We are all excited to use the new G2X but it seems some of us ara having several issues with this phone.
I am creating this poll so we get a real world number on how many people are having issues so we can find out whether this is related to first batch of hardware or mere software issues.
Please pick your issue and vote...thanks.!!
If you have further comments, please post as well.
I've had mine since saturday around 11am eastern, got saturday delivery, one of the lucky few and have not noticed anything wrong with it. No bleed or reboots.
Only thing odd is when powering on the home screen will show about .1 second and then the lock screen but I think that happens on the O2x too..sorry to hear/see others having issues though.
I've tried to find fault with mine and just can't. I put a black wallpaper on it looked hard for the bleed nothing and the rebooting, i just haven't had any!
No issues here either, its working great for me

I think mine is OK so far.
Mine has the issue where it won't unlock because the screen won't turn on
Great so far.. Only had it for 2 hours though.... Voted no issues... Keeping stock launcher only for a few days, just cause its so smooth....
Phones absolutely great, as long as it don't reboot I'm golden... Ill keep posted on any issues... Gps is fantastic vs my vibrant...
I either (hopefully) have a dud phone or there's something whacky software wise on my phone. I have a replacement coming in a few days so I'll see if that one still has the same issue or not.
I mentioned this on another thread, but I'll say it again here....I think you can multiply the "no issues" number by about 10 for 2 reasons:
1. People with no issues don't commonly open up "issues" threads.
2. People are reluctant to fill out a poll saying the have no issues because they realize they may have an issue later.
Heck, theres two people already above me that say they have no issues yet, but haven't entered it on the poll.
Side notes: Really, I would think almost everyone should have the reboot issue. It is a very very known issues that LG has already admitted to and started sending OTA fixes for. Also, "GPS issues" is very relative as it's being compared to however you previous phone or other GPS devices performed. Unless it's really malfunctioning (turning off for no reason or refusing to turn on) I wouldn't call it an "issue".

Anybody with NO issues running LauncherPro or ADW EX or some other launcher except the stock? I'm running out of ideas - now trying stock launcher and not LauncherPro. Have an exchange unit coming so if that one has issues there's a good chance it's software and not hardware - or I have horrible luck!
Got off the phone - replacement phone will be here tomorrow!
I've had the phone for 4 hours and I have had to pull the battery out twice to get it to turn back on, and I've had two instances where it just rebooted lol, Ive barely done anything with it but charge it.

Interesting. Well I'm on stock launcher now so here's hoping that's all it was. Would be too easy though so I doubt it
i have my phone sense yesturday... NEVER rebooted or locked once
i noticed some decent bleeding in the bottom corner AFTER the posts...
i love the phone thats my only problem
i have rooted my phone... and froze alot of the apps that tmobile put on it...
cant wait for some beastly kernel to walk into my path.... till then im gonna give it 4./5 (because of the bleeding)
Ton of bleeding at the top.. T-Mobile rep wouldn't let me exchange it. It was not deemed defective by her standards. I'm pissed. It also has a noticeable red tint.
No issues here so far, im stuck at work so I cant look into it at the moment.

I was about to make the jump back to Gingerbread "I.e. The ROM/Radio of death" and just wanted to know how many people have gotten over the bricking debacle.
I have yet to hear of anyone who has had a bricked device since a day or two after the incident was brought up.
Ya, I'm starting to think this may have had alot to do with just user error. I remember back in the early days of rooting when people used to brick phones because they didn't know what they were doing.
I think I'll wait another week and if I don't hear of anymore "bricks" I may switch back to GB.

I'm one of the ones who's Thunderbolt's bricked. I can tell you that mine had zero to do with user error. I have been rooting since the G1 days (not my phone but I rooted it for a friend) and this is the first phone I have never been able to fix.
My Thunderbolt was running the best it had ever run (not even overclocked) when it bricked.
I was running BAMF 2.0.4-1 put my phone on the charger when outside to mow the lawn and when I came back in, BAM it's booting to the splash screen then rebooting over and over.

Interesting, thats actual enough for me to hold off till a future release. I had a friend who got bricked but had little Android/Rooting knowledge so I kind of blew it off as it must have been user error. Thanks for the heads up, and will now continue waiting for a new release. Damn.
Edit: Did you have any luck getting a replacement from Verizon?

Man, that sucks. I know I've seen you post about the issue, but you seem to be the only one that actually has this issue that has actually posted anything concrete here.
Others that have posted about "bricks" sounded like they just didn't know what they were doing and were actually recoverable.
But like Mike said, enough for me to wait until more evidence is uncovered.
Thanks for the info.

