Disable Wake on Volume in Bouyancy Rom - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hi,
I love the Buoyancy Rom for the Skyrocket, but did not want the wake on volume feature. Easy fix:
themikmik.com/showthread.php?9319-Removing-wake-on-volume-%28any-ROM%29-Other-mod-2ND-post
The file to edit on the Skyrocket is "sec_key.kl". Do NOT remove the entire block of text, just remove the word "wake"
Hope this helps.

OR just flash this!!!!!!

Actually, as the creator of this rom, you probably shouldn't flash that. If I'm not mistaken that file will in fact replace the current framework-res.apk that I heavily modified to be Buoyancy specific. Method in the first post works better

Q&A
Q: Navigation is not showing up!
A: you must first "get directions" for the option to show up, it is in that pane
A: MAKE SURE YOU ENABLE GPS!!!
Q: Why was facebook removed??
A: it caused to many issues, and the market one works fine.
Q: What is the latest changes??
A: I removed the build.prop file completely in hopes that it will work without it, did for me... you tell me
Q: What took so long?!?!
A: I had H1N1, b|0W me.
Q: Does this work with AOSP?
A: doesn't look like it, at least not so far, I did adjust some build props right from them but never got any feedback to let it out to the masses.
Q: Does this break CM-Updater?
A: No, it shouldn't.
Q: Do i need to reflash this every time?
A: if you want navigation, yes. Every update reverts the build props back to the old ones.
Q: Does this work outside of the USA?
A: Yes. BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT YOU MUST FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS EXACTLY!
1. First navigate between 2 USA addresses (just enter them in to get the navigate option to show up)
2. Make a shortcut on your home screen with the address you want to navigate to.
3. Make sure turn by turn is checked.
4 click it nub.
5. drive to the location
6. brag "o mai android is wai b3tt3r thian UR ip0ne."
7. hope to god it brings you back home, otherwise buy a map.
If your paid apps are not working, either wait until midnight, for caches to clear, or flash from scratch...
IE: recovery - rooted cyano - Cyano update - navi update
(p.s not responsible if you drive over a bridge following the GPS, that's stupidity)
(p.p.s don't brick your shaz and blame me or anyone else for that matter, you blew it)

alright i see the prob i think. as far as build props anyway. the only thing that needs to be changed is this line
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/voles/sholes/sholes:2.0/ESD20/17572:user/ota-rel-keys,release-keys
the rest can stay the same.
this should play nice with other apps, and allow the new facebook as well.
edit: in this line would need to be modded in build.trout.prop for the dream and build.sapphire.prop for the sapphire
also note that you can mod the line in both and leave them in the update. cyan's roms use all 3 build props. but reads from the trout or sapphire depending on which phone it is installed on, since his roms can work on both.
working great on my wifes G1

[MOD][EB13] Kill battery full popup and remove am/pm mods / Bonsai 3.0.1!

Here you go, just ported to EB13, all 3 versions of this mod, flashable via CWM2 or CWM3 but you MUST be on a deodexed EB13 ROM. Will cut off the clock if you use 24hour/military time!
These 3 are NOT for Bonsai 3.0.1 OR SRF 1.0.1
Kill battery full popup only - Download
Remove AM/PM from statusbar clock - Download
Both mods together - Download
For Bonsai 3.0.1 (SRF already has both included)
Remove am/pm from Bonsai 3.0.1 - Download (For Bonsai 3.0.1 ONLY, ROM already has popup surpressed, this mod is retained)
Thank you! I've been waiting for this.
Very, very nice! Thank you!
JD
Much thanks. The battery popup is incredibly annoying. The am/pm didn't bother me until you mentioned a fix for it, so now I want it gone, too. Looks like I'm downloading "Both mods together."
thank you for this. much needed

not at all, truth be told i dont know crap about the actual coding behind it but i've search for how to's and use winmerge frequently to see how others have done it. i actually posted a how to for the am/pm thing for DK28, the steps were exactly the same:

for the popup removal, i used this post, the line numbers are all different but if you search for text you can find what to remove:

Excellent, thanks!
I applied this and now my phone won't boot. It does the thing like when you have a rfs kernel on a ext4 system (I was running ext4).
Time to wipe and reflash
I installed this with zero issues on SuperNova ROM (EXT4/EB13) while using the Gingerbread theme. Flashed and worked flawlessly.
Thank you!

Knowing that this is possible, I decided to give it a try again. This time I entered recovery by way of the normal 3 finger method and it worked just fine. I don't know if the 4 finger method is what killed me, but I don't think I am using it anymore.
(4 finger method - press vol up dn camera and power while phone is on)
updated with Bonsai 3.0.1 compatible zip!
what is deodexed and how do i know if i am? also what deodexes me?
as of right now i am running bonsai 3.0.1 and gingerbread 2.1 but when i flash the no bat pop up and boot it up it just boot loops ...any idea why?

honestly, no offense at all intended, but if you do not know the answer to this question, you need to search and read up more, but it is likely that you are not deodexed unless you are on a custom ROM.

