Backup Original Orange Spanish ROM. - HTC ChaCha

Hello. Since I rooted my HTC ChaCha and deleted many of the extra and/or not needed apps, I can't install updates.
And that's because although I have reverted to original recovery, the updates try to patch certain files that are not there, and crash.
Has anyone a backup of the original spanish orange rom, with no modifications at all?
Thanks.

Need help to start modding my Magic.

Hi All.
OK, I've rooted my Vodafone HTC Magic.
Now. I'd like to install one of those new firmwares, how can I install them?
I'm looking to get a little bit more speed out of the sucker, multitouch, and all those nice things I see in this forum.
Cheers
The same way you rooted your phone? with the recovery-new.img ?
Download a firmware which is compatible with your phone.
rename the .zip to update.zip and put it on your SD
(fastboot via CMD, type the following commands on your desktop not on the device):
fastboot boot recovery-new.img
Fastboot, back-up with nandroid, reboot.
Copy nandroid folder from SD to your PC. (If you want to go back to Vodafone firmware)
Put update.zip on the SD and fastboot again.
Whipe and update.
(whipe clears everything.)
I got the Google ION R3 Lite from nk02.
And i have a Dutch Vodafone Magic.
thanks for that.
I managed to figure it out and I'm running a new firmware!
No.
What different firmware are there out there for magic? what are the features of each?
Cheers
You got an Hero Rom, HTC orignal rom, Google ION rom, Haykuro's Rom and some other provider roms like vodafone sfr and a italion one.
maybe some more which i didn't found yet.
thanks mate.
I'm mainly looking for a rom that is both fast and stable.
Any recommendations?
Are these roms covered somewhere else? what they come with and etc?
I got my first rom yesterday and that's the:
nk02's Google ION Multilanguage R3 Lite
It got 3 verions in 2 different types. Lite and with addons
R1
R2
R3
It's got the new google voice search. and some few extra's.
Got 2 minor bugs but they are not annoying or a real big problem.
Date format and no dutch type language.
I rather type for myself, hate auto word filling.
Noverca HTC Rom - Vodafone Magic
Hero Rom for G2 Sapphire
Rogers ROM for Sapphire G2 Magic
and some more, but you have to search the forum or other pages for that.

How can the ROM version suddenly change?

Hi All,
Just a quick question.
I noticed today that my ROM and Manila version under Settings have reverted back to 1.66 despite the fact that ROM version under on the o2 boot screen is still 1.72.
How can this happen? Is it something to do with restoring a backup?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Sorry Mods, I thought I was back in the HD2 General thread. Please move it.
what did you use to restore a backup it could have saved some registry bits and changed them in the phone,
Im sure you restored a full backup after changing the ROM Dont do this !!! Seriously you get many problems with that. Just restore your contacts, messages etc. and install everything clean again...
possibly, my bad....

I changed my ROM ages ago and checked the version under Settings straight afterwards and it was fine Im sure ( I think LOL). I need do a restore today after the HTC Messaging Client 2015 update didnt work and just happened to notice the inconsistency.
Anyway I reckon the ROM version displayed in settings is simply reading from a registry setting (I found the wrong manila version number in the registry also) , as the boot screen displays the correct version.
PS. I use SPBbackup in ROM upgrade mode when moving to a new ROM and and this is the first time I have experienced this. Bearing in mind that I have gone from 1.43 O2 to 1.66 stock to 1.72 O2 and this is the first time I noticing this, 2 months after last upgrade.
Strange...I havent noticed any issues, so I will probably just fix at the point of the next upgrade (assuming there will be one).
Thanks for input so far.

Touch4g Gingerbread roms issues

I installed a new rom in attempt to solve a bootlooping issue caused by a
file i was installing through clockwork that had to do with installing
gingerbread keyboard on my mytouch 4g but now the service doesn't work. i am rooted. I was
hoping a professional on the software could possibly help me out. I thought
of a couple solutions; 1. Reinstall original rom, 2. install new radio, 3.
completely reinstall entire software on phone.
please and thank you =)

