HTC Music App - EVO Shift 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so I am becoming more of a minimalist lately but the only thing that bothers me about AOSP is not having the HTC Music App because a lot of my is in aac format to save space, and the problem is that none of the other music players seem to pay nice with my music library. Is there another music app out there that plays aac and is free? Is it possible to get the HTC Music app working on AOSP (probably not)? Any feedback would be appreciated.

You can try THIS , it's light and I've never had an issue with it.

Music player playlists and speed

Hey everyone, just wondering... I synced some iTunes playlists through doubletwist with my captivate, but I noticed I can't actually view what's in my playlists with the default music player. Is there any way to do this with the default player? Also has anyone else noticed that the music player feels a bit laggy?
This is kind of a must for me, and I don't really want to blow 250 bucks on a new iPod.
Thanks
edit: other apps that function better than the stock music app would also work for me...

[POLL] Which music player are you using?

As a follow up to this thread, let's determine the most popular music player.
Lithium the best
MediaScape not included in the list.
Thread moved to D&H Android General.
Sadly, I think the stock player is the best one yet. The volume rocker and trackball controls are a nice feature. Plus, it just looks nice having the album art as a black and white background while selecting a song.
I have tried several of the more popular players and found them to be fairly ugly and plain.
I remember reading somewhere that most media players dont even have their own audio support, they just use the default/built in audio engine of the regular player anyway...
Stock is working best and with the device controls for me right now.
Subsonic ..... It allows me to have all my music without trying to fit it on my phone

Streamfurious, as I don't really use local mp3s.
Stock music player is so primitive it cannot be the best. Maybe most popular if it's good enough for many people, but I think some other players in this poll are better.

There are many competing streaming music apps (btw Rdio opened to public today). Should make a separate poll for them.
MortPlayer
I've used MixZing, MusicMod, doubleTwist and Meridian
So the conclusion is ... inconclusive. The stock music player seems to be bad enough so that people are trying out other players, but there are no clear winner among non-stock players yet.
Default stock Sense music player is best to me.
I personally prefer RealPlayer. Currently it's in the Market in Beta stage. But it's incredibly clean looking, and easy to use. Plus, I don't have to put my music, video, or pictures in set locations on the SDCard. I can put everything where I want without loss of speed.
I like the stock player on my Captivate.. but for me it lacks lockscreen control and scrobbling. I have been trying other free ones that fit my needs, and may settle on 3 (cubed) for awhile.

Id personaly love to see winamp, been using it for years and think its great.
HTC Stock because I don't really listen to mp3s on the phone (ipod), Retro Radio for streams

best mp3 program ?

Just wondering what the best mp3 and flac player for android is. Preferably free.
PowerAmp hands down. Plays mp3 and flac better than freaking VLC/Audacity (maybe) on the computer.

Best Mp3
1. Double-twist will allow you to upload and sync with you android phone/tablet and is a great music manger/player with a great ui and look
2. Winamp is great and one of best in that it is extremely easy to understand and use, just dump the music files in a folder on your sd card and it will find them.
there are tons of music apps out there try them and see what works for you!!!!

I agree with frub3nz, it's by far the best, even better than WinAMP. Only two bad things about it, it is a little quieter compared to WinAMP, and it only lasts 15 days as a trial version. Other than that though it's awesome.
Poweramp. It's worth it

Poweramp! It plays FLAC!! Can't go wrong.
is there any other mp3 players other than poweramp that show lyrics?

MIUI music player!
power amp cost me the best 3euros i've ever spent, it's just a fantastic player.
I really like PlayerPro. It has a much cleaner UI with the same features as PowerAmp, including the equalizer, lyrics, album art, etc. and it's only 5 bucks.

Another vote for PowerAMP. If you take the time to set up the equalizer and pre-amp correctly, you won't believe the sound quality. Worth spending money on.
Nothing can touch Poweramp. Best on android.

I've been using Songbird... its not the greatest, but the scrubber works while WinAmps doesn't. If you want something that just plays music, it works. Next week I may be using another music app though, I go through them often. Haha
I've yet to find any music app that matches iOS though, sadly. Android really lacks in audiobook and podcast support.
I don't need any of the other bulks apps give, like sync. I've put all of that on Amazon now, so why do I need a sync program anymore?

