Recently got a Sony Ericsson LiveView watch and was hoping someone got Kik Messenger Notifications working on it. I have tried the Custom Notifier Plugin from the Android Market, which is currently enabled for GMail and Kik, but it doesn't send anything. (First time I tried it though, it sent a Skype notification saying I was online, but I haven't gotten it to work for anything else yet.)
Anyway, I've searched high and low and was hoping this device was still being worked with.

Hi, i am no dev, sorry if this is the wrong section, but i realized that inside of Android 2.2 sdk or something there is the new C2DM Service. Even Google says that it could work very well for instant messages like this:
C2DM makes no guarantees about delivery or the order of messages. So, for example, while you might use this feature to tell an instant messaging application that the user has new messages, you probably would not use it to pass the actual messages.
http://code.google.com/intl/de-DE/android/c2dm/index.html
i searched for an app, which uses C2DM for instant messaging for serveral IM networks like icq, msn etc, but didnt found anything... all the messengers like ebuddy, meebo etc don't use this new push notification which should save a lot of battery, if the device gets pushed about new messages and only than the devices download the message from the server
what do you think about it?
PS: sorry for my crap english
Hopefully this new service will solve all the issues we have with the current crop of instant messengers and their frequent disconnection. This is one feature I miss from my old iPhone
i guess most developers of messaging apps are already working hard to incorporate c2dm into their clients. since froyo is still verry young and there is only one device yet that is officially running it, the use for this would have been verry smale yet. but im sure in a few weeks we will have lots of messaging apps using this feature.
Thread moved to General.

new Google Talk in FroYo already uses C2DM, other messengers are likely to follow in several months as more phones get FroYo
How is life going? Froyo is about 6 months old, 36 % running Froyo, and the only C2DM-using apps I know are Whatsapp, Jumpnote and Chrome To Phone. I know Google is holding several C2DM presentations.
I'm still missing a IM-app, soccer scores app and so on. Are there any developers working on this? Or is it hard to obtain acces for Google C2DM?
Triilian im and beejive im are using c2dm

Hi Guys,
Just wondering if anyone knows how to get the Android to read my emails to me?
I've tried using both Gmail, and the mail application and can't get it to use Text To Speech.
Is this something that needs the application to be specifically designed for TTS, and if so are their any applications around that support it. (Although I find it hard to believe that Google's own flagship mail apps don't.. but I've been known to be wrong before... or so my wife tells me)
Cheers
Adza
So my first proper smart phone was the Palm Pre Plus with WebOs on Verizon. Have to say it is a good OS but i am glad i have uprated to Android. The only thing i miss is the integration of MMS - SMS - and Google Talk (or yahoo, msn, etc.) in the default Messaging app. I have looked in the Android app store to no avail and was wondering if there was anyone of the Droid experts round here working on something like this? I would think if the WebOs guys figured it out then Android couldn't be to far behind! THX!
I'm getting rather frustrated with the whole Facebook and Android experience. I have used the official Facebook app, Flow for Facebook, which became FriendCaster and the Facebook Notifications app.
We all know the official app only works sometimes for notifications. FriendCaster and the notifications app work better, however not 100%.
For about the past three weeks now, whenever I would post a link on my wall and someone would comment on it, I would receive an email from Facebook saying so, but would never get a push notification of it on either FriendCaster Pro (using Gmail or K9 Push), or Facebook Notifications.
If someone commented on a regular Wall post I made (no links), those comments will come to the applications as push notifications.
I just don't understand what the difference is between a comment on a regular Wall post and a comment on a link Wall post. I figure since both apps fail to receive notifications of comments on the latter, that it must be something on Facebook's end.
Would someone with a greater knowledge of all things Android, Facebook and push have any insight on this?
Thank you.
Facebook Push Notifications
I'm no expert in Facebook or even Android (I'm a noob). However, I have heard the same exact issues on iphone, blackberry, and windows phones. I must agree that this is no doubt a facebook issue. I carry both an Android for pleasure and a Blackberry for work. I have tried the application on both personally and have experienced the lack of reliable notifications on both operating systems.
Hope that helps!
Lance
I remember the notifications being very reliable with the BlackBerry app. Perhaps I'm remembering through rose tinted glasses. I wish FB were like Twitter, where the notifications just worked.
There has been an article on portle about this and how people who had crackburrys previous should get the same reliability as previous check if still have bb authorised in fb as that was what some users found solved problem, I find issues with notifications not just limited to fb as g+ can be the same wonder if just a problem regarding process and sleep of device.

Thanks for the info guys!! It has been a while since I tried facebook with the old blackberry so maybe the issues I had got ironed out. If I ever try it again on there I will make sure facebook has access.
Thanks,
Lance
Had anyone installed the new messenger yet? It works for me except when I try to attach a picture... messenger FC's. Anyone have success with it yet?
its on the play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.messaging
I have been using it as my daily text about for about a week now and it works flawless.
Works for me very well. You should check your settings or try to delete your cache or something. Did you set it as your default sms/mms app?
I deleted the version I got from the forums and installed the play store version and all problems went away.
Anyone having problems receiving long texts or pictures with Messenger?
I Like it but...
I used messenger for a little bit, but for my personal preference I prefer to have my messenger and hangout integrated into one. That's the reason I was stoked when hangouts came out with SMS integrated. Other than that it is an amazing app.
I can receive pictures and group texts with 5.0 messenger but I cannot receive regular text! I've been working on this for a while, any help is appreciated!
