[Q] Has anyone found a way to enable UMS in JB

Has anyone been able to use UMS in JB? I tried the scripts that worked for ICS and ever changed them some to get JB to mount the SD card but it shows up as a cd-rom drive on my pc so i can't transfer files to the phone.
Anyone?

Install the proper drivers for our phone. MTP is all you will get, I believe it is a hardware thing. Because the phone is missing some hardware for the internal SD card to get into UMS

Is this different from ICS because before the update I was able to mount the sdcard for UMS on my pc

Expanding USB Storage? I don't know how, but if you say swap SD Card with external SD Card, i know how (maybe).
Try using Topdroid's vold.fstab tweak, maybe that will work. If you are on CM10, i can give the app that always work.
Its okay now, cm9 has an option to basically set the ext SD as USB storage

Certain basics
You don't have cwm in a Rom zip
/data.. internal memory
/system... system memory.. this is where your Rom is
/boot... kernel is here
/recovery... independent of all other partitions and can be flashed either in Android using flash image binary or fastboot..
Google what other recoveries you have for your phone.. it should be in index /sticky for your phone in your forum thread.

if can't solve by clean flashing, it is high possibility that chip is faulty, this is hardware issue.

This thing happened a month ago and broke a memory card for me but the issue is that i have had the phone for a year and couple of months if its a hardware issue shouldnt it have happened earlier ?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
you have answer ur own question..lol
think..memory card own do not supply own power to operate. the phone does. why your memory card broken? the phone brack it. why still the card be use in normal, thats complicated. intermediate current or voltage supply to the card may cause this. same principal as some phone can oc 1.3ghz some can't.

Micro SD card displaying less space

Hey, I recently added the supernexus rom to my galaxy s3 however when it formatted my 62gb micro SD I now only have about 26gb... Considerably less!
I downloaded sdcard formatter 4 and had no luck (or don't know how to use it correctly) and I have downloaded a partition manager however couldn't see that it had been split into different partitions.
Now I turn to this forum for help. Anyone got any ideas or solutions?

[Q] Does the Note 12.2 generate enough power to run mass storage devices

Does the Note 12.2 generate enough power to run self powered mass storage devices? or we have to use powered USB Hub ?
My note pro doesn't run any kind of mass storage devices ( I'm not rooted )
One says external power needed and the other one keep ticking .
my Note 3 run them with no problems.
any one with note pro pls test and advice back.

I tried one on my NotePro but no joy: but, then I can't even get a flash drive to mount. The drive works fine with my older Xoom. With the NotePro it doesn't even power up.

Which USB ptg cable do you have? I have a couple of different ones. I managed to get one of them to let me connect my dive computer and download, but not any of the drives.
I have one that converts the USB 3.0 micro B to a standard USB. It seems to be pretty good. It is a solid piece instead of a cable, but it doesn't work with anything, including my dive computer.

Did you try to use Mass storage before rooting? as one of the posters mentioned that root will give extra permission to fire mass storage with out external power? he said root and instal stick mount / folder mount and enjoy.
I'm afraid to root before making sure that it is not a hardware problem as service center in our area don't know Even that we can mount mass storage device.

I did not try before root as it is the very first thing I did right after peeling off the plastic and powering it up. What is your reservation about rooting?

I dont have any?? I rooted mine as soon as it was available. I was just making sure the answer provided before hand had taken into account that the original posters hard drive was not powered by its own power source. It wasn't clear from the answer I quoted beforehand. I dont see the point in any android device without root.

I agree root is a must but once root warranty will void so i need to make sure that device is free off hardware problems (which I'm not sure).
