Should we make a poll? - LG Optimus 3D

Let's say that in one good day someone, with power to decide over LG Mobile Division, says: OK guys! Our division sucks! We get nowhere in this way! Let's head to xda-developers and let's find there the answers.
What kind of answers/solutions you could give and on which questions? Maybe we should make some sort of poll or some sort of petition and hand it over to LG, maybe they will keep count of it?
In my head I have a few questions, something like:
Q: Are you owner of a LG phone?
A: Yes - unfortunately.
Q: Are you satisfied with your LG phone?
A: Yes - like 2 years ago. Not in present
Q: What could you ask if we're willing to hear you?
A: I WON'T ask another phone when you're not supporting those you already released. In rest, I would ask everything that's normal to ask: customer support, regular and functional updates.
Q: Based on your experience, are you gonna buy in near future another LG phone?
A: Not near nor further, not ever again.
Q: Based on your experience would you recommand a LG phone to someone you know?
A: Yes! My enemies... Wait a moment! I don't hate so much my enemies to curse them this way!!
What you think? This is funny version

+1000 Agreed Make the poll in all the lg sections on xda better yet put it on xda portal

Are we talking about PHONE or we are talking about entertainment machine that has the problem to go to moon and dive in the see like Nautilus, control you pacemaker and drive your car.
It is a PHONE. After 21E - you can call, you can be called. You can take pictures (like camera), you can take movies, you can go in internet (like computer), you can use the GPS (like navigation system), you can watch movies, you can watch 3d movies, you can listen music like (MP3 player), you can read books (like book reader) you can use nearly all programs on the google market like any other Android smartphone.
yes. it is easy to be a hater.
Am I the only one who does not have a problem with this phone?
Is it possible that the problems are in the special device which stay in front of the screen?

You are correct

Honestly I don't have any problem at all...but just to make fun out of it... I myself consider that the GB is the version of Android that goes well on it. But as you can read in forums people are asking for something new and you (I mean as LG company) can't ignore people's desires. Good one with the Nautilus...
And still, tearing off your answer - taking movies - with glitches (even in 2D at 720p and no zooming option while recording), using the GPS - we all know the fix of satellites how "good" it is, watch movies and 3D movies - here goes pretty good, reading ebooks - good but on small screen is something like a pain in the a**...It's a good phone, I am fan of it - got 2 , one for me, one for my wife. And honestly I won't change it for anything, even so buggy as it is. But you can't ignore that is not the top of the heap, that could take improvments - battery included and that you find yourself alone, abandoned by LG's assistance.
Thanks for your reply.

Hey... it is 250 euro phone not 800 (like Samsung Galaxy S3 and Iphone 4s). You can not pay for Opel and ask to give you Lamborghini.
About "LG" "assistance".... how could you put this 2 words in one sentence? But the assistance is the thing that make the price, not the chips that are nearly the same in all phones and are made in China. And I am happy that we have here good developers to repair the software bugs.
But which phone you will call "the heap" and lets take a look in it forum here in XDA if they sing only Hare Krishna songs
Edit: why you want software zoom? This is the most nonsense option in all real camera - and we do not have real objectives.
If you want zoom - try this

It's a 250 euro phone..I've paid 300 for mine and 350 for my wife's (my wife's was bought first). But nevertheless, still, in Italy and France you will find this phone from 450 euros to an incredible 600 euros - and this with a contract.
http://shop.sosh.fr/telephone-porta...259&src_id=4&gclid=CN6Q1oyPqLECFYcNfAodGXoAfQ - 469 euros for an year in France
I don't ask a Lamborghini at a price of an Opel but still...can't deny that it can be a product that can improve. And normally LG and assistance can and must stay in same sentence... My LG Tv set - 50PX950N, had a problem once... called, they came home, took my TV, resolved the problem, upgraded and returned it home. And still, is LG. But it looks like that assistance is not same even in the same company.
Yes, we don't have real objectives and even if we do, still no optical zoom. I have the FujiFilm Real 3D W1 - no optical zoom while recording.
Honestly I would call the heap the phones branded "Nexus" and/or "Google" cause they are something like iPhone (be gone devil from my words!!!) . Are studied to work perfect and upgrades are all normal.
I am happy also and thankfull to our devs. If any of you come in my way...you have a beer and more from me. And yes, I am happy with the phone cause perfect things, perfect life sucks. Too much perfection is boring.

