Android-HIFI:
Apologies in advance if I'm being dense here; but when you said that this app functions as an AirPlay receiver/server, were you saying that this app has the ability to both receive and send audio? In short, does this app have the ability to stream audio to another AirPlay capable device? The reason I'm asking is this: I have sold/discarded/given away ALL of my Apple devices and replaced them with Android and/or other equivalent devices. However, even though I got rid of my Apple devices, I retained a large number of 3rd party manufactured accessories. Among these accessories are a pair of AirPlay speakers that have just been collecting dust since I went 'droid. So, using your app, would it be possible to use one of my Android devices to stream audio to my AirPlay speakers?
Thanks in advance for your time and consideration. Take care and have a good one!
Thank you,
Ed (Mister_Mxyzptlk)

This means I'll be able to install this application on my Ouya.
Nice, my girlfriend will be happy to have it's kind of Apple TV.

Love it worked brill on nexus s with jelly bean was ace no faults with it and being first time ive used air play had made me want use it more maybe

i have got connected however the sound doesn't play through and when it does it comes as jittery blips of sound (kinda like a helicopter blades)
im currently running sense 3.5 android 2.3.5 if that helps at all

I tried it out on my HTC Desire but it was very stuttered and the audio kept cutting in and out. After I paused iTunes, the music continued playing on the phone for a good 10 seconds before the stream stopped. I don't know if it's due to both the stream source (laptop with iTunes) and the phone are both on the same wireless network and it's congested, or if the Desire is simply too old to be able to do real time decoding of the stream. I'll play with it some more but I thought you might want to know. Let me know if you want a logcat or anything.

From what I saw, no. It is a receiver only (it is a server in the sense that the airtunes client, the player, connects to it and streams audio to it. It just waits for connections).

Try checking out Airfoil by Rogue Amoeba. The software runs on Windows, Mac OS, and even a CLI version of linux is available (although that might be just for the speakers). It supports streaming to Airplay enabled devices, including Android HIFI.

Not working on one X
Hi Android-HIFI,
App works like a charm on my xoom. installed it on the one x and it just says starting. It does not say "waiting for connection". My one x is stock.
Any reasons for this.

awesome i can now have the same music play in sync in every room on my next party
one thing though, the music gets out of sync within 5 minuites so you have to readjust.

Working on eVO 4G LTE, getts choppy once and in a while have to re adjust the delay, whats the future plans for it?

Find and connect to your player in less than 10 seconds without having to manually enter its address - even works with players connected over wifi!
Roku ECP - way more reliable than the old Telnet protocol some other remote apps use
Full 12-button control including Back and Instant Replay
List and launch channels directly from your phone
Automatically jump to search screens using your phone's search button*
Enter text on your phone and send it to the player - never use the on-screen letter picker again!

2.0 - Added auto-detect, multi-player support, optimized layouts, and more!
1.1 - Fixed a problem where some screens on the Roku player (like Netflix menus) wouldn't respond to commands.
Updated to 1.1. Now works way better with Netflix.
MAJOR update! Auto-detect, better screen support, and more! If you thought it sucked before, it's worth another look because I sucked out all the suck.
Updated again. Now you can pick channels, search, and enter text directly from your phone!
Updated to 2.2. This adds a few UI tweaks and methods to deal with some unreproducible force closes on startup I'm seeing in around 1% of my users. If you get one, please report it with as much information as possible!
Updated to 2.3. Finally added a custom layout and graphics, so now it's not quite as ugly.
Very cool app.
Would you consider releasing open source so others could port it to Windows Phone, etc.?

Windows Phone is in a totally different language (C# I think) - there's nothing you could really port and the Roku control protocol is documented on their website.
Quite useful, thankss!
what's the difference between the free version and the pro version?
Would it even be possible to get this working with the games?
Love this app, thanks for your hard work. Better than the paid ones imo.

Roku WiFi FC on Toshiba Thrive
Ethan-
Thanks for a great program! I use it all the time, since the remote is persistently lost at my house.
I just fired version version 2.10 (as reported by Titanium Backup) up on my Toshiba Thrive (HC 3.2), which was hardware locked (with a switch) in landscape mode, and got an Force Close each time. Suspecting the rotation to be the issue, I unlocked rotation, and started Roku WiFi in portrait mode. Voila! It worked correctly. (I did a similar test on my Droid Bionic GB 2.3.4 - no problem.) With the app still running, I then unlocked the tablet, rotated the tablet to landscape, locked it, and checked again. Strangely enough, no FC when switching back and forth between another app and Roku Wifi. (Roku WiFi always came up in portrait.) However, if I actually exit the app and restart, FC comes back.
As a separate issue, please note that the auto-find feature doesn't work on my network (on neither the Thrive nor the Bionic). I have 4 Roku units, which Fing sees just fine in network discovery, and identifies by the MAC address. Manually connecting to the Roku units by IP address works perfectly.
If you are interested in suggestions, some way of accommodating multiple Roku units would be handy. At the very least, please consider pre-populating the manual connect IP address dialog with the current address so it's easier to change (rather than having to re-edit it each time).
Let me know if you'd like more debugging information to help find this problem.
Best regards,
-Jim

