Infinity Stands - Asus Transformer TF700

Hey there,
i am obsessively searching for a nice looking, usable, portable and what not stands for my infinity.
I have turned around all kind of shops, ebay, amazon, etsy etc and haven't found something that would immediately catch my eye.
Some are good, some are ugly. Some are not even functional. Of course it depends on use cases and where you want them to be, but still, there is really not that much of a choice around the interwebs. Same goes for covers...which, for infinity, are simply catastrophic. Nothing good really.
Well, I present you three unique stands for our pads, which could just make my day, I think.
MobileMount - Kickstarter page (there is a link to official site)
Steelie - Kickstarter page (link there)
WingStand - Kickstarter page (links there) - Very simple idea, very cheap, useful for any kind of device...The only problem is I CAN'T order it to my country from Amazon (checking other options with producer directly)
If you have any other suggestions, please please post in this thread.

Looks cool, but unless you need a car mount, I believe either the dock or a folding sleeve is enough as a stand.

My thoughts exactly! My case will handle that for me.

I bought this one:
http://m.kensington.com/sections/product2011.aspx?language=us&country=us&sectionID=2208&sku=K39535WW
by Kensington. Light and foldable. The only problem is the power connector. I don't dare to use my TF upside down because of the antenna cover.

WitGlobal inexpensive cases

Ok, I've been looking into cheap cases for my g-tablet, and I found the following witglobal ones mentioned on the forums in a positive light:
http://witglobal.com/goods-2286-10i...for+Viewsonic+Gtablet+10+-+Free+Shipping.html
And here's one that's just a case, no KB, and now uses straps to secure it instead of the tabs (which often block ports, etc):
http://witglobal.com/goods-3531-New...onic+Gtablet+10++Zpad+T2+-+Free+shipping.html
I've got a few questions here I'm hoping you folks can help me with-
1) I like the idea of a USB keyboard to replace my netbook when travelling, but I feel like I don't want/need that all the time. My excuse for owning this in addition to a netbook is that I can use this in multiple orientations (portrait, landscape, etc) and is great to use casually handheld. I feel like a KB case would get in the way in those situations (not to mention make it roughly the same size as my netbook). Do people use the KB cases all the time or only when they want a keyboard? Does it make sense to buy both cases (a keyboard one and a non-KB one) for both scenarios?
2) I noticed that the non-keyboard version has been updated to have straps instead of tabs (holds better and doesn't block ports). Do they also make the keyboarded version with straps now? Or is that only available in tabs? I looked around and found the old tabbed $16 case, so I'm wondering if there is a new strap KB one that I'm missing?
3)Also, what is the best way to go about purchasing these? I've found them on ebay and I see their website (linked above), but I assume both will be shipping from Hong Kong and take a long time. Any US sellers with the same goods? Or a better place to purchase them from, etc?
Thanks!
Electroniccrap.com stocks several cases for the gtab (and it's run by a member here). I use the CLIP and love it. Only down side is that you can't access the full usb port while in the case.
Slim Bluetooth Keyboard + CLIP is the way to go. Built in stand with the case, and your not lugging the keyboard when you don't need it.
I've heard good things about the Clip but its pretty pricey. I bought a witglobal with clips instead of straps, see here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Fashion-leather...?pt=US_Tablet_Accessories&hash=item4aaa1ba034
the clips hold it really secure. I worry about your second link because straps can stretch. These don't block any ports. It took about two weeks exactly to get mine. A friend at work bought the same case, and it also took about two weeks. Build quality is better than I would expect for a 15$ (shipped) case. I really like the kickstand, and there are little magnets in the straps to hold them down.
I decided not to get a case with integrated keyboard, because I figured more often than not, I wouldn't be using it. I bought a bluetooth keyboard (microsoft 6000) and I just bring that if I need a keyboard for some reason.

