Nexus JelLy bean Custom roms - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey everyone, now that there are afew custom roms for jelly bean.
Which JB rom works well for u and why?
i hope this will help current ics users who want to get to jb to have a better understanding on the current roms.

Current ROM is in my signature. I'm very minimal when it comes to stuff and really only install ROMs from 3 different devs on this site. No issues at all, boost in performance, normal battery life.

Michael Campos is doing some cool stuffz. just updated 2 of his roms .
he has a cm10 port here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1784473
and a clean version (updated today) here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782886

and i would also say the NS4g devs are tending to stick together. (at least until the ota comes out) (or cm10 for crespo4g)

Hello
Have anyother the same issue, that swiftkey isnt longer the default input method, i have this problem with jelly belly also with brainmasters jelly bean rom!

All the dev are doing a good job with their Rom, just have to try them all.

Make sure you have it selected as the default keyboard. I used it with no issues. Have you posted in the respective ROM threads?

Yes i have selected as default keyboard for sure! But after everey reboot i have to do this again! Ok, no because whitout 10 posts it is not possible to post in the ROM threads

Yes, the same here with Swype and Jelly Belly. Need to set it after each reboot. Maybe that's a general JB bug. Please update if you find a solution.

Jelly Beans Rom for Galaxy FIT

Is this possible to port Jelly Beans (Android 4.1) for Galaxy FIT as the source code of JB is released???
its already done! -_- check out the developement section CM10
its already out but i suggest u dont flash that cause it is very unstable and crashes a lot. Lets wait for a more stable release
Better wait for a stable release
Edward Cullen
I think it best to finish ICS since it's only one bug. By the time that's done, I'm guessing JB will have the same problem therefore, it should take lesser time.
Try jelly bean. it's not stable for fit but awesome. Already I'm using it:thumbup:

I have entered the thinking bog regarding miui. Galaxy nexus could work to port it from, but nexus 7 got miui jelly bean, so it might be possiblee, no resizing, only difference is dual-quad core
Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk 2
Oops...and I thought MIUI is not available for Tablets. My bad
If you could Port MIUI Jelly Bean then nothing compares to it. Best ROM out there by miles

Wouldn't this difference be automatically managed by kernel ?
I would like to see a ROM that will support HDMI out through the adapter.
I don't know if the info could be pulled from a 7.7 ROM or not? Thoughts?
I'd help if I could, but my programming experience is very limited....
Please port paranoid android to this. It has many UI modes which we need.
MIUI ROM FTW.....only if any of the Chef/Dev can port it

[Q] What ROMs can I choose from?

Hi, just bought a GS3 Verizon. I want it rooted, and working without well known bugs.(GPS, calling, almost no bugs) I prefer 4.1 jelly bean. What ROM should I choose? The ROM based on the leaked VZW ROM?

Stock deodexed j1 touchwiz...if you look around you can manually add what mods you want. I prefer this over flashing the custom touchwiz rom variants....seems less buggy and smoother imo.

I've been having good luck with Synegy's latest. Smooth, good performance, good battery, and just enough added functionality over stock to make it work well.
I liked clean rom, jellywiz, and my current rom tasteofbeans 3.1. They all were :good:

What about using separate mods makes it less buggy?

Because you flash them 1 at a time and if you flash one and it made everything bug out you can just nandroid back. If your on a ROM with a crap load of tweaks and mods and something goes wrong you're just screwed until the dev can figure out which mod he added is causing the problems. A lot of the time the mod bugs are left alone until all the big bugs are worked out and then they track down what's causing the smaller bugs

[Q] Most Complete Least Buggy JB ROM?

I've been playing around flashing new ROM's and they all seem to have issues. Does anyone know which JB ROM has the least amount of issues?

That's subjective. If there was one be all and end all least buggy and "best" ROM I imagine we all would be running it.
What I consider an issue may not be that big of a thing at all for you. Some phones play with each ROM a little differently as well and some bugs may affect yours that don't affect mine.
So you are already doing the best thing flashing and seeing what works best for you and with your phone. The OP of each ROM should tell you major issues affecting each: video not working, torch a little wonky, etc. So that will help you whittle it down a little. Other than that welcome to fun of flashing.

Well it doesn't hurt to ask the opinions of others so long as we all realize that they're opinions and not concrete absolute truths. Right now I'm running the LiquidSmooth R8 ROM and anything that uses voice input crashes. This means JP Google Search is borked! Now is this just my issue? Would a re-flash fix it or is it a known issue? Inquiring minds wanna know....

Ive been running CM10 mainly its super smooth and has good battery life. Remics JB rom is really good also
I've never really used voice input, so Im not going to be the greatest help there. Reflashes do clear up some issues, wouldn't hurt. Maybe even a fresh download of the ROM. If you havent already try inquiring in that particular ROMs thread, to see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing. Good luck
Edit:
If its google search it may be your gapps, make sure you have the most current.

It's definitely Google Search because the crash message says Google Search has stopped even when I'm just using voice to send texts...

No I haven't , I once tried CM10 from scott. really an amazing rom but i was having lots of problems, while flashing the gaps,
I was doing may be wrong but i was flashing the right things i know, but well somehow i was not able to flash the rom properly, so I flashed this one , its only been a week, i am on this one.
But yes i will definitely give it a shot.
Is this one a complete daily driver ?
Little bugs doesn't matter(it depends) at all, stock had millions of them.!!
I am on 4.1.2 JB, If Slim bean is coming up with 4.2 I am going to try it for sure
Right now really happy with Liquid Smooth.

I see .. just exploring the Rom,
Looks quite awesome man!
Surely going to try it in a day or two.
Thanks for sharing
The thing you have to remember about these JB roms on our Infuse is that we are still using a modded GB kernel. Samsung as far as I know (I could be wrong) hasn't released the kernel source code for our device and it's making it very hard for them to update the kernel. I use Scott's CM10 4.2.1 right now and it's basically been bug free. It doesn't even have all the CM source code merged into it yet. I've never had a rom with so much free memory before! I think it's amazing what he is doing with our old device and he deserves MAJOR props and donations for all his efforts!

Yeah its slim bean that I have personally built from source. I really have zero bugs and use it as my daily driver. I mean it has the same bugs as any jb ROM because we all compile from Scotts cm10 build. Its the exact same as CM 10 except with a TON of custom features! I'm currently working on a 4.2.1 version that looks to hopefully be my smoothest yet. Check it out and lemme know what you think

Best ROM threads are frowned upon since the answer is subject to the users opinion and varies according to each person's habits and needs. They're all great in their own right, and worthy of your consideration. It won't hurt to try them all and form your own opinion. You'll most likely learn a lot in the process, and that's always a good thing.
Brought to you by time and relative dimensions in space.
Yeah. As said above, you should try and find it yourself. Bugs are usually mentioned in the OP itself. So it'll be easy to know which are the bugs.
IMO, cm10.1 with kexec. That's what I'm running on since more than a month now. No major bugs. Some have black screen issue. But I'm lucky to not have that
thanks everyone for your opinions. i think i would try cm10.1 with kexec first. is this the right thread..?