And to add to the above I do all my rooting via adb, I have never used a one click root. I'm also an Official Themer on another forum, so I know my way around Android a little.
I had insurance that made me send it off to try to have it repaired first. I just got a new one yesterday.
I'm waiting on a new Gingerbread radio to come out before going back to Gingerbread even though how much I miss it.
Well right before the news was posted, I noticed some connection issues, it was kind of a weird issue. So I reverted back right after seeing the brick thread....
SCARY!
I was just about to make a thread similar to this. Seems as though the bricking phenomenon has blown over. I just flashed gingeritis beta IX and I'm loving it!

I think that is where the real problem is.
The issue is so random, there is no set explaination at this time to explain why/how it happened.
Since the one person that I know of sounds like a very creditable person based on feedback on these forums, I myself am going to error on the side of caution.
I was running GB with no issues as well, but I would hate to kill my phone, just because I "thought" it was safe to reload GB.
I have been on BAMF since they came onto the TB scene. Less than a week from phone release I rooted and started rom'ing. I loaded the new ginger radio about a day before the first report of the brick came out. I havent had any problems. But I have been keeping my eyes open to see when or what will cause a brick so every two seconds I cheack my phone BUT i can't post in the development forum yet So i gotta wait till ten UGH
i'll wait for our developers to give the thumbs up on going over to GB roms, whats the rush vs the risk? Not a big deal to wait another week or two considering what u could be going thru. BAMF remix 1.7 is running flawlessly for me after I dropped back from GB.
I was using Gingeritis from Beta 3 to Gingeritis IX. Honestly, I haven't had a single random reboot or any problem at all.
However, I did have a data issue. If my phone would change to a 3g signal, it wouldn't bring back 4G. But, once I rebooted the phone one time, the problem was fixed from there on.
I still have Gingeritis IX on my phone, and its great. I'm running Imo's test6 kernel as well.

Honestly the bricking thing threw me off first, then I noticed it takes forever to charge, drains quicker and camera and camcorder sucks on gingerbread. So I'm sticking on froyo Bamf for awhile.
Yeah I'm back on froyo. And to those who are "watching my phone and no signs of bricking", there will be no signs. You'll pull your phone from your pocket and have a bootlooping phone, unfortunately. I'm running CM7 gb, 95% of things work like they should, and since it's a froyo radio, I'm immune to the brick of death.

Hmmm... I was wondering this myself. I'm on GB BAMF 2.05 and only have random reboots when I have my 3rd party battery in. The stock battery doesn't seem to have any issues.
I've only had the phone for less than 24 hours and I'm ready to send it back. Someone help me out please.
My phone keeps shutting down randomly. I rooted, installed CWM (Yes the nvFlash), Installed Evils ROM from the dev section.
The phone shut down right before bed last night and it must have done it sometime through the night because I had to restart it in the morning. Today it turned off a couple of times and my logical thought was that it was the ROM.
I switched over to EaglesBlood 1.0.5 hoping it would be a little more stable. It took a little longer, but it still shut completely off.
Nevermind the battery life I just want it to stay on. I'm no genius, but I'm pretty decent with ADB and terminal if I can fix it. Let me know if I'm overlooking something.

I've read most of the issues. I was hoping there was a way to fix it. I talked to a customer service rep at the Tmo store today. He said there is supposed to be an update released by the end of the month.
I rooted so I never have to worry about releases. Usually Cyanogen and his team are all over this kind of stuff. (Cue G1)
I really wanna know why it's doing it and how to fix it.
You by chance have an app that flashes the home buttons as a notification? When I deleted that, my random shut offs dropped...
Is it shut down? Or is the screen black? I get the occasional black screen... if you hit the power button the screen gets a little brighter... if it's that you can just do a hard reboot, power+volume up

Still not working
Okay I think this will help out. I'm been trying different ROM's for a couple of weeks now in an effort to get this to stop this is what's happening.
1. The phone shuts off completely and you need to pull the battery out to get it to turn on with the power button.
2. The phone turns off during a call or during use and starts up again with the boot animation.
3. Shuts off while charging in the middle of the night or while on the car charger.
What app needs deleted or removed? How do I do it? I'd like to post the solution up for anyone having this same problem.

So, I don't know what happened. I didn't touch a thing on this phone, haven't changed any settings or installed any apps for weeks. However, just now, my phone has decided to start acting up in a bad way.
I'm on Paranoid Android 2.52, and I have been for many months now, with no stability issues of any kind. However, without any warning or cause on my part, something got reset. The first thing I noticed was that all of my settings reset to the default Android settings. I had to go through and change all my settings back to how I want them. Then I discovered that there's nothing I can do to get my lockscreen to work again. I have it enabled, I've tried every variation of lockscreen on this ROM, with delay, without delay, but the lockscreen just won't show.
Then I noticed that my notification bar won't display any notifications. It'll show the time, battery, Wi-Fi and other small logos. But the alarm, timer, text, e-mail, etc. notifications will not show on the bar at all. My phone will vibrate when receiving and e-mail or text, but no notification will appear.
Then I noticed that in SMS Popup, which I use, I can't un-hide the message on the popup. I have the privacy set such that I have to tap the little eye logo to display the message. But now that logo no longer responds. It will change color on press, but will not un-hide the message. All I can do is close the popup with the message unseen.
Then I noticed that my home button doesn't work. Either short- or long-press. Short-press should take me to my home screen, long-press should take me to recent apps. It does neither. My phone will vibrate when I touch the home button, but it does nothing. I've checked my settings, and they are as they should be. The button just won't do anything.
I'm sure there's many, many more issues I'm yet to discover. What on Earth happened to my phone and how do I fix this?

