JB + Dolphin Browser + Pinch Zoom + Flash. Possible? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The last Dolphin update brought pinch zoom back, but flash is gone. Did anyone manage to get both?

what about install the flash's app?

What OP means is that in the latest Dolphin update, in Android 4.1 devices, it disables flash on all web pages, probably because they didn't want people *****ing at them for something not working right with flash on Jellybean (since Adobe is stopping support for it)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1779559&page=2
In the second page of the thread linked above, there's a workaround for the stock browser that worked for me, (JB+pinch zoom +flash) but i hate the stock browser cause i can't figure out how to default to the desktop agent and I keep getting the mobile version of the sites all the time.
For now i'll keep the previous version of Dolphin, wich dosesnt pinch zoom but plays flash content. The double tap zoom still works.
Until someone come up with something that enables flash on dolphin again.

Did you try in the address bar
about:debug ?
The go to settings. Then press debug and choose desktop.
This has to be done each time you restart the browser.

I'm running Dolphin HD v8.6.1 (latest version as far as I know) along with Eos #85 and flash works as normal, and pinch to zoom too.

Did you receive the message warning that flash was disabled for 4.1 roms the first time you opened Dolphin after the upgrade to version 8.6.1?
Can you see the spheres in the test link below?
http://www.chemgapedia.de/vsengine/info/en/help/requirements/flash.html

Didn't see any warning, and the spheres turn and squeeze in on each other on left and right sides of that test. Haven't a clue what that all means, but seen 2 of the tests were green and the others red.

As transmaniacon said, the new Dolphin HD broswer (8.6.1) does work with flash on Android 4.1.1. I'm running the EOS Wingray Nightly #123, Dolphin HD 8.6.1, and Flash 11.1.115.12. Both Dolphin HD and flash were downloaded directly from the market....i mean play store.
I installed the browser first then flash. After flash installed, I clicked open (not done) and it opened a page with flash player settings....I clicked on always. Then went into Dolphin HD settings and clicked on flash player settings under web content and enabled it.....and your good to go.
I think the key word here is disabled not removed. On Android 4.1 devices, Dolphin disables flash on all web pages but the option is still under the settings to be manually enabled again and stays enabled too.

All I get after the flash install completes is a grey screen with this address https://settings.adobe.com/flashplayer/mobile/

What nightly version are you running? You should get get two options on the screen....the first one says local storage and when you click on it...select flash always. But even if that's not there....did you go into the settings menu in the dolphin browser under Web content and enable flash always?

I'm running the latest Wingray nightly with the latest Gapps
EOS-wingray-20120725-126.zip
Gapps gapps-jb-20120726-eos-signed.zip
I can get these option if I open the Flash config page using the stock browser, but not using Dolphin.
The settings menu for web content in Dolphin will not allow Flash to be enabled, just gives the message that it's been disabled for stability reason with "Ok" and "Tell me more" buttons

Wow...that's interesting. Well.....technically...thinking of all the steps I took. I first tried dolphin HD 8.5.1 and the flash from post #4 in this thread. After that worked I upgraded the browser to 8.6.1 and the flash too.
Sent from my Xoom using xda app-developers app

mine is EOS-Everest. 95 mz601 (mz605, actually).
i've got exactly the same result as nigeldr.
and i can't even install flash from google play, it doesn't show up.
so i istalled it manually, and it works with the stock browser, but not with dolphin.

Like some of the others have said, when I go into Dolphin settings the Flash is still set to 'always on' and always has been since using Dolphin. When I tried to change the setting I got the 'not compatible with 4.1 etc' message.
Looked on the Play Store and as someone said Flash Player is not showing up,though I already have it installed prior to flashing JB. 1st time I went to JB I had some issues,so went back to ICS (EOS 2.0),reflashed JB with latest Gapps (have repeated this process a few times,JB-ICS-JB,wiped cache-dalvik etc) and flash and Dolphin are still in harmony.
Don't know if all this is confusing or enlightening, but that's what I've done with my Xoom over the past few weeks.

They have already said they are not supporting flash and have disabled it for stability reasons. If you want it to work use tne earlier version and disable updating, simple. Rather stupid of them to not 'allow' hs to enable it and take the risk of instability...