I updated the OP to make it more clear, sorry. the no-battery fully popup mod is not needed on Bonsai since its already included. and you cant use the standard version since the CIQ is now removed. only the bottom zip is for Bonsai 3.0.1. you might have to reflash the ROM if you didnt take a nand backup. hopefully you did.
either that or flash the bonsai 3.0.1 zip which will remove am/pm but should boot.
Yeah I did a nand backup and I reflashed bonsai 3.0.1...the am/pm and the no bat popup is still there

Ok, I added the new classes.dex into services.jar. It's 777,554Kb vs the original 313Kb. Does services.jar need to be re-odexed? This is going to be plugged back into a stock system.

[MOD] Volume Button Wakeup Screen for Sense Roms (GB & ICS)

I have been looking for this kind of Mod for a While...
Using Power button to wake up Phone is sometimes uncomfortable to reach when u have a grip around Phone..
Moreover too much use of Power button can cause Power button issues... or may give up after a long time or may become hard to press with time..or loose its chrome finish...
I know there are applications like Unlock etc that will skip unlock screen but who wold wanna skip that Cool Sense Lock screen?
This Mod will not UNLOCK your Screen.. Just wakes it up... u will still get the Sense Lock screen...
I created the android.policy.jar file extracted from InsertCoin Rom using this method and it successfully worked on InsertCoin (3.2.0) and probably work for other Sense based roms.. or u can make urs
Although ur Power button can still be used for Locking/Waking up screen...You can download Screen Lock widget from Android Market to lock again too...
That will completely spare your Power button.. No More screen shot clicks..
How to Install:
1) Download android.policy.jar of your Rom..and copy to SDcard
2) Make a backup copy of ur original android.poilcy.jar(system/framework) and note its Permissions(just incase the mod doesnt work for u. atleast u have a backup)
3) Using Rootexplorer copy the downloaded android.policy.jar to (system/framework) overwriting Original
4) CHANGE Permissions to...
Owner-Read-Write
Group-Read
Others-Read
5) Normal Reboot.. First boot might take long.. so wait..
You can upload android.policy.jar of ur Rom.. i will modfiy it for u if u cant do it urself...
I dont know how to make a flashable file from it.. So if someone can do it, please upload it, i will attach here..
Hit Thanks if it was Helpful
Download:
1) 2.3.5 Roms (Tested on InsertCoin..Should work for other Roms)
2) 2.3.4 Roms (thanks to CdDroiD)
3) For ICS 4.0.3 (3.24)
If its not working with ur Rom or you are facing troubles: The only way is to make ur own android.policy.jar (for Modders and ROM Cookers)
Here is the TIP:
1. Extract KeyguardViewMediator.smali from android.policy.jar and Open with Notepad.
2. Scroll down and find ".method private isWakeKeyWhenKeyguardShowing(I)Z".
3. Delete 0x18 and 0x19 lines. Save
4. Repack
detailed instructions given here by from where I got this idea from syc7090 here..
guys please make your own android policy.jar of your Rom and upload with your post so that I can post here...
Nice man thats cool!
EDIT: Heres one for 2.3.4 ROMs dude
this's good!
Thanks man .. works great
I was looking for something like that but to do another function
I'm on InsertCoin 3.2.0 and I wanted the volume button to function like a music controller to forward songs .. etc .
I really want this thing but I can't find a way to do it can u help with that ?
Yeah i agree with that... That was the only function i really like from blackberry ...long press forward or backward the song and short press volume if someone can do that will be awesome... But this wake up mod is awesome too.. thanks man..

works on RCMix 3.5
Perfect my phone...and my life
My goodness this is amazing. I was just thinking something like this and it just show up from me!
100% working on Revolution 3.6.1 ROM.
In my case is that with the soft-gel case on, the power button is a bit difficult to push down. In fact, all the physical buttons become a little harder to press. That's actually good for volume buttons so it won't accidentally get touched then activated that easily. Besides, the volume keys are easier to access (with my left hand), this mod just perfect my life!
Thank you so much!
nice work!
Thanks alot jjdoctor!
Now we only need the volume button to work as a Camera shutter!
How to change permissions?... Tnx

Firstly, I can't view the Permission of the original file because I get interrupted by a warning message: "android.policy.jar permissions cannot be changed because the file system is read-only". So, I thought I just copy a version of the original file and paste it into my SD card so I have backup. Once I open the original file from the SD Card I can view the permission settings. Which lead me to believe that is not the original file I copied from system/framework. I am hesitant to replace the original file with the modified .jar file not knowing for sure I have a proper backup of the original.
Secondly, if I flash a new ROM or update of a ROM will I lose the Volume Button Wakeup Screen mod and have to go through this process again?
I know this is a little long but bare with me please
You are aware that by DEFAULT the Sensation wakes using the volume button? I personally DISABLE it in my ROM as it annoys the hell out of me. It's a one line addition to the build.prop

