Hello! I am a newbie in this forum. I just recently screwed up my phone (HTC Sensation 4G). I rooted the phone, and got this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1772868
The ROM seemed to work for everyone, but it doesn't seem to work for me. It's been stuck in the boot animation for hours. I deleted the ROM in my Micro SD and reflashed another ROM that said it was successful. I rebooted my phone but it was stuck in the same boot animation as the first ROM, which is the link up there. I am wondering if a "nandroid" would work? If so, can someone send me their's? If a "nandroid" doesn't work, can someone tell me what's wrong and if it's possible to fix? The "info" in fastboot is:

that was fast ...they might charge you ..as you have unlocked the bootloader
also as malybru said ...ppl with HTC-dev unlocked bootloader has to flash roms a bit differently ..and the linked guide ..explains perfectly on how to flash the ROMS while being S-ON
you should did some search before returning the phone to t-mobile

I want to unlock my bootloader via HTCDev as i like knowing i have access to Fastboot commands if needed, but what i'm wondering, before i do this, is will it send me back to Stock CID and S-Off, or will everything be left as it is whilst just unlocking my bootloader?
Sorry if this has been discussed before, but i've had a look about and not come accross my answer.
Thanks!
It is unlocked, its just saiz locked. A common problem

Hi,
It will unlock everything for you.
But HTC will then have a record of what you have done, and this will give you warranty problems, should they ever arise.
Thanks for the help guys!
Much appriciated. I've gone as far as getting my unlock code sent to e-mail, but i've not actually flashed it yet as i was rather unsure.

Hi,
It's locked to advanced fastboot, like installing radio.
Basic fastboot like get cid is still available.
Malybru, thats pretty much why i'd want it unlocked - I'm so used to flashing radio etc via Fastboot. I know you can do it via HBoot with PG58IMG, but i've been doing it via Fastboot with my Streak, Desire HD etc and just find it easier doing it like that.

Hi,
I know what you are saying.
But you will invalidate your warranty by doing anything from HTCDEV...
EDIT:
You can always return to 1.17 HERE
this what throws me off alot, unlocking the Bootloader gives us fastboot commands, which i dont want to lose, once you have done the Revolutionary you get s-off which takes security off to flash radio etc, once we update the hboot, it says locked but its truly not, and it still says s-off so once we do the unlock from htcdev we still have s-off so fastbooting flash radio should still work since that security is still off
i searched and asked there is no real answer as everyone jus shrugs and says use the PD58IMG to do things then the thread dies or OP says ok that will be fine
and it will not fully void your warranty if its any type hardware issue, it only voids software side, as say you did a bad flash and bricked it, if they recovery it and see you are unlocked then yes its voided, but if the digitizer not responsive, power button stuck, backlight died, whatever that is still coverd
I know i could return to 1.17, but would that mess up the fact i'm running RCMix ICE 4.0.3? I'm no desperate for the Fastboot commands, but just knowing i have access to them is a weight off my mind.
I've never needed to use my HTC warranty, but loosing access to it is putting me off a little. I think i'll lay off unlocking for a while.

Oh dear, locked does not mean only basic fastboot. The hboot version determines the basic fastboot. 1.17 has advanced fastboot but none others do

If you've gone as far as getting the unlock code emailed across then go for it.
I unlocked mine with HTCDev first, now i have hboot 1.23 unlocked and s-off..
It's not going to clear my S-Off or Super CID i take it then?
Thats the only main reason i've been holdinf off doing it, the warranty is a downside, but it's not a huge thing. I bought the phone second hand, so i've no idea who it was first registered to anyway.
I can't answer that one i'm afraid as I did it the other way around, HTC first, then revolutionary.
TBH i'm not sure what the difference is between having an unlocked bootloader and S-Off, or whether they are one and the same. When I did the HTC unlock it said it had been successful but still said S-Off in HBoot so i used the revolutionary method as a follow up.
In retrospect I think the HTC unlock did work, at least in part, because i've flashed the most recent ruu (complete phone image direct from HTC) and have both 'unlocked' at the top and 's-off' showing in hboot. most if not all users who have not done the HTC unlock end up with a 'locked' 's-off' combination.
this doesn't really help with your dilemma unfortunately but i'm sure somone with a definitive answer will be along...
I just went ahead and did it... when the screen appeared asking if i wanted to unlock, i vol upped to Yes and pressed Power. Nothing happened, tried again, nothing happened. Pressed Power on NO my phone restarted.
Went back into Hboot, now says *** Unlocked ***, Ship S-OFF RL, and Supercid says 11111111, so all went well it seems, Only odd thing is, my rom seemed to factory reset, and the RCMix ICE splash screen has changed to the stock Android Spash Screen. All seems ok though, still rooted, etc?
Sounds promising. It's a bit of a steep learning curve at first for sure and not all of the guides and info are in plain english. Still, all's well that ends well.
All seems fine. Reading on HTCDev.com, it does factory reset your Rom and Settings, so i decided to just reflash RCMix Ice and all is well and good now.