I bought a P4 case from ElectronicCrap that doesn't block the USB port. The P4 does not have a built-in keyboard.
I also bought a neoprene-like case meant for a netbook. The case is loose enough to carry the gtab in the P4 case plus a small USB/BT keyboard.
That's the way I roll
Yes, I'm aware of the electroniccrap cases from Steve. They seem nice, and I'd love to support a member here, but there's good reason that I iterated "inexpensive" in my thread title.
Especially if I'm on the fence about purchasing a keyboard one as well, I'm looking for the best-bang-for-my-buck right now. I simply can't justify spending the money on Steve's when there are decent (albeit lower quality material) cases for half the price available.
If I weren't trying to be cheap with this, I'd likely spring for one of those Kindle DX cases I've seen around that appear to fit nicely and are genuinely nice leather material. But sadly that's not in the budget.
As far as the straps vs tabs- I was under the impression that the straps held the device in better, since the tabbed version is actually missing a tab on the right side. Didn't folks say if you hold it the wrong way, the tabbed version would slip right out? I am under the impression that this is exactly why they switched to the strap version. I could be wrong about that.
Indeed, the Kindle DX and plenty of other tablet and Ereader cases use similar strap designs as well. But it is reassuring to hear that the tabs are working for you- makes me feel better about the KB one.
I really want the Clip, but I am not ready to shell out $50 for it. Sigh.
I wouldn't mind seeing the case with straps, but any of those elastic type straps I've ever seen start to loosen. These clips are metal (aluminum?) They hold it crazy tight, I can't imagine what kind of force it would take to come out of there. When I first got it I put the tablet in and held it over the couch and just shook it like crazy and it didn't budge. I mentioned I had a co-worker get the same case. His tablet was also held in very tight.
Not trying to talk you one way or another, but I looked at the Kindle cases too and if you read any updated reviews of them it seemed like they were always getting stretched out to the point of people putting velcro on the tab just to hold it in there. I wasn't a fan of the P4 style cases, because personally I think that sleeve all around adds too much bulk to the whole thing. The witglobal one is like the exact size of the tablet, perfect imo.
The clip looks awesome but no way I was paying $50 for a case either. I also didn't want to lug a keyboard around all the time. If I was going to do that I would just take my laptop everywhere. I would say, see if you can find any of the later reviews, or later threads on those kindle cases. It seemed like a lot of people were having the straps stretch out. The other thing looking at the picture of the witglobal strap case, it almost looks like the one strap would go right over the power button and the other might cover the power/headphone ports.
Hope that helps

Ugh, now I can't decide which one I want! The straps I thought make more sense, and the whole point was that they were supposed to be *better* than the clips at holding it in!
I'm so confused- does anyone have any experience with the strapped design that they can chime in with? I know these things take weeks to arrive from China, so I don't want to order one, find out it stinks, and then have to start over waiting for another one!

That appears to be the same as Amazon's "Poetic-Transformer-Infinity-Keyboard-Portfolio" -- I'd post a link but I'm not allowed to since I haven't got ten posts yet (the logic behind that escapes me).
The poetic is cheaper at $14.95 and free shipping. I've ordered one but it won't get here until tomorrow. I also purchased on ebay:
360-Rotation-Leather-Case-Cover-for-ASUS-Transformer-Pad-Infinity-TF700T-10-1-/271011459951?pt=US_Tablet_Accessories&hash=item3f198ab36f
Which closely resemble's Amazon's "MoKo-Detachable-Transformer-Horizontal---Lifetime," but I think the ebay one looks better and is cheaper as well. I haven't received it yet either -- it appears to be coming directly from China with free shipping but won't arrive for another week. I'll try and update this as soon as they arrive.
I have a case that is basically identical to that one that I got for my Prime. It is a nice case but it adds a lot of bulk to the tablet & keyboard combo. I just got a different case from Amazon that is much better: the "Poetic(TM) 2in1 Ultra Light Leather Case for Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201 10.1-Inch Android Tablet"
This case adds much less bulk. The other case has a third flap on it that is really unnecessary.

