Landscape Sense 4 keyboard is messed up? - HTC Sensation

Check out these pictures, whenever I press a letter in landscape mode, it auto-corrects to the letter to the right of it unless I press the letter unnaturally off to the left. Only in landscape, portrait works fine. Other keyboards work fine. Just the sense 4 one. It makes the keyboard useless in landscape though. Anyone else have this issue? Any ideas on how to fix it? I'm on the new viper rom. Wouldn't be a huge issue except for every time I try to type I in landscape mode it changes it to O.

Try and reflash your Rom WITHOUT wipeing. So you don't loose everything. Should fix it. hope I helped

No luck. Same problem. Also, whenever my battery is low, instead of a flashing red light, it's just solid. Why is that? It's happened to me before on sense roms.

Hey, I tested it and it happens when u select hide buttons in landscape.
U should use only hide in portrait , then it works perfectly
Hope I helped!

Sounds like this might be it. When I chose to hide the arrows during the aroma install, it ended up only hiding them for portrait mode. I still have them in landscape mode, and while it'll take getting used to them being there, it doesn't take up any extra space.
Beyond that, maybe you could run the keyboard calibration where it makes you type all the characters.

That did the trick! Thanks, it was driving me nuts. When you disable the arrows it doesn't readjust the touch calibration I guess for prediction. Portrait still works fine though so I'll keep them off there.

Hi,
It would be better to modify the orientation to portrait and then check the box above for "System Persistent". It will gray out the orientation but lock it to any orientation you selected. ADW will no longer auto-rotate, but most apps will still auto-rotate to landscape.
I’m sure it will solve the problem.
that too, good call

[Q] Is my XOOM messed up?

Something really strange is going on......
Whenever I try to use a different launcher, I press the homekey after installing it and my screen will dim... ...and do nothing. So I press the back key to go back to the market and uninstall the crap.
Sorta the same thing happens when I go to Gallery and try to play my movies...
...the screen with dim and nothing will happen. So I press back to go back to the gallery and try it again...
...same damn thing. My movies used to play fine but now they don't....
Whats going on with my XOOM?
Hmmm i havent had any dimming issues (still new with the xoom) Are you using a movie converter app?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
If you've updated to 3.2 this is a known issue I think... known to me anyway, lol.
When you press the home key, you should get the option of which launcher to use but for some reason 3.2 doesn't draw the popup box properly. Anyway, to get round it, hit home, wait for the screen to dim and then switch the Xoom into portrait mode. This will re-draw the popup properly and you should be fine after that as it only seems to be a problem the first time.
could try turning off auto brightness and see if it does they same thing, i have mine always on full brightness it might mean less battery life but with my eyesight i need it bright.

New and with a problem already...I think.

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I left the Blackberry (Bold 9900) world and jumped on board here. So far I LOVE my Mytouch 4g Slide!
I could have sworn that my "home" screen and "all apps" screen would rotate when I turned it sideways without having to slide my phone open. Now it doesn't. I first noticed it when I opened up my Netflix app. I turned the phone sideways to search for a movie and the screen would not rotate. It only rotated when the movie played.
Do your phones rotate on the home screen/all apps screen without sliding it open?
Please help, it's bugging the heck out of me.
Thanks
Whoops I thanked you lol.
Some apps allow landscape mode, and some don't.
In addition, auto rotate allows your sensor to make the screen turn when it's on its side. Check the settings. (Settings > Display, I think). Hope this helps.
mine actually rotates when the keyboard is closed and doesn't when the keyboard is open, which is quite logical and the correct behaviour i think
Does your MT4GS do this too???

That's strange. I wonder why that is. So yours rotates the home screen and "all apps" screen when turned sideways?
I am sure that my auto-rotate feature works because when I open certain apps, say, the Gallery where I have all my pictures stored, I can turn it sideways to the left or right and it will rotate accordingly.
It is only when I try to rotate the Home screen and All Apps screen that I could have sworn would rotate too.
Any help on getting this back the way it should would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

I checked my Auto Rotate settings and they've always been on. I unchecked it and then rebooted and then checked it again and it still didn't work. Not sure why.
Nope, if you're on the stock ROM (As far as I remember, considering I haven't been on stock since the first ROM came out and I've refused to use the stock launcher anyways) orientation won't change on the "Home" screen unless you slide the keyboard open. Correct me if I'm wrong. Personally, I turn rotation off because it sometimes gets annoying. You could always try a different launcher though, I'm pretty sure ADW and Go Launcher rotate on any keyboard condition.
The app Orientation Control works well if you want your display to stay in a particular orientation all the time. Costs a buck or two in the market, and the main thing it messes up is the camera when you want to take a picture, but you can always switch it back to 'auto rotate' in those cases.

Yeah, I'm on stock ROM. I like the rotation feature for now, and was just wondering why it would work on some screens and not on others. I thought that was a default feature.
At least I know I'm not losing my mind. I really did believe it used to rotate the Home screen and All Apps screen without sliding it open.
I guess one thing I can try is going into a T-Mobile store and testing out their phone there to see if it rotates.
Thanks everyone!

