Greetings,
I am relatively new to the world of custom ROM but have tried to research as much as possible during my spare time. I am having some difficulties in flashing the new baseband to my LG P500 and I seek your help.
Long story: I have 2 LG Optimus One (P500) with stock Froyo ROM. They both has the old baseband (v10). On one of them, I managed to:
1) root it,
2) installed recovery,
3) flashed the ICS 4.0.4 (LG3 UI, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1759908).
Two mistakes I made during the process were:
a) I did not back up,
b) I did not flash the new baseband before I flashed ICS ROM.
Now I have an almost fully functional phone but without GSM access. I tried to flash the new baseband using LGMDP, but LGMDP does NOT detect the P500 with ICS, even though
- USB debugging is turned on
This is on a Windows-7 machine. The Device Manager simply DID NOT detect the LG modem. However, if I plug in the other P500 with Froyo ROM, The Device Manager will detect it and so would LGMDP.
Can anyone please shed some lights as how I should proceed at this point?
thanks in advance,
I think you flash one of the ICS version that windows dont reconze phone, but in recovery it do,Try to flash the baseband with phone in emergency mode..
If dont work flash GB based rom so pc can reconize phone.

Till the time you figure out how to flash new baseband or whether
to flash a new baseband or stick with the old one..
Use this patch.. this will help you get GSM network.
Flash it through recovery!!
HERE
Try going into recovery, ldmdp should detect it.

thanks
I managed to flash the baseband by turning the phone into emergency mode. LGMDP detected the phone this way.
Thanks very much

Please help me I think I brick my g2x I root after that I tried to install the gingerbread leak room but I have like 30 minutes and my phone is stuck in this screen
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
did you install a custom recovery by chance?
no i didn't i download the leaked room gingerbread i put in my phone storage and then i tried to install by room manager
You should still be able to recover the phone using the following post to install ClockworkMod recovery the correct way and flash whatever ROM you like. I believe you must have an external SD card (old one of at least 1GB will work fine) to do this though.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
You do own a T-Mobile branded G2x and not the international LG Optimus 2x, right?
yes is the tmobile version ,, and thanks for ur help i already got back working the phone again thanks alot
No problem but I still recommend installing recovery through NVFlash in that thread.
Hi,
I have a LG P999dw from Wind mobile. It was running on stock Wind mobile ROM froyo and I wanted to upgrade to cyanogen mod so I used the one click rooter to root the device and then installed ROM manager from the app store.
Once in ROM manager I did the flash clockwork recoverymod and then the phone rebooted. After rebooting it was stuck in boot loop. So i booted to the recovery partition by pressing and holding vol down button while powering on. The screen said S/W Upgrade please wait while upgrading.
After doing some lookups on google I found one click recovery flasher using nvflash. I tried that several times to flash clockworkmod or even the stock recovery with no luck. Finally when I thought the phone is bricked I discovered this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248644
I used this post and nvflashed the T Mobile stock rom GB 2.3.3 on the phone and it booted up just fine. Now it works excellent except the battery runs out a bit faster and whenever I try to boot to recovery partition it just gives the same message S/W Upgrade. I also tried this solution http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1590523 it ran successfully and wiped the phone but when I tried to boot into recovery still I got the same message.
So I relfashed the phone with the t mobile stock rom and I started working fine again but with no luck on installing CWM or stock recovery.
Please help!! I need to get this phone running the bionix rom that saves a ton of battery life. I am running it on another G2X and I get like 8 hours more battery juice from the phone.

Thank you for replying.
Tried the above repair. It gave the following error.
This version not supported v11h (image attached). Even though the phone shows software version v21e in the about phone section. Just wondering, his phone was originally wind mobile and running froyo so may be its original software version is written in some config file which has not been modified by the nvflash that I did.

You must have V21Y installed for the method I sent you to to work. You need to clean install a complete .kdz version of your choice by either using LG update or the offline update method.
I will try kdz method this weekend

I was thinking of trying the KDZ method too. I will try to lookup for a known working method this weekend and try it. I will let you know how it went. By the way I am also from Toronto. I live in Scarborough. Have a nice long weekend.
Recovery partition is till messed up.

Hi,
Sorry for the very late reply. This is what I tried, I download the lg tool to flash kdz files onto my g2x and also downloaded the kdz file for v21y. Everything went well, base band is good its now updated to march 2012. The phone works perfectly fine. The only problem is, when I boot to recovery the phone still says s/w upgrading. I tried NVFlash and onclick to load both stock or CWM. It loads everything successfully but when I try to boot to recovery, its the same old message.
I tried to root the phone using ADB (psneuter) but it does not support GB 2.3.5. And I want to install a custom rom to the phone. I was wondering if there is a way to fix the recovery partition somehow. Then I can load any rom I want.
Here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24635755, do this and this should fix your partition problem, then, flash away.

Today I decided to root my phone, and did so with z4root. Then I installed a rom, using ClockWorkMode recovery, and crystal rom cm10 Jelly Bean. Everything works fine, except I get no cover/connection at all. From what I gathered by googling all day I probably didn't upgrade my old baseband to a new one, thus causing all of this. I get a null IMEI.
The version on my LG P500 was 2.2. I didn't make no backup whatsoever (I know, I know...).
Can I revert all the stuff I did today, returning to a factory state? Or any way to solve this mess?
Please, help.

If you don't have a backup try this one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060121
For the firmware look at my last post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39007064&postcount=7
.
But there are few known issues with KDZ updater i.e. you should never remove your battery when you are in emergency mode. As this can hard brick your phone.
.
Otherwise you can use this.

