Can and chef or anyone that has a stock rom can extract the new version of swype from the new 2.13 Tmobile update rom? I think a lof of us would like to have it as a cab. The new version has the option to enable or disable vib typing, very good feature to have.

in the meantime you can use this program. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=450256 i have used it for some time and love it! it was my solution to the no vibe in swype.
I've had that before, not as good as the one in the new rom.
would love this

not able to test it, cause i am at work.
..but hope that s.o. could tell me, if it's possible to add other dictionarys to swype, like the German one + Germany keyboard layout.
Best regards
worked!
...okay, thought i just take the time for installing it..and it worked!
ive installed it, without deinstalling my old working swype with german dictionary. the old location of swype was Windows/swype.
installed duttys version on the storage card. after rebooting, ive got the new swype version with vibration and fixed problems, like holding keys and getting alternative inputs.
I tried it, works but has same problem as early version of the previous version. I recommend to not install it, it changes your "model name" file under the windows directory to t-mobile leo and could interfere with certain apps or functions that are specific to your carrier. I think this may cause problems with password sign-in too (may result in a hard reset?). Just wait for a reworked version, like for v3.9. Be cautious if u do.

Just make the installation after a hard reset or a fresh new flash, and you won´t face those issues.
Thanks, let me try it out
Edit: Works fine for me, on NRG rom.

Ok.. Got it to work..
heres what I did..
Install swype.. it will ask for restart..
Select cancel.. A folder called 'Swype' will be installed to windows..
Copy that folder to program files
soft reset your device..
sywpe will be ready to use..
You can delete the folder from program files once soft reset.
Also this can be done either on storage card or internal device..
both folders must be in same memory location
Happy swyping
THIS THREAD IS OUTDATED. DO NOT USE. LOOK FOR OTHER MIUI ROMS AVAILABLE ON DEVELOPMENT FORUM.
As usual I won't hold any responsibility to any damages it may cause to your phone.
Thanks to Endless7 for research on this subject. Great work!
Thanks to dangpzanco and walter79 for support and ideas.
This is a simplified method of installing MIUI into Milestone2 devices. This ROM is based on Defy's WajkIUI 1.8.12 - MULTiLanguage. It's still a experimental port so not everything is working fine. With this package you DON'T need to flash any SBF into your phone.
Requirements:
- Froyo or GB rooted phone.
- CWM Recovery 3.0+. You can get it here.
Installation:
- Download update.zip to your sdcard.
- Boot into CWM Recovery
- Apply update.zip
- Wipe data/cache/dalvik cache/battery stats
- Reboot.
Notes:
- Update-scrip now backs up Swype during installation. If you are just updating your MIUI version you may not get Swype. In this case you must manually copy /system/app/Swype.apk and /system/lib/libSwypeCore.so. I won't include these files in my package as they're copyrighted and I don't have permission to distribute them.
Working:
1. Compass.
2. Sensors.
3. LED.
4. CWM Recovery
5. Device Keyboard
6. Keyboard Backlight
7. CPU Frequencies in Bootmenu
8. USB mounting
Not working:
1. Virtual keyboard half size (but now we have Swype)
2. ALT LOCK key from keyboard ( you can double press ALT instead of ALT LOCK )
3. Media HW play, only support .MP4 hardware decoding
4. Buggy message about moving data to sdcard in every boot.
FOR THE ONES HAVING PROBLEMS WITH GSM RADIO:
1. Search for Milestone2 baseband switcher app. If it doesn't work try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182050
Changelog:
20-08-2011:
- Fixed MIUI Torch/Light sensor/Backlight bugs from 19-08-2011 update.
19-08-2011:
- Fixed camera screen upside down
- Fixed USB mounting
- Added Swype Backup&Restore during installation
18-08-2011:
- Fixed CPU Frequencies on Bootmenu
- Fixed keyboard backlight and light sensor
- New bootanimation
Please, report any problems you found so I and the other may try to fix it.
Thanks

Probably because you didn't flash the fixed sbf correctly. My package is made from the same source as endless7, but I've included all images that needs flashing on the update.zip so you don't need to flash anything with rsd lite.

My MIUI uses baseband files from Brazil 2.2 SBF. You may try Milestone2 baseband switcher app.
No luck for me with the GSM signal. This is pretty strange. Because under system-> mobile network settings, it shows my operator correctly but still there is no signal.
Anything you can suggest??

