Hey guys,
I just installed CM7, which is awesome, but I'm wondering how everyone keeps up with the new nightly builds without spending an hour restoring their phone every day. Is there a way to backup everything about your phone - even your settings, shortcuts, widgets, etc. - and then restore those settings after you install a new ROM?
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
U don't need to wipe data between every nightlie, I only do that when going from cm7 to faux Rom or vice versa. Just wipe cache, dalvik cache, install zip, fix permissions , reboot.

You probably wanna flash gapps after the nightly, as well...or you won't have much fun.

+1 to this. You wont lose any of your installed apps or settings this way. If you've edited your build.prop file for Netflix then you'll have to do that after flashing a new nightly. And if you are using a custom kernel then you'll have to re-flash that after each new nightly.
between google backup and titanium i have pretty much everything restored in 10 minutes
what about using ROM manager?
All good ways, but I agree with the not doing a full wipe. But if you want to full wipe before each nightly another quick way to restore your apps is Android Commander, a pc program. Also, you do not have to do this:

Worked perfectly! Thanks to all of you for the tips.

How?
I have to wait for market to download every app (including titanium). I can't figure out how to get titanium running without waiting for it to get downloaded from market in some random order.
Thanks.
Is it possible to flash via odin and cwm and some gremlins still lurk. I ask because i've flashed 3 roms today and each one seem to have the same issue with missing market app and such. I don't know if it's a app i'm using, but it seems wierd. I went from Gingerbread (where it started) back to froyo and flashed 2 froyo roms with the issue
Try RaverX3X's KC1. Unfortunately, I don't have the link, so look for it on this forum. That should clear up all gremlins you have.
Yeah i tried that the last time. Possibly I should do my flashing straight from that with the required stuff to get root?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
im getting the same issue, I've Odin stock kc1 without root then gained root, installed cwm. Then proceeded to install Audiophile Series: Redux. Still has the same issue. I've even odin gb Kg4, KG5, KH1, & KH2. All gave me the same problem. Everything works perfect up until I shutdown my phone and reboot it. Then I get the grey android icon with these apps:
com.amazon.venezla (Amazon Appstore)
com.monotype.android.font.felbridge (felbridge font)
com.quoord.tapatalkxdapre.activity (XDA premium)
com.touchtype.swiftkey (swiftkey)
net.everythingandroid.smspopup (Smspopup)
org.projectvoodoo.controlapp (Voodoo)
& of course my market app does not work either, even when i install the new market it force closes.
I have also not dont ext4 conversion, so that cant be this issue
Anybody know how to fix this problem?
Try flashing the KC1 Cleanup Rom first. That's at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1129933
Then flash KC1 etc.
i figured it out. Thanks!!

What worked for you? I have the same problem -- lost marketplace app and not sure what to do besides reflashing.
Curious that not everyone else is having this problem as I used the "Step by Step on how to flash any Gingerbread rom". Maybe it's occurring when EXT4 is done.
Lol I'm sitting here and reading all the posts and lolling XD.Just reboot onto recovery and go to mounts there normally should be MUUM but when apps are missing there is MMUM (i think i got that right, the unwanted mount should be data ) after you unmount data reboot and voila none of the apps are missing.

EDIT: don't forget about fixing permissions after rebooting

Mounts should always be UMMU. You got it the other way around.
You guys should check out my thread.

If you just want a Froyo cleanup only flash the KC1 ROM, if you want the GB cleanup, follow all the steps in the guide.

From my experience over the past couple weeks and through dsextons posts, I believe the issue is that your phone was still partially ext-4 when you flashed.
After I installed cyanogen mod 7 I no longer have android market to acess, not sure if that should happen. Also I backed everything up with titanium backup but it is no longer on my phone cause i wiped it. Can someone help me through getting back android market and all my old apps?
Likely need to flash gapps ... Google apps, should be a download available where you got ROM
I just downloaded the newest nightly build, idk if i should have downloaded something before if you could help out

Please search before opening a new thread. It is a well known fact that CM roms do not include any Google apps at all. Find the proper zip file for your rom and flash it.
Wiping your data will also not wipe you back ups as they are saved to your sdcard..the only way they would have been deleted is if you manaully deleted them off your sdcard

Come on dude do some research and stop spamming, gapps is literally inn the thread you got the ROM from (assuming you didn't use ROM manager)

Hello guys.
I've got installed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2138707 (cm10 by loSconosciuto) on my i9003L.
I'm suffering FC on Play Store. I've just look for many threads of posible solutions, without luck.
After 've installed the 20130512 version of the cm10 (after several updates without problems at all) the play store is fc all the time. Then i've updated the last version (20130515) of the rom, begging for the problem to be solved. No luck.
I've tried clearing the store data and cache, the google framework cache, without luck. I've search for disabled google related apps, i haven't found anything.
In my searches, I've seen so many cases where one user did a clear installation, just to get the same problem after that.
So, there is some tip or fix to try before doing a fresh install?
You tried to wipe cache and dalvik and reflash gapps again?. May be it helps you.