Great app.. Great functionality.. and best part about it is.. its free !
There seems to be problem with a few HTC Devices like the SV (On the stock ROM) with the wifi tether causing the music to sync like a hit and miss.. cant figure out why..
Alternatives like bluetooth / wifi direct / wlan / nfc maybe great and provide nice alternatives to the wifi tether.
Also functionality like being able to save the share the music on the shared devices may also help the app do better.
All in all an amazing start! All the best! :good:
Good guy Dev, sharing such an awesome app for free
Awesome work dude :highfive:
i found some bugs when i try to use this app :
1. the music on the speaker (joined phone) restart after 2 seconds, and then continued to play
2. pressing the sync button will restart the music, not sync it
3. i can't connect to host when i use wifi tethering, it's working when i connect to my home wifi
4. pressing the stop button when playing music on the joined phone causing the app to force close
btw i'm using lenovo s820 running miui v5 as host, lenovo s5000 running stock rom and galaxy wonder running cm11 as speakers
and congratulation to be featured on portal :good:
Sorry my noobie question but this app needs a internet connection? Looks great.
Looks pretty great! But how does it work exactly, from a developer perspective? Doesn't Wifi have a certain amount of latency that makes it hard to actually start the song on all devices at the same time?

3.0.2011:
Today we’re releasing another update to the MixRadio app. The main changes in this version are bug fixes and stability/performance improvements.
We’ve also updated the app icon.
We’d be grateful if you’d install the new version and let us know what you think of it on UserVoice.
Know Issues:
Artwork for offline mixes can sometimes temporarily disappear.
2.2.1942:
• Audio Quality. You can now listen to mixes in high quality audio. This works for both online and offline mixes. By default, MixRadio will play music in high quality if you’re on a WiFi connection, and fall back to standard quality over mobile data. But you can change this via a new Audio Quality option under Settings.
• Bluetooth. We’ve improved how the app works over Bluetooth connections and also with wired headphones.
• An improved Settings menu.
We’ve also fixed some bugs, including one that many of you reported with notifications. Plus we’ve improved how the app downloads mixes to listen to offline.
We’d be grateful if you’d install the new version and let us know what you think of it on UserVoice.
IMPORTANT. Before installing the new version of MixRadio you must first uninstall the old version.
And after installing the new version you’ll need to sign back in to your account. You’ll also lose any mixes you’d previously created or taken offline. Sorry about that.

I'll look into it and let you know...
Apologies, I'll sort it for the next release which will be in a couple of hours, just finishing off a logo option for the middle.
Steve
No apologies, great work. Thanks for sharing it
Made a bit of progress tonight You can now select mph or kph and choose a logo. All the logo's are in a folder you can add your own to if you wish.
Fixed some errors and improved lots of things (I hope).
Hopefully get something up soon....
Steve
Hi Peeps;

finaly, I,ve searching for long time this app for my car audio. thankyou very much dude, you make great work
I like the app, but I'm finding out that once you set the icons I can't reset them unless I delete the folder through a file explorer. I also can't seem to get rid of the music icon no matter what. I want to say the app is pretty cool and I know its in its infancy maybe I'm not using it correctly. Anyways cool app man I'm going to stay on top of it and review it on my YouTube channel at one point.

Dude nice job
Can you make it control Google play music. Or use media utilities to do so?
cant see the video in germany - because gema
I do follow this project, great work
Dude good concept, but give it the option to control music apps like Spotify or Pandora no only your default music app. Also a little of the music info wouldn't be bad at all. And to make it awesome add Bluetooth OBDII compatible to get the speed right from the car computer instead of relying on the GPS. Sorry I asked for much. Keep up the good work
Installed app and subscribed to thread, this is of interest. I often drive with music playing and a speedometer app running on my phone, so one neat app GUI running for both is nice. Will there be any audio enhancement functionality, or perhaps ability to integrate the audio engine of an app like poweramp, so that the Digital Car app just controls it?
How are y'all doing this, are you connecting to your in-dash via BT, aux cable, or do most folks have a tablet installed in the dash? To me this is the most exciting turn in Androids history. I am so looking forward to more of these types of capabilities. I just don't really see it unless there is a full powered Android head unit. Not sure if a tablet would work so well with 3 amps and 12 speakers, and BT or aux won't cut it since it's another screen that I have to play with while driving unless I am missing something here.
I just want to use it as a combined speedomter and music app whilst driving, but it could progress into a much bigger and better thing later.