Phone Profiles: for Windows Mobile Second Edition

I'm announce I rewrite my program Phone Profiles to be compatibility with Windows Mobile Second Edition.
My goal is: fix all bugs from the previos versions, and design the most understandably and easy to use interface.
To do the best work, I'm awaiting all your comments and suggestions.
For the person who give me most of feedbacks I will give a free copy of the new version.
Below you see first screnshots of new settings dialogs.
As you know, the Second Edition software have to run on 240x240 240x320 480x640 both in portrait and landscape orientation. I designed these dialogs in main area 240x240 always. The title will be move to the right side in landscape mode and will hide in the smaller 240x240 devices.
For Phone Calls, SMS, Email, MSN Messanger and Alert settings all dialogs will duplicate. But in this version there are 2 dialogs for each feature. 1: for general options and 2: for selecting the sound file and volume.
You can notice I added the feature: Reaction. This will allow you to set what your device should do when the new phone call is upcoming or finished. For example you can turn off the device power automatically after your talking will finish. Finally I added here the possibility to turn on the speakerphone mode automatically (without car-set connected).
1st recommendation
...
FIX THE DEAD LINKS ON YOUR WEB SITE!
Now, if you do that, then I might believe you're serious about listening to your customers about bug fixes.
I apologize about being so harsh, but you've really irked a lot of people.

excuse me: which one (link)?
I thought I updated some pages lately.
question
Can you set repeating alert for missed calls and SMS?
sms reply
As you can see above (refresh, I just added more screenshots):
I added the auto-reply message for SMS.
8)
The feature of SMS arrived sound has the following values:
Sound: nothing
Sound: once
Sound: normal
Sound: longer ( = 2x)
Sound: longest ( = 5x)
I dont think the continuous repeat is necessary. It is danger because it can discharge your battery (for example when you use PPC with no fully charged battery, long day).
If you really want a looooong sound of SMS, just make your own sound with a long time of playing. As I did it for my friend some time ago.
More than four profiles would be very useful, JGUI. Example:
Normal (medium sounds, no vibrate: desktop)
Loud (loud sounds, vibrate: pocket)
Quiet (tiny sounds, no vibrate: late evening)
Vibrate (no sounds, vibrate: cinema)
Silent (no sounds, no vibrate, light flash: sleeping)
That is the only thing missing from My|Phone Profiles Version 3.1, which IMHO is still excellent software and works perfectly for me.
Version 5 was not good. Too many features, and too many bugs.
Keep it simple and make it work perfectly! Good luck with the new version.
ok
with respect to your suggestion:
less features
5 profiles will be
or maybe to be more conveniently I will give the selector: 3/4/5 profiles
thx
check out PocketZenPhone...its much much stable then Phone Seriously..or wadever its called...and its has updates every few 2-3 weeks time, zendrui (owner of PocketZenPhone) listens to our bug lists and wish lists and he makes an effort to add it in every update...
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, ITS FREEWARE

(maybe I should ask the author: why his copied my design of interface - icons placements, features)
For WM2003 Second Edition? Who would want that? The first Second Edition WM2003PE will be out sometime in June/July? The Motorola? Then It will take another 2-3 months before O2, I-Mate, Qtek provide upgrade to WM2003 SE. Serioously, shouldn't you put developing Phone Profile Seriously for WM2003SE at the bottom of your priority list and start listen to your customer first and fix all the bug that is still there in the current version. You probably should have at least 5 betatesters with different providers to test it for you before releasing to the public. Not using your paid customers as betatesters. This would be my suggestion for you.
I have not try your software yet and seeing so many unhappy posters in your thread I am a little bid reluctant to try especially when PocketZenPhone is working fine and Free.

Maybe you should ask the author why his software is working as expected, as opposed to the current version of Phone Profiles
As for the icon placement and features etc., Zendrui is listening very carefully to the users of his software, and his speed of implementing features requested by users/testers is awesome!
Give your product for free to be even with your customers
JGUI,
I bought your product and I was very disapointed because it never worked, even mor, the people from handango returned me the money.
I think that when you had a stable product you should give it for free just to compensate all the people you damaged.
excuse me
I have many customers use this program without problems. I'm too.
I dont understand why should be a free. This is my time of working. And "time is a money".
All my software has trial free versions. You can always test the trial version before you decide to pay. I think it's honour.
By the way, I made a few another freewares.
hey pal...you got to fix your problems first before venturing into Second Edition...
learn to walk before you run...
just my advice to you
Product should be free
JGUI,
You say the product should not be free because you spent your time writing it. We don't care how long it took you to write it--we care about whether the damn thing works!
How would you like to test drive a car for 30 days, only to find out it's running on 7 of the 8 cyclinders and 5th gear doesn't work!!! DO YOU CARE HOW LONG THE MANUFACTURER SPENT BUILDING IT? Hell no!
So, LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS and make a product that works. I think PocketZenPhone identified a need in the marketplace, recognized deficiencies in development and filled the gap with a good product!
Many-a-great software programmers cannot run a buisness. It sounds like you're headed down that path.
WE ARE YOUR CUSTOMERS--LISTEN TO US!