This is how I got it to work.

not really sure what you mean here. What are you trying to download? From where?
Trying to download apps from the market and those don't work? Or Trying to download from browser.

il try now. i just tried to download a apk and it downloaded it as a .htm file
edit: nope opened another window and download the file but in a wrong format.
went to another site to try and download a mp3 and it failed right away.
updated with screenshots
When you download a file...long press link and look for "Save link".
Even if it downloads it as an HTML file...look at the size.. i download mp4 video clips all the time and i have to rename "video_file.html" to "video_file.MP4".
So just rename the extension at the end... "app_name.html" to "app_name.apk" as another example
Also sometimes it gives you the chance to rename it (i think it may be Astro File manger related) i use Astro File manager... if you do not have that I suggest you get it. You can also try an alternative web browser such as "Dolphin". If you have an SD card i would change the storage area to the SD card (in your web browsers settings).
And in the Default Android... do not forget to clear your cache every once in awhile... especially if you download allot of files.

My phone works poorly...

Hi. I'm having big problems with my o3d. Since i bought it it works badly.
For example, i've noticed that camera often wont work... it takes long to start..but when it finally starts...won't take pictures...just exits to home screen. Same thing is with the flash light...often won't work...
Than i reboot my phone...that helps...but for a short while..
When i'm trying to call someone it takes about 30 sec to start calling. After i press call...it shows black screen...30 sec more or less... same thing is when someone is calling me...when it starts ringing..it shows black screen..i often missed my calls because of it...it takes a lot for the call to show up on the screen.
Also it takes a long time for aplications to start.
I use to use go launcher, than i reseted my phone and instaled xperia launcher..same thing...and i used his own launcher...and it didn't work better either.
I don't have too many applications installed..
What is the problem? Hardware or software? If it's hardware i could take it to the store and exchange it for a new one.
It is so slow... i'm.going crazy.
Please help...any kind of advice is welcome

I suppose that you still have the stock ROM? To check if your problem is hardware or software related, you cab do a factory reset/wipe (from the phone menu or from the stock recovery).
If after a complete wipe you still have the same problems, then it's most probably hardware related problem and you could send it to the LG service.
Try a full reset
I would suggest to make a complete reset, not only a factory reset (which only wipes user data). To do this, download the update software directly from LG's site and choose the "emergency recovery" option. This will download and install the lattest ROM available for your region, even if it is already installed.
This will make sure that you are running the lattest official ROM, specially if your phone was purchased used. If it is new, the procedure won't void your waranty.
Installing custom rom is not an option because i'll loose warranty.
I did factory reset...and when there's no app instaled...it works fine...but as soon as i install few apps it slows down a lot and takes a lot to open apps...
thx everyone...i'll try that emergancy recovery...

Yes, surelly. You yourself just said that the phone works fine when there are no applications installed. First, I suggest you turn off all data communication on your phone to see if data communication is your problem (3G, Wifi and bluetooth). Then, if it doesn't help, you should uninstall one application at a time to discover which one is the culprit.
I would point out that my phone, sometimes act slowly for some seconds, just like any PC, because it is running some background application that is consuming resources. As soon the app completes, the performance comes back to normal.
Finally, if the problem is as strong as you sound, then your phone probably is deffective and should be sent to service. This phone is one of the best in terms of processor performance, except in terms of RAM memory, which is relatively small in todays standards.

In LGMobile Support Tool, select [Customer Support] Menu then [Recovery Phone] option. Then enter your IMEI. The program will download and install the lattest rom available for your region even if it is already installed. This is usefull to be shure you are not using a corrupted ROM.
If you want to download and install V21E if it is not available to you, download from here and then use the tutorial from the first sticky thread and read this.

I remember I messed up my tablet using the DPI Changer app when I first got it (I think I tried setting DPI to 170 or 180, I don't remember), but I had already made a backup in CWM which I restored and that fixed the problem.
I don't know whether the following will help or not. Have you used the Play Store on your device to download apps? You could try installing a different launcher (that works at the DPI you set) directly to your device using the Play Store from a web browser on your PC ( https://play.google.com/store?hl=en ). You may need to tap the home button on your tablet to select it/set it as default after it has been installed.
BTW, that CM 9 ZIP you tried to flash should be installed using ClockworkMod (CWM).
It might be worth a try. I hope this helps.
Hi k_t_b, thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately, I am no longer signed in to my account on the tab, and can't seem to sign in either because of the TW launcher problem.

So, when you visit the play store using a web browser on your computer, signed-in to your account, you aren't able to click "INSTALL" and select your device from the list "SEND TO ANOTHER DEVICE..."? Even if you can't tap the home button on your status bar to select an alternate launcher after installing a different launcher, you should be able to select the other launcher upon rebooting your tablet.
But, If I am understanding you correctly, you signed-out of your google account on the tablet (removed your account or turned off syncing) before you changed the DPI? If that's the case, I suppose my suggestion isn't an option.
If you can get ADB working (you have the Android SDK installed and the USB drivers from Samsung KIES) then you might want to try to pull the build.prop file, edit the DPI value and push build.prop back to your tablet.
Are you able to boot into recovery mode? (With your tablet off, Hold the Volume Up and Power buttons at the same time)

Hi again,
Yes you are right, I am no longer signed in. When I found the tab in its current state, I got into recovery mode and selected 'factory rest'. On rebooting, I found out that I was no longer signed in to my google account, nor could I try to sign back in since at every stage the TW Launcher fails.
Also, as of now, the tab is in Download mode (since I was trying to flash the firmware), and it says something on the lines of "Do not switch off target device". So not sure if I should turn off the tab or not.

