I've got a ton of pictures that are not showing up in my gallery under the stock JB update.
Someone suggested in a Gal Nex forum that you need to install the scratch OTA, so I formatted everything including /sdcard, and installed stock OTA. Rebooted, copied my pics back, and it STILL doesn't show them.
Anyone know what's going on?
Anybody? I know I'm not the only one, but I haven't seen any posts with a solution.
OK, I'm happy to announce that I found the culprit.
Camera360's files apparently do not play well with the Gallery app or media scanner service. I deleted all files in DCIM/Camera that started with C360_ , selected Refresh in Gallery, and lo and behold all my pics started scanning and showing up.
If anyone else is having this problem -- please try this.
I had this problem when using Slim ICS. I fixed it by downloading an app like Sony's millionmoments and ran it to find all my pics. Then uninstalled that app, and pics were showing in Gallery as well. Might work here too.

Omg! Dude you are a genius!! I've been stressing over this for the past 24 hours, and I scanned the whole phone not just the SD card though for "360", and deleted the files that had anything to do with Camera 360. I also heard that Rom Manager might be causing a problem too but I haven't had it for months but I went into Titanium Backup and realized I had a backup of it so deleted that too, I then used Rescan Media app and instantly All of my photos and music and videos showed up on all my media apps. Im so happy right now I could cry.:victory:

YES!!!! I don't know how you figured out that the C360_ pictures was the culprit, but wow, it worked for me! As soon as I deleted them using ES File Explorer, I went to the gallery and now all my different folders showed up with the pictures in them. I went to open Player Pro, and my music didn't show up still, so I downloaded Rescan Media from the market and ran it. Now my phone is good with all my media items. Thanks man!

Thanks man! There was one C360 img and because of it gallery wasn't getting update. Now everything is working.

It worked a little in the beginning but wouldn't update when new albums were added. Now it jsut says "no albums for this user" or something. I hit refresh and nothing and reboot doesn't help.
Anybody else have this issue? Also anyone have a link to the stock Gallery APK from Gingebread?
Can use that instead.
Gallery 3D from the nexus days...still works
You may also need to check to ensure your syncs are working as well, just incase:
Located in the market.

But I also use picasa tool to upload. The gallery 3d and stock gallery uploads to the known 75%-25% gray pics. Using the picasa tool eliminates that issue...for me anyways.

The night before I took off for home I had them all. I was looking through my albums on the plane only to find that 90% of my pictures were gone. Where could they have gone? Were they some how deleted?
wow, that sucks! have you looked for them in your file explorer? maybe they're still there, but not showing up in your gallery

I remember that happening to me too in the beginning. Now I just make sure all my foto's are instantly uploaded to a cloud. I've never figured out
where the pictures go to but it's a strange phenomenon.
I'm not sure why it happened, but if you had Google+ installed and allowed Instant Upload, you can access Google+ from a computer and all your pictures should be there in your Instant Upload folder.
I did have that set up. About 5 pictures were saved.

Dropbox also has Camera uploads. They will instantly upload to your Dropbox folder. Just get the app and set it up...easy!

I have searched the best I can in the forum for this issue and found Gallery related issues but not like my issue on the Samsung.
Considering I am inept at technology and really have little skills in this area, I managed to flash SuperNexus on my old Samsung GT-I9000 and I am amazed that i was able to get it to work. I am very impressed and thankful for this ROM.
Info:
Baseband: I9000XXJVT
Kernel: 3.0.89-gb1c64eb
SuperNexus 3.0 smtd build 1
Build: JSS15J
SO FAR, I have only one issue that I cannot seem to resolve.
The Gallery is showing all of my pictures whether on the SD Card or the Phone and thumbnailing them as videos (without any actual thumbnail image because the video is presumable corrupt since it is actually a .jpg). Selecting any of these, of course, generates an error: "Can't play this video.'
The only image that has a thumbnail is in the Camera folder and was a picture I took with the camera. The other pictures in that folder are also thumbnailed as unplayable videos even though they were taken with the device when it was Gingerbread.
I have deleted the .thumbnails folder, renamed the directories, moved the folders around (varies suggestions I found while searching) to no avail. The images are valid - I can go into File Manager and they are listed in there, viewable and have thumbnails.
Rebooting doesn't change anything and the camera image that DOES work is STILL valid.
** I apologize if I missed a solution to this, although I did search.
I appreciate your help.

This is a nice app - I can live with this and be happy.
Although, there is one issue and from what I can tell it is NOT a QuickPic issue. In SMS(MMS) when sending a text message and using the attachment option, QuickPic appears as a choice to choose from just like Gallery - which is good, is what I expect. However, I mainly use WhatsApp for messaging. Its attachment option does not list QuickPic - only Gallery, Take photo, Video, Audio, Location, Contact. This seems like a WhatsApp issue and I hope they don't have those options hard coded. If anyone has any ideas, that would be great.
But all that said, this is a step forward for me and helps a lot - thanks!
Just a quick one folks, a couple of weeks ago I was alarmed to see my pictures had suddenly dissapeared from the gallery, and no amount of messing seemed to get them back. I downloaded a file explorer and found them once again in >root>sdcard>DCIM>camera. New pictures seem to be stored in >root>sdcard>Pictures.
Anyway so at least they are not lost.
However this change has also affected music. I can only navigate to music files with VLC, all other media players I have tried do not show anything at all. When I select a track as usual VLC will play that track then stop playing! I have tried moving the directory without luck.
I would rather not reset the phone, so if anyone has any ideas as to what can be the matter let me know.
Phone is standard EE

Hey everyone! I have a problem with every N rom i've tried, that in some app like google photos, the default wallpaper picker, and the inbuilt file manager, lot of my camera pictures (from a specific date), and some of my wallpaper folders doesn't show up. But in other apps like totalcommander or Quickpic they are there. Do you guys have any ideas what's causing this? On MM roms everything works fine, and i haven't read anything like this from other users. I would appreciate any help or idea

If i snap a pic now its gona be there, but if i change to a different N rom or just do a clean flash, then the last photos the apps gonna show, those will be the ones i took in april. And with other wallpaper directories, the half of them are there but the other half is missing.

Are your photos dependent on Google Photos? Maybe they're in the cloud and can be accessed on another device.
Also, use a root file manager to search your device for all *.jpg.