Ough! Basically you're saying "Well, since I cannot reproduce the problems some of my customers are facing, and other customers have no problems at all, I will not look into the issues some of my customers came up with."
In other words, you're like an internet Service Provider's helpdesk who doesn't care about the 2% people who are having odd problems...

guys...we should all just forget about phones profiles and move to PocketZenPhone instead...trust me, you WILL NOT EVER regret it...

I've tried JGUI Phone Profiles and had no problems at all. And i liked it much more than ZenPhone personally.
So stop those childish flame wars and give it a try so U can judge this new version.
BTW. I havn't tried any previous versions so i have totally no idea about those problems U R writing about. This ver. looks like nice peace of software IMHO...
personally i love pocketzenphone; tried out phone profiles but it had a lot of loose screws. zenphone is not only free; it also works.

My Captivate Review

Alright folks, here's my impressions/review of the Captivate after 3 days of use.
I won't go into technical details here, you can look those up elsewhere.
This is just some "real-world" usage info for anyone on the fence or whatnot. Obviously, no iTunes bloatware or anything to screw with. Rooting this took about two minutes once I had all the software I needed installed (which is simply extracting a zip file, so it's not that big of deal, in itself)
The unlock screen is a 3x3 screen that you can set into any pattern you'd like to set. Simply connecting straight lines of dots or doing a big S or something, you can set this pattern however you'd like. Unlike the iPhone, which you have to unlock THEN enter the pass code, you just have to know the unlock pattern to get into this phone, saving a step. Huge advantage just for casual folks.
Granted, the 9 dot (3x3) unlock isn't as numerous in possible combinations as is a custom code, but as I said: "casual" folks, and you can set an additional code there if you'd like.
Second, the Facebook integration (I'd imagine the Twitter/MySpace is the same, I don't use those) is great. Whereas the iPhone really won't integrate much other than photos, you can integrate calendar events, status updates, and everything without ever having to pull up the Facebook app itself. From one calendar I can see both Facebook events and my Google Calendar events... Just little stuff makes you happy. Of course stuff like this is to be expected on Android. I could go on and on of all these awesome little differences, but I'm just picking a few of what I think are popular examples.
Third, the size is just slightly bigger than the iPhone, of course. Thickness is about the same, but the bigger screen means it's SLIGHTLY bigger. IMO this is the PERFECT size of screen for something in your pocket. Looking at the iPhone's is like torture now. Whereas it's still a good size to fit in your pocket.
One note about this phone is that it's LIGHT. Very light, yet at least this ATT version feels solidly sturdy. It's also got the easiest to access battery cover I've ever used.
Tons of customizations. TouchWiz isn't bad, and I like Samsung's Facebook widget better than the actual Facebook widget... But I switched to Launcher Pro simply because it has a ton of options. Displaying your App Drawer in 3D is awesome, for example. You can set number of desktops, etc... Tons of options with Launcher Pro.
Battery life seems to be acceptable. As with many batteries it won't reach it's "maturity" until I've gone through 5 or so charges... Day 1 and 2 I had it plugged in quite often, so this will be my first day going straight through. I can say that I unplugged it 5 hours ago and it's dropped 25%, with moderate (IMO) usage. Again, that can only get better over time. I think it'd be safe to say I can get a whole day out of this phone.
Now the primary reason for this was the Super AMOLED display.
First, sunlight viewing. Here are some pics comparing it to my 3GS. This slightly wins in the sunlight test.

