where did you get cm10 for the vzw phone? I thought it was for all of the other phones but vzw? Try going back to stock non root. try flashing the modems in the thread about this one.

Flash the stock tar.md5 from here: http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=scH-i535
Whatever you flashed put a custom kernel on there, and that's why you get that message.

I have tried to odin stock and then wipe. still showing no data connection, and same thing when I put my wifes sim in. IM thinkiing it has something to do with the dual boot i had set up before. is there a way to repartion the internal sd card or emmc?
This seems to be happening to a lot of people flashing AOSP ROMs....this is why they warn you they are not responsible for what happens to your phone...especially with Betas.
There are many threads on this and several on how to get a workaround until someone figures out how to fix this.
Try doing a search on losing IMEI or roaming after flashing CM10...it is happening a lot...that is why I am just using rooted stock with VZW apps and TW frozen.
this problem I was having with no data or radio in CM10.
I used ODIN to go back to stock rooted (root 66).
When I did that I was boot looping in the puking rainbows 4GLTE boot animation.
I eventually figured out how to fix that by booting into recovery (press volume up, home button, and power button at the same time till phone boots). I then did a wipe data/factory reset.
My phone then booted fine into stock root.
I then proceeded to punch in *2767*3855# into my dialer immediately when I got stock root working. That did some sort of a factory reset / format. It all happened so quick I could barely read what it told me. The phone rebooted after a while.
I then downloaded EZ-Recovery for VZW Galaxy S3 app from the Play store.
I installed the custom recovery from Dhacker's CM10 post over on the droidhive forums using EZ recovery.
I also downloaded the CM10 file to flash and the Jelly Bean Google Apps file.
Rebooted into recovery, Wiped data/cache/dalvik.
Installed the CM10 file.
Installed the Jelly Bean apps.
Reboot.
Profit.
I now have a largely functional CM10 (as far as I can tell there are some camera issues). Data 3G/4G is working, so are calls and text and everything is dandy.
Did the *27 bla bla thing posted above and back to normal. Thanks everyone

A lot of people have been having problems with flashing CM10.1 and the SlimBean 4.2.1 beta. This guide will tell you how to fix the data. At first it looks like you lost your IMEI, but you probably didn't. It is a simple fix.
What you will need:
Odin: http://samsung-updates.com/Odin307.zip
Stock Rom: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wjaifmod7d78lt0/stock.vzw_root66.tar
Instructions:
1. Go into Odin put the stock rom into the PDA part and make sure the check mark next to it is checked.
2. Boot into Download mode by hitting Volume Down + Power + Home
2. Make sure only "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" are checked under options (if not you can seriously mess up your phone).
3. Flash the stock rom using Odin.
4. Once it says pass in Odin take your phones battery out and boot into recovery by hitting Volume Up + Power + Home.
5. Hit wipe data/factory reset (your phone should restart)
6. Hit the bottom left then right then left then right then volume up to pass activation.
7 Then type *2767*3855# into the phone once you set it up (you shouldn't have to press call).
Now you phone should be fixed, and you should be able to root, unlock your boot loader and try again.
Tip:
When flashing SlimBean 4.2.1 beta 1 and CM10.1 use a dirty flash over a 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 rom.
- Dirty flash is when you don't clear your data before you flash.
thanks
Trying this now, I have been working all day to fix this.
I first ran into problems yesterday, cm10 ran out of room, removed a bunch of stuff( my back ups). Did some flashing and reverting and such. Now i seem to be stuck in roam mode.
Questions: What is the point of step 5?
It just says to load into recovery then next step is once the phone is loaded.
There is no step 6.

Sorry I'll fix that I was in a rush to get this finished before work.
This works!
But if you are still interested in CM10.1 you can still flash it with data working!
I decided to go out on a limb and tried going from ICS (VRALG1_odex) rooted/unlocked (after using provision code and getting data back) to CM10.1. To my surprise I found I flashed fine and had data!
I highly suggest using this ROM (http://www.sundergaming.com/downloads/sch-i535/tw/VRALG1_Odex.zip) as it uses its own UI when flashing it from recovery and will keep both ROOT and UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER when installing.
My guess is the problem seems to lie somewhere between a tw rom 4.1.1 JB and cm10.1
Luckly I don't have to deal with this and everything rolled over perfectly for cm10.1
Wow, I wished you had posted this before I returned my phone to the store for a warranty replacement!
Would have saved me a few days of agony, flashing and re-flashing that's for sure. Thanks for sharing though! It's good to know there is a fix for this.
You don't have to do this. This happened to me. Flash cm10.1 without any g apps. This will take u past the activation screen. Go into settings and change mobile network settings to SIM and automatic. Reboot phone. Make sure you have data, phone, and sms. Boot into recovery and flash away. U should have everything back on whatever Rom u choose.