I have tried that. I get the signal every now and then. But after a while it drops.
I have heard that there are different radios (for GSM) available for CM7. So could it be that I need to use some different radio (if such a thing exists for Defy CM7)??
I mean a friend having similar issues with CM7 on Galaxy S told me.
Hey I solved my problem myself. I replaced all files in etc/motorola/bp_nvm_default/ in the MIUI ROM with the ones from w0ndersp00n's Deblurred GB (since I had no signal issues with it) and changed permissions of all files to rw-r--r--, now it works perfectly. No signal drops.
Got the idea from Defy section. Following post.

Any progress regarding SD card mounting through USB cable??
I have been looking for this kind of Mod for a While...
Using Power button to wake up Phone is sometimes uncomfortable to reach when u have a grip around Phone..
Moreover too much use of Power button can cause Power button issues... or may give up after a long time or may become hard to press with time..or loose its chrome finish...
I know there are applications like Unlock etc that will skip unlock screen but who wold wanna skip that Cool Sense Lock screen?
This Mod will not UNLOCK your Screen.. Just wakes it up... u will still get the Sense Lock screen...
I created the android.policy.jar file extracted from InsertCoin Rom using this method and it successfully worked on InsertCoin (3.2.0) and probably work for other Sense based roms.. or u can make urs
Although ur Power button can still be used for Locking/Waking up screen...You can download Screen Lock widget from Android Market to lock again too...
That will completely spare your Power button.. No More screen shot clicks..
How to Install:
1) Download android.policy.jar of your Rom..and copy to SDcard
2) Make a backup copy of ur original android.poilcy.jar(system/framework) and note its Permissions(just incase the mod doesnt work for u. atleast u have a backup)
3) Using Rootexplorer copy the downloaded android.policy.jar to (system/framework) overwriting Original
4) CHANGE Permissions to...
Owner-Read-Write
Group-Read
Others-Read
5) Normal Reboot.. First boot might take long.. so wait..
You can upload android.policy.jar of ur Rom.. i will modfiy it for u if u cant do it urself...
I dont know how to make a flashable file from it.. So if someone can do it, please upload it, i will attach here..
Hit Thanks if it was Helpful
Download:
1) 2.3.5 Roms (Tested on InsertCoin..Should work for other Roms)
2) 2.3.4 Roms (thanks to CdDroiD)
3) For ICS 4.0.3 (3.24)
If its not working with ur Rom or you are facing troubles: The only way is to make ur own android.policy.jar (for Modders and ROM Cookers)
Here is the TIP:
1. Extract KeyguardViewMediator.smali from android.policy.jar and Open with Notepad.
2. Scroll down and find ".method private isWakeKeyWhenKeyguardShowing(I)Z".
3. Delete 0x18 and 0x19 lines. Save
4. Repack
detailed instructions given here by from where I got this idea from syc7090 here..
guys please make your own android policy.jar of your Rom and upload with your post so that I can post here...
Nice man thats cool!
EDIT: Heres one for 2.3.4 ROMs dude
this's good!
Thanks man .. works great
I was looking for something like that but to do another function
I'm on InsertCoin 3.2.0 and I wanted the volume button to function like a music controller to forward songs .. etc .
I really want this thing but I can't find a way to do it can u help with that ?
Yeah i agree with that... That was the only function i really like from blackberry ...long press forward or backward the song and short press volume if someone can do that will be awesome... But this wake up mod is awesome too.. thanks man..

works on RCMix 3.5
Perfect my phone...and my life
My goodness this is amazing. I was just thinking something like this and it just show up from me!
100% working on Revolution 3.6.1 ROM.
In my case is that with the soft-gel case on, the power button is a bit difficult to push down. In fact, all the physical buttons become a little harder to press. That's actually good for volume buttons so it won't accidentally get touched then activated that easily. Besides, the volume keys are easier to access (with my left hand), this mod just perfect my life!
Thank you so much!
nice work!
Thanks alot jjdoctor!
Now we only need the volume button to work as a Camera shutter!
How to change permissions?... Tnx
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA App

3.)Make a backup copy of ur original android.poilcy.jar(system/framework) and note its Permissions(just incase the mod doesnt work for u. atleast u have a backup)

