hi guy's!
i have a Galaxy Ace GT-S5730i
and i was having some problems with the internal storage
so i saw this thread by jocala
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1757767
that i can use the external sd card as an internal storage
any how .. it didn't work!
but what happened now is that my phone can't read the sd card at all
and saying things like "no such as directory" or something like that
and i can't download the swapsd.apk again cause it needs an sd card to be downloaded to first!
if only i can download the apk from any where directly to the internal phone storage
i can get the swap back to default again!
any help please?!
and yes i am a noob!
Take out the SD card and put it into an SD card reader and put that into your computer and use a free partition program to basically repartition the entire card or delete and format a new partition.
didn't work

hey, thanks for helping
but it didn't work
did what you asked me to do, but nothing really changed!
thanks again
any other ideas?
Strange, formatting the sd card usually fixes these kind of problems :/
Have you tried it a couple times? Formatting does fail on occasions. Also make sure you do a full format, not a quick one

well, the sd card is working probably on the pc with the card reader!
so i guess - just guessing - that the problem is in the device it self!
i formatted the phone it self but it didn't work, and i'm going to go with what you are saying
and i will do a full format
thanks a lot
didn't work, does the FAT,FAT32 and the rest of those stuff matter?!
+
when ever i open "My Files" it says "Your phone does not have SD card inserted" although it is!
take a cloth and clean your SD card area in your phone, also use that canned air stuff and do a quick spray.

Was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what I can possibly do??
The card came as EXFAT, but most roms only support FAT32.
I formatted the card to FAT32 which was fine .. but after copying a few files the card now refuses to write or delete files. I can still open and view media that's on it but that's about it. I can't even re-format it, it will say the disk can not be formated or write error. The card isn't corrupt though, I copied around 30gbs of video on it when it was in EXFAT partition before. J
I'm using an SD adaptor into my card reader, but yes I have ensured the lock switch is off.
edit - oh also, when you place the card into the phone it'll say that the card is damaged/blank.
Any help would be appreciated
Cheers,

Make sure you format it in the phone
Every time I place the card in, it will say the card is damaged or blank
Then it tries to format it but then goes through the same loop of saying it's damaged/blank

i had experienced the same problem i tried my best using several fomat tools. think almost all the tools in the world....failed and bought a new one.....think its better go for new card
Did you try to format it on Linux? I've experienced some problems with SD cards formated on Windows (assuming that you run Windows )

pretty much - there's nothing you can do. I decided to email Sandisk and here's their response:
I understand that the error that appear after format is “write protected”. First we would like to apologize for the inconvenience.
I understand that you are getting write protection error while accessing the flash drive. The flash drive has detected a potential fault and become “write protected” to prevent data loss. There is no method to fix this. You will need to back-up your data and replace the flash drive.
So you have to RMA it. I'm abit confused because others on XDA have successfully covnerted their 64gb cards to FAT32 without any issues.
Could it be a faulty batch of sd cards?.
On latest CMR. This has never been a problem. Bought a new sd card. Card works perfectly. Went to flash an update and have error saying can't read external sd card. Reformat. Remounted. Still no luck.
It's a 64gb.
Any one have a solution or had a similar problem?
Try TWRP... ****ty solution, but worth a try.
Lol yeah, thanks for the response though.
I would try it, but since I already moved all my files off and on after reformat I feel like I wasted too much time with this already.
I can still flash from internal card, and my external sd card works perfectly otherwise so it really doesn't make a difference.
I guess we can all just make note that a reformat doesn't work in this situation so it can save some people trouble and time.

Must be formated to Fat32 for any recovery to see it. It comes formatted ExtFat.

Nice, thanks!
How can I tell what the card is formatted to? Any reason not to leave it the way it is?

Haha the above scenario is why you likely don't want to leave it as is. No recovery will see your external sd card if it's formatted to exfat. So, you'll have to use your internal storage to flash roms if you don't have it formatted to Fat32.
You can check the format by plugging your external sd card into a computer right clicking the drive and pressing "Format" (don't worry a second window opens) or I think you can also see it by selecting "Properties."

