Sweet you made it to the front page

This works for a few things.
This method works for quite a few system images, not just the lockscreen. The problem is knowing which images to change in which folders. I would love to have some kind of annotated list from a handy website. I found something similar for editing Windows resource files where everything was numbered and mapped for convenience, but I haven't found anything like it for Android. Does it exist?

That would be great, but locations and file names can vary between devices/carriers/builds... it would be a massive list.

Note to OP: Nice and simple write-up - thanks! - but GIMP should work just as well as Photoshop (for us free-loaders)

Awesome guide, thx alot. Worked like a charm.
Btw where would i go to change the home, back and recent apps color?

Hey Josepho1997, I want to thank you for this tutorial and I'll definitely give this a try once I have CM10 Early Build on my SIII. I also have a YouTube channel and if anyone wants, I can definitely make a video on How to Edit the PNGs and how the final product looks like

Wicked good tutorial!

Awesome job man
I simply changed mine from White to ICS Blue

Quick Update:
Turns out that on my Galaxy SIII, with the Jelly Bean based CM10, while over writing the Framework-res.apk, it causes the ROM to crash. I tried this same method on the Ice Cream Sandwich CM9 and it worked like a charm. I have a feeling that the ROM, since it's still in an Alpha stage caused the crash. Once a better and more stable version is released, then I'll test it out again
I'll try to make the tutorial either this weekend or the next for the ICS based CM9.

when i right click on framework-res.apk it doesnt give me a option to choose 7zip

You probably didn't select the option for it to display in the menu when you installed 7zip. Just open 7zip and browse to the framework_res.apk

Just as soon as I have 8 posts I can add the animated GIF...
I posted it over on the cyanogenmod forums as well with the gif. I could link you...but I don't have enough posts. =)
Also... not flashable!
well, keep posting! hows the weather there?
Hah! Good idea. I would have just spammed the 8 posts but they also impose a 5 minutes between posts rule for n00bz, and I have a short attention span.
Eight! I will add the GIF to the first post...
ugh, i always forget how to push these things...its always quirky for me. i should just write down the exact steps...
How do you get the sound to work? I've tried adding sounds files to different boot animations by copying the file to /system/media but it's never worked for me.

Not sure about other AOSP roms.. I am running CM7.
To get it working under CM7, I first flashed the transformers audio zip from this link:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/7433-flashable-zip-boot-screen-audio/
It includes a script which enables boot screen audio.
Then, replace the android_audio.mp3 file in /system/media with any other mp3 -- in this case, you would use the one I have provided.. just rename to android_audio.mp3.

[REQ] Red and black theme

Hi All Themers!
Im just wondering if any of you could try porting this to the transformer; Im a fan of the red and black color combo so wondering if you try this; unfortunately I not themer savvy or something like that; here's a link of it for a Xoom tab..
http://www.xoomforums.com/forum/bazar6-themes/3056-theme-stockred-v4-updated-9-12-a.html
thanks!
[edit] btw, im on revolver 3.2.1
I agree that looks like an awesome theme, would love it to be ported too.
anyone?

Agree the red theme is awesome. What are your favourite themes now? I've had my transformer for about 2 Weeks now I haven't rooted it yet still looking for themes, apps, etc...

Hatman has done some great themes including red here. I believe he themes primarily for Prime but you might want to look at trying it out.
It's an excellent looking theme. I have it on my transformer and it looks great. I don't know how to port, I just replaced images on mine with this one. Only thing I couldn't change was the clock color but rest is ok.
Couple of screenshots..

yep im currently testing hatmans themes and its very similar with this theme
@alex9090
that looks awesome! lol we have the same home screen ; by replacing the picks, do you mean by using the villaintheme method? i actually prefer the xoom home icons; is it possible to just flash that part of the systemui file and retain the rest of hatmans theme?
thnx
^^ I just used 7zip and replaced images and pushed systemui.apk and framework etc with root explorer. I was able to change to red clock also after decompiling.

sounds easy enough! thnx! btw, when you zipped it back, did you just rename the .zip to .apk or did you use zip themer as you mentioned on the lock screen post?
Edit:
well, tried editing the systemui.apk file using apk editor but i ended up losing the home buttons....anyway u could post ur systemui.apk file? thnx
Don't actually extract the files when you're using 7zip or Winrar. Just open the systemui.apk with it and drag the images in the archive. I'll post the apk as soon as I get the chance.

Way unrelated question, but I guess I'll ask anyway %)
From the source link, that guy have interesting detail on the screenshot. Loomk like he has some kind of widget with switches in opened (but not extended) notification bar, which looks very nice. Is it some part of theme or it's some kind of app? I'd like to get one of thouse! Don't want to register on xoom forum just to ask that one question, though... Can't google it also, too many similar stuff but not what I'm looking for.
There are a couple of widgets...