Never did for me in the stock Sense launcher on the app drawer or home screens, unless sliding out the keyboard. I made a reference to that in the tv-out thread back when I first got the phone in august.
It works everywhere else, and you could just use another launcher to have it happen on those two screens.
I'd like to enable that functionality in Rosie - i'm not sure why it's like that and it's puzzled me for months.
I dunno, personally, I turn off auto rotation all the time. If I want to view anything in landscape, I just slide the keyboard open. Just my preference, though.
I really like a free app called auto rotate switch. It gives you a button in the status bar that you can click to turn on and off auto rotation. I've used it since my first android phone, but have never used it with this one.

making the sidekick 4g an exclusively landscape phone- not avg questions

what's up everyone, put smooth maximus on my sidekick about a week ago and it's been treating me great.
i've been interested in making the phone ONLY use landscape mode, which is possible through the "orientation control" app for our devices. only thing that annoys me about using this apk is that the lockscreen will still fall into portrait mode, and every time you slide the screen up to access the keyboard the screen 'reloads' itself.
i'm a little bit particular with the way my phone runs, and i'm wondering if there is any way to mod the phone to prevent it from reloading the screen when it slides open and whether it is possible to force the lockscreen into portrait.
thanks in advance for the help guys

are you saying that it wont open in landscape even when your holding it that way?
no, it will open in landscape. but the lockscreen is never disabled from portrait mode, and whenever the screen is slid up (even when already in landscape mode) the screen will blink for a second and seemingly reload whatever i'm doing on the phone.

Go into settings and enable auto rotation after you have enabled landscape mode lock with Orientation Control.
That will resolve the issue.

uhhhh, did you read my post? don't tell me to "try reading" when you don't have a grasp of what i'm asking. when did i say anything about not understanding how to use orientation control? i'm asking questions about the lockscreen and about the phone doing this reloading when the keyboard is opened. step off the high horse and learn to read before pompously telling others to...

well this phone was made to be nearly always used in landscape.
Android forces the phone the reload the screen resources with a hinge change. This cannot be changed. Additionally, this can be a source of memory leaks if you write quick and dirty code with globals...
I don't know of any version or mod of the Android OS that does not refresh the screen with a hinge change.
This refresh happens everytime you open and close your device. You only notice it on the lockscreen.

Screen keeps changing from Landscape to portrait on 4.0 Sense ROMS

I don't know why but on all Sense 4.0 ROMs (like OrDroid 7.1.0 and Insert Coin Evolution 1.3) my screen goes landscape and stays like this. I checked and unchecked the landscape mode in tweaks, I checked and unchecked the screen rotation, and calibrated screen g-sensor, but nothing helped. I did perform full wipe before OrDroid and IC, but it didn't help. I don't have problems on ARHD 6.4.4, please help cause I have no idea what to do ;/ I'm gonna hit thanks button like maniac if someone helps.
HTC Sensation
FW 3.32
Kernel stock/faux/Sebastian/bricked
4EXT
Now I've noticed that the screen goes from Landscape to portrait like mad. It changes just like this. Even if I leave the phone on the table. For example it's portrait, I switch off the screen, then it comes in landscape. I unlock the phone, then it changes portrait to landscape and back like mad :/ what the hell?
The best part is, that when I revert to ARHD 6.4.4 it works flawlessly. I get landscape when I want it.

Does this still happen even after unchecking the Landscape option in tweaks?
And how exactly are you getting landscape mode with ARHD?
I meant that the screen rotates into landscape on ARHD, for example in gallery or internet browser. Yes as I wrote, it happens with landscape mode unchecked in tweaks either from shinz or baad (depends on ROM). It is really frustrating.

Your G Sensor is probably not working properly.
Where are the places you have noticed this?
ie Have you noticed this in a particular application or all apps?
Also, if this is happening with Google Chrome, I'd like to inform you that Chrome is currently not working properly in Ordroid 7.1.0
First after I've flashed OrDroid after Full Wipe there was everything ok. So I went to take a look at the Sense 4.0. I firstly checked the gallery, and when I wanted to edit photo, all the Sense went Landscape. I couldn't change the Landscape to portrait by any chance so I've rebooted the device. After that, the system loaded up, the sense. 4 seconds and bam again. So I thought the ROM is broken and checked InsertCoin after a Full Wipe again. And here were even more problems. I left the phone unattended and it was changing from landscape to portrait by itself. It changed on homescreen, lockscreen everywhere. I'm really pissed off, because it looks really nice. To bad it's unusable on my device. I made device g-sensor calibration, but even when I made it succesfull it went wrong again. Either with landscape mode checked or unchecked. Maybe there is some option I can disable in applications? The ICS brought the option to disable some stuff. I don't know why it happens with landscape mode unchecked in tweaks, and autorotate unchecked in screen options. I'll look for some g-sensor measuring apps in Google Play

SuperCID and try flashing a different firmware. That probably could be causing some problem.
Now that sounds reasonable. I've got stock firmware from stock 4.0.3. Then I've done htcdev unlock and jbear s-off. Now I've flashed OrDroid 7.1.1 (previously was 7.1.0), and I'm waiting for the results. Is there any other firmware than the stock 3.32? Can I flash it while I have OrDroid, or do I have to change firmware, make a Full Wipe and flash OD 7.1.1 again.

no flashing firmware wont touch RM...so after flashing the firmware you can boot to ordroid again and can use it normally
for 3.32 firmware get it from this thread
get the one w.r.t your CID..if you are superCID then get any 3.32