PowerAmp by a mile IMHO and it's excellent through Bluetooth stereo.
Another Vote for Poweramp...hands down the best music app for android
I've been using instinctiv, simple ui, detects music on sd card and fast.

Mortplayer is excellent and allows to play folders (nice for those who hate tags and arrange their albums in folders). It also displays lyrics through an add-on.
It is free and it is an excellent application. (I had it since windows mobile!)
Will miui music app work on oxygen rom on htc desire ?
poweramp....duh?
like many others my upvote is for poweramp just bought it today really is the best
I like PlayerPro... has a lot of functionality including an excellent EQ and personally I prefer the look and feel of it compared to poweramp..

best music player?

I like Google music but the recent 4g outages have left me high and dry when I wanted to listen to my streaming collection. What is a good alternative to Google music that will give some control at lock screen. And/or can streaming be disabled on Google music and all content stored locally?
In google music, you can make albums available offline but that assumes you do it before verizon goes down again ;-)

I love UberMusic, it looks awesome with the Metro UI.
I like to use songbird, but that's probably because I like to use songbird on my desktop. There are better music players out there

I use MIUI's music player. It's nice!
Google Music with Equilizer app works great for me
Before that PowerAMP was great
Also using stock MIUI player... don't need anything else!
Depends on how you plan on your preference of listening to music. Google Music is great because it stores your songs on the cloud, so there's no need to store the mp3 on your phone. Spotify & Pandora are obviously great as far as streaming goes. As far as music players the Stock MIUI is really nice. Though the Sony Walkman music player is my current favorite due to the simplicity and being able to shake the phone to change songs.
I used winamp for some time, it's excellent because it has support for shoutcast radios... But it uses too much RAM it's a con...
Keep forgetting about google music... I been falling in love with the zune software so smooth and silky.
I second liking UberMusic
It has been one of my favorites.
I've also tried bTunes Music Player and Double Twist.
They all have their pros and cons check them out.
I didn't like Double Twist as much. Felt like I was being charged for every feature a-la-cart
I found Power AMP is best music player...

+1
The only downside is, that it does not work together with HTC sense lockscreen.
But the equalizer with its precut works a lot better than the one of every other music player i tested including Google musicplayer.
power apm is the best one out there and i found that its working on ics 4.0.3 rc3.1 build with no problems and no duplicates
cheerz
TuneWiki FTW. fricken love this music player.
O player da google que vem com o android 4 esta fantástico e muito bom

Meridian
I love Meridian myself, it has a nice player interface and lots of good features, with exclusion directories and video support.
I can't link yet but its org.iii.romulus.meridian on the Market.
Still haven't ventured outside of Google music, gonna have to give poweramp a try.

Sound lag

So I'm running dirty unicorns with the bub a kernel, and I have experienced this on other cm10.1 ROMs, I'm just wondering if anyone else notices this, but when im playing music and tap on apps or the app launcher my music stops for a quick second and returns. Very annoying for those who listen to music while doing other stuff

Yeah, CyanogenMod 10.1 is buggy as hell, but 10 was much much worse for heavy music listeners. It started playing itself, repeating songs when you skip a track, and often refused to play songs. So don't go backwards, you'll be far worse off.

Use a player like PlayerPro + DSP Pack or Poweramp. They have their own audio decoding libraries, so they don't use the inbuilt Android audio decoder. As a result you experience no issues when playing music. I use PlayerPro & DSP Pack which also seems to use less battery than the inbuilt decoder even with LPA mode.
I always used Google Play Music when I had cyanogenmod. Apollo is a pile of ****e. Google Play Music made it slightly betterm but neither of them have anything on HTC's music player, that is the best by far.

Yeah f**k Apollo, check out PlayerPro, there's a 14 day trial. Make sure you get the DSP Pack also. Functionality wise I think it blows every other player away, and you could probably skin it to look like the Sense player too. But with 100x more features.