Long thread with very little information about cases for tablet and keyboard together. So I think a thread that focuses on this specific combination has some merit.

The thing I'm looking for is to have both a tablet and keyboard case that can be together or separated. So sometimes I want to take both the tablet and keyboard and want something that works nicely. Other times I want to take just the tablet and don't want to bring the keyboard. So I want the case to shrink to be tablet only and allow me to attach or detach the keyboard.
The Poetic-Transformer-Infinity-Keyboard-Portfolio was a little cheaper and I figured for $15 how wrong can I go. Thanks I ordered it!
Anyone know of a real leather case for the combo besides the noreve? I'd like one with the pockets inside like the poetic cases.

I've this one since a few days and it's very great !!!
For the cost, very good quality. You can separate easely the keyboard and the the TF700.
Look is beautifull (like a filofax), very good prize !!!
For me it's a must have for TF700 user with dock.
Camera front and back, power, micro sd, sd are good.
One only a little thing is "bad", there are (en francais 2 élastiques) for to keep the keyboard in place (not very beautifull, this point give a look cheaper only for this part). The access for the usb port is a little hard and it's the same for the power supply (on the keyboard).
A last thing, when you open the case, the connect since the TF700 and the keyboard is sometimes lost ... You must to press a little the keyboard and it's okay.
For all the rest, it's very a good case
P.S. : sorry for my english ...:silly:

I bought that case, but I must say, the quality is pretty cheap. I'm not really sure what I should expect, but it does do it's job of protecting the tablet's exterior so I'll give it that much. The material used however, is fairly cheap/low quality to the touch.
I'm not okay at all with you ... It's a good value for money !
For this prize, it's not possible to have real leather.
There are other cases with best quality of material but very more expensive ...
I received the poetic case. Overall I like it. It feels good and splits easily so you can detach the keyboard and carry it as a portfolio.
Negatives are in portfolio mode the flap is loose since it has extra slack to close around the keyboard. I don't think this is a big issue. The one thing I really don't like is that it doesn't have any stand mode. So if you want to stand it up to watch a movie or just look at email you will need to prop it up with the flap but it isn't designed for this and isn't stable.
Overall I am not satisfied with this cover. I am still shopping.

Hi,
Same question for me: any feedback?
I have the impression that the video watching position is too inclined..
I've had the poetic case (looks the same) for over a week now. I'm still looking. the case looks nice. While it adds quite a lot of bulk, I am mostly using the tablet for work, and it looks pretty professional. Alot of people are concerned about the bindings for the cases, but they seem ok to me (except you have to take off the dock strap to charge). However, I have found that with the dock and tablet cases on I have some difficulty joining and disconnecting the dock and tablet. Sometimes I have to struggle so much I'm a bit worried about breaking it. It takes a fair bit of time (well a couple of minutes anyway), which does not suit me if I need to whip off the tablet quickly to show something to someone or change orientation of the tab if needs be.
I've now just taken the dock cover off because it gets covered by the tablet folio, and seems to dock a bit easier.
Am now looking for a tablet and dock cover that doesn't impede docking, and can cover the screen of the tablet ok without the dock in it. Not in a hurry though cause the Poetic is still pretty ok for the price.
Edit: Don't recommend this case. Very tight to dock the keboard and have scratched the edge of the tablet and ruined 1 screen protector getting it on. Need something with thin leather padding on the dock edge of the tablet.

