[Q] external sd card problem

hi guy's!
i have a Galaxy Ace GT-S5730i
and i was having some problems with the internal storage
so i saw this thread by jocala

that i can use the external sd card as an internal storage
any how .. it didn't work!
but what happened now is that my phone can't read the sd card at all
and saying things like "no such as directory" or something like that
and i can't download the swapsd.apk again cause it needs an sd card to be downloaded to first!
if only i can download the apk from any where directly to the internal phone storage
i can get the swap back to default again!
any help please?!
and yes i am a noob!

Take out the SD card and put it into an SD card reader and put that into your computer and use a free partition program to basically repartition the entire card or delete and format a new partition.

Strange, formatting the sd card usually fixes these kind of problems :/
Have you tried it a couple times? Formatting does fail on occasions. Also make sure you do a full format, not a quick one

well, the sd card is working probably on the pc with the card reader!
so i guess - just guessing - that the problem is in the device it self!
i formatted the phone it self but it didn't work, and i'm going to go with what you are saying
and i will do a full format

when ever i open "My Files" it says "Your phone does not have SD card inserted" although it is!

take a cloth and clean your SD card area in your phone, also use that canned air stuff and do a quick spray.

SD CARD - Urgent Help needed

I am running CM10 ALPHA 2 and suddenly the phone started showing my external sd card as damaged. I put my externel sd card to another phone. It is working in that phone. So why is it not working in Galaxy sl alpha 2 ??

1.Turn OFF the phone
2.remove the sd card
3.switch on the phone
4.after media scanning completes
5.insert the sd card
now no error will be shown

backup your data on the sd card to your pc and format it and if it still shows the problem then your sd card is dead

i have the same problem but when i formatted it formatted my internal sdcard -.-

No, it is not :silly:
I've tried 2 different sd cards (16 GB and 32 GB), different brands, and they are recognized by every pc I use, the problem is on the phone side. Maybe the mod to swap internal and external SD cards... or some kind of rom bug.

Or you could flash the alpha 3 which has been released....maybe it was a bug specific to alpha 2?

[Q] Micro SD Issue

Hello all,
I am suffering from an weird issue, that I had never aware of...
After found some issues with "Memory card Unexpectedly removed" and "Screenshot couldn't be store in SD card"
I tried to format SD card, but what I found --->I can't Format SD card...
I tried :::::
--> Scanned with Antivirus (Kaspersky) and removed 1 Trojan from 3rd Party apk file..
--> Unmount the Card and Format it via Phone...
--> Formatted via 4EXT recovery
--> attached with PC and Formatted with FAT32..
--------------------------------------------------------------------
CAN'T SUCCEED....
--------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT :: I can't write any data as well
--------------------------------------------------------------------
And by chance, if Format succeeds then after when I insert the SD card again to device or attaching with PC, ALL THE DATA COMES BACK again without any Data Loss

Hi,
Are you sure the sd card is sitting in it's housing properly ?
Does it still click in and out?
Could there be some dust or fluff preventing it from making good contact with the phone?
Is there any way you could get a card reader,and try it directly into the PC
What about trying a different card?

Not an issue with Housing and Phone, I think It's an Issue with Micro SD itself...
I tried it with connecting with PC via Card Reader, but If i Format the card and again read it via Phone, All the Data comes back without any Data loss.....
It's the Problem with SD card only...I know that diff SD card solve this, but as this is my 32gigs, i have to solve it cause I can't afford any other 32 gig SD card...
EDIT:: Any way to Forcefully Format SD card.... ??

No..It's not Locked....
EDIT:: My Memory card have ONLY Read Permission, NOT Write Permission

Here's how I formatted my 64gig. SD card. Pull battery, put battery back in, press power and volume down at same time, when in bootloader choose recovery, press power to go to it. Once in 4ext. Recovery choose format SD card. It will ask are you sure. Hit yes. Let card format. This will work. It worked for me. Remember to back up data if any on SD card because formatting will erase it. I did mine this way because the device wasn't recognising my card in the phone. It worked perfectly. Hope this helps! Best wishes. It worked for me. Hopefully this will also work for you!