}
You can also notice... Images (and everything) looks better on the Super AMOLED. There's debate about text, and I will admit the iPhone 4 is capable of better text display, but when held at arm's (normal) length, I can't tell any quality difference between my laptop and the text quality of the Super AMOLED. IMO if you have to study the display with a microscope to tell the difference, than well... I'll just say it: iPhone users paid a premium for a feature that lacks real-world relevance.
Onto viewing angles. Hands down, the Super AMOLED wins.
Obviously, color reproduction is better. Here's the same pic on both that displays the black levels, however... Super AMOLED again wins hands down:
Tons of advantages here. Android accounts for many of them. This is hands-down the best phone I've used (and yes, the iPhone 4 is included in that).
My only minor gripe is the home screen buttons don't stay lit up for the duration of the display, they time out after several seconds (versus the 30 seconds or so I have the screen set to). Just an annoyance which I'm sure will be fixed at some point, again: this device isn't even released yet and it has some great community fixes going for it already.
For those of you that want an awesome phone that doesn't drop the signal with a fingertip, this is it
Thanks man! Good review, and it is quick and straight to the point!
Great review, thanks for the info . When did you get yours and for how much? (on or off contract?)
p.s. I'd take those pics again for image comparison after you wipe both of those screens off . I think i can see a booger on the first iphone pic. lol jk, but it would really help us see the difference better if both screens were clean
*edit: that is if you care or have the time. Thanks again.
Great work! Quick question if you don't mind. I've heard rumors of not being able to download 3rd party apps from the Android Market thanks to AT&T... tell me this isn't true
Understandably this is Android and even if it were true, there will be a way around it thanks to this wonderful site and its users but I just wanted to know. Thanks

Yeah its true but you can still use adb and the phone has already been rooted. Check the Captivate Software Development thread to learn how to do it.
That sucks that its true and great that we can go around it. Thanks for the info
@jjimenezjj 3rd party apps are those not in the Android Market, like betas or test run apps, so anything in the market should be fine. But with the free ADB tool in the Android SDK any app can be pushed to the phone and so "side-loaded. "
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Hmmm. I have all sorts of apps from the Android store on my Captivate. E-Wallet Viewer, Yelp, Documents-to-go, YPmobile. . . .
What I don't like is that AT&T doesn't package any useful business friendly apps on it, like Doc's2Go, so you have to buy those. They need to get rid of the bloatware and add some business friendly apps. Losing a couple of the map apps would be good.
If you use exchange for mail - there are some issues with that also. The mail client isn't a true exchange client. If you have a link in an appointment, such as checking in for an airline reservation like Southwest or American, you cannot click on the link and go to the website from the appointment pop-up. Bad form. Hopefully fixed in A2.2. Also, unlike the BlackBerry, you can't sync personal folders from outlook. Another feature that'd be nice. Customization is amazingly easy. And rooting is really simple.
Otherwise a great phone. Decent battery life, expecially if you don't use an Active Wallpaper. I'm not going back to my Blackberry Bold II. . . . .

I have wanted something like this device since 2005 and its finally going to be made... I´m one happy android user right now...
Plus its kinda open for developers to add compatibility for their apps... I can´t believe that Sony is the one doing this gadget...
Yeah, it looks amazing. I totally want one. Hope it's under €100.
but, it's a sony
if it weren't for being a sony, i'd say it totally rocked. sony screws up more things with their DRM and locked-in crap.
maybe they're learning... we'll see
I've been hugely interested in this. For me its perfect in function... but not in form. I was really excited when I learned about it because I work in a professional environment where I am constantly surrounded by others and it just looks bad to be always pulling out your large phone (droid x). I also value having a watch over having to check the time on my phone, so that is a major plus for me. I would love to get email updates and check calendar events with a glance (not searching my pockets), so this sounded like it may have been perfect.
It fails in style and ergonomics. It looks like a toy more then a professional accessory. Its very thick compared to a normal watch, it looks even thicker then my Droid X. It comes with a very unattractive Velcro wrist strap (does not deserve to be called a wrist band). It stands out like a sore thumb. Lastly, I'm going to bet the price will be $150+ because its Sony. Sony could have a chance to develop a new accessory market that would have been geek sheik. Instead, I think they may discourage competitors from entering.
First post here, been lurking since I got my new android handset. This is a really helpful forum, glad to be here.
here is a video. i think it looks interesting.
hmm, is it playing music through the wristwatch, or the phone ? very cool, consider my mind changed, assuming sony doesn't cripple-ware it.

I have exactly the same usage scenario. Excellent not to distract others in meetings, workshops, seminars etc.
Just so you know, there's the previous generation Sony MBW-150 series of analog watches with BT and a digital display which you can run with Android, WM etc etc through software such as Openwatch and smartWachM, both by moneytoo whom you can find on the forum.