EddyOS...you seem like a Senior member to me... tell me how by Default sensation has volume wake up?
I would like to know your buildprop line... Coz that never worked for me...
I just add this to the build.prop to remove volume wake:
# Disable volume button wake
ro.config.hwfeature_wakeupkey=0
2.3.4 and 2.3.5 have always done it be default - for me at least. One of my favourite mods as I HATE having the screen wake when I press volume

Capacitive sounds

Hi all.
I'm on KingDroid V5 based on latests LRG stock rom.
I would want to change the touch sound of the capacitive buttons. On previous versions was as easy as changing the original file (TW_touch.ogg) for the adecuate one. And I have done it but on this version that only change the screen tap sound but not the capacitive buttons.
Someone knows what file to modify??
Thanks in advance.

TW_Touch.ogg works as expected.
For the capacitive buttons I had to change the S_HW_Touch.ogg on /system/media/audio/ui.

[MAGISK][mido]White Torch Light with Dual Flash for Camera and More

This is my personal MAGISK mod that I use. It's quite versatile as one can change it depending on what one needs. It's just a matter of uncommenting/commenting out the related lines, beginning with 'write /sys/....'
You'll find them in the common folder in services.sh and post-fs-data.sh.
Currently it has been set up to change the yellow torch light in custom ROMs to white while retaining the camera's dual flash.
You do not need to change anything if you just need the above functionality, just download and load the mod in Magisk.
However, if you wish to try out the other tweaks included then you'll need to unzip it, change the wanted values and zip them again to be able to flash it in Magisk; I use ZArchiver.
All these tweaks were cherry picked from the sample.sh script so generously provided by @DarthJabba9 in his thread.
If your looking for more cool tweaks and tweaks for devices without Magisk, you should check out his thread.
Tweaks available in this MOD:
-white flash light and/or torch (depending on what you change)
-limit max CPU scaling frequency (for more battery life)
-set idle GPU to 133 Mhz (for more battery life)
-correct screen retention for Tianma displays
-change the read ahead value for external storage
Read the codes in the services.sh and post-fs-data.sh to find out more.
This has been tested on Oreo but should work for Nougats as well
Enjoy!!

WORD OF CAUTION:
Apart from using the values provided in the scripts by un-commenting them, do not try to change the values or lines on your own if you're not aware of what it does/will do. It can seriously damage your device and anyone including me shall not be held responsible for it.

Thanks man.. ??
Will this work in lineageOS 15.1 (build 2018-06-18) on mido?
Will i have to unpack and repack it if i just want white light from notifications panel or just installing from magisk will be sufficient?
Sorry , I am a noob.

I was trying this for sometime now and it appears that this only works with kernels that have support for KCal control.
However, I might be completely wrong considering that I'm a bigger noob than what you yourself claim to be....
I was trying to take screenshots of screen retention... :silly:

Yeah, remove, zip and then load in Magisk.
However, I'm not sure that it will work coz I guess it has got something to do with the kernel too.
You may try and let me know, would be great!

Hey man, this module does not seem to work in RR unofficial by endless. This rom has XiaomiParts included in it wherein you can adjust the white/yellow led brightness. I only want white led in torch but dual led in camera flash.
Sorry for quoting this. Just needed to get your attention

could you get the output of these three commands from a terminal emulator or adb. You would require root privileges to run them
Code:
cat /sys/class/leds/led:flash_1/max_brightness
cat /sys/class/leds/led:torch_1/max_brightness
cat /sys/class/leds/torch-light1/max_brightness

unpack the mod zip and remove the comment in the below line in service.sh
Code:
#write /sys/devices/soc/qpnp-flash-led-25/leds/led:torch_1/max_brightness 0
to
Code:
write /sys/devices/soc/qpnp-flash-led-25/leds/led:torch_1/max_brightness 0
zip all the files again and load it in Magisk.
Check if that works
So currently I'm running on these settings and this gives me super bright while torch along with dual flash as long as I focus and click.
Can someone out there please guide us on what the appropriate values should be before one of us ends up blowing our leds.
I could only figure out that one of them should be always set to zero for the white torch
Code:
write /sys/devices/soc/qpnp-flash-led-25/leds/led:torch_1/max_brightness 2000
write /sys/class/leds/led:flash_1/max_brightness 1000
write /sys/class/leds/led:torch_1/max_brightness 0
write /sys/class/leds/torch-light1/max_brightness 1000
changed the values again in hopes for moderation
