i know huh. the root for FE17 came out so fast.FE16 is taking quite a while to root. I have tried 10 different ways to root it but no success, hopefully someone will soon.

IM starting to think we all conquer users are just gonna have to wait for a month or two till some one finds a way to get root.
sprintĀ® should quit making us do what they want with are phones. we pay a lot of money for our phones and we can't use them the way we want. I think its bull... with these updates, and not being able to root.

Maybe simple update question?

I have been reading about guys excepting the update and just rerooting after, so I tried it. Now when I 'rerooted with root 66 it brought me back to vralf 2. I checked for the update again and I get a msg saying com.samsung.syncmlservice has stopped? Now I know the number one rule is don't except updates, so don't preach just looking for help.. Also if I restore and except update then root will It keep the vlraf7 after rooting. Sorry for the mouthful in advance.

When you installed root66, what you essentially did was install a rooted version of VRLF2 over VRLG7. Probably the safest thing to do would be Odin back to complete stock, accept the update, then use a root method that takes advantage of an exploit rather than one that installs a rooted version of a ROM. There are other ways to accomplish what you want, but I think that would be the safest.

Update to GB?

I went to the Relay4g, so I gave my son my old SK4g.
He said that it tried to update today.
Does this mean custom 2.3-actual in the works?
Anyone w/stock ROM get this?
Lol I'm on a custom rom, but this temps me to Odin and find out

Wait, what?
It probably just had old firmware on it and it tried to update.
Highly doubt this as the phone was discontinued and abandon by the developers

Ill try and do it when I get home, anyone see anything on samsungs site?
Sent from my SGH-T839 using Tapatalk 2
ok unrooted and tried... nothing... ill let it ride overnight but ill have to reroot in the am as im very doubtful there is a gingerbread update. if there really is an update im sure it would just be bug fixes and such for a newer stock froyo... even this i kinda doubt
It may be trying to update to KJ2. I received an email from Sammy stating that GB is not even being considered.

Got my stock SK4G today (no bad IMEI, yay!) and decided to check for firmware before rooting. According to Kies Mini, the upgrade version is T839UVKJ2/T839UVKJ2 11/11/07.
Hope no one got their hopes up.

Unroot needed for upgrade to latest stockrom?

I have the ATT skyrocket rooted and unlocked when I first got the phone in 2011, and is on 4.04. I remember that the post said that I must unroot if I want to upgrade the rom OTA from ATT. Is there any other way to upgrade to the latest stockrom without unroot? I cannot find the post I originally referenced to root/unlock.

^^ what he said. Just get the .tar file from sammobile.com and flash using Odin. You will lose root after this process.
If you want to update using kies (the update is not ota. You have to use kies. ) then s long as kies detects your phone and you have a stock recovery, you should be OK.
However, I believe that you will loose your apps and data with both the methids.. So just use Odin

Thank you very much. I should be able to re-root after the upgrade, correct? Or the lastest 4.1.2 cannot be rooted yet?
I have problem with Odin before, never got anything done with it. Let me try it this time.

Yes you can root the new jb using the same procedure as before.

If your rooted why not just flash a stock rom with the newest update. That will save you the trouble of dealing with Odin.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
Trouble? Odin is as simple as place file in pda and click start. I don't see any trouble there....

I meant it more of an hassle. Plug in Odin then uproot do the update then reroot. Just seems so much easier to flash a stock base rom.

Why would you unroot to do the update via Odin. I believe your logic is flawed here. Although I do agree an install would be expeditious via recovery, your argument is flawed.

Just FYI - I was on rooted stock, and just did the update with Kies without unrooting. Now i'm on JB unrooted as a result.

[Q] Q:how to root the galaxy s3 vrbmf1 update.

Has anyone found out how to root the vrbmf1 update yet? I've look around and can't seem to find a good enough guide or video on how to do so. If anyone has information on it can you please send me a msg.

There is one method in the android development section it has been there for months and it's the first post. There are to others that have been updated since it was posted last year also in the android development section. Lastly all the methods work you just have to CAREFULLY follow directions.
Yes its hard yo find all the tight files I have Odin 307 I think do you know if that will work with the files?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Yes it will work.
Is it beanstwon method that you are referring to?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Yes it doesn't require Odin. It is just a one click method.
Oh OK I read a lot of the comments and they are positive feedback but as I watched on this guy on YouTube his comment section are loaded with this "messed up my phone" or "don't do this this doesn't work" very little comments that said this worked for me. If this doesn't work on the first try I understand using another USB port on the computer is an option and using a different cord other than the one Samsung gives you is also an option. Is there anything to know about before doing this? This phone s my daily driver and I really don't want to have to use a prepaid phone.
And Should I also download the stock ROM not rooted before doing in case it does like some kind of soft brick?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Well I have never tried the one click method as I use Odin to root my phone. So get the stock roms as backup in case you run into problems with casual.
OK thank you so much for the advice and I'll shall let you know what happens.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
One more question before I do this. Will I still be able to get back to stock like usual if its a hard brick?

If you hard brick your phone you send it to jtag and pay them to get it fixed because nothing else works.
If you are feeling squeamish about the whole thing then it is probably a better idea not to do it.

You are right I an a bite on the edge about it because of its locked boot loader I have dine root before but it was on at&t

No you will need jtag services to fix hardware bricks.

Just thought you might like to know that I just used CASUAL this morning to root my galaxy s3 on Verizon build VRBMF1 with no problem. CASUAL unlocks the bootloader and installs TWRP which I like so far. Just make sure you grab the right download and if it doesn't work the first time try again with a different mirror. There's a version of it floating around out there that for some reason wouldn't work with my drivers.
Hope this helps ease your mind a little. Oh btw I probably read 1000 posts about rooting and the best method and someone claims to have bricked their with every single one of them. It's a risk we take.

Still no downgrade?

So lately I've been seeing sites that claim their method can get you from 4.3 stock back to 4.1.2 stock. But last I heard the bootloader made things impossible and it couldn't be done. So is there a recent exploit found or something that makes it possible to downgrade from 4.3? The reason why I ask is I have a Verizon s3 I want on T-Mobile USA so I kinda need to be able to flash that ROM it specifies in that thread.

Those are more than likely scammers. If a method had been found, rest assured, it would have been plastered all over XDA by now.
