I upgraded my skyrocket to stock ICS 4.0.4 and I am seeing a huge battery drain and when i looked at the bettery usage in the settings I see Mediaserver using 20-25% battery. I play music in my car via bluetooth for 30 mins per day. Also, i have Apex Launcher installed. Do any of you see the same problem after upgrading? Any solutions?
I just noticed this on my Nexus S as well. I was using Treb and Go Launcher EX. Switched back to Apex and battery drains in a few hours, battery stats show mediaserver eating the battery. Disable Apex and problem goes away.
I seem to remember that some guys were having luck with this problem by backing up your ext.SD card to a PC then formatting it. Then you can restore your files.
I had this problem a while back and I ended up restoring to stock using Odin and working back to my custom rom.

Been experiencing a high battery drain past few days on both VirusROM and BAMF 1.6.3. According to CurrentWidget it keeps at 260-270mA most of the time with screen off. On it jumps up to 400-500mA pretty much right away.
The strage thing is that I haven't really changed anything and have seen 40-60mA draw while idle before.
Partial wake usage mainly lists Android System, everything else has really short duration times.
Any idea how I could track down what's using so much power during idle? Have very few apps installed and all that are installed are pretty standard I think.
Here's a list of what I have:
Where's my droid
Appstore (amazon)
ShootMe
Solo Lite
Facebook
Fandango
Go Launcher EX (maybe this? was updated recently)
Calendar (widget for EX) as well as two themes for EX
Google Maps
Gmail
GO SMS Pro and a theme
Foursquare
Screen Off and Lock widget
ROM Manager
CurrentWidget
SoundHound
Ginger keyboard
Shush!
ColorNote
gTabSiMiClock
Ringer Volume
Retro Cam+
SMS Backup
As far as general settings, Wifi and GPS are always on as well as syncfor gmail and FB, but then again they were since day one and I've seen idle draw at 40-60mA always before.
Thanks for the help.
Have you changed your wallpaper recently?
Mine used to be orange with flames, and it used to do the same thing. Since then, I changed it to a space themed wallpaper that's mostly black and dark blue . My current power usage has gone down significantly to idling at 30 unless I use it!! Try that!!
You could also recalibrate your battery if you haven't done that since ROMing, I did that at the same time too, but I don't think that did it.
Darker wallpaper hmm. Well I changed it to something darker though it doesn't make sense that it would drain battery differently while screen is off, but I guess it doesn't have to make sense heh.
I did use all kinds of wallpapers before even live ones and never really seen such high idle use before. Will try to drain battery and recharge as I haven't done that in a while.
Going to try and wipe everything and just install bamf 1.6.3 along with currentWidget and see what happens I guess. And if issue is fixed will slowly add apps one at a time to try and find which one causes the problem. It also possible that TitaniumBackUp is causing the issue as lately I was using it to reinstall all apps instead of going to the market and doing it that way.
make sure you re calibrate your battery after ROMing, if you haven't done that already. That fixed all my idling power consumption (and charging) problems
Try applying airplane mode. That will help you see if your radios are eating battery.
Reinstalled the rom and while I didn't want to install any apps market restored everything I had, but I did not use TitaniumBackup this time and so far everything is fine. Idle is back down to 40s mA.
I guess was some glitch in the backups. Because everything else is the same.
Hi,
A while ago I have deleted my battery stats file and a few days ago I have noticed that looking at the battery usage menu everything is at 0%. So the file never re-created, i guess. How can i fix this? Battery life is not abnormal.
Also, my wifi settings change from "sleep when screen turns off" to "never sleep" without me doing anything. Could this be a widget or app?
I'm running MIUI XJ rom on a HTC Desire.
Thanks.
After getting tired of ghost call issue, I'm back on froyo but now new problem. The fkng phone dies when left untouched for few hours. I caught the problem to "tiwlan_wq" process taking 48% cpu time after being idle for few hours and then it totally drains the battery in matter of minutes. CPU usage showed tiwlan taking 48% constantly and my battery just drained out. It's got to do with wifi since at that time the wifi stopped working and the button was ghosted and i couldnt' connect or go to its setting page and only reboot was teh only option to bring it back on.
WTF LG can't have GB cuz of ghost call and now this froyo is useless as well. Seriously thinking of selling it but hv to wait for new quad core phones to come.
Do Use 360 Launcher 360 Guard or any power saver it happend to me once. The Power Saving App (360 battery guard) was unable to turn off the wifi module by trying to kill the process which made it hog the cpu. i think it happens when a process cant be killed keeps restarting.

I'm using go launcher. I had wifi protector app, wifi lock app both of which i have also uninstalled. Will charge it full overnight and then in morning see if this helped. BTW i'm using acura's v3 froyo rom. I have some batter saving stuff as well as uptime and cpu usage apps installed. Any software which can show the process down to root level since cpu usage doesn't explain what is causing tiwaln to keep at 48%.
Thanks for the reply btw
I recently switched from stock ICS 2.20 to a rooted cm10 and Ive been seeing a big battery drain since. I leave data off, gps off, and brightness at 20%. I think its my wifi usage and the way my apps (facebook, email, weather, ect.) sync. I keep my facebook to sync every 2 hours, emails 1 hour, weather 1 hour. However, everytime i look at my phone i see some wifi action going on, with an arrow pointing up and down (im assuming upload and download).
Is there a way to check what apps are using wifi and the usage %? Similar to the battery usage for cm10 where it shows what apps and sources are using the battery.
-Thanks!
sound like your being effected by the infamous JB AOSP wakelocks...nothing you can do until HTC gives us some JB source, anything before that are bandaids
Seems like I might go back to an ICS rom then. Would that fix the problem?
And i'd still like to know if theres a way to check the wifi usage similar to how we can check the battery usage of each app.
bump! Still have some questions about this =)
hi all,
I've used Nova for few years, but now I have constant battery drain by Nova based on MM Battery report.
As result my smartphone got slow and hot
I'm on current version of Nova 5.5.3 (free) and MM Android
I have just 4 widgets calendar and emails, static wallpaper
What I can check and do to fix this battery drain issue?
thanks
I uninstalled Nova, rebooted the phone
Installed Nova, but without restore
At 1st no battery drain, so I started adding back Widgets - 1weather and g-mail
and I see 2.89% in Battery power monitor again.
I'll remove widget by widget and see if it'll get better