[Cornerstone][Theme] Cornerstone themes

For those of you who are interested in Cornerstone I took the liberty of putting a little theme together. Keep in mind this is a work in progress and i would appreciate any suggestions or tips.
Before you do anything back up your CSPanel.apk file
Rename to CSPanel.apk
Close Cornerstone
Go to system /app
delete CSPanel.apk (or copy elsewhere and rename)
Copy Modded file to /system/app
Install app
restart Cornerstone
Oh ya this is totally unauthorized so none of the brilliant developers (cyanogen(mod) or Team Eos) should be held responsible if your tab blows up or takes over the world. I as well will take no responsibility if anything happens to your device.
Just incase i'm putting the original CSPanel up as well.
Both Versions have simmilar changes.
Cornerstone Logo replaced
Ugly blue window active bar replaced.

ricardopvz CM9- Cornerstone :
Plans for the future:
In order
1. Effects when button presses (this weekend probably)
2. Change the fonts on the window app name thing (this weekend probably)
3. all the icons
4. Make the divider bar between the windows smaller or transparent (as soon as i figure out how)
5. Make the whole thing blend a little better into the system and not just a giant black box with apps in it (as soon as i figure out how)
(pretty much everything else)
Started checking this out on Saturday so i'm still learning. First theme so please be gentle.

This one is obviously Team Eos and i am currently working on one for the CM9 version.
Essentially all that has been done for now is changed the logo and the horrible blue bar that shows when a window is active.
Rename to CSPanel.apk
Close Cornerstone
Go to system /app
delete CSPanel.apk (or copy elsewhere and rename)
Copy Modded file to /system/app
restart Cornerstone

Followed the instructions and even took the extra step of updating the permissions and it told me the app wasn't installed. So, I installed it and everything is running fine.
Nice job. Looks great. Just wanted to share my experience in case others run into the same thing.
good to see another themer here. Just a hint it might be easier to just use villan theme installer rather than replacing apk's as then you do not have the issue of apk corruption or people complaining about loosing the app when they have done something wrong

Updated to include CM9 version and original just in case.
Any ideas on how to make this really cool?
Plus I did check out Villain themer... seems from what I read if you flash the from the changes go away. This may be good for the future but since for each release of the Team EOS and CM9 you have to reflash the rom so it may not work.

Custom Themes

Hi all! Since I've got more then 100 downloads in the first 2 themes I've decided to launch the 3rd one with a thread
These themes are made for ICS dock tho they can be used on other bases, and they are a product of some research of themes available on other places (except theme 2 my creation) with a lot of tweaks and adds made by me so they feel more complete. Except theme 1 all others were made from scratch, taking some hours in front of pc
They need a bit of work to set them up but i think its not much for the result. All the step by step tutorials are in the zip files, as most of the things you need.
Since 4G doesn't have ICS, on guide skip the part that you choose on Workaround for some ap... "For Honeycomb Tablet" as this only applies to ICS
For those that don't have photoshop i uploaded the PNG files of the themes (only problem is you can't change wallpapers, icons, text, anything). Still you will be able to have the theme
I'm not an expert and I don't present myself as one, I just love these themes and decided to share them with you guys and hope you all enjoy them.
These themes are not to FLASH!! Please read the guide

Ok you put the PNG files in you sdcard (home.png, internet.png and so on)
When you setting up the multipicture live wallpaper you will have to pic them from the sdcard to make the theme work.

The same way you do with apex. But on photoshop you can lower the dock height as its not need to be so high
Wish there was a simple way to set these up, a theme installer would be dope, that way you could easily return to other setups. Love the look of all the themes, next time I try a new ROM I will try the second one.

Cool trick for Android users

Go to Settings > About device > keep tapping Android version
[For 4.x users]
Press and hold the android..
And watch all the androids take over your screen
This should work on all phones running Android. I am aware that some know about this, but for those who did not know.. enjoy!!
The jellybean version is also funny. You can interact with the beans and flip them away off the screen :silly:

I get a picture of zombie art
Sent from the darkest part of your closet
It might be rom based (Need confirmation) as my stock gingerbread sense rom had a different easter egg than the cm7 which is the zombie art.
Also this didn't work on a MIUI XJ rom which suggest the eastern eggs are rom based and can differ from one android version to another or similar. (Again, need confirmation.)

No, I believe the point was to teach an Android trick. This trick on any gingerbread rom and upper version that supports it.
And also as you can see from the screens you might get another easter egg on another rom should its creator decides so.
