opinion.
Its a bit frustrating to have to continually re-check the option.
I just installed the most recent firmaware update though so I'll see if it sticks now.
This option doesn't stick on any android device I've used. Didn't stick on the original Samsung Galaxy, Nexus S, Asus TF101 or Galaxy S3.
Just assumed this is by design.

Because for many, it prevents random reboots. It also means you don't have to constantly clean out the background processes when launching something heavy. Let's face it, you're not going to multitask whilst playing a bluray or heavy game.

3rd consecutive Infinity - 3rd time no "haptic" feedback

Subject says it all. "vibrate on touch" not functioning...AGAIN, and I did factory reset, firmware update blah blah blah. This makes 3 in a row for me with this issue. C6, C5, and now C7 s/n.
This time I bought it at Best Buy locally instead of online like the first two, so I can exchange it more easily.
So, what's the over/under on the total # of times I'll be exchanging this thing until I get one that works 100%?
Mechanical construction seems fine w/ minimal light bleed.
One final thing ASUS: W T F ?!
No haptic feedback on what, typing? There are settings to increase the instensity and the stock setting you can't feel it, so you need to go to the keyboard in settings and change the intensity.

No touch feedback on ANYTHING.
The only place I notice the haptic feedback is when I power the device on and off - that's it... I'm wondering if all 3 units were actually fine the whole time??

My first one it worked fine then inexplicably stopped working. Every time I tapped the screen I would get a response. When I would place widgets on the screen I would get a response. I can adjust the settings/volume in advanced keyboard settings, but when I type there is no feedback response. Mine does vibrate on start-up/shut-down, that's it.
I feel a slight vibration when I press any of the three buttons on the lower left of the home screen
Did you go to "Settings - Sound - Vibrate On Touch" and turn it on?

If it works on startup/shutdown then I don't think it's a hardware problem - probably just a combination of settings...

This is nuts...
There is an option that can be toggled on and off in the settings menu. It's called "vibrate on contact". You know what I am referring to, right? Whether or not that box is checked has no effect on the haptic feedback.
I am aware of the 'advanced keyboard settings' where the duration of the feedback can be set. I can slide that around and feel the response. When I use the keyboard: no response. Again, it's not just the keyboard, it's everything.
My very first tablet, when I clicked on menu items, icons, etc, the scren would vibrate..just like my cell phone. Every time I tapped the screen there was a solid response. Then it suddenly stopped working. 2nd tablet, very faint feedback when hitting the 3 icons in the lower right hand side, none anywhere else.
I have a feeling a LOT of people have this issue and don't realize it and/or don't care about it.
Bottom line is, my constant issue has nothing to do 'playing with settings' hard boot, cold boot, boot in the ass, whatever. It has to do with piss poor quality control on the part of the mfg.

Haptic feedback response is supposed to be for more than just clicking on those 3 icons you are referring to. How about when you select various things from the settings menu? When you click on an app? Press and hold an app/widget in the menu to drag to the homescreen? In those cases, and others like typing, there should be vibratory feedback. If you're ok with it then great. I just feel that if I am spending $500+ on something I want ALL the functions to work.

Are you using the stock launcher?
Ya, thats settings for the tablet dude. If you feel the feedback when you turn it on or off then it IS working. Asus has just nerfed the HF when your navigating around android likely to save battery life. Chances are with custom roms and custom kernels when they come you can boost the intensity of the vibration and enable it for everything, not just three or four buttons on the homescreen.
Honestly, in a device like this having HF is sort of silly, one tiny vibrator isnt going to provide that much feedback in such a large device and it just kills battery. The only time i really like having it is when i turn on the device and get that feedback to tell me that yes, the tablet is in fact turning on.
I had the same issue that haptic feedback was only working while powering the device up.
But to my big surprise it started to work on everything without me doing anything about it.

Maybe its a bug that didn't exist in the firmware version on your original unit, but exists in the current firmware...
My point is that its not a *hardware* issue if it vibrates on power up/down...

Maybe, but I always turn off haptic on my phones and tablets.. never did like them
Ok, so I just tested this. The only way to key the soft keyboard keys to vibrate on touch is by going into the "Asus Keyboard" settings and enabling it there. If I enabled it under the "Android keyboard" settings, it doesn't work (since we actually using the Asus soft keyboard). Also, make sure to increase the vibration length as it defaults to 1ms or something like that.
Have you enabled the vibration under *Asus Keyboard* settings?
The back, home and recent apps soft keys did vibrate by selecting Vibrate on touch under Settings->Sound.
So, it seems to work as expected here...

Anyone else using JB (factory reset + root) and find dock doesn't delete (backspace)

Seems to be an odd / random occurrence but if you type a few letters maybe 4-5 and then try to delete everything, it won't let you (with keyboard dock haven't tried a 'soft' app yet).
Also noticed in a few apps that paste is broken in certain text fields.
Anyone else having these issues and know a fix?

I've run into the paste thing myself. Not the backspace yet, although I've seen at least 2 other threads with it being mentioned,.
I've run into the backspace not working when trying to correct input in a field on a web site.

If this fix your issue make sure you hit "thanks"!! just kidding. I found a work around may work for you guys. Just change your default keyboard to Android instead of Asus. Let me know if it works for you.
I ran into all kinds of oddities like that before the Jelly Bean update. What app are you using that you're noticing the Backspace problem OP?
Most of my problems were always with Chrome before JB update. The search box after the initial search in Google would become inactive, times I couldn't clear it with Backspace nor highlight.

@ under 2 is the International US Layout.
@ under ' is the UK Layout.
Just go to settings --> input and language and change the keyboard language from English (US) to English (UK).
I have both of these problems. when I change my keyboard from asus English to Android English, it just prompts me to returm it to Asus keyboard to maintain hardware consistency. nothing seems to work! As an aside, running stock, no root..... wah-wah!

However, I did switch to Android keyboard from ASUS (there was a working that this work cause issues) and I'm no longer having the problem. Viable work around indeed! thanks guys!

The backspace key issue (and others) seem to be tied to any text input which does not completely constrain the cursor. To check cursor constraint, simply put carrat focus inside a text field and then press home or end from a physical USB/bluetooth keyboard or by using the FN key on the dock. If focus stays in the text box then you should experience no keyboard issues. If, however, the current page jumps to the top or bottom them you will see random loss of the backspace key as well as a few other annoying things. For example... in a non-constrained textbox the delete key on a USB keyboard will not work but shift-backspace on the dock will. Go figure. Setting input to the Android keyboard only corrects some of these issues. Please file a bug report with ASUS using your VIP memeber account if you have one as this requires a patch from them in order to correct.
