I need to get back to stock kernel for tf101.
Currently i'm running 8.5.6.13-root-cwm and clemsyn kernel version 22
and i'm looking to move to a stock .19(root+cwm) then move on to ICS using:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1438433
where can i find the stock kernel i need and what is necessary to install it?
have a look here:
http://www.xdafileserver.nl/index.php?dir=ASUS/Asus+Transformer+(TF101)/ROMS/
especially in folder "stock rom by gee one"
Thank you, This will be very helpful!
This is still very helpful but i can only see that it has the ICS roms. looking for the HC rom that includes stock kernel, or stock kernel stand alone if either exists

Hi Finky,
because you have CWM already installed, I think you can just flash an ICS stock rom or custom rom.
for US read this:

for ww read this:

Make sure you read the threats because .21 has root problems, but make sure you install OTA root keeper.....in the developers forum are also CWM version of .17 that is rootable....read well before starting.
goodluck....

So if i were to flash an ICS rom or HC rom, it will overwrite kernel and set it back to stock kernel?
Also i have made some system apk changes awhile back, would those be an issue?
Finky,
I just read the two threads, and it seems that every one with a custom kernel has problems. So, seems you just have to follow the thread that you put in your 1st post to make sure you get ride of your custom kernel.
Or, you can cwm flash the revolver rom (has the standard kernel of ICS inside) or one of the other custom roms (I use Revolver). that way you have ICS although it is custom. maybe that is some thing for you to do....or you want asus rom?
Let's say I want to flash a rom and made a backup thru CWM of my stock rom will I be able to keep root if I flash it back to the stock rom ?
II'm doing this cause I care most about no auto brightness issue than the actual advantage to go with a custom rom.
Thanks
Why don't you just root your stock ROM then? You need to be rooted to flash CWM recovery anyways..

If your ROM is already rooted, and you're restoring it from CWM, yes. If you're using fastboot to re-flash the stock ROM, no, you'll have to re-root it.
I'm kind of confused about what you're asking, though. Can you give more specific details? Are you going to flash a different ROM and try to flash the stock ROM, or parts of it, on top of the new ROM? I wouldn't do that unless you're very sure of what you're doing.
Why do i have to reflash stock rom if i am moving from a cyanogen mod rom to another custom rom(like fitdroid, janas etc)
And does that mean i have to re root the newly installed syock rom and re-install cmw?
Who said to reflash stock rom every time?
And NO you dont need to flash cwm every time, it will be always there until unless you flash a stock firmware.

Btw with a custom rom your device gets rooted automatically

If you flash a full stock rom then you need cwm/amon-ra for flashing custom rom...
Rooting is optional...
thanks guys
Btw,i think i read somewhere that you should be on stock gingerbread rom before installing stock based roms
Hi,
I have similar question. I have installed Creed rom 3.5 on my Fit. I would like to try JoyOS from here:
HTML:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1704120
I think I know how to use CWM, based on instructions posted in that thread, but in there it says rom is: based on Cyanogenmod 7.2.0-RC1 1.2 by tj_style.
I know that CreeD rom is based on stock gingerbread, and in his neewb instructions it said I need to upgrade my phone from Froyo to GB first.
Now, I also have same doubt - do that I need to have Cyanogenmod 7.2.0-RC1 1.2 by tj_style installed on my phone prior to installing JoyOS. I'm pretty sure I do not (I can not even find thread for this rom), but I would like just confirmation, since I'm little scared that I could brick my phone.
Regards,
Petar
Bricking a g-fit is not easy, believe me
Since you are on creed's, you probably have cwm installed...
So you just need to flash the desired custom rom of your choice (in the same way as you installed creeds) and you are done...

Thanks (I pressed it already )
Also, In case someone else might come up to same question, I realized that you also need to use “mounts and storage”>”format /system” in case you are transfering from stock rom to cyanogen for the first time. best would be to follow youtube tutorial about it.

Petar

You want to know how I know you cant read....because had you clicked on this link.

Stock KJ6 + Antonx-One-Click.jar
You would have known it wasnt just a kernel...but then again reading is fundamentally hard on xda.