Get Branded One S Unbranded

hey guys, i just got my htc one s from ebay.
and it seems like its branded by t-mobile. so i have some useless apps which i dont want to have. even the browser is branded
now i'm asking myself, if i should flash a ROM from an unbranded htc one s and to get mine so unbranded too. (but i have no idea where i can find an unbranded one s ROM)
or is this a bad idea at all and gives me some hidden disadvantages?
i know i can just remove some system apps but e.g. the browser i dont really want to remove and i cant get the brand out of him.
i hope you know what i mean and can help.
PS.: sorry for my not perfect english
if you want to keep your current stock ROM, get root and use titanium backup to remove all the bloatware..
If you want to flash a custom ROM, choose something just like stock, For example Zero One S ROM (nice stock ROM but themed) Or virtuous ROM (with sense) Or even Modaco (hasnt been updated in a while)
There are others too. Including Senseless ROMs..
Make a nandroid before you do anything.. if something goes wrong, restore it
but i cant remove the branding in the browser with uninstalling system apps. this would remove the whole browser.
and custom rom i dont want either to be honest. the past with my lg optimus one showed me that in custom roms alsways something isnt working right.
do you have a link for me where i can download the original one s firmware without branding stuff? this would be the best i think.
download an unbranded RUU, use the methods to extract the rom.zip modify it to suit your device and flash that..
Or just remove all the branded stuff of your phone and re install the stock unbranded apps.. For example, delete the browser (dont know how this is branded but) and get the browser apk from another ROM and install it on yours
be quicker and simpler to do that
thx for your help but i just found a clean untouched ROM.
now if i root my phone with this method (i just also found) i can install clockworkmod and then backup my temporary system and flash the clean rom, right?
You sure can
okay, it failed
I dont get root acces with this method. and with the install-superboot-windows.bat either
i only have CWM now, but no root...
and flashing the stock rom (which already is rooted) failed. it just doesnt start.
I dont use superboot. did you flash the root zip file ??
just flash a custom ROM there are several out there that are identical to stock..
ok, i made a mistake. i wanted to flash the ROM buts its a nadroid and i have to restore it. now with restoring it woked fine.
so everything is fine now, rooted phone + no branding.
thx anyways

[Q] What do I need to get OTA Updates?

Hi,
I just sent my One S to Vodafone because of the chipping issue (it wasn't very much but if they change it it would be nice) and I expect to get a new flashed phone back from them.
At the moment I have (or more had) the Virtuos 1.4.0 Rom installed because I kinda like the Sense look&feel more than the AOSP way but I wanted to have the 3-dot menu mod.
As the Mod is now available for odexed 1.78 ROMs and the Virtuos ROM isn't updated I'm thinking about keeping the stock ROM, clean it in parts with the ROM Cleaner and then apply the Mod (and maybe some other also) to still get OTA Updates.
My Question now is: What does the phone need to get the OTA Updates?
Somewhere I read that it would need the default recovery, is this true? and what else does it need? I want to have CWM to make nandroids etc. - would it be necessary to unlock the bootloader, flash CWM and reflash the default recovery if there are OTAs?
Also I'm thinking about changing the phone from a branded Vodafone one to the default HTC Eu version like this. Does this make it possible to receive OTA from HTC after flashing an RUU and what do I have to consider?
With an official ruu (eg. EU) you should always get updates. Although devs update moreoften.

Thank you for the answer!
But what can you modify and still get OTA Updates? I'm thinking as said about if the CWM as Recovery etc. affects the "OTA-Ability"
You need stock recovery, Stock ROM, All the stock bloatware. you may even need re locked bootloader.
its easier to run an RUU or wait for ROM devs to include the update into the ROM

Okay, so no chance to modify it a little bit without affecting the OTA ability
I have a nandroid of the default ROM so then I think I should be able to make an OTA by restoring the nandroid, flashing the signed stock recovery and then give it a try?! - As said the Phone is brandet so flashing a RUU would be a little bit more riskier
Mh... I'll just try it when the net OTA is there
My Problem now just is that the Virtuos ROM isn't up to date and every other ROM doesn't fit my needs
The MoDaCo is very "*****y" (doesn't want to boot sometimes) and misses the "Facebook for HTC Sense" and "Twitter for HTC Sense" apps...
Oh and if somebody is interested:
I got my phone changed without any discussion from Vodafone. They just sent me a new one and the delivery boy took my old back to Vodafone.
you could certainly try the Nandroid way ! lots have people have successfully done it this way
