P6201 - Can upgrade to ICS? - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

I am just wondering if the P6201 uses different firmware from the standard P6200 ?
or whether I can upgrade to ICS using the standard P6200 firmware.
My baseband version is: P6201 XXLA2
It seems ICS can be loaded on the GT-P6200L
(The GT-P6201 version is the German version of the Galaxy tab 7.0 plus (3g & Wifi),
which had to have a different cover (due to apple and copyright infringement)).
Any thoughts?

hope there is a chance, though my wife doesnot really care

you can always try.... but incase problem arise like the austria firmware for p6200 doesn't work good... prepare the original firmware for p6201 first

Hi Folks, i have successfully upgraded my P6201 to ICS, cause the hardware of this device and the P6200 is identical. But you have in your mind, that after updating the device hangs up in the samsung boot logo. In this case, you have to reboot your device in recovery mode (Vol up + Pwr) and execute a full wipe data/factory reset.

ICS for GT-P6201?

Hi dudes,
i waited nearly a year for an update. But I see a new ROM on sammobile.com but its for devices P6201XXLPC.
In the description there is no android version number.
My phone is P6201XXLA2 the only one without an ICS update... Anyone tried to use the new ROM?
Or can anyone help me?
mfg Florian
I downloaded the Brit version and it worked fine except I couldn't access any US services, like OTA updates or Kies. I just flashed the US ICS and it fixed all that. If you are rooted then you won't get any OTA updates, near as I can tell. I went to this site http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=GT-P6210&pcode=XAR&os=1&type=3#firmware and downloaded the Cellular South 4.0.4 firmware (it's US) and flashed it using Odin and it corrected the issues I had with OTA connectivity and such. Give that a shot and don't hesitate to get ahold of me if you have any questions.

Install a custom ROM with locked bootloader via ClockworthMod!?

Hey guys,
I want to install a custom ROM on my Sony Xperia ray, but I'm a noob in this area. I've rooted the phone by these instructions.
Now, I've installed ClockworthMod with x-Parts and made a backup of my current system.
But now, I don't know how to go on ...
I've downloaded CyanogenMod for Xperia ray from the official website and copied the .zip file to the microSD-card.
Then I've chosen it in CWM, but an error (status 7) occured.
So I tried JJ's hybrid ROM, but always it appears only "update aborted".
The file name of JJ's hybrid ROM contains the words "LockedBL" - that means, I can use it also with a locked bootloader - or not?
But the instructions writes that I have to flash the kernel - and for this, I have to unlock the bootloader :/
But I don't want to unlock the bootloader? Or should I do it?
So my question is: How can I install a custom ROM via ClockworthMod with locked bootloader?
Is that possible?
Thank you very much.
Btw: Sorry for my bad English. I recovered my previous system.
---
Hallo Leute,
Hopefully someone else more knowledgeable can chime in but I was under the impression you had to unlock the bootloader regardless.
Thanks for the answer ... I think, you're right. I haven't found another way to install it without unlocking bootloader. So I propably unlock it tomorrow. Do you recommend this?
If you want to install non stock based ROM (CM9/10, AOKP etc) its a must otherwise its entirely up to you.

There are 2 ways this plays:
1 you need a custom kernel, in which case unlocking the bootloader is a must.
2 you need a different kernel, but its a stock kernel. Usually happens when the custom rom is made for a different android version (for example, installing an ics or jb rom, but you have gb). You can flash any OFFICIAL SONY ROM on locked bootloaders with the use of flashtools. Try and update your kernel to the one required by the rom (caution: flashing firmware ereases all data from phone).
@OP Cyanogen Mod can not be installed on a locked bootloader....
it needs a kernel which is provided by the FXP team...which i result in unlocking ur boot loader.
and about JJ hybrid rom..it supports a locked BL...
plz follow proper instructions....and flash it on top of ics.
and make u wipe every thing is CWM...
including-
factory reset
wipe cache
format system
wipe dalvik cache

I am most definitely a noob but have somehow managed to root my xperia sp and install cwm. I was hoping to try some custom roms but have discovered that the bootloader cannot be unlocked. It seems that the only option left is to flash an official sony rom or a rom with a stock kernel. Can you advise me how to flash Jelly Bean 4.3 or ICS using flashtools? And/or how to flash a custom rom with the appropriate stock kernel. I'm asking a lot I suspect - any help much appreciated. Hopefully I will be able offer something back to the forum sometime, although I suspect it might take a while...
Thanks, Andrew
Depending on device .. As per Xperia C has locked bootloader still it has custom roms but ... Kernel stays on what it is for that unlock bootloader is necessary... So if kernel is locked Android version is locked only theming is possible in locked bootloader device.

[Q] GT-P3100 rooten, customrom which way?

Hello guys,
at first I want to say I've reading all related threads and I think being able to do the right things if I would be sure which things.
My problem is that I'm unsure which way I have to use for my device. Pls look at the attached pic and tell my which thread I've to follow and if I have to update before via the ota.
At least for my excuse, I'm from Germany and my english is not as good as it has to be for understanding all posts especially these are written in "online-english".
Kind regards
Andreas.
Root via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1791193
then you can download ROM Manager To install CWM. Form CWM you can flash every CR you want. You are lucky, 4.0.3 has root without increasing the counter.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1677862
is it possible to port so a rom for the htc one s (s4)?
sorry for my english
Wait or Buy
Wait for ROM or just buy a S3.
The Fanbase and developer is greater on Samsung devices, so these ''ports'' are rare on the One S.
However, this is the reason why you have to wait for this kind of ROM. The developers are cooking ROMs not for only ONE user, the goal is the hole users and owners of the 1S with interests for Custom ROMs.
Btw: Booth ROMs (1S and S3) has pro and contra.
i would decide to use the stock ROM from 1S.
ah okay

Android Car Stereos. Anyone seen the Alpha S700 SmartRadio?

Anyone seen one of these things in the flesh, or its predecessor the Alpha S600?
http://www.icar-tech.de/html/products_s700.php
Looks like the holy grail of car stereos... even has a DAB option... but is it any good? On the face of it it's exactly what I'm looking for, but not sure I want to drop £500 to be a guinea pig!
Here's a youtube video, and apparently Android 4.3 is coming soon to this model. It really does look the business, I am tempted!

I have the s730 since a couple of weeks. I think it's a very similar device, only that there is no hardware buttons. Has anyone of you ever tried somehow to upgrade to Andorid 4.2 / 4.3 or even 4.4? Do any of you know how to backup the preinstalled apps? (FM Radio, DAB + Radio, equalizer, etc.)?

It's not as simple as that, unfortunately... you would need to know the hardware base and compile against it. If however some of the excellent brains in here would give it a go, I'd test it...
Hello! Could you add your experiences with s730 there are very few reviews on internet, is it quick? Stable? Any objection!?
