Problems with updated Google Maps - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

Hi! fellow p6200 users. Has anyone noticed a direction problem when using an update Maps application?
I am using the stock honeycomb OS.
Using the maps application that came preinstalled, the directions are normal. it follows where i am facing regardless of portrait or landscape.
problem is, I have observed several maps updates already, and even the latest one would have the error of having the wrong direction faced when in the google maps app.
I would often be 90 to 180 degrees off, so it sometime shows me facing a completely opposite direction!
when I uninstall the updates and go back to the stock Google Maps, everything is ok. the directions were correct. Is there anyone having the same problem? Was this fixed in ICS?

Google Maps Strange

Used the Maps application
Noticed something. Its been a long time since I used this app. Anyhow, the app is acting strange. When I rotate to landscape, Maps will not rotate with landscape and stays in Portrait.
It wouldn't bother me so much but when GPS Driving is provided, it stays stuck in Portrait and navigation is displayed as Landscape.
The Potrait/Landscape isn't properly working.
I'm on CM 175 nightly.
Is anyone else having similar problem?
Make sure you have auto rotate enabled.
Yeah my maps has been acting weird too, it'd been showing the wrong location since I updated :-(
HOTLANTA, even though its cold ;-)
Make sure you are not using an app that uses the gyros. I have noticed that my screebl app is keeping my phone from auto rotating on any cm7 based rom I can not use screebl.

[Q] Compass not working in CM7?

Hello, I'm using fjfalcon's CM7 (2012-05-06). I noticed the other day the compass doesn't seem to work. In Google Maps, I get a location but no orientation, and in c:geo (a geocaching app) I get location but it assumes I'm facing North.
I also downloaded a few compass apps (Compass and Smart Compass) and neither of those got a reading (assumed I was facing North).
Does anyone else have the same issue?

I just tried doing that for a while and it didn't have any effect. One thing I noticed is in the video the demonstrator's compass moved. Mine stays locked at North no matter what I do.
I've always had luck doing the calibration moves with Ulysse Gizmos

Just tried using that app. No results. I also tried calibrating while using GPS Status & Toolbox and got no results.

Gravity sensor suddenly stopped working

Hi, it appears that recently the gravity sensor in my Nexus 5 stopped working.
At least it is what it seems by using sensor testing apps. And this makes it impossible for the phone to get its orientation (compass is not working).
Screen rotation is still working fine though.
Here is what happened exactly: not long ago I was using Google Maps, but the phone was a bit sluggish so I decided to reboot it.
After rebooting I opened Google Maps again and immediately noticed that the orientation indicator was missing (the blue "beam"), while it was present before the reboot. But I didn't care about it, and just thought that the compass needed re-calibration.
After a few days the orientation indicator was still missing, and the phone never asked me to re-calibrate, as it used to do before instead.
Then one day I launched Google Sky Map, and noticed that the view does not rotate automatically.
So I fired up a sensor test app I had installed (asd.vector.sensor), and no data is displayed for the Gravity sensor. Also orientation is not displayed and the info says that the gravity sensor is used to compute orientation, too.
Other sensors are ok, and as I already wrote screen rotation still works great.
Any clues about this issue? Did anyone ever experience this?
I'm afraid a system restore would not help...
I'm using Resurrection Remix ROM, Android 6.0.1.
Thanks.
If the problem exists on a stock ROM, it could be a hardware fault.

Ok yes, but I still do not know if it exists on a stock ROM.
Taking it the other way around... Do you think there is real possibility that it is a software fault?
I mean: did it ever occur to anyone? Is there really any hope that resetting my phone to stock will fix this?
I HATE having to reset my phone...
Thank you.
I stopped using custom roms a while ago because of minor problems that would suddenly appear.
I don't think there is a way to really tell if it is software or hardware unless you reset or use a stock ROM.

Well, that's a little hope at least.
I will need to find some time to re-stock my Nexus and try.
Thanks .
Ok, I restored the phone to stock and all sensors work again now!
Thanks audit13 for pushing me in that direction .
That's great that it was a software bug in the custom ROM.
Now you get to hunt for a custom ROM that works with a minimal or zero number of issues

Compass issues

Hi guys,
I have this phone now since launch and it is for me a good phone. But now i realized something that is annoying me.
In the specs is written that the phone has a compass, when i open a navigation app or compass app nothing works that show me the direction the phone shows.
Has somebody information to fix this?
I found a solution (temporary?) for this.
I restarted in the save mode, then it works.
Then i started again normally and still working.
Maybe the cause is an app. Will see when it happens the next time, but for now i just let it.

What compass application are you trying?
I've not ran into any issues with compass on my One Vision.

I tried with google maps, here go, and 4-5 compass apps just to test. Usually i don' t need any compass app, so i installed any i have seen in google store.
For now it is working, read my posting above.

Anyone got problems with the compass?

Using Google maps for navigation. Seems to work well until I turn a corner. Then usually the arrow remains at a 90 degree angle to the direction in heading. Anyone else have this problem? Is there are fix or a calibration?

I had a similar issue to this on the first day of using, I simply force stopped Google Maps, cleared cache & data and it's been flawless since, hope this helps!
