Where do we get Jelly Bean version of the Matr1x kernel?
You don't. It doesn't exist yet. I don't know what happened to patience..

all you gotta do is watch his thread to see what the status update is on his kernels, also read the thread of the JB ROM your flashing to see what other users are saying
reading and searching are key...
Yeah I'm working on a new one so just hold tight
will wait for matr1x kernel for JB

Does anyone a link for it? And if you do, it's compatible with any rom, not just CM9 right?

LMAO Man I needed a good laugh
Not jellybean but the new cm9 kernel... sorry if I'm sounding like an idiot

Bahahahahaha. Hilarious! Seriously though, I think he didn't mean Android 5.0, maybe 5.0 is the kernel build number? I don't know for sure but maybe that's what he meant. Either way this made me laugh my ass off.
OP, a simple search would wield results much quicker than posting a new thread. Good luck.

The cm9 thread says v 4.0.4 v5.0 so that's why I had it. The one on I could find was the one on BMs 4.0.4 stock ICS thread but its not the newest kernel.

download the rom then pull out the boot.img. you can flash it via fastboot or the terminal emulator. i dont know how compatible itll be with other non-cm based roms. if it doesnt boot, just reflash your rom.
Alright the situation is i got a newish phone and plan on giving my nexus S to my parents, right now its running the nightly. I want to be sure they have something stable. So i am looking at either switching it to Cyanogenmod 7.2 or the stock rom. I have heard that they have released 4.1 stock rom for Nexus S, I have not seen it if anyone has a link please comment with it.
My parents are not tech savy but they need a better phone. So Stock or Cyanogen?
The JB Android 4.1 update is very stable. Set them up with that by following the steps given in our nexus s forums. Good luck!

I would recommend Jelly Bean 4.1.1 Stock. Should be totally sufficient + they get to have Google Now
I recommend on CM9.0 RC-2, which is stable and up to date
h ttp://get.cm/?device=crespo&type=RC
I would use a cym 9 rc2 because everything pretty much works and its really fast with the matr1x kernel. It also has great battery life with just enough customization.

I would use the Stock Stock JB Update or the cm9 RC2, but not cm7.2
definitely stock JB. You can download for Widgetsoid 2.x for notification toggles and a battery % widget, and they're set! JB is really feature rich and awesome!
For 4.1 JB I was looking around for a guide for Nexus S 4.1 rooted. My version is I9020XXJK8. I gave seen a few guides but not that many links for the actual zip of JB 4.1. Also how do you update CWM?

Try this. If you have JB then just do the bottom part (superuser, clockworkmod, etc.)

It links you to it second part #1. Google server and the oldblue thread
I have never used a stock rom unless I bought a new phone and was working on installing a custom one, so I'm new to stock roms. I have the stock JB rom and I tried to flash air kernel to my device. As I was booting up, it wouldn't go past the Google splash screen. Are custom kernels not supported on stock roms?
Sent from my A500
I've flashed custom kernels on rooted stock plenty of times. It may just be that Air Kernel is having issues with some phones. I know SimpleKernel works, but it's basically stock with BLN and Voodoo. A few people on JellyBelly ROM had issues with Air Kernel too, so it's not just stock that's having issues with it.
OK. Do you know if matr1x kernel works or not?

okey guys this is a question bugging me what are the exact requirments for ice cream sandwitch and jelly bean
i know that most devices with ics will be compatible with jb too but what are the exact min requirments on which it will be stable
Check the forums for the ROM and it should say. But you need to have a supported phone, something like a g1 would probably not be supported
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda app-developers app
G1 actually supports ICS and there is at least 1 active dev working on JB for D/S.
Anything can technically support it.. it's just a matter if it has good enough hardware to run it as well as it is advertised.

Do you have a link for that? I own a G1 and am running CM 7.2. I'm thinking i'll install cm9 when its stable but if there is a ICS mod i'd give that a try

It'll run on virtually anything. The HTC Desire C comes with ICS as stock and it runs it fine.

Don't. There's a video of it on YouTube, and it is so laggy I don't see how anyone could bear it. Also, screen rotation doesn't work (stuck on landscape). Many other bugs as well.
The G1 is dead. That one ICS ROM was its final breath. There will be no stable CM9, where did youu get that from?

Lol, that was jcarzz's port (wasn't even compiled from source with the correct libs).
There's a CM9 rom (compiled from source) that's pretty stable, but with a few integral things not working.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1647493

Some hardware differences (mt3g has larger nand partition, no kb) but basically the same.. They can even interchange radios and spl's.
On the EaglesBlood website it says that there CM9 build is discontinued but does anyone know if its stable or not? it doesn't say on there download page. Also i know this has been asked many times but what do you guys think is the most stable ICS rom for the G2x in your opinion and why? I've tried EaglesBlood AOSP 4.0.4 and its not too bad and i wanna know if the CM9 build is stable

Until LG officially releases ICS for the G2X, not a single ICS Rom currently out there is "Stable" by how you're using it. There are some GREAT ICS Roms out there for the G2X, but they all share the same problems (No HW Accel for video, Video Recording being bleh, etc.)

I've tried 4 different ICS roms. None are "stable". Some are slow and laggy and others freeze and reboot. GPS doesn't lock quickly either.
Flashed back to stock 2.3.4 rom and everything works as intended.
