Adobe Flash - 4.1 Jelly Bean - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So as we are all aware Adobe said they wouldn't support flash in Jelly Bean, as stated here - http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/375574/adobe-kills-off-flash-for-android
Of course on the Jelly Bean ROM I'm running flash doesn't appear in the market, but when I installed the apk, flash worked perfectly on a number of websites.
Just out of curiosity I was wondering if anyone knew the reason as to why it still works?! This is not a huge update to ICS so may be due to that but I was just being interested and wondering. Anyone have any insight?
Cheers guys.
EDIT: I have attached the adobe flash apk, the latest one. Install it on your device manually if you're running jelly bean and flash should work. Although I think we have established it will only work in the default android browser

They've only stopped support, doesn't mean that it won't work but if it doesn't on certain devices then they won't fix it or support it, because it's not a massive update there's a very good chance that it will work.

Basically the apk is the android software, the Google Play store filters out Adobe flash because you are running Android 4.1 jelly bean which explains why you cannot find it in the Google Play store.
When you install the apk, it will still work because Adobe have only stopped support for it, they haven't disabled it or blocked it. The term 'support it' means to give the product updates and provide help for users. Adobe are no longer providing updates (apart from security updates) and help to users for Adobe flash on android.

Hmm, can someone share the adobe flash apk to me? Or better a place that gives updates to it? Lol Thanks

Ya it only work on Browse default by G. Opera work on the Opera for mobile not Opera mini.

I've added the latest adobe flash apk to the OP so people running jelly bean can get hold of it more easily

I tried the apk. In 1st post I still get messages telling me to install a flashplayer . Any ideas

Use the stock browser. If you're using any other browser it may/may not work/may work slightly. But the apk in the OP is pulled from my motorola xoom and i have it installed and it was working on youtube and various other flash sites through the stock browser.

Dolphin HD browser won't load flash (and has a nasty nag screen if you try to enable it).

Many thanks for the information from here and other sources, as a result of which I've managed to get Flash sites working on the Nexus 7. In case it helps the non-technical, I've blogged full step by step instructions with screenshots on how to install Flash on the Nexus 7 and set up browsers (with link back to this thread), at my blog at consumingexperience.com (sorry, I'm new here so can't post a working link direct to the post).
I've tested several browsers and listed the results and browser settings in that post. Mainly I've tried them on UK TV catchup sites ie BBC iPlayer, 4od, Demand Five, ITV Player.
In summary, generally on the Nexus 7 I found Firefox Aurora (with the Phony add-on) and XScope to be the most reliable so far. An older version of Dolphin does work, but not as well. I couldn't get either Opera Mobile or Opera Mini to work.
Thanks again!

Thank you so much for this! I had another apk that everyone claimed was working fine but I have the CM10 preview build for Verizon Galaxy Nexus and couldn't play any videos until I tried your apk.

Adobe Flash on GT-P5113 ?

I am also mourning the loss of our favorite Adobe Flash Player in Play Store. Bunch of timids, I say! Give up so easily to that rotten apple? .. I know, I know, the whole html5's grand entrance... The thing is many sites (abc etc.) have not moved over and they do require flash. Not a win in my books!
Anyway, Tab 2 10.1" doesn't want to play any flash content after installing the apk. Tried even few different versions with no luck. Got the blue lego with "?". Does anyone have a definitive guide or procedure to make it work; preferably on default browser or chrome :fingers-crossed:. If that is not possible, can download another browser (ugh).
Try this version latest work perfectly in cm10 stock browser
http://db.tt/TSLOgKcR
If you are in jelly bean cm10 i think will work
If you use dolphin and it did not work try old version of it by side loading
Always make sure in browser setting to make sure plugin as always on
As i know chrome will never operate flash it is html5 browser
So try stock and dolphin or older version of it

Got it working finally! Some content seems to hang though.. for example, watching Family Guy on Fox.com would work until the ads come. Sometimes it goes through them and other times, it just hangs. Anyway, it's better than not having it work at all. :good:
Flash works on my Samung Galaxy Tab 2
Hello,
I downloaded the version of Adobe Flash found in this link mentioned above. It is Adobe Flash Player 11.1-111115012.apk
I put it on my external SD card and then put the card into my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. I installed the app. I also downloaded the Firefox browser app from Google Play. Flash works in the stock browser and in the Firefox app but not in Chrome. I did not need to use the Dolphin browser app.
Oh, I have Model GT-P3113. I just bought it a week ago and it has all the latest updates.
I was able to watch a show on ABC's web site. I have yet to try others.
I hope this helps.

