[Q] compass wont point north - Samsung Galaxy Fit GT 5670

My compass wont point to north any more, instead WEST direction is shown as NORTH now
I dont know how this happened
Foy,I am currently using chocobread rom,but i dont think its the roms fault
I tried realibrating the compass by moving it like 8,but that didnt work
And i didnt place my phone near large speakers/magnets

try calibrating it by moving the device in 8 like shape while the phone is facing the sky

i think, many of custom rom have bad sensor rotation...so, if you want to make sure why your compass wont point north, use stock first..

Tried EVERYTHING
Tried moving my phone like 8
Even installed a new ROM (Cyan Mobile)
It still wont point NORTH :/

anybody??

Try a Original Rom and see if the problem persist. Maybe is the Hardware.

Tried stock rom
Still have the prob

Move it like a vertical 8 it can calibrate it.

[Q] How to calibrate accelerometer?

Hello, my accelerometer seems to be off, tilting to the left by about 10 degrees. That is really annoying. I have tried some calibration apps but nothing worked.
Has anybody had any success in recalibrating the accelerometer?
Do you know any app/script to something that i can adjust the damn phone to its correct level?
Help would be appreciated
You can calibrate in the settings

thanks, but this only calibrates my gyroscope on a flat surface. I am having problems on the Horizontal axis holding the phone up
P.S I think that the calibration does not work on the leaked ICS

GPS doesn't play nice

First post in this forum, coming from both HTC Desire HD and Motorola Defy forums.
Just got a Atrix 2 from the market place and I like it. I was having issues with reception on my HTC phones in my basement. Someone suggested I try a Motorola because of they get great reception. I bought a Defy and sure enough 15 -20 dbMs better in my basement.
I just couldn't get use to the smaller screen on the defy so I picked up this phone to try it out.
My issue is that the GPS works, no issues with maps, nav or GPS status and tools. However, faster fix and my golfing app won't work? Faster fix just sits there with a white screen and my golfing GPS app tells me that my settings for the GPS are wrong?
Anyone else with these issues? I have my phone rooted but haven't flashed any new roms yet.
Thanks in advance.
Wow, over 200 views and no response! Am I the only one with this issue?
Would be nice to know if flashing a different rom solved this issue as I'm still on the original. I thought I would wait a couple of weeks before I started flashing again as it's been a nice break, lol.
I am having the exact same issues but with my jogging apps. None of them can get a location for me.

Crazy Backbutton

Hello,
my Backbutton activates itself. While I am watching Videos, or whatever I do it stops shining and I am out of every application I'm using. After about half a minute it's shining again and I can use it normally. It's like pushing the button multiple times. Does anyone has an idea how to fix it? I tried different roms but it looks like an hardware failure to me.

Happened to me as well it is an issue sometimes with samsung but covered under warranty bring it in to sprint
Hit the thanks button if i helped
Sending it back for support is not an option for me. I imported my device from the US to Germany. The support at Samsung Germany told me that they are not responsible for AMOLED devices.
My second problem ist that my IMEI is crashed since I flashed a rom where the dev made a little mistake. So Samsung won't give me any support.
I thought about changing the display but the price for a new one is about 190 Euro. Way too much... I can assemble and disassemble the device but I think that cleaning the device will not solve the problem.
Any suggestions?

It has nothing to do with the display though.
That's likely the part failing:

http://stellatech.com/samsung-gt-i9020-nexus-s-ui-flex,a,en,810423.html
Verify that the one you currently have isn't simply not connected right.
Thank you. I will have a look if the part is not right connected.
Maybe I have to replace it. But in that case 25 Euro are much cheaper than 190.

This happened to me once. A day later my display completely died. I could turn on my phone, answer calls, etc the touchscreen worked, but I couldnt see anything. I had to get a new one..
I had this problem too.
I flashed a different radio, and boom!! issue resolved
I occasionally get this too. It only comes up when I'm using cm/cm based kernels though, very odd. I'm on matrix right now and it seems to Beowulf, anybody have some tips or suggestions?
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
I tried a different kernel and it looks like the problem is solved. I know that you should not count your chickens before they are hatched. But I really think that the kernel was the problem.
Anyway, I am just happy that my phone is working properly.
And now I am waiting for jellybean.