Firstly, I can't view the Permission of the original file because I get interrupted by a warning message: "android.policy.jar permissions cannot be changed because the file system is read-only". So, I thought I just copy a version of the original file and paste it into my SD card so I have backup. Once I open the original file from the SD Card I can view the permission settings. Which lead me to believe that is not the original file I copied from system/framework. I am hesitant to replace the original file with the modified .jar file not knowing for sure I have a proper backup of the original.
Secondly, if I flash a new ROM or update of a ROM will I lose the Volume Button Wakeup Screen mod and have to go through this process again?
I know this is a little long but bare with me please

ro.config.hwfeature_wakeupkey=0
2.3.4 and 2.3.5 have always done it be default - for me at least. One of my favourite mods as I HATE having the screen wake when I press volume
Hi,
I love the Buoyancy Rom for the Skyrocket, but did not want the wake on volume feature. Easy fix:
themikmik.com/showthread.php?9319-Removing-wake-on-volume-%28any-ROM%29-Other-mod-2ND-post
The file to edit on the Skyrocket is "sec_key.kl". Do NOT remove the entire block of text, just remove the word "wake"
Hope this helps.
OR just flash this!!!!!!

Actually, as the creator of this rom, you probably shouldn't flash that. If I'm not mistaken that file will in fact replace the current framework-res.apk that I heavily modified to be Buoyancy specific. Method in the first post works better

you may need dialer.apk, phone.apk and maybe contact.apk.
after you move them, set the correct permissions.
reboot.
if that doesn't work, may need to boot into cwm and wipe cache and dalvik.
alternate: you can try using titanium back up..remove those apk and then install the other apks from the myfiles

Ok. cool. But when i move them the phone starts to force close like crazy. I move them directly to /system/app/ and replacing the current apps. I didn't move just those apps tho. I also moved phone_Util.apk and PhoneSetupWizard.apk DialerTabActivity.apk and it worked but when someone would call me it wouldn't ring.
So my question is this. Do I just cut/past the ones you just described above to /system/app/ and then fix permissions ignoring FCs to rw-r-r. And reboot. Is that correct?
Thank you for your time. And quick response.

you can also use abd and have no fc issues.
if you are running a rom, you can make those changes to the rom before flashing...either way.

to rw- r-- r-- is how each apk's permission were then I rebooted the phone. The volume is up and the ringtone is set. But when I call my phone from a different phone it does not ring, and at the bottom of the screen will blink Unknown between the green and red answering/ignore button on screen., even though above that. The picture for the contact calling the cell phone shows up and so do the Name as inputted into phone contacts. Explain to me what you are trying to do.
Which ROM are you currently running, kernel, root?, odex or deodex? Voodoo (ext4) or stock partition?
It is likely that if you are running simple root stock, with non-voodoo stock kernel, and adding a deodex apk to the mix, the stock kernel may not be able to use the deodex files. you may need to change kernel, or re-odex the apk you are trying to port. Remember, most apk's on the rooted stock has 2 file components.
You can try using the stock deodex base dman made as a base of work from there.
If you are only interested in the appearance of the rom, use 7zip and extract the png's from the apk you want and just paste it into the odex system files to get the same look.
In essence, I think you are trying to theme the stock rom or cook your own.

I used Odin to flash Option C found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613523
Which is Deodexed / Rooted / With Entropy's Daily Driver Kernel. I don't much about the partition stuff yet. Just started to scratch that surface. But i haven't messed with it. I know I have voodoo lagfix in the RED CWM recovery and it did say something about partition when i flashed the rom I can never understand what the chick says tho. But I have not altered it from the file you can download from that thread above. Except for uninstalling a bunch of stock libs.
I am trying to to get the phone app or the dialer setup i guess you can say from the Aeon Rom 1.4 because I can't figure out how to save the Facebook sharing options. via gallery/share/facebook sharing photos and what not. So I went with the stock rom and flash the Lidroid 14 toggle mod. and removed the logsprovider.apk with the modded one found in the same thread with option c in matter of a fact.
Are you saying though that I can unzip Phone.apk and DialerTabActivity.apk here in my PC and take the png?? and paste them to where exactly? I'm sorry I am trying to learn this stuff and It can be very frustrating at times because I am still super new to putting my own rom together. I just want the AEON rom dialer because it has that convenient message tab next to the call tab in the dialer so I want that and the phone to actually ring when someone calls me too.
Thank you for your patience qkster. I still can't believe that you have replied to my thread yourself. I have followed your posts and threads and advice for a long time. I appreciate all your hard work and what not that make ideas likes this possible. YOU ARE THE MAN!!!! lol.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613523
I just want the AEON rom dialer because it has that convenient message tab next to the call tab in the dialer so I want that and the phone to actually ring when someone calls me too.