Adobe Flash Player on CM10 please help!!

I changed from CM9 to CM10 one week ago and I'm pretty satisfied with it. Except of that there is no flash player at all.
I searched all threads and posts on XDA and the web but i couldn't find any solution for this problem which works on the one s. This issue is very important to me because 90% of the whole websites still including flash player and browsing without it sucks big time!! I already installed the flash player apk but still can't get it to run. For me its one of the most important tools and i badly need it. Thats why i started this thread. Thanks for any answers :good:

Restore from Titanium backup? Paul O'Brian had a flash downloader app but it was pulled from the Market...maybe someone can upload?
to get the apk isn't the problem. i already installed this, but it will not work. the app by itself is working fine (i open it like on cm9 and it goes straight via browser to settings and it allows me to change the option) but when i open for example youtube by boat or dolphin it opens the usual flash window and it starts to load but this is it..
I remember reading something about Adobe Flash player not getting support anymore for 4.0.4.
The stock browser supports flash anything else like Dolphin will not work.

Need help about flash player

Hi, I haven't yet the Galaxy s3 but i want to ask you a question.. for me the flash player is important then I read that there is a possibility to install it because in the market android there isn't (i'm italian then in my nation this app isn't in the market)
then, it's secure install an app not recognized by the sytem? there is a kind of lag and things like this or it's perfect?
now, i want to know how i can install this,
1) first of all i must allow Unknown Sources when prompted or else it will not install
2) then I must download the file flash_player version 11.1.115.27, right?
3) finally run the stock browser
right? help me please

You are right. Unfortunately adobe flash is not supported on android 4.0 so just use Dolphin Beta or Chrome. I was a big adobe flash fan but when I upgraded to the S3 it took me a while to get used to not having flash. I found Chrome (specialy the newest version) is not that bad also Dolphin Beta. I use the 2 regularly.

That is so misleading. There are still many sites out there that use flash that you can't view without using the now unsupported flash application and a browser that supports it, like the stock browser on GSIII. I use chrome, but occasionally call the stock browser for sites with flash.

HTML5 may be the future, but Flash is still very much the present. Don't let the Apple-esque mindsets tell you otherwise. Flash is necessary for a complete web experience. Get the Flash APK, install it, and enjoy. It will appear in your market under your apps afterward and will update normally.
I use the Android browser with it, and it works fine. As stated, other 3rd party browsers will work well with Flash, too.

How do I get it to show up in the Play store? I just manually updated from version .17 to .27, although Adobe's flash player test page shows it's still .17(?). Neither version of Flash player shows up in the Play store for me, under the installed or all tabs.
I ~believe~ the process I used was side-loading the Flash .apk file and using Astro file manager to install it. After that, it showed up for my S III in the Play Store.
Hmm. I used dropbox to put it on my sdcard, then installed through ES File Explorer. ES/Astro - same thing, right? Oh well, at least it's functional.

3 questions...please help

I'm running the ultra fast rom on my rooted/unlocked transformer and have 3 questions/problems that are driving me nuts.
1) Can anyone tell me why I can't get any audio or video display on my samsung tv when attempting to use my hdmi out cable? No video or sound on the tablet or the tv?
2) I've installed flash player but I can't get it to actually work. Anyone have any suggestions?
3) What is everyones opinion of the best JB Rom/kernel to run on this? I'm pretty happy with the ultra fast rom but I still like to switch it up every so often.
Thank you to anyone who takes the time to attempt to help me. I appreciate it.
What are you trying to play? Like a movie on the device? Like off a memory card or its internal memory? or are you streaming something from a website(my assumption since you said you installed flash) try playing pandora or youtube. See if that outputs anything.
As far as the HDMI problem is concerned, I'm trying to thrown Droid TV Primetime over to my tv but I've also tried youtube and am unsuccessful with that also.
The flash problem I only really notice when I'm trying to watch an online fight or stream something similar to that.
Thanks for your time.
Adobe chose to discontinue support for Flash Player on Android JB. They're trying to push everyone to use HTML5. I'm sure there is info around on the forums about how to use flash or how to use a flash alternative, but that's why your flash player won't work.
I know I flashed a JB rom and hated it, but while I was on it I used Dolphin Browser and it has a built-in alternative to flash that still works. Give that a try.