Does anyone know if sikai case is gonna start developing cases for the infinity??? Their leather case seems pretty good for the prime (http://www.amazon.com/Sikai-Leather...8&qid=1345043945&sr=8-3&keywords=sikai+tf+201)
I got this case a couple of weeks ago-
http://www.secondshells.com/asus-transformer-pad-infinity-tf700-tf700t-w-keyboard-case-platinum.html
I really like it.

case for tf only but use with dock as well

I've been looking through the reviews and I don't think I've seen this. The basic idea is that we are using the infinity to replace a laptop. But the keyboard dock is going to stay at home, while the main unit will be mobile. So, ideally, we would have a case that fits on the infinity and allows the infinity to attach to the dock without any stress (I read at least one of these reviews that the material in the cover caused some extra strain on the unit in attaching the dock).
So, the idea would be that, on the go, you grab the infinity out of the keyboard dock and you have a case that flips over the screen, but can also bend back around and be used as a stand.
When you come home, you attach the infinity to the keyboard dock (no strain) and can flip the screen cover part back over so it's out of the way and use the whole setup kind of like a netbook and charge it at the same time.
Does such an animal exist?
Also interested in this. I would imagine if a case simply didn't have any material on that bottom edge it would be perfect. And the cover could help keep the tablet + dock from tipping over.
Check out this. It's PU leather (i.e., fake) but it's cheap, is supposed to fit well and will allow attachment to the keyboard while in use. I just ordered one. It's supposed to be here by TUE. I'll post back if you like.

Definitely post back - but where did you see that it will allow attachment to the keyboard while in use? All I could find was "access to all controls and features".
I saw that one before, but without any reviews mentioning how the keyboard fits, I shied away... will be glad to hear your input on it!

Look at the design: the last attachment point is mid-tab. The entire docking surface is exposed and unencumbered. I saw a post/photo from someone using that case, and he just docked the tab and sat the keyboard on top of the cover portion which lies on the tabletop.
So, you can't enclose the assembled tab-keyboard combo in this case -- if that's what you're after, sorry if I misunderstood -- but I didn't usually carry my TF101 assembled anyway. I want something that will protect the tab during "regular," separated use, and let me connect the keyboard on the fly when I need to. This case does that.
BTW, I did see one folio-type case on Amazon that will allow the keyboard to be attached and still close the case over the whole shebang. But it added so much bulk to the tab that it defeated the purpose of not carrying an ultrabook.

No - we're on the same page - I only want to cover the tab. If honestly don't see much point in a case if you travel with the keyboard - it kind of acts like a cover anyway.
The bugaboo with all these is that they have to have some amount of material to hold the tab in the case, even when that area is "exposed". In a lot of them, that's the part that folds back over and makes the stand. When it's in that config, with no material to hold it, the tab will just slide out. And it's that little bit of material that's my concern because I don't want something that is basically going to be abnormally prying the tab away from the keyboard (just by being between the two) like the review of the minsuit reported.
I've been using the Poetic Hardback case http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-Protec...6049322&sr=8-1&keywords=poetic+hardback+tf700
If you look closely there's a black nylon strap that you can use to fold the cover of the case backwards, it keeps the case on the tablet only while leaving it free to dock. I think it works pretty well, the only problem is when folding the cover back it does cover the camera as well, but I suspect taking pictures will be rarer than docking to the keyboard.
Which one is the most slim?
Hi!
Which one of the MoKo and Poetic hardback case is the slimmest one?
I wanted to have a normal "protection" only as the iPad has but I cant find anyone that seems to fit good.
(tried the TF201 one in the store and it wasent a perfect fit, went out a little on the sides).
I actually dont need a "full body" cover but if nothing better exists I guess I have to since I want a stand also.

+1 . I am in same situation as you. Want a slim "Ipad-ish" cover with stand for typing.
Dunno about the Poetic case, but the Moko case will do the trick. I'd take pix, but I returned mine along with the tab after I noticed all the hardware issues with the latter. IMO, I'd rather have real leather, but this is good enough for the price.

Seeking an easy slip-in car dock with integrated USB jack

I had a nice car dock with my bionic that allowed me to put the phone in on-handed. It held the phone in a landscape format. I would love to find the same for my S4, although the USB on the S4 is at the bottom so that might be difficult. I'll settle for one that can hold the phone in portrait format also. I have seen some nice looking car docks, but they all seem to require a two handed operation in plugging in the cable. I want a one-handed drop-in and flip-clip to secure it against inertia.
Right now, I have jury-rigged a desktop cradle and it works somewhat well, until I drive on a really bumpy road... hence the "inertia" part.
Has anyone seen such a beast?

