Android 4.04 and Flash - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have just GEDified my non-USA Xoom and and am enjoying ICS.
Much smoother and I think the screen seems clearer and brighter
However I am just getting used to Chrome and have noticed some sites with video behave differently on Chrome compared to the stock browser.
On Chrome I get an error message saying I need Flash 9.0 or higher and on the stock the video plays. I have Flash 11.0 installed.
Any ideas?

Ignore this. I've found the "answer" but not a solution on another forum. All very confusing.

If anyone is interested, the answer is: Chrome doesn't support flash.

Does it if you side load on JB?
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium

No. Adobe will only allow it on the stock browser, not Chrome.

It is but you can download the ICS stock browser in JB through the market then manually download and install the flash APK to get flash in JB. It will never be available in Chrome mobile unless adobe make a big backtrack on their current policies.

Adobe Flash - 4.1 Jelly Bean

So as we are all aware Adobe said they wouldn't support flash in Jelly Bean, as stated here - http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/375574/adobe-kills-off-flash-for-android
Of course on the Jelly Bean ROM I'm running flash doesn't appear in the market, but when I installed the apk, flash worked perfectly on a number of websites.
Just out of curiosity I was wondering if anyone knew the reason as to why it still works?! This is not a huge update to ICS so may be due to that but I was just being interested and wondering. Anyone have any insight?
Cheers guys.
EDIT: I have attached the adobe flash apk, the latest one. Install it on your device manually if you're running jelly bean and flash should work. Although I think we have established it will only work in the default android browser
They've only stopped support, doesn't mean that it won't work but if it doesn't on certain devices then they won't fix it or support it, because it's not a massive update there's a very good chance that it will work.
Basically the apk is the android software, the Google Play store filters out Adobe flash because you are running Android 4.1 jelly bean which explains why you cannot find it in the Google Play store.
When you install the apk, it will still work because Adobe have only stopped support for it, they haven't disabled it or blocked it. The term 'support it' means to give the product updates and provide help for users. Adobe are no longer providing updates (apart from security updates) and help to users for Adobe flash on android.

Hmm, can someone share the adobe flash apk to me? Or better a place that gives updates to it? Lol Thanks

Ya it only work on Browse default by G. Opera work on the Opera for mobile not Opera mini.
I've added the latest adobe flash apk to the OP so people running jelly bean can get hold of it more easily
I tried the apk. In 1st post I still get messages telling me to install a flashplayer . Any ideas

Use the stock browser. If you're using any other browser it may/may not work/may work slightly. But the apk in the OP is pulled from my motorola xoom and i have it installed and it was working on youtube and various other flash sites through the stock browser.
Dolphin HD browser won't load flash (and has a nasty nag screen if you try to enable it).
Many thanks for the information from here and other sources, as a result of which I've managed to get Flash sites working on the Nexus 7. In case it helps the non-technical, I've blogged full step by step instructions with screenshots on how to install Flash on the Nexus 7 and set up browsers (with link back to this thread), at my blog at consumingexperience.com (sorry, I'm new here so can't post a working link direct to the post).
I've tested several browsers and listed the results and browser settings in that post. Mainly I've tried them on UK TV catchup sites ie BBC iPlayer, 4od, Demand Five, ITV Player.
In summary, generally on the Nexus 7 I found Firefox Aurora (with the Phony add-on) and XScope to be the most reliable so far. An older version of Dolphin does work, but not as well. I couldn't get either Opera Mobile or Opera Mini to work.
Thanks again!
Thank you so much for this! I had another apk that everyone claimed was working fine but I have the CM10 preview build for Verizon Galaxy Nexus and couldn't play any videos until I tried your apk.

I didn't really test firefox for android,i dont even use it on pc (IE9 is faster) but since it's stated on their official site i assume it would integrate seamlessly with flash once it's installed. Try installing it and test it.

It will work. Been using it for a few hours and seems to be playing nicely! However, I could never get it to work with Chrome.. Firefox is better anyhow.

PSA: You can still download Flash for Android directly from Adobe's website.

Yes. It works fine for me. Not supported in Chrome, but works in Browser, Opera, and Firefox. Skyfire supports Flash natively, so it won't affect Skyfire at all. I'm using it fine on JB 4.1.1.
EDIT: It won't brick your phone. The most that will happen is it simply won't work, and will take up space doing nothing. If it doesn't work for you, simply uninstall it, and it will be gone.
Wow
I can't even believe that it is that simple. I'm running CM10.1 (2/3/13) and this worked without a hitch using the CM Browser. Bravo!
So again, another reason why android beats iPhone. Lol

no chrome support for flash. newer dolphin builds also disable it. I have tested it successfully with stock, firefox, tint, and maxathon browsers. I think boat browser works as well. jb still supports flash in sdk so unless the app takes steps to disable it (eg dolphin, chrome) there are many options.

Flash on KitKat/GS5

If anyone is interested and hasn't already discovered this on their own, Firefox has made flash work again. Just download and install the newest version of Firefox. Then go to http://download.macromedia.com/pub/...roid/11.1.115.81/install_flash_player_ics.apk. download and install this version of flash and go to town. Some sites will recognize the mobile browser and disable flash, but switching to the desktop mode will bypass this