Good work Working like a charm on LG G2
Thank you and I wait the next version.
Ok!
Keep up the good work!

[Q] How to display Bluetooth track info?

Other Android phones are able to display track info "Artist, Song" on my car's stereo. The S6 connects but doesn't display any track info, even when using the same apps and mp3s as before. It will accept music controls (skip track, volume).
Anyone know how to go about troubleshooting this? Or is there a secret setting to make sure track data is displayed? I don't know where to start. AFAIK 4.3 added AVRCP support, so in theory 5.0 should have it too.
So far I've cleared all and re-added only the S6 to the car stereo.
Skimmed the bluetooth log in /Android/data
Checked the files in /etc/bluetooth
This is what I was searching for as well. With my Nexus 5 I had no problem displaying music information on my car's head unit, but this one doesn't for whatever reason. Stock Android has this feature so why would Samsung remove it? Blows my mind.
Either Samsung broke it or they are not using AVRCP properly for BT streaming.
I lost it too coming from the M8 and N5 on my Acura TL.
Mine displays music info. Track and artist. Just connected like normal. May be because my head unit is a aftermarket pioneer.

Thanks - what model or unit Pioneer is it? And what app were you using?
I forgot what model head unit it is but I use player pro for music.

Mine is a Pioneer as well and it doesn't work. Radio info works fine.

I think it's an underlying Samsung issue cause if a player fixes it, then it will only work for the music tracks already on the phone.
My Songza streaming info doesn't display anymore since I got the S6 as well.
@boomer8403 if you're game, would you give Player Pro a try to compare? Like @Elisha said I don't *think* it comes down to the app, but I don't actually know. That head unit it supports AVRCP 1.3, which I think is the minimum version that supports sending the track info. Supposedly AVRCP 1.3 was included beginning with Android 4.3.
Does anyone know how to test or check what version AVRCP is actually on the S6?
I've been trying to find apps or even enter the service menu to figure out if it is using ACRCP 1.3/1.5 or another BT protocol like HPF since Friday but so far nothing.
Although I have to say that some head units are also pickier than other.
My 2012 Outlander XLS/GT can display track info from my iPod Tough 4G but it won't on my 2012 Acura TL.
But like I mentioned before, the N5, OPO and M8 all displayed track info for MP3s as well as Songza without issues!
So hopefully Samsung fixes it.
I recall reading somewhere that Samsung broke it with a version of JB but fixed it with a subsequent update later on.
Same problem here connecting the S6 edge to a BMW 5 series. No track info on Google Play, only sometimes with the internal player and no song duration. Further very erratic behavior such as disconnects, no last caller lists etc. Very poor and dangerous when driving. Apparently hardly tested by Samsung. Connecting my HTC M7, M8 and even 120 eur Moto G Works flawless. I am afraid I will have to return my edge because of this.
From Note 4 forums if I understood well, samsung is now using avrcp 1.4 so units with avrcp 1.3 lose the remote controls.
Please can you check if your head units are avrcp 1.3?

The newer AVRCP is supposed to be backwards compatible. That's what's broken. No more backward compatibility. In my case, its not like Acura is gonna release a firmware update for my car just so that the S6 will work so its up to Samsung to fix compatibility!

Can you check in the playstore if there is any app for the car stereo brand?
If not you will have to root your S6 and try some third party music apps that could have their own BT modules, or wait for custom kernels

It's a 1 DIN or 2 DIN size?
It will sound crazy but worst case scenario you can change your head unit with adapter for controls on wheel.
If it's a 2 DIN you can get a 7'' mirror link Pioneer, clarion...you will feel liek having a new car inside.
The thing is that since samsung udated their BT modules to 4.1 it broke AVRCP, HTC M8 works ok but even M9 is now 4.1 and I have no clue if they have the same problems.
It could be an Android + BT 4.1 bug that needs a fix from google
Its the built in ELS system with 8" Navi. Not replacing it over a phone!
My M8 worked fine so does my OPO and my N5.
Its not the BT version itself, cause my iPod touch stopped working after an iOS update.
Its the protocol. Some vehicles are pickier than others. My Mitsubishi with Nav can still display the iPod metadata but the Acura can't anymore.
This issue is present on the LG G3, Nexus 6, Note 4 and S6.
Fortunately, I read it was completely fixed on the Nexus 6 once it was upgraded to 5.1.
Once we get 5.1, it should work fine again.