Yeah, he seems like a really nice guy too. I've chatted with him by email several times about his product. He's totally enthusiastic about his designs and implementation! And listens to suggestions/ideas as well.
I'm very happy knowing that this one dock is going to work with several future generations of Galaxy products and it's built so tough (aluminum) that it'll never wear out.
Definitely a long-term type of purchase!
I received my craigsdock today and it is exactly as advertised. I am now able to use my otterbox defender case full time. It would not fit even with docks that had removable shims to accommodate larger cases.
I wholeheartedly endorse craig's docks

Galaxy S 5 Car mount

Recommend the best car mount here for Galaxy S 5.
A bit more expensive, but the CraigsDocks Dock is billet aluminum and low-profile and is true one-hand operation and adjustable to work with S2, S3, S4, Note series and now the S5.
http://www.craigsdocks.com/samsung-galaxy-s3-s4-note-2-3-car-dock/
I've had mine a year and won't have to buy a new one when I upgrade to the S5 because it fits all large Samsung superphones.
It's also adjustable to work with ALL cases, including the extra large cases that have built-in batteries.

The air dock is what ultimately tipped the balance for me getting an S5, after seeing it I knew built-in Qi charging was a must have and since Sprint only offers the Nexus 5 in 16GB flavor (not nearly enough, I've got 15GB of stuff on my SD card today which easily exceeds the 12GB formatted capacity, not to mention 2 years from now).
Hope they will make something like this one :

Because its so hard to plug in USB lol, is it really worth an extra $75? Also there's no way that thing could output 2A so charging is going to be much slower, just my opinion.
I just order this Car Mounthttp://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00C9...qid=1396885686&sr=8-11&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70 yesterday. Should be here tomorrow or Thursday with prime shipping.

have you ever used this before? I'm curious to know if it would cause any damage to the internals of the CD slot. I see it has amazing reviews at Amazon (which I trust for the most part) but wondering if you had any personal experience with it...
if it looks to be good, I may get one for the S5 and my iPad Mini (for a long road trip later this summer)

notice my cd changer is curved out but the rubber "fins" still fit snug and very sturdy. They are rubber and do no damage. if for some reason it just will not fit in there on your car model, you can always send it back worry free (with Prime) but it shouldn't be a problem. the grip has a light rubber pad and is controlled by a spring action adjustment. I love it because i can easily place my phone into it by pushing my phone up and in. I take it out with the same motion, press up and pull out. it is made in Korea and the material and parts are very well made.
I really don't know why some of the people here are buying 50-70 dollar suction phone mounts. that is a total rip off.

thanks for the detailed write-up and pics! I have the phone and iPad version sitting in my Amazon wishlist right now... maybe will push them to checkout next payday
Upon inspection of both of my vehicles, it looks like it will work really well and actually sit at a great height (within arms and eyes reach) and not block any controls to anything else (only blocking a clock in my Civic and a clock/temp screen in my Highlander)
thanks again :good:

I ordered a similar one, well basically identical, and it fits superbly in my 2008 honda accord exl. It sits just below all the controls. I was some what worried about it not reaching out far enough as the cd player is recessed when compared with all the radio and nav controls. But it's about as perfect as possible. The best part about this mount in my opinion is that it keeps a person like myself from having to many items on the windshield. Without this I'd have- Radar Detector, Phone, toll tag, and gps, way to many things, phone being the largest of them all. Anyway, I'll take some pictures and maybe a mini review later. I highly recommend to anyone who want a good out of the way docking solution.

thanks! I'd love to see pictures. I have an '08 civic ex... by looking at my dash, it seems like it would sit above all my controls and only cover up that little screen that shows the radio station and the time.