Don't do what the person above says, it will brick your phone and you will not be able to use your phone at all. Download lgmdp and flash v20g baseband through it (for files and tutorial search Google), do not interrupt the process. After it has finished, restart your phone and your network signal will come back.

Mr. Junior Einstein, read the whole post before you say anything. Stop provoking me to take any step against you.
I already posted a link for lgmdp thread for the convenience of user.
Thank you.
Unfortunately the computer won't recognize my phone when I connect it, if I don't switch mass storage on. Can I follow that procedure anyway? Otherwise how do I fix it?
Thanks.
KDZ should be the absolute last option you try, only if all else has failed and you r ready to accept a chance of a brick . Instead You can just flash the old bb fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39893089. This works for all roms ( makes them compatible with phones whose base band has not been upgraded). Enter recovery, flash rom, reboot then flash old bb fix then reboot. Works flawlessly. You have to flash this after every new rom you try and you can be on old bb for ever. No worries. Hope this helps.

KDZ will not brick your phone. If anything, LGMDP is just as likely to brick your phone. It is all about what you do or do not do, as in: do be careful, and do not interrupt the process until it says complete. This is true for BOTH programs.
I've used KDZ more than 20 times and not once have I bricked my phone.
I was able to fix using the old baseband fix here.
Thank you very much for your help!

I'm sorry to say that you are wrong. When flashing baseband through lgmdp, you have 0% chances of bricking your phone.

Both have near equal chances of bricking / not bricking. All depends on how much you understand what each tool does, how it works & and what precautions you take.
Blind usage could lead to the grave whereas both are life savers too !!

Like what pmvyas said, it all depends on the user.
Hi! I'm not new to android modding, but with this phone (the 3D) I founded some difficult. There is some confusion in my mind about the baseband,ROM etc... Now I run CM7.2 with baseband v21d, but before I try to install CM10,but I encounter some problem:
1) My phone, like happened to others users, works properly without SIM, but when I put it inside the phone, and then PowerOn the device, it stuck after about 30 sec and then reboot.
2) I bricked my P920 trying to come back to GB stock (there are too many guides about it,and maybe I forgot something...). However, now my P920 is like new because I havd warranty and my store repaired it.
The question now is this:
I install CM10 on baseband v21e and v21d...but the result was the same: reboot with SIM.
What can I do to have CM10 on my wonderful P920? thx for the attention :good:

Download the latest nightly and gapps. (There are links everywhere.)
Flash v28 baseband (There are links everywhere.)
Flash your CM10 rom.
Flash Gapps.
You're good to go.
No SIM problems here.
No problem with V21D and V21E here. *knocks on wood* However, I recommend flashing wpark's v1.25a bootloader (or BIOS - same thing) as it forces any modem firmware to stand up - V21D as a minimum - just go with V28A if you want the fast way out of SIM issues on original bootloader (or wpark's).

so...if I install wkpark's bootloader on v21d,and then CM10+gapps it should run with SIM? tomorrow i Try (in my country,Italy,it's half past one :silly: ) thx for the reply
You can try V28 first and see.

Ok...so the plan is to flash the v28.kdz and then install cm10 right?
now I'm on CM7...if I flash v28.kdz it's right? sorry for my ask...but bricking this phone make me careful!
You can install cm10,gapps and wkpark's bootloader now. That's the easiest way now. Besides that thing is actually nearly unbrickable there is a good chance you could have repaired it by yourself. But let's not talk about the past. Try, it should work.

ok guys...I don't know how to say but... IT WORKED
I wiped cm7.2,and I install CM10+gapps. then I go into fastboot mode, I flashed manually u-boot+x-loader by wpark and then...it doesn't freeze! I really love you guys...really...now I have a badass phone with cm10...
THX to all!

No. I just flashed Super light rom .zip though cwm, like on the Galaxy S2. Atm it wont connect to the pc. Smart Flash tool gives me an error. and the only thing i'am able to reach is cwm.
any help?

Btw: When i connect it to the pc, it plays a kind of connect disconnect sound repeating rapidly. (NOT THE ACTUAL Connect and Disconnect sound. But something whats like it) its really weird.

It's normal to hear that sound.
Your phone is detected as OMAP4430(see in device manager) and you should use OS_Hackings tool to flash ICS bootloaders, as itaka said...

Doesnt work. I followed the ressurection guide but LG Flash tool doesnt say Ready. Also seems i cant get it in DL mode without omap. LG Flash too doesnt say anything about model suffix of EZlooks aswell. only says BOOTV21E_AP for S/W version.
Help please?

I really need to fix the phone. Its my girlfriend phone and i borrowed it. She needs it back
Ok ok ok, don't worry.
If it's detected by pc than it's fixable.
Follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39269819
It's explained really good how to use LG Flashtool.
By the way you don't need to flash rootedv28b and v8 if you dont want to, you can flash official v30a if you're in EU or v30b if you're in US instead just use the guide to learn how to use the tool.
Official Open EU v30a can be downloaded from here:
http://csmgdl.lgmobile.com/swdata/WDLSW/LGP920/ANEUML/V30a_00/V30A_00.kdz
md5: 04F2A05CBEC9B9EA7C2D6D29F5796E5B
US AT&T v30b version can be find on this forum also so use the one you need.
If you want a custom recovery use OS_Hackings tool and you're done...

One more thing, if you reaaaaaally can't get the LG flashtool to work you can try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40120341
Just DON'T flash the P920_GB_v30a_00.kdz, instead flash the one from my previous post because the P920_GB_v30a_00.kdz was the leaked ICS at that time.
Cheers