Yes, in the matter in facts, i've flashed a new rom version, making me reflash the gapps and wipe both cache and dalvik cache.
Try to install another gapps package like (gapps xs) maybe your flashable zip is corrupted or you can extact google play from a nandroidbackup and push it to system manually.

Now, i miss google talk, if i just extract the apk from an uncorrupted gapps zip and install it normally... it'll work?

You can install it in normal way :highfive:
This means the low space prob should be bypassed if these gapps are used

Hey, you did it. I guess I missed this one too. Thank you so much. Tu estas un dev.
Edit: Ok, there is 71mb in (uncompressed) in the cache folder of the zip, so I guess that it will still require some trimming. But comparing it to other gapps packages, I think that this will be fairly easy to do. Again... muchas gracias mi hermano. Tu estas el primo.

Ok, I've successfully installed this with cm10.2. Took out gnow and a few unnecessary libs. Also copied Googletts.apk and libpatts_engine_jni_api.so to /system (fc issue). Rebooted, and it's all still there. Beautiful... just beautiful.

Nice!
It is possible to install them on /data partition instead of /cache.
Just arguing installing int2ext+ script directly on the rom (like i'm used to do) and then install gapps on data will save more space and we can wipe cache!

I believe that would require changing the mount statement and all of the symlinks in the updater script. Then your script would symlink gapps again, from /data/app to sd-ext. Double linking. I prefer the /cache method. It's hard enough to fit all my user apps in /data, even with link2sd, or some script. I noticed that somehow the /cache/dalvik-cache folder is empty. And the only other subfolder of /cache that seems to contain anything is recovery (log, 16kb). I just don't see anything that would need to be wiped.

[Noob][Q] Link2sd and wiping cache?
I would like to flash this /cache gapps.
Just two questions that I am not sure about what can happen:
- Can I use link2sd to link whatever apps to /sd-ext? Will it leave the gapps in /cache in place untouched or in some way link2sd interfere with it?
- Is the /cache partition used the same that will be used for app caching? What happens if I clear cache by mistake? That is, from recovery, or from any app that has "clear cache" option (e.g. link2sd, Titanium Backup etc etc)? Will I have to reinstall gapps, or it's a separate /cache partition?
Awesome idea, the low storage in p500 sucks...
Individual app caches are largely stored in /data/data/, so for clearing browser cache (big one) will have no effect on /cache partition. Link2sd will also not effect gapps (which have usually been installed to /system in the past). It will only link user apps (/data/app/) , or system apps that have been converted to user apps. Yes, wiping /cache from recovery will effectively uninstall gapps. But with this installation I haven't found ANYTHING in /cache that would need to be wiped.

After installing these gapps, the only working buttons are power and home and latinime FC's!( I removed libcomm-jni.so and gtalk libs)
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, I had fc also. But Latinime is not in gapps. It's in the rom. I previously had a problem with one of rashed's gapps packages, which installed an incompatible libjni_latinime.so. But this package doesn't do that. I fixed this by installing a trimmed version as a user app, and it's lib into /system/lib. Buttons? Don't know. But I did take latinime.apk (23mb) out of /system. So possibly it's a space problem.
sent from the p509 that I thought I killed again... no trouble at all
@borchaniz
Well... I was wrong about latinime. It is the gapps. Specifically, the symlinks in the updater script. Two symlinks (libjni_latinime.so and libjni_latinimegoogle.so) are written to /system/lib/ overwriting the former. But these libs do not exist in /cache/gapps/lib/. So either edit updater script, to remove those symlinks, or copy libjni_latinime.so to the zip before flashing. Still don't know about buttons yet.

I got same problem- performed full wipe, then flashed rom (cm10.2 from Rashed's thread: and gapps following instructions in op.
Then got the problem with buttons not functioning and keyboard either fc or not showing at all.
So, I flashed rom again, this time with mini gapps by Rahulsby and everything works fine.
However, I prefer of course to have gapps linked to /cache so I hope we manage to nail what's causing the problem..

Yeah, something that I did during my previous installation allowed my buttons to work correctly. But I haven't had the time yet to go back and research everything that I did. It could be system space, as the gapps does write a little bit to /system. Or it could be another symlinked lib. But we will find the cause. Just need a little time...