Don't worry about that. If this was a phone with a removable battery, then you might remove the battery to get it out of download mode. You should be able to power off this tablet without a problem as long as you aren't in the middle of flashing it.
If you can't use ADB successfully while booted normally or in recovery, then I believe your only option will be to flash a stock firmware with Odin, Heimdall or flash CM 9. If you want to go the CM 9 route, then make sure you flash CWM first ( garyd9's CWM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392348 - you can find instructions in his CWM for the 6210 thread and I think you'll need to have a microSD card to perform this operation ) , then install that CM 9 zip (which you attempted to flash using Heimdall) using CWM.
Thanks once again for your reply, I really appreciate the help. :good:
I will try and use the adb route and reply if I have any luck. Just one thing though, will it make a difference if I am using Linux as a virtual machine? (Ubuntu run via Parallels on a Macbook).
Also, while I agree with each of the three modes suggested by you, as of now I am stuck with both Mac and Windows (running Windows Vista) telling me while using Heimdall that it has "failed to detect compatible download-mode device". Odin on the other hand, doesn't show any signs of the port turning yellow.
I have installed KIES on both the machines, so not sure what the issue is. Also tried the usual restarting and changing USB ports procedures.
I think that with the cmw is possible to install unsigned packages. So is just a question of making a package with a corrected build.prop. the structure of a update package is real simple, look the one on the thread about root.
Just an idea.

As of now, my problem is that neither my Mac nor my PC is recognising the P6200 when in "Download" mode. I have installed Kies (on both Windows and Mac), and also the drivers that come with Heimdall (For Windows).
Literally all you have to do is just reflash the Rom in recovery without wiping. Factory reset won't do it. Done it myself a time or 2

I finally flashed the stock rom using Odin. Also, I had to install certain drivers for the USB, details of which I will post later.

Attached is 1 zip files. Since twitch is using split apk we need to use "Split APKs Installer (SAI)" found in the google play store to install the applications. It does not require root.
Versions:
Twitch [2.9.8](AndroidTV) (newest as of 3/7/2020)
Tests:
Tested on Nvidia Sheild TV PIE
Instructions Android TV:
1) Download the ZIP file for Android TV onto your internal SD-Card
2) Install Split APKs Installer (SAI) either from the playstore or attached to this post.
3) Open Split APKs Installer (SAI) and go to settings and enable sign APKs(see screenshot)
4) Go back to Main Screen and hit Install Apk at the bottom
5) Locate ZIP file you copied to your internal SD-Card
6) You will get a notification that you need to allow Split APKs Installer (SAI) to install the file(on android TV after enabling install permissions I need to close and restart from setup 3 as giving permissions froze the app)
7) Run Twitch and sign in
NOTE:
1) Make sure you uninstall any twitch app you have installed
2) While the application stops ads from twitch it may not stop forced ads(Ads that the streamer forces). Example, switch from streamer to streamer you will get a ad from twitch(this should be blocked). Streamer finished a match in overwatch he may force a ad on his viewers(this may not be stopped)
Looking to fix phone to newest version. Some set backs.

I've been running it for a few days now with not a single ad but I'll run some tests to see if I can reproduce. Also just to be clear you got a ad at the start of the stream? And you did uninstall any previous versions before installing?

Removed phone till I can fix it. Limited time atm. I'll update the post when I mod the new phone app.
Thanks
It works well on my shield tv.
I got this message when press start to installation! Beelink GT King
does this support background or mini player? Like can i have it running in a small window while doing other things on my phone?
Application is incompatible with this device
it may mostly work on Shield, but others may not work as good with Android TV
Tried it on my Mecool Km9 running Pie but wouldn't install, Need the 32 bit one. Could you do the same thing to this 32bit app. You can download it from my Google drive https://drive.google.com/open?id=1S_r_Hv2qkQPZjEUnYRKn2gvN1DtsOrpV
Do you think it will work with a Android TV from Philips with pie?
If he would be able to do it?
3.1.0: solidfiles (dot) com/v/2wy7R6WmdQ6yR