The main thing that I'm trying to do is to use Droid TV and throw it up on the tv for the bigger screen. I've tried youtube but get the same results. It's been a while since I've tried but if my memory serves me, I couldn't even get a home video to play on the tv.
The flash problem is a different problem as I'm just trying to stream UFC fights for football games, things of that nature. I've tried my built in browser, Dolphin browser and another called Xperia Scope or something along those lines and get nothing. Thanks again for trying to help.

2. Like was already mentioned, Flash isn't supported anymore.
3. I'm pleased with the CyanogenMod 10.1 (Android 4.2.1) custom ROM for the TF300T (see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2055430). It's not the absolute fastest, but it has nightlies, and even though the developer has a lot on his plate he's been responsive and helpful.

Just to make sure I wasn't crazy (I tried to sideload Flash Player before on the TF300T and it didn't work, but you made me second-guess it for a minute!), I went to that site and checked out the downloads:
1. Double-checked the link on the Flash Player site (http://www.adobe.com/flashplatform/certified_devices/), and the TF300T isn't on the supported list.
2. Tried sideloading the latest Flash Player for Android 4.0 devices further down the page ("Flash Player 11.1 for Android 4.0 (11.1.115.36)"), and it installed fine, but then when I tried to play a video on Amazon Instant Videos it says that the version isn't supported.
So yes, technically you can install it, but it does you no good. (Unless you can verify another method, UndisputedGuy.)
Look in the archived section in the link that's in one of the last few posts of that thread. Scroll down and you should see the latest flash player for android there. I've played flashed games on stock browser on JB

Right...that's exactly the same link and download file that I tried. I installed that exact .apk file and then tried to play a Flash video on Amazon and it wouldn't work.
I am using JB, but it's the newest release (4.2.1, through CM 10.1). Not sure if that matters at all.
I'm not on JB 4.2, i'm just on stock and unrooted 4.1. I tried flash in stock browser (loaded up a flash game) and it worked although it was slower than previously.

Aah, if that's the case, I wasn't aware of that. I was trying to play a video from here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005HEVCUQ/ref=wtls_list_pr_7?ie=UTF8&redirect=true
If sideloading Flash will only allow you to play games and other Flash videos (besides streaming services), that makes sense why I still wasn't able to, and UndisputedGuy was.
Flash
I was running into the same problem of after sideloading Flash, not having it work on any browsers for streaming something. I'm glad to know that it's not just me. Thanks for everyone's help and discussion on this. Much appreciated.

That's the link I used as well, but it's gone now due to violating Google's Terms of Service.
Here's another one that's still available:

Ok. I will try dolphin in future. But Firefox is better for me..
Just tried this, Puffin and other Flash Browsers for S5, and was told that due to KitKat restrictions it was no longer possible for flash to be emulated on cloud and used on KitKat.
It works

of course theyll say that.. technically its not supported but theres always a way.. its working for others including myself.. i just sideload the last android flash apk n use dolphin n if for some reason it wont run i switch to desktop mode.. if its not working for you then youre doing something wrong. you cant confirm its not working on vzw s5 when clearly it is for others

I retract my previous post, after hunting down the .apk and installed it, I am now able to have Flash on Puffin(I own the full version). Thanks!

I was unable to get it to work in Firefox, was there something I needed to do once it was installed IN firefox to get it to work?

I checked request desktop site, and then in settings under display I switched plugins to enabled.

Now see, I tried that, and it wouldn't work. I installed it right, it works fine on Puffin, but for some reason Firefox hates me.
Thanks!