Yeah, I ultimately decided that the only thing I could do is just go back to stock and work my way up to BeanStalk. I enjoyed PA for a while, but all the BeanStalk discussion piqued my interest.
Anyway, I just wish I knew what happened to cause my phone to spontaneously fail so completely. It's seriously of a case of it working before I put it in my pocket, and it being completely ruined when it came out.

Yeah. As soon as I went back to stock, everything was immediately back to normal. But, my past three phones have all lasted anywhere between 21-24 months without any problem, and then suddenly falling apart like the Blues Brothers car and becoming completely unusable overnight, just in time for me to upgrade to new phone with a discount. And, since my contract is up in a couple months, I wouldn't be shocked if my phone's about to have its end-of-term breakdown.
I'd really like to avoid the introductory prices on the S4, though... If I could keep this phone going until about June, I'd love that.

Yeah, I'll admit Scott's solely responsible for keeping my interest in this phone. A year ago, I was still on Froyo and I was getting bored with it and wanting a new phone, but I stumbled across PA somehow and thought I'd give it a shot. Three PA roms and Bean Stalk later, I'm still loving my Infuse.
The problem is that the hardware's just not holding up anymore. I'm having the famous power button issue. I'm going to try to gut my phone and clean the button myself, but beyond that, there's not a lot that can be done about it. I'd really love to dedicate the Infuse to an alarm clock/media player when I get my new phone, so I can still have something to mod. But I just don't know how I'm going to adjust to the sudden lack of customizability when I get the S4 with a stock release of Android.
My Skyrocket started from having a small blue airbursh type dot on the screen and it moved to the whole phone throughout the day, After a while the screen got really dark blue, but was still functional until today, I think the problem came from charging my phone. But I am using the same charger, so I'm not 100% sure why it would suddenly stop working.
It started in the morning and progressively got worse throughout the day after charging it throughout the night, and then last night I charged it again and now the screen just doesn't display anything. I can still use muscle memory to unlock my phone with the pattern, and it will still receive notifications.
Does anyone have any ideas? The only difference between how it was charged yesterday and today is that I'm in South Carolina instead of Kentucky.
Go back to Kentucky! Jk. It could be a hardware issue but I'd rule that out by trying a different rom. You didnt say what rom you're currently on.

I am running CM10.0, the stable version of it. I haven't upgraded because I didn't really find it necessary as I was happy with the way it was. It's a really weird problem though.
It seems to be because of the charger, but I'm still not 100%. Should I just try to recover to the original GB rom through Odin?
Here is a picture of the phone when it was blue. Hopefully it uploaded perfect.

I'd try a different rom to see if out I'd rom related. But I haven't heard of anyone else having this issue. Odin'ing back to gb or a newer os, should tell you if it's hardware or software related.

Okay, it appears to be a hardware problem. Flashed the stock GB tar from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652398 and have absolutely no luck. Odin worked successfully and the phone still seems to be having the same problem.
Has anyone ever heard of or seen this problem before? It's pretty random. I think I have the phone under insurance, where as I will just tell them I lost my phone.. Otherwise looks like I'll be without a phone for a while unless I go out and buy an unlocked one, as I wanted to switch carriers next year when my contract was up!
If youre still under the one year warranty, AT&T should be able to give you a refurbished one. This is the first blue screen issue I've seen or heard of.

It wasn't under warranty, as I've had it for a year and a week almost exactly.. And they want a whopping $200 for it through insurance. I'm not doing that. I'm tired of the Skyrocket and I'm not going to pay $200 to get it through insurance. It isn't on warranty, but it was under insurance. I can tell you this is the last time I insure a phone.
I'm going to be buying a Nexus 4 and re-use my SIM, and if it doesn't work I will just ask AT&T for another SIM card and deactivate my old one.
So, it is pretty much 100% where the phone isn't going to work anymore, and I'm not really sure if a screen replacement will work. So yeah, looks like I am going to go with the Nexus 4 and be happy with it.
I do have a question kind of unrelated, and I'd be happy if someone can point me in the right direction and give me an answer here so I don't have to gunk up the forums with another topic.
Is there anyway to grab my phone's data virtually or through the recovery file? Fortunately I was smart enough to make a backup to my sdcard right when it started turning blue. Is there some way I can get my pictures and some important notes from my phone?