If you're not worried about warranty, I would strongly recommend a custom ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146601
Use this to help you, it contains many guides and ask any questions if you need to.
However, if you do want to flash a RUU, here are a list of RUU's. I can see one for HTC India there.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002506
Also I believe you would need to create a goldcard to flash an unbranded RUU for HTC India. Here is a good guide from Paul O Brien

thank you.
about the 1st link:I'll install custom Rom after a few days because I'm still enjoying the shiny sense 3.0.
about the 2nd link:I've seen that sticky post but couldn't download Asia_India so I downloaded Asia_WWE. but the thing is what is the process. do I have to revolutionary s-off or root my phone? and most importantly will I get the official OTA updates after flashing the stock Rom? I'm more interested about flashing stock Rom. so if you please give the procedure.
about the 3rd link:I'll creat a goldcard ASAP.
With the goldcard use mmc2 not mmc1 as the guide suggested. I.e. change the 1 to a 2 in the adb command.
If you want to get ota's you have to be stock, if you attempted down the line to install an ota on a rooted/altered phone its your own stupidity to blame, and many have done it.
Good stuff on making the goldcard, can't stress it enough how important it can be especially for novices.

You don't need S-OFF or root to flash a RUU. However, it doesn't matter if you do either.
The RUU is an .exe file so run it on your computer and it becomes pretty self explanatory. Also thanks to fox2delta for clarifying that.

If you're using the RUU then you should get OTA's and you'll want to keep your bootloader locked.
You can also go down the custom ROM road but i'm not sure about functionality with indian font.
Hi all,
I have bought a HTC Desire S on Ebay and it came with ICS 4.03 and Sense 4.0A called Fallout Evolution V4.3.0.
I was under the impression this was an official release from HTC but after checking I discover it wasn't. The seller does know how to restore the phone but I got it for a great price so don't want to get a refund.
I'm not interested in putting custom stuff on my phone so would like to restore it to HTC official software. A friend told me to come on here and ask and to give the boot loader information..
Mine says:

If I click Recovery I get the HTC logo then a screen with "4EXT Recovery v2.2.7 RC5"
Can someone please help me restore my phone as I have found the original Android I need:

But don't want to run the file untill I've done whats needed to prevent my phone for becoming a brick.
Thanks
Please read the front page and look for a thread with title that matches what you want to do. Read it, and read the other thread on or near the front page it's pointing to. You can also read the sticky guide it's pointing to, referenced in sticky INDEX thread.
And after you find the answer to your question in such close proximity, please consider searching before posting next time.
Ypu can use my method. Check my sig on downgrading. Download the RUU that is best for your phone. You should ask from the seller if the phone is branded or not. Everything you need is in the forum. Just use search.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda app-developers app
Skanob do I follow all you guide or just the final bit Locking the bootloader & Downgrading? or do I start at Modifying the version of your phone?
The only reason I ask is my friends unrooted phone says
***LOCKED***
SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT- 2.00.0002
and mine says UNLOCKED. Also your guide says goto htcdev.com/bootloader and when I do it says Unlocking your bootloader which I assume has been done already?
Or is there a way to install the HTC RUU on my so it runs like a custom ROM? all I want it the official HTC software I've no warranty issues to worry about?
Sorry for what may seen as stupid questions but I'm not very technical and never messed with phones before, just trying to sort it.
Yours is already unlocked and with custom recovery and rom. Im pretty sure the rom is already rooted. You just need to find out if your mmc is a goldcard. Then download the correct ruu. Start from changing misc verson.

I followed what you posted and worked perfectly, once again thank you for everything :victory:
Hi everyone,
Few weeks ago my device started to overheat quite a lot when being used (I dont play 3d games, well I dont play games at all on this device), for browsing the internet on wifi or 3g network, it gets hot in the bottom part of the screen above the touch buttons. I tried buying a new battery, I bought a original HTC, but a bigger one for Evo 3D, but it is still getting hot, and I dont know whether it is a hardware issue or a software caused. Do you have any ideas what could be wrong? ...my sensation is rooted, bootloader unlocked via HTCDev, S-OFF..and I still might try to use my warranty to get it repaired but I dont want to take the chance that I would be told that the device had been unlocked and rooted and thus not being repaired...I read that it ist possible to get device back to S-ON and LOCKED, not RELOCKED, so that the repair center wont find out that it was unlocked and rooted before...but I could not find a tutorial and I also do want to brick my device so I am asking for some help how to get the device back to STOCK rom with S-ON and LOCKED status...