So it doesn't look like the Live View has vibrating alert function, does it?
This is the best feature of the MBW-150 in order to get alerted about messages, RSS feeds, SMSs, mails etc without anyone else noticing.

The liveview can vibrate. (it´s stated in the user manual and the vibrating motor is visible in the internal photo´s of the FCC.
Can´t wait for Sony to release the SDK so I can add support for it in my apps.

Just eats up more board realistate -- I don't think thats what Sonys Engineers have envisioned for this anyways. I know personally I want one. So many possibilities as long as the SDK isn't garbage.

You can't get them to work together though as android only allows 1 BT pairing at a time?
Therefore the only way to get music is to plug it into the phone itself - which defeats the purpose of not having the phone on you physically.
This thing better have a more reliable track record than Sony Ericsson's prior attempts at similar watch-type devices. There were WAY too many DOA units and battery life was abysmal, even when it was functioning nominally. Take it from a guy who tried one and got burned by their so-called customer service department.

Thanks rj3005. Yes I found out once it does vibrate, once I got hold of the manual on FCC. Amazingly SE does not advertise the vibrating alert, though.
It sucks they don't have a release date other than 'before the end of the year'...I'd love to buy this, but without a timeframe of any sort, it's hard to get excited...
Looks pretty cool, but i dont see myself using it.

This is even better than the beta I tested 2 weeks ago. Did you see some of the coupons I TagIt for Papa Johns ? Getting ready for Super Bow Sunday.

[Question] - Android screen video capture?
Done anyone know of any suitable way to capture video of running app on android device?
I've tried several
Capture apps (none reliable though, one said it was taking view, but did not store it, another was unable to start the service). BTW on a rooted dev.
Moto webtop (this really sucks @ 5fps)!!
Thinking about getting a phone grip, putting camcorder on stand over my shoulder and do the job. But what about screen glare from the phone? Anyone had any experience with these?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.roundere
does it support coupons in asia ?
@ aquaphx if you're interested we can certainly do it.
Tell you the truth we have the basic framework, just a few more lines of code and some testing would get it there.
would you be interested?
I've tried screencast http://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/, must say its impressive effort and in the right direction. Easy to use and developer clearly sets expectations.
For my purpose i need higher FPS, hence I'm headed out to walmart to get a phone grip and will use my old camcorder, not sure if outcome will be as impressive, but another hour of trial & error, will post results as once I'm done.
Check out the demo video @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oF0Sv8GI7Lg
First shot @ it, but turned it ok,
Equipments used
- video camera
- tripod
- white gift box turned
- kiddie table
- tape
Change display settings on the phone to never timeout and set display brightness to manual (max it out).
point the camcorder straight down, tape the back of the phone to gift box, tape the gift box to a kiddie table. Point and focus your camera down to the phone. Found manual focus helps, since screen display changes can trigger auto focus. And make sue to use 'one finger' -- haha.
Time spent 1 hour and 30 minutes to everything, including adding Music track (credits in youtube video). Could improve with more editing and some additional lights.

We know how exactly that can be - from my location see only 5-6 PoI's total, I have to pan the map quite a bit to get interesting stuff.
BTW what kind of PoI would you be interested in? Name of any local stuff would help us get that data.
Updated from 1.0.4 to 1.5. I have been putting it off because the last version were working fine. Well, I got to say 1.5.0 is awesome. I am still running Samsung galaxy 1 with 2.1 and the performance of panning the map is much smoother now. I got to love the coupon tags sticking out of Target and Best Buy. Now more reasons for me to buy gadgets I might not ever need . Good job guys !
db
@db thks. would recommend turning on auto updates on the app. please do rate us as well.
R u able to see more data?
Yes, I see there are a lot of local restaurants added in my area which is great. I love the fact that now when I click on an unknown place, your app automatically do a quick search on the web and display review information. No more having to exit the app and text up on google search. Love it.
I am going out of town this weekend, so i will be using this a lot.

F8, Beta crashed on me last night. emailed you the log. Went back to 1.5 release.
Carlos,
Looking at the stack now. Do you remember which area of the map you were in when this happened? This can't happen unless our data is bad or during downloading the data got corrupted.
F8
quick update on data
* Added more pubs and bars
* even more night life spots
* some regional chains
If you can't see new categories, you may have to clear your data cache .
Updated with 1.5.1 : minor bug fixes.
If you have 4.0 phone there is
an outstanding issue on Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.x phones http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=19857 is really Android framework issue.
f8
I did a complete uninstall of 1.5 official first then put in the beta, now it is working. So I am thinking upgrading to the beta directly isn't working. I will let you know if I run into other problem while testing this beta out.

