Need help to start modding my Magic. - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

Hi All.
OK, I've rooted my Vodafone HTC Magic.
Now. I'd like to install one of those new firmwares, how can I install them?
I'm looking to get a little bit more speed out of the sucker, multitouch, and all those nice things I see in this forum.
Cheers

The same way you rooted your phone? with the recovery-new.img ?
Download a firmware which is compatible with your phone.
rename the .zip to update.zip and put it on your SD
(fastboot via CMD, type the following commands on your desktop not on the device):
fastboot boot recovery-new.img
Fastboot, back-up with nandroid, reboot.
Copy nandroid folder from SD to your PC. (If you want to go back to Vodafone firmware)
Put update.zip on the SD and fastboot again.
Whipe and update.
(whipe clears everything.)
I got the Google ION R3 Lite from nk02.
And i have a Dutch Vodafone Magic.

thanks for that.
I managed to figure it out and I'm running a new firmware!
No.
What different firmware are there out there for magic? what are the features of each?
Cheers

You got an Hero Rom, HTC orignal rom, Google ION rom, Haykuro's Rom and some other provider roms like vodafone sfr and a italion one.
maybe some more which i didn't found yet.

thanks mate.
I'm mainly looking for a rom that is both fast and stable.
Any recommendations?
Are these roms covered somewhere else? what they come with and etc?

I got my first rom yesterday and that's the:
nk02's Google ION Multilanguage R3 Lite
It got 3 verions in 2 different types. Lite and with addons
R1
R2
R3
It's got the new google voice search. and some few extra's.
Got 2 minor bugs but they are not annoying or a real big problem.
Date format and no dutch type language.
I rather type for myself, hate auto word filling.
Noverca HTC Rom - Vodafone Magic
Hero Rom for G2 Sapphire
Rogers ROM for Sapphire G2 Magic
and some more, but you have to search the forum or other pages for that.

Hero ROMS

hello all,
i am looking to buy the htc hero phone, but not long had my magic. i am able to flash and ROMS not a problem but i am interested in a few fthings
1- does the hero roms have the 7 changeable screens
2- and can you post some screen shots of the roms produced
thank you
Hero on Magic
Yes they do have the seven screens... and screenshots are usually in the rom's threads... is the same hero gui as in the original rom and you can find videos in youtube... the only difference you will find is maybe a couple of widgets missing in the ported version and a couple of things that aren't working propertly deppending on the rom... some of them have problems with led lights, others with wifi, g-sensor, etc... as far as i know none of them are able to activate and use bluetooth propertly yet.
I've installed a couple myself... very nice to play for a while, not for everyday use at least for me... i need speedy roms ...
The one by qteknology is by far the best Hero ROM. Runs as fast as the Magic's stock ROM but still a couple of bugs to be ironed out but nothing major.
As far as I know the only the only things to be fixed are
1. The skewed camera angle (can be temp fixed by going to video first then back to camera or installing Rogers Camera)
2. Bluetooth audio
3. Screen rotation
4. All the LED lights not working
fast and stable rom
This is a good, fast and stable rom from smartphones france (spfrance), it's Multilingual (French English, Spanishn Italian, German, Dutch)
It's based on the hero rom but has elements of the magic rom
Configuration:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32b SHIP S-off G
HDBOOT-1.33.2004 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.19.26i
Can't find anything wrong with it.

Be carefull about the qteknology ROM tho.
I have a Vodafone Magic 32B and i did not manage to get it working.
Followed all the examples, ubuntu, partitions, recovery rom partition... Didn't work.
Kept looping at the splash-screens.
So take a backup before you try anything, luckily i had.
Different experience: I have a SFR Magic phone (not Vodaphone) but 32B. And Qteknology works perfectly (with Hero bug) since the first time. Try the superb recovery image from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=530492 to partition correctly your SD card (backup before).
The GSensor (screen rotation) issue has been resolved in Qteknology ROM.
Some LEDs work but not all (depending on the ROM)
Bluetooth issue is really a mess ...

Unroot/Stock 1.5/1.6 ROM

I've got an HTC Magic (on the UK network Vodafone) and I currently have Amon Ra's recovery and the latest Cyanogen. However, I think there's something wrong with my phone as I can't receive calls (had the same problem on Dwang so it must be the hardware)
So I want to unroot it and load the stock Google 1.5 or 1.6 ROM onto it. I used 'flashrec' to flash the recovery image so I assume I can also use that to flash the backup image it made. However, I don't have the stock/Google 1.5 or 1.6 ROM. Where can I acquire this from?
Will doing these steps get me back to stock? (So I can return the phone, or see if the problem persists)
Or, does anyone have a nandroid backup of their UK Vodafone HTC Magic?
Had no luck PMing others who said they have it. Anyone at all?

Hey all,
kinda new here and hope you guys can help me out.
So i just got this brand new out-of-the-box vodafone htc magic (32a)
It came with 1.5 and of course i decided i had to mess with it.

The best Froyo (Android 2.2) Rom For HTC Dream (G1)

I have been using my HTC G1 for the nearly one year, i actually bought the phone on ebay (used), simply because it had slide-out keyboard.
After i found about Cyanogen mods, i rooted the phone like any other geek and installed Cyanogenmod 6, but the phone was slow and it was frustrating to multi-task. Every time i has a couple of programs running on the background, if i go to the home screen, it will all go blank for a while and then load again.
Then, i decided to downgrade the to Cyanogenmod4, which is 1.6. Everything was working fine, but i wasn't able to enjoy all the cool new features of Froyo. So i started experimenting a lot of Froyo roms aout there to find out the best.
And i finally found the best ROM for G1. It is 'Froyo By Laszlo', the rom is simply phenomenal.
For the 1st time ever with a Froyo rom i was able to multi-task without any issues what so ever, games were working great and it was really fast.
The best thing about this Rom is that, it has all the little features bundled with it, so i don't need to install any additional apps to tweak it, like LauncherPro (fastest launcher for G1), CPU overclocking app is in-built, comcache enable (can switch to swap if you want), MinimalGreen mixed with Gingerbred theme.
You do require
SPL: 1.33.0013d (hboot), RADIO: 2.22.27.08 / 28.25 and EXT 4 PARTITION
Before you flash this Rom. Go to this thread for instructions.
To get the appropriate Radio and HBOOT, go to this thread here. (After getting the Radio and HBOOT, skip the instructions to install Gingerbread Rom and follow the instructions in the above thread to get the Froyo Rom)
It only took me 30mins to install the new Radio, Hboot and Rom.
Try this Rom, if you have a G1 and give it a new life.
dear frend
mega upload dosent work help my whit a torrent or somthing...

[q] ARHD [htc one x]

Just want to say thanks to mike who made the ARHD rom it works nicely on my first HTC handset.
also i have a few queries maybe someone can help me with.
I installed the ARHD version 2.0.0 straight up.
-i notice some occasions of Flickering screen
read in the main thread and some ppl are reporting same experience, so hopefully this is not just my phone.
-after installation, the first step of initial setup wizard, only have like 5 choices of telcom to choose from? is this normal? i m in Australia and with Vodafone and obviously not in the list so i choose some random telco. is this ok? what does these choices matter to the setup???
Thanks!
Try the latest (v3.1) version of the ROM. It supposed to run very smoothly.
thanks mate.
I just update to the latest ARHD to date, 3.1.0.
Its been so good so far!