Already mentioned that I tried by Formating from 4Ext, but after completion the data will remain as it is.....
The Problem is Data is remaining As It is.....No Write...No Format...Only Read..

Error while formatting via SDFormatter ::
The Memory Card is write-protected.Please release the write protected switch
P.S.:: I had not put any lock and as I have multi-card reader so no any locking system in Card Reader...

Sounds like the SD card is locked some how. Maybe you can return it to the seller for another one? He should return it without issue after you explain to seller what's happening. You have tried just about everything. Perhaps return is an option now? Seller should give you another card free of charge. Wonder why it's locked in the first place?? If I we're you, I'd contact your seller right away. I don't see why he wouldn't replace it. Best of luck to you. Hopefully you can resolve this issue.. best wishes!
Edit.. search on google unlocking micro SD card, or unlocking write protected SD card. It said there is a small sliding lock on the adapter, look carefully on the side. It said to place micro SD into adapter and slide tiny lock in opposite direction. Towards contacts is unlocked towards top is lock. You will see the lock switch if you look carefully on the adapters side. It's a tiny switch. This is suppose to unlock the write protection. Check it out on Google! Hope this helps you out! I know there is a small unlock key provided on card Reader for Locking/Unlocking the Card Write Protection, But I'm not using Single Card Reader, I'm using Multi-card reader (which is capable of reading 4-6 different types of card at the same time) and in this Card Reader there is no any Lock/Unlock switch...
I also tried Format from RECOVERY...Also tried by connecting via data cable and tried to format it from Windows...All the possible tries i had done so far...
As Ganeshp suggested I tried SDFormatter,
But didn't work----> It says can't Format..Write Protection..

[Q] HTC Sensation not recognising SD Card

Hi, my HTC Sensation is not recognisind sd card. It says:
Total space: Unvailable
Available space: Unvailable
Mount SD card and Erase SD card is grayed.
Tried to format sd card, it is fully working, other phone and pc detects it. Also tried other sd card and still no luck. What I should do ?

Try going into recovery and fix permissions, wipe dalcik and cache just to be sure.

Just tried. Still no luck. Tried to mount sd or format it in recovery. It just gives me an error. I'm confused.

Tried to change sd card reader with other sensation card reader, still no luck. Mine sensation card reader works on other sensation. This means that this is software problem i think.

Made S-Off and updated to official ICS. Still no luck. Tried everything what is about sd card in recovery. Tried format, mounth, partrition and etc and everytime it says error. Help anyone ?

If not luk at the back if the card is getting properly attatch might b u hve broken the pin wch holds the card inside titly ... U cnt c the pin its located inside

All cards are working on other sensation. Only on this aren't working. Pins are good, I tried to put sd card reader into other sensation and it is fully working, only on this sensation it is not.

i have encountered this problem before. it happen when you S-off not properly. It take my couple days to figure out that. try to S-off again.

I can't S-Off because Hboot is now 1.27 and to s-off i need phone to recognize sim, I put sd card in phone and run s-off jopnutbear but it says that I need sd card.

Everytime I format the microSD card with my Sensation, that happens to me. Try to format it using a computer.

Try going back to s-on
If that doesn't work, then I would restore the phone to stock and redo the whole process(rooting, s-off, custom ROM...etc)
If nothing works, and your files are absolutely necessary for survival, then I would just transfer your files from your old SD card to another SD card...

hello, i have a 4gb microsd with my android phone
suddenly one day it stopped allowing me write or delete files from sd card, only read operations are done
normal check with windows failed
i tried to format with gparted and diskpart everything failed,
it doesnt have a lock, tried from usb card reader also
what should i do know??
(did a lot of googling tried many formatters none worked)

Try these:
1. Unmount SD card in your device, and mount it again.
2. Connect it to a PC using a card reader, and run CHKDSK.
3. Format the SD Card in a digital camera or a Nokia phone.

ya it works, guess sd card has gone wild
i cant format it even in gparted by connecting using a card reader