[CONCEPT] Nexus Q: Q-Dash - Completed

This is something I had an idea about as soon as I saw the Nexus Q. I saw the potential this device has, however the current setup is just lacking. Good thing is hackable and runs Android though.
I am not a developer, I just come up with concepts in the hope that either Google or a developer will like the idea and begin to implement it.
What is it?
The Q-Dash is a customisable dashboard powered by the Nexus Q. Every morning, we wake up and check our phones for the latest news, weather, Facebook updates etc. If you can get it on your phone, its likely that we will check it.
However, you have a Nexus Q, why not put all that information onto one screen.
When your alarm goes off, your Android Device sends a command to the Nexus Q to power up the Q-Dash.
Q-Dash is your daily dashboard of all the information you check in the morning and its fully customisable. It can give you any Google Now Card, the latest breaking news stories, RSS feeds, Facebook/Twitter information, Live TV or Audio Streams. Q-Dash also shows you notifications you might have missed during the night.
How does it work?
Q-Dash is a completely 'hands free' experience from the moment your alarm goes off. When the alarm is activated, your Android device automatically listens for your voice, enabling you to snooze or dismiss your alarm without getting out of bed. Once it receives the dismiss command, your Android Device powers the Nexus Q on in Q-Dash mode.
From then on, your Android Device listens out for a hotword. When it hears this hotword, it activates the speech recognition so you can control Q-Dash.
Ask it to show you your RSS feeds from the Google Blog, and thats what it will do. Ask it to read you an article from a RSS feed - it'll do that as well.
Change the Livestream, post a Facebook/Twitter update, see the weather forecast, check your daily agenda or go to your favourite website - Q-Dash can do all this an more. It also has the compatibility to launch Q-Dash optimised applications from your device, right onto the Q-Dash. So if you want to see your favourite news application on Q-Dash, just ask it to launch. If the app is Q-Dash optimised, it'll launch for you.
If you have multiple Nexus Q's in your house, you can take Q-Dash with you. Simply tap your phone on any Q-Dash to bring it up. Q-Dash also knows when you have left your house, so can power down the Nexus Q automatically.
If you like this concept, don't forget to click Newsworthy in the top right and share this around the web!
[CONCEPT] Nexus Q: Q-Dash
I legitimately had to register to give you props on your idea. That is an amazing concept. I'm not sure how much voice sounds and my video editing is none existent, but to support your idea I would be up for chatting on skype or the something else to see if you could use me.

Video editing isn't needed. Just record yourself saying a few sentences from above and send it
Updated the video with Q-Dash voice
This is an absolutely amazing idea. I don't really have much to add, just wanted to say good work and I'm looking forward to seeing someone do this.

I keep thinking about how awesome this could be.

Why totally useless? Bet you wake up and use your phone in bed, or put the news on or read it?
Nobody have anymore feedback?
Final version has been submitted, complete with voiceover etc
Dude, all I have to say is the concept sounds pretty awesome. However, and this isn't the fault of Q-Dash at all...unless if the Q gets a lot more functionality, and quickly, I doubt too many people are going to be paying $300 for a gimped device. I mean, it's a networked media consumption device, but it can't even do local streaming of audio or video (at least not natively, and I haven't seen anything 3rd party that can do it either).
Three times expensive than Apple TV,I'm not sure it's worth enough
Yeah I best you.
Its been hacked to runs apps hasn't it so things like this shouldn't be to far away
This is an amazing concept for the Q! I can't wait to see where this goes! This is the future!! I just picked my Q up on ebay today. For those of you interested but not wanting to pay 300+ tax check out ebay. I got mine for 195 and saw them come and go for 170-210 from the Google I/O folks. Following this thread and can't wait to see where this goes! This just made me 1000 times more excited about picking up the Q.

What are you looking for from the community? Backers? Interest? Do you have plans to launch? What do you need to launch or begin development?
Sorry for all of the questions but I'd really like to know where your vision is for this new concept, as this is something that has really got my interest.
Thanks

My vision would be for either a developer or Google to jump on board and develop it as its only a concept. If I had the time in my life, I'd sit down and attempt to learn Java and see what I could do myself, however I have pretty much no free time at the moment
Congrats!
Mas, it´s great.
I shared it on my Google Plus.
Thanx for this concept.