Well, I have a class 6 16 gb samsung micro sd card using with lg p500. Two weeks ago after installing some rom(probably icysnap) after booting it can't recognize the sd card but detects it in cwm. So I know my sd card is alright. so I flashed another rom(rasheed's jb) but still it can't recognize the sd card although detected in cwm just like previous times. After then I tried a lot like formatting it,partitioning it by both CWM & Minitool from FAT32 to FAT-EXT123..every format. But nope..nothing happened. And then next morning it is recognized again. So it takes a few hours to be detected. What the heck is going on? Any solution? Can't I have flexibility to reboot my phone:crying:?
And don't I have any right to use link2sd and download more apps than it fits in internal memory:crying:!
maybe your phone doesn't recognize sd card because of some permisions, try fix permisions from cwm
Format it again in PC.. dont use Quick format method. Size allocation DEFAULT. Dont patition it this time. Try different kernels.
Still if you face the problem.. get another MicroSD card.. buy transcend.

another thing, on playstore is an app named PIMPMYROM, I used it to zipalign and move data to sd but I do not recommend in your case to move data to SD, you can try it , it is free, but beware some things may brick your phone
another thing is to check SD slot with a multimeter to see if all pins have same voltage/amps
and as rr0yy says, try with another SD card, maybe this one isn't too good and is too lazy and moves with the speed of a rabid snail

Well..my $15 Micromax phone instantly detects teh card. I think there is no problem with the card but the reader in the phone. And I tried everything like fixing permission in cwm.
Edit:
-Can't mount internal or external in TWRP 2.2.3 so I can at least re-flash a ROM
-Every time I try to add files from the computer to internal sd card, I get prompted to erase "damaged sd card." If I skip the message, I can't read the files from the phone because they are immediately deleted
-Goddammit now I can't even connect with the USB this is seriously ****ed up. It's not even a brick because I can use all my apps and phone functions as long as they aren't saving data to storage
Running CM10, everything was completely fine until I did my monthly cache and davlik wipe and now my sd card is always "checking for errors." I can't access my external sd card but if I go to twrp recovery, I was able to mount the sd card(and the filenames turned into strange characters) but now that won't work a second time.
I was just about to backup the goddamn thing too.
Re: Wiping cache and davlik buggered up sd card and internal storage
Wiping your caches won't mess up your external sd card. They're not even on it.

It's very strange that those are the only I actions I performed before I started getting sd card problems though.

Bought a new microsd yesterday and I just spent several hours transferring music to it(from the adapter itself and not my phone usb), and now everything on the card was wiped when using it with my phone some how. And I did confirm the files were actually on the card before safely removing. This is completely ridiculous. These problems happening twice in a row to a lexar product that has a "10 year warranty."

I didn't know lexar was even relevant in any market these days. Send it in if its got a warranty or buy a different brand that's not crap.

I'm mostly angry at having to copy large amounts of music back the sd cards. It wouldn't be so bad to get a new sd card again if the write speeds weren't so slow. Shouldn't class 10 get a lot more than 1MB/s?

I've had success with Kingston and PNY Class 10 SD Cards that said even they can become corrupt and fail. I've wiped my phone more times that I can remember and that ad never corrupted my SD card. I always have a back up SD card with everything on it and everything SD card is also backed up on a CD/DVD. Good Luck

What brand is the internal SD card? The same thing is happening to it now. I tried formatting in the phone, windows, even SDformat tool but everything keeps getting erased and the damage message prompts me to format.
Edited OP. ****ing frustrating.

It looks like you should odin back to a stock ics or gb rom and rebuild your system from there.

I did the whole procedure in the above link but I removed my external SD before doing it and now it doesn't give the error anymore, and I can now transfer via USB which is good. At least I can save info to the internal SD too. Once I get a new external SD I'll see if it still happens.
One problem I always had was getting no more than 1MB/s on usb transfering
So i'm using xperia j and i wanted to install some rom
So I used my mom's htc desire x as it gives better speed and I just pulled the card and on her phone it showede that sd card removed unexpectedly and now my card's not working
So here's how it goes I used some software so I got all my data
I am using a card reader so on my pc it shows the card and all the stuff inside it but cannot copy or delete anything
I used chkdsk and diskpart commands not working
I used 3~4 software's to format it not working
On my phone it shows Damaged sd card please format it nothing happens and the error pop's up again
Is there any fix or should I buy a new card?

First, check the card reader, make sure the lock is off (you can find it in the left side of the card reader)
Then, check the gold bar in the back side and make sure there is no dust
If still persist, try to enter and re-enter the card reader to your sd card slot in computer.
If it really really still persist, then you should buy the new one :fingers-crossed:
Hope it helped!

It really doesn't matter if you unmount it first, that shouldn't break the SD Card (personal experience), It's most likely your SD Card is locked whilst locked it's probably also corrupted, Make sure you haven't got the lock on the SD Card reader (The little nob on the side should be alligned with the word 'Lock' this means Lock is off)
