[Q] Supercid - HTC One S

i've been roaming the HTC One S forums a lot lately, and i've been seeing 'supercid'... i've tried researching on numerous websites but can't quite understand what it is? was wondering if anyone could explain what it is exactly and what it does... thanks

each One S has a CID number, This relates to which country / region the device is from. HTC__001 means HTC Generic Unbranded, As it left the factory, Now most carriers change this to make the phone run their branded software and to receive their branded OTA updates.
Example, Mine is VODAP100 - Which means i can only get updates from Vodafone, not HTC, If i change that to HTC__001 i can get updates from HTC and not Vodafone.
If you change it to 11111111 (superCID) then you will bypass the CID check It also allows you to flash ANY RUU from anywhere in the world allowing you to run, for instance, UK software on a US model or any combination for that matter.
So say there is a Firmware upgrade that is released in the US, It includes various bug fixes and is required to upgrade to a higher Android version, But your in Hong Kong and cannot get this update, You can change your CID and be able to flash this firmware (S-OFF maybe needed)

damn man thats as good of an explanation as am gonna find anywhere! thanks man! how do I change my phones CID btw? am on TMOUS ..thanks again

[Q] how can i get my Tmob UK back to s-on?

Hi,
Phone is being exchanged due to dust problem. I had unfortunatley s-offed before problem arose. Still stock ROM though.
There doesn't seem to be a tmobile UK ruu about so i can't follow the guides that are around.
Any ideas?
I really need to sort ASAP as courier is collecting first thing.
Thanks in advance

I don't believe an S-On method has been released yet...

This doesn't help answer your question (as there's no s-on method yet), but I can't help but wonder why you would request an exchange when your device was S-OFFed and you had no clue if it was even possible to revert that?
kinda in the same boat myself
I'm pretty sure your good with ship s-off and stock ROM.
Some people got s-off devices, how would they know if it came like that?
I would flash the RUU for your phone just in case.

I didn't have any t-mobile branding on my TMobile UK phone.

ICS in the UK

Apologies for what i know is another ICS thread but i read that it was being distributed in 30,000 batches based on CID.
now i just installed and checked my CID and it came up with CID_001 however i am yet to receive the update?
Does anyone have any ideas as to when/what CID's are being given the update first?
HTC__Y13 can make it.

CID__001 doesn't exist, HTC__001 does
As to who's getting it, it seems to be going through the Nordic countries at present and will roll out elsewhere in the coming weeks

T-Mob DE HTC one S Z520e

Hello everyone.
I am trying to find a Z520e for a long time but unfortunately all the providers in my country only have the z560e.
I finally found in the market a z520e which is from T-Mobile DE of I am not wrong.
My question is that since the phone is Tmob branded, does this mean that I might have any issues? In my HTC desire I remember that branded phones had to have goldcards etc when flashing. Does this occur to the One S as well or can I flash let's say the viper S Rom without any issues to be concerned?
Am I gonna be able to change the Tmob Rom with the current official HTC WWE update?
Best regards,
T.

I have a T-Mobile one and have no problems flashing and rooting.

Ok, but can you flash the WWE Rom without root or only the tmob version?
I will root for sure, but I want to be sure that in case of warranty I will be able to find the stock ROM.
Also, do you know if Tmob z520e have the new housing that is not prone to chipping? Is there any picture to see the actual differences?
I have been searching for so long for a z520e..
Cheers

You'll need to root first and then change CID in order to be able to flash any other RUU than the official TMO one. EVenif you lock the bootloader again, it'll show 'tampered'.

Thanx again mate..
So if the serial number is bigger than SH/HT24 or 25 it will be the revised version?? Which one did you have from Tmob DE??
Also, do you run custom ROM like Viper S? how much space do you have left after clean install?

[Q] Question on Software update/warranty, etc

I'm new to this site, just registered. Sorry i'm a noob!! So I have had the Blue Tmobile One S since august but sold that one to my friend and bought a black one from a guy and said it's from solavei, So I try it and everything seems legit except It's running Android 4.0.3 and Sense 4.0. So I go to menu>Software updates>check now to see if I can get the OTA they had in September but it says I am currently up to date. I checked my sotfware information and it said my software number was 1.84.1135.17 71ORD. I look online to see if I can some how download it and it told me that if I don't have these two other numbers and had something else then the warranty is void and I can't get updates. So My big question is how can I change my software number? Do I have to like root my phone? Then some how unroot it back to a different stock ROM? I'm open to suggestions and I would really like an answer thanks!!

If you're on 1.84 I would not update via OTA. You probably have a 1.06 or .09 hboot, which will be extremely nice for you.
I would suggest unlocking your bootloader via HTC and installing TrickDroid if you want stock. There arr several guides, including a all in one tool to help you with the process.

You can try typing *#*#CHECKIN#*#* into the dialer and then checking for updates.
Or you can find a T-Mobile US 2.35 RUU and running that. However it will be more difficult to flash ROMs once you have upgraded if you want to do that later on.

I tried that and all it did was say in my notifications "checkin succeeded" and nothing else happend.. so idk about that. I'm not really looking to root my phone, all I really want to do is have my phone run on the latest software and get OTA updates if possible. But if I need to root it, I will. And for the second thing, I'd have to root my phone to run the 2.35 right?

After "checkin succeeded" you should then check for updates in Settings, as I mentioned earlier.
You seem to be running an "ORD" build which is basically like a Beta test for the latest software. RD stands for Research & Development. The latest 2.35 RUU should work without rooting.
However that will upgrade your HBOOT and make it more difficult if you decide to root later on.

Got it for 1200/-
Offtopic - I have to admit that the stock ROM is the best ROM for One-S... Maybe it's just me but that;s what I realized. I've had a hard time getting back to stock and I won't change it again. Cyanogen for example had lots of bugs, poor battery, poor camera, saw aonly 2 GB of internal memory instead of 6, etc... In a few words, HTC did a great job with their ROMs, AND especially with this great phone