It was not the Kernel!

It's Alive!
I don't see how the kernel would have anything to do with the backbutton. Although if it worked out then hey that's awesome. Amazing how much I have learned by reading the forums on this site.:victory:
Just clean off the the backbutton, and maybe it will stop or you have a software bug.

[Q] Network Signal on ICS port

Hi people, could anybody help. I have flashed the ICS port to my P920 but im having issues with the network signal. Everytime i get to work i lose the network signal on my phone. As soon as i step outside the office i get it back. There are times in the office that the signal would appear for about a minute or so then disappear again. Is there anyway i can boost the signal or do anything on it to make it work within the office. Im currently running V21E baseband, i've tried V21A baseband but still the same issue. Any help would be appreciated
have you tried diffrent basebands?

no i havent tried the other basebands, just the V21A and V21E. I guess im going to have to go through them 1 by 1 . I downgraded back to gingerbread but i get the 0% battery problem so i had to put it back on to ICS so i feel buggered either way lol. Out of curiousity does anybody else have the issue where the lockscreen displays both Seoul time and London time and the lockscreen clock style cannot be changed?
you have to read a little bit so you find that v18a works well with ported ics, so flash v18a.
Edit: same issue with clock

Ok thanks for the heads up, i'll start with the V18A, hopefully that sorts my issue.
Any reason why the clock is playing up? is there any fixes for it?

I seem to be having the 0% battery problem on the ICS rom now as well. It is so annoying and i cant even use the phone without it being plugged in. Is there any way to fix this anybody or if i buy a new battery will it sort the problem?

GPS/maps

Is there fix for GPS/google maps to show you facing the right direction? When in compass/normal mode I turn to the left and it shows me going right, I'm facing one way its facing the other and vice versa..it's really irritating.. and it places me a block from where I actually am so I can't really get directions with Google maps..

Just tried the compass appfrom play store, its almost 90 degrees off....odd....maybe this could be why? (http://www.foxnews.com/science/2013/01/14/perfect-solar-storm-sun-activity-to-peak-in-2013/) I seen something like this on the news a couple weeks back....
Edit after a little more research , where in a geomagnetic storm as of now (http://www.n3kl.org/sun/noaa.html)

I haven't been on a stock ROM since a week after i got this phone lol so I wouldn't know the behavior comparison. If someone could shed some light on this issue because just like you guys I'm having the same problem.

Yea I'm having the same issue. On google maps our phones are as much as 90 degrees off at some points and as little as 10 or so minimum off. Using "compass" from the google market they show about 20 degrees off when stacked on top of each other. One is running stock ICS and the other is running CM10 12/8 nightly with Blue Lightning kernel.

Nothing special just the first one I seen in the market. Seems to be pretty close to google maps when standing still for me on stock and CM10 so I used it as a reference.
Seriously... -_-
My phone is sitting on my desk..facing 90 degrees clockwise..and the locator keeps moving in the street or across the street..facing to 90 degrees to the left..makes no sense..

Has anyone tried the a-gps fix in the dev section? I remember it decreased my lock on time down to like 2-4 seconds but I dont know if it actually will fix direction or anything. I'll try and flash again when my other phone gets home.

I have seen it in the dev section just never tried it, I would now but I don't have enough time, when you get around to it message us the results I'm interested to see if it'll make it a little more accurate or not.

Sure thing, I remember the lock on time was insane with it. I hate using the stock ROM but I need wifi calling at work I never thought I would be using stock while my gf is rolling CM thats for sure.

Running Blaz3r 4. compass off in all apps including GMaps. I suspect its a kernel issue, any insights?
Can someone link to the thread? Did a search but it didnt show up. With liquidsmooth I always have to restart my phone to get it to lock on to GPS.