Sorry I posted this in general and android development because I wasn't sure witch one it was, and when I fixed that I forgot to fix it here but I did now.
I can confirm this worked for me!
But, I couldn't get passed the activation screen in order for me to dial the code to reset phone so what I had to do was tap on the bottom of the screen as follows= Tap Left -Tap Right- Tap Left- Tap Right- then Volume up to get out of activation screen then was I able to dial the code to reset my phone. Thank you for this guide op!!!!
i wish i would have seen this yesterday. after trying to flash CM10.1 and getting stuck in roaming for a day in a half, i had to return mine to Costco and get a new one.

not necessarily. I did this and I was stuck in roaming but all I had to do was go into wireless settings/mobile network settings and make sure my preferred network was set to LTE/CDMA
you can do all this while your phone is trying to activate.

I tried flashing 4.2.1 ROM just to check it out before putting my phone back to stock for a replacement and it borked my network. I tried the method mentioned in the OP and it works great, thanks.
Thank you so much.....you saved my butt and now my phone is working again. Guess I should stop flashing a new rom every couple weeks.
I was running slim 4.2.1 for quite some time with no problems, i loved it. I flashed 4.2.2 and my phone got stuck in NV and my phone number would come up as 000-000-3370. On first boot everything seems to be fine except that i get an error when i try to open up the play store. On my next boot is when I would see these problems. I tried everything from dirty flashing from a working 4.2.1 rom to completely formatting everything, even my external sd, and the same thing happens. This happens with every 4.2.2 rom out there. When i reboot i get stuck on the activating screen and my phone will get stuck in NV and ruim/sim wont stick no matter what i do. i don't know what else to do. someone please help!
It isn't a rom issue it is an S 3 issue that randomly occurs when flashing ROMs. You will have to flash the stock rom and reprovision your phone. I know because it has happened to me twice and both times it was with a Touchwiz ROM. You should have backed up your IMEI just in case this happens.
my imei is backed up. but why is it only 4.2.2 roms that do this?
I was able to flash back to a 4.2.1 Rom, namely pure Google for now, with no problems. but when I flash any 4.2.2 Rom the same thing happens.
All 4.2 ROMs used to do this to me.
However.
Only also happened when I flashed miui.
Now I run liquid smooth and haven't had the problem since.
sent from that young galaxy.
God bless the American people!
do u guys think I should Odin back to stock, then root, unlock, and try to flash 4.2.2?
Actually, there is an easier way
I have had this happen numerous times and it lef me to mess with my phone a little bit. I originally thought that setting it to CDMA/SIM and then rebooting would fix the problem, but I found a simpler solution to that. The last time I encountered the problem I simply set the phone to RUIM/SIM under mobile networks and then Turned on airplane mode for a few seconds then turned it off and I found my number under phone settings and everything. Try that and let me know how it goes.
Edit: Sorry, the term is RUIM/SIM, not CDMA/SIM. My bad.
hmmm, I'll definitely give that a shot later on tonight.
well I tried it, it works. but only temporarily. once I reboot it reverts back to how it was. any other thoughts?

Settings->About->Status
Don't need the number, just to know if you have it there....
Also do you still have Root/Unlocked bootloader?
yes, i have an imei. i lost it once before so now its backed up, i'll never make that mistake again. it was a nightmare trying to get it back. and yes, i am rooted and unlocked.

Have you done a complete factory restore through Odin? You would lose root and unlocked bootloader, but it may be faster to restore to stock, and reroot/mod than to try to find an "easy" fix. I was having some issues the other day in between a few ROM's, but I just factory restored, and restarted from "scratch". Now I am running perfect.
You may have already tried, but on page 1 you asked if you should, and I did not see a confirmation you did so.
Had the same problem... And yes, the phone must be reprovisioned. Although sometimes you can just adjust the network settings and change it from NV. That worked for me also.

Hi,
I have a rooted VZW S3 and have been running Jelly Beans build 20 for a while now. Wanting to give a 4.3 rom a try I loaded up MOAR 7.1. Wiped everything, I possibly could without wiping my SD card. Flashed the rom, no problems. Booted it up, no problems. Then if I do a reboot, even after it has sat for a while without me doing anything to it, I get stuck on the Samsung SIII screen. I can do a battery pull and go to TWRP then wipe and get back to my Jelly Beans, but I'd like to give MOAR 7.1 a try. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Here is another user solved the issue, take from the thread:
"What I did was upgrade my recovery with Goo, I removed the SD card, I wiped the internal memory (not sure if this is necessary but what the hell), factory wiped, installed 7.1, once the phone booted up I logged in to gmail, let it sync, didn't install anything else and rebooted just to make sure it reboots fine, and it worked. Then I installed all my apps with TB without data, just the apps. That is what I did. I had the same problem as you for two days and was frustrated but then I read that if you upgrade your recovery it would work fine. I am assuming you are trying to wipe cache and it is telling you that it can't be mounted, that is another problem I was having, so I am assuming that by wiping the internal memory it cleared that problem up. I hope this helps you out. Hopefully someone here can either back up what I am saying or call me crazy and help you out. Good luck."