you are finding out what I consider theory, execution and practice.
in theory, it should work.
execution may not result as intended
practice makes perfect
Couple of issues:
1. you're running jesse's uclb3 rooted with extras. great. it's in an odin format, not a cwm. unfortunately it's not in cwm flashable zip.
you can create one if you google how to make a cwm flashable rom from stock leak.
if you can follow a complex set of instructions, go can try it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1484578
(Jesse also made this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1711375
essentially the some odin option c you used. (he made that in odin for flash via download mode for borked phones)
his ethereal is essentially the same, meant to flash in RED cwm. except for his themes and sound options similar to sgs3.
the odin option c is essentially stock uclb3)
2. before you do anything, make a back up of your current desired setup with zen tool kit - so you can restore in event of boot loops.
3. have the apk with the icons you want on your pc desktop. use 7 zip. double click into the apk. go to res. go to drawable-hdpi. copies all the png. make a new temp folder on your desktop. call it what you want. paste the copied png into the temp folder and look at in windows, with thumbnail options. you will see the icons you want as it may appear in the rom.
4. pull out the apk of the rom you are running. put it on your desktop. look in it also. using 7zip, pull out the res/drawable-hdpi/ folder onto desktop. if you look in it, you will see the other png that you may no longer want. there are several ways to replace the ones you want but it's easier just to pull all the pngs you want into the drawable-hdpi on the desktop and bring the folder over into the apk or just paste them into the apk's /res/drawable-hdpi/
then flash the modded apk or push it into system
Use this for adb..it's easier to use
http://androidforums.com/esteem-all-things-root/517688-adb-android-commander.html
alternatively:
attached is a cwm-flashable shell...study it with 7zip. look at the updater-script. see what it does.
then put the modded apps into the /app folder and flash.
this can be use to flash framework apk/jar and/or system/app apk
test jesse's ethereal and aeon or any other. mix and match. with zen tool kit restore rom, you want play around and restore it back to where you left off
you can also try just pull the aeon apk into the shell and flash it again
remember too that each dev may have different setup or framework that may not let each apk interact correctly...until you have the right combo of files

Thank you very much qkster. I really appreciate your help on this issue. I will be studying these threads and this Android Commander and getting to learn all I can about it. I have followed your posts for awhile and believe you are a very talented developer. I for one appreciate all of your hard work on the Samsung Infuse 4g and insight and advice that you offer.
I'm not gonna just jump right into it, I like to uderstand it all first. But I will definitely be looking this over and trying to absorb it all.
You have kept me busy for probably the next week with this one. Thank You again kind sir. I will let you know in the next day or so to be more realistic as to my progress and if I encounter any problems. Too Bad You don't have a | +1,000,000 THANKS | Button.

you're welcome.
(btw, i thank you for the compliment but i'm not a dev in the true sense. i can re-using and re-applying what is already out there.)
android commander is a graphic ui for adb..easier to use. you'll see that you can pull/push apks much easier, reboot, etc..
as far as learning ...read as much as your brain can handle and google what info you need...that's how most of us picked up this stuff..gl

I used that program you posted "android commander" and extracted a custom Rom to my PC and then using Android Commander I pushed phone.apk dialertab.apk and camera.apk over to my phone and everything it's working fine. Although I had to change permissions to rxw-rxw-r-x
Instead of rw,r r. But it's all doing fine so far. Phone will ring. Camera takes pictures with the power button and I got my dialer tab wanted. Thank you again man. I appreciate you for real.

Hey qkster,
I have one more question if you don't mind. Where would i find the File that contains the png's for the notification bar/toggles? I would like to change that stuff around as well and see if I can change the colors and toggle images? Just need to know where to find the file containing those png's
look in:
systemui
settings
frameworks-res
there are several areas...
check the main xda android theme sections
make a revert or backup..once you start playing with settings, systemui and framework-res, you might experience boot loops
use the cwm-shell i posted. put the original working files in the correct location..call it revert...put the experimental files in another shell copy, and call whatever..
Hey qkster ever since I moved those files. that i posted in my last post my text messaging has been acting up. Every once in awhile. I finally narrowed it down to the problem being if the text is too long it fails to send the text message is there a way to fix this while at the same time keeping my alterations I have made to the rom?