You can't update to cm9 and stay on 5.0.
Unlike most samsung phones, we do not have a functional recovery partition.
Even though we do have a recovery partition, and you can flash the recovery.img there, the bootloader will not even notice it.
It will just boot the kernel with the kernel command line argument: bootmode=2
In this mode, a stage1 init has to check if we are booting to: recovery, low power mode (charging), or normal boot (possibly with ota upgrade).
So in a nut shell, you upgrade to cm9, you get whatever recovery comes with cm9.
If you want to flash another cm9/ics based rom after that, just flash it (factory reset/wipe data, of course!). No need to go back to 5.0 recovery.
If however, your IMEI is screwed up or you have a specific reason to go back to gingerbread, use the oneclick that eollie mentioned. Flash it twice to get bootloaders. And then you can go back to cm9 by just 'factory reset/wipe data' and flash cm9 or whatever ics rom you wish.
I tried the one clicks but I end up having 6.0 cwm and no bootloader

That didn't make any sense. If you don't have a bootloader, how do you know what cwm you have?
i guess i do have boot loader.
im on CM9. cwm 6.0.1.0 and all i want to do is install this rom.
[TUK's ROM][Hybrid]Codename Android 2.0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1799192
can you please tell me how? :crying:
ive tried one clicking to stock then once clicking Antonx kernel.
but once i go to CM9 i get cwm 6.0 and when i try to once click the AntonX: Basic with a Twist SGS4G KJ6 1.1.0 i get boot loop.
and the eollie: AntonX's BwaT + Stock Rom link is broken.
Sorry about that I changed the link and thought it was the same. This is the correct link.

so i go back to stock or can i just one click this from my CM9 cwm 6?

Please read some more and understand what one clicking means. You could have cwm 3.x.x.x and if you flash the heimdall one clicks it will change to the current cwm for bml.
ive tried everything and i guess i have bad luck cuz i get boot loops or stuck on boot screen

1) Rom manager is not compatible with Atrix 2. I would not use it. Why do you need it anyway??
You can use Atrix Bootstrapper to go into CWM recovery . Rest can be done there. Or you can use Boot Menu Manager.
2)Of course! it will still be there! the backup is saved on your SD Card. So as long as you don't format your SD Card. It will be there.

Rom Manager does work with Atrix2. If you're on Stock ICS, you can install CWM on every boot, then flash the Bionic recovery through Rom Manager. That will allow you to use the 1 touch backup in RM, just hit backup rom and everything does what it's supposed to.
Here is the CWM on every boot for Stock ICS.

2)will the CWM recovery exist after flashing new rom or i need to install it again??
when i restore to stock fom JB, it means downgrading the firmware right??
so will there be a chance of bricking or is it same to restore anytime from any version??

No, your Recovery will be wiped after you flash a new rom, but you can install it again and restore your ROM.
But when restoring a rom, make sure you ARE ON THE ROM you are restoring.
E.g. If you flash JB and want Stock ICS back with your backup. First flash the Stock ICS from RSD and then restore your backup from CWM on it.
Or Vice-Versa.
@41rw4lk, Thanks for rectifying that. I did not bother with Rom Manager much.

I don't think any recovery exist after flashing a new rom. We have a locked bootloader, so we can't replace the stock recovery.img, all of our recoveries hijack the boot process to work. CM10 and PA I believe have a built in recovery, and that's about as close as you'll get to having a recovery exist after flashing a rom.
As far as restoring from JB, I believe you can downgrade to ICS, but you'll have to look at the JB thread to be certain. I'm on AT&T so I haven't had an opportunity to try JB (officially). CM10 is based on JB, but for our phone with the locked bootloader, it's more of a pseudo experience and is based on our ICS framework.
As for bricking, there is always a chance to brick, that's part of the mod game, but if you read and pay attention to what you have and what you're doing, you'll be alright.

UNLESS you have AT&T phone you should be just fine with ref lashing the ICS.
YES. there is a big problem if you are not on a ROM you are restoring.

Yes. I will say though, if you're on an AT&T branded phone with AT&T firmware, do NOT try to flash the new JB FXZ. It doesn't matter who your carrier is, it matters what firmware your phone is using. So, if you're on AT&T then you need to make sure that the things you flash are for AT&T, or else you will brick and that will be then end of that.

there's a few, you'll just have to look. Most of the time, if something is not meant for AT&T, the devs will post in the description that it isn't compatible. If you want stock ICS back at anytime, you can do yourself a favor and make a backup of your stock ICS all setup the way you like it, so you can restore if needed. If all else fails, there is an Official ICS FXZ that will get you back to stock ICS.

You're killing me smalls. You're on ICS already, you're not downgrading anything, nor can you downgrade ie. Gingerbread. There is no Official JB for AT&T, so that's not an issue. CM10 is a JB based rom built on an ICS frame, (for our phone at least), and again, you're not downgrading.
To make a back up, boot in to CWM or whatever recovery you're using (not stock), and click backup. You might hit up the noob thread to get an idea of the terminology and basics for our device. Not trying to be rude, but you're running yourself in circles. You got to walk before you can run.