I was never able to get the WiFi to work, so I switched roms and was able to get everything working on Wicked. Thanks for all the help.
This is my first post and I'm not sure where to put it but I hope this is right.
I'm kinda new to flashing ROMs and was trying to flash one using safestrap on my GS3. I couldn't find one that worked and went back to my stock ROM. In the stock ROM cell service completely died and wouldn't work, to combat this problem I removed all ROMs, ROM slots, and wiped the stock ROM cache. Nothing. So then I restored to my nandroid backup I made yesterday and that deleted my OS. Now when I boot it just gets stuck at the second Samsung boot logo (there the first one that just says "Samsung" and "unlocked", then the second on says "Galaxy SIII" or something) now I have no OS and I'm not sure how to fix this, can I get some help please?
Okay, I got the stock firmware installed but I still have no service anywhere. Any ideas?

First thing I would do is make sure your imei is still present in the about phone section. If it is, move on to the next step.
I would go completely back to stock, Odin flash either the stock 4.3 or 4.4 image depending on which you were on. If you're unsure, post what it says in download mode.
If you do that and you still have no service, then go to verizon and get a new sim card. Flashing a new modem wouldn't fix this situation.

I'm having issues with my Galaxy S6. I used Odin to return to stock, and now I'm getting an "Unfortunately, IMS Service has stopped" error every 2 or 3 seconds. The phone is essentially unusable.
Other Galaxy phones have had similar issues, and I've tried some of their suggestions. I wiped Media Storage and factory reset the phone through the recovery. I tried to find the DRM app to wipe, but it's not there in the app manager. Does anybody have any suggestions? They are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Im having that same issue. I bricked my phone for about a week and I had just got the tar files to open and return my device to stock. Is it saying you have service? Ive been looking this up everywhere and have no luck with the s6 problem.

Why did you return to stock? If you are planning to return/exchange the phone, then you may run into trouble if it is unusable.
3 options:
1. Attempt to reflash stock via Odin and hope it fixes the problem.
2. Restore a nandroid.
3. Clean flash a custom rom.

Android lollipop gives you the option to transfer your apps to a new device when you setup the new device. You are also given this option when you flash a custom lollilop rom, because the setup wizard will see this as a new device. However, you should always make a backup of a good working rom setup prior to flashing a new rom or any mods. When I say a "good working rom ", I mean a rom that you might possibly want to go back to, in case your next rom flash doesn't go well or it has major issues that prevent you from using it as a daily driver (which you won't know until you flash it, obviously). The stock rom is definitely a "good working rom", and you should ALWAYS make a backup of stock before flashing anything else.
Since you don't have a backup of stock, then you are stuck with Odin getting you back to bone stock, which apparently isn't quite doing the job. The only other thing I can suggest is flashing a stock rooted rom (eg, no mods other than root). But make sure you clean flash, which also means mounting & wiping /system in recovery. I forgot how to do it in CWM/Phil's recovery, but in TWRP go to Mount, tap /system then go back to the main menu, go to Wipe > Advanced and select cache, dalvik cache, data and system, then swipe to erase. Now you have a totally clean slate.

Ive tried looking online for software thats compatible with my carrier (cricket) but I couldnt find it. The way that I bricked my phone was trying to flash TWRP recovery on my phone. Cricket is through at&t and has the locked bootloader. I used pingpong root to root it but apparently it wasnt compatible with my phone. I'm kinda stuck.

I have never messed with Cricket phones. I know they piggyback on the AT&T network, but I don't know if the firmwares are different. You could go to a Cricket store and look at the display S6 to find out the exact firmware version, and try to find that on the web (posting in the AT&T forum might yield a faster response). But trying to flash TWRP was not a good idea. Good luck!
I was attempting to return the phone to stock so I could sell it. I flashed the Cricket firmware, and ever since then I get the IMS service error. I can't flash a new ROM because I unrooted through Pingpong Root. When I flash through Odin, I only flash the AP .tar. Would it make a difference if I flashed all 4 (BL, AP, CP, CSC)?

Yes it does make a difference to flash it into 4 different parts in case you have the entire firmware
Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in here, i woke to this lovely issue, which was rendering my phone unusable. I use a program call YouMail for voicemail, creeps my friends out when they get to my voice mail. Uninstall this program after wiping every cache imaginable, voila, no more issue. I haven't tried to reinstall it yet since i need to get some work done. Hope it helps in some way.
I have the same problem after flashing the stock firmware thru Odin on my S6 from Cricket. I also tried Factory Resert and Wiping the Cache, nothing seems to help at all. I get the annoying message about the IMS service. I've tried clearing the cache from contacts, ims service but no luck at at. Is there any other ROMs out there for the S6 from Cricket. Right now my phone is completely stock and has no service. Any word of advice would help, Thanks !
Edit: I flashed the CSC file thru odin and it got rid of the IMS error but now I have no service.

Not an expert in any sense of the term, so ignore this if it's dumb. When the OP and others having this issue are bringing your phones back up, does the issue start prior to phone setup? Or is your Google account restoring some app that could be causing the issue?
it didnt solve my problem
I have the s6 edge though ..do i have to wipe and install the rom again??
Unfortunately ims has stopped working pop up
I noticed the spinning sync icon at the top my s7 phone. It was constantly trying to sync my messengers app to the cloud. (I tuned the sync function off an it seems to have stopped the annoying message from popping up. :good::fingers-crossed:
