Saving .apk in CM9 / ICS Roms - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anybody teach me how to save .apk in CM9 / ICS based ROMs? I can find the updated .apks of apps in /cache/download folders of either stock / CM7 ROMs. It can be recovered using Titanium backup, but i like to save the .apk.I grow a habit of that.

you can use a app for make the backup of apps,it will make in sdcard a folder with all or what you choose, .apk you have in phone .
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImF6Lm1lY2lkLmFwcGFkbWluIl0.
this is a app i use when i want to make a .apk of some app already installed on phone to send to someone by bluetooth.

Apps on SD card are in /mnt/asec/ and there you find, in the package-named folder, the app (with the name pkg.apk)
If it is installed on phone memory, it is in /data/app/

[Q] HELP ME! I deleted a system app with Titanium Backup

HELP ME...
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2, running Gingerbread XWKDD, Android 2.3.3, Samsung's Touchwiz 4.0.
Rooted my SGS2 and got Titanium Backup, I uninstalled the clock app because I thought it was a widget and I didn't want to see alot of widget. Anyway, turns out the clock 1.0 is actually a system app by the name of com.sec.android.app.clockpackage
and titanium backup can't reinstall it, when i extract the .apk from the backup file and try manually installing, it doesn't install either, just says application not installed.
I also can't find this on Android market.
ok, so after some digging i found that com.sec.android.app.clockpackage.apk still existed in system/apps but just wasn't running. I also noticed for almost every .apk, there was a .odex. But for my clockpackage, there was no .odex, maybe that's why it's not working?
on that thought, maybe anyone here can copy their .odex files for the 2 clock .apks and send them to me? Just use Root Explorer to see the system/app folder, mount R/W if you need to, then copy the 2 .odex files and then upload them somewhere? Pls?!?
if you want root explorer, holla at me via pm
Hi,
I have the same problem with Contacts.apk (no .odex, Titanium or. RootExplorer can't install), so i can't open the number-pad to make a call.
I have tried to copy the backuped Contacts.apk manualy to /system/app, the rebooted, but it don't hlep.
Solved: I have Installed the VillainROM 1.0 and the app is back.
U tried reflashing your current rom??
Its the most clean solution... Because if you copy and paste from another device i'm sure about the system file its not going to work correctly(cache data from another device...mmm i think it will not work...)

P920 Gingerbread system apps request

Hello. Can someone upload the original system apps from Lg p920 (greece-vodafone but I think region doesn't matter ).
I first deleted the apps and then made a backup LOL
+1.
I need them too.
You can download custom rom. Then extract zip and you have apps in system folder.
I tried that with thaiz ROM, copied games nova, asphalt. They don't work. Do I need odex file or I don't know. What could I mess up with those games.first I tried to move data on the external with GL TO SD, then I tried to move game to /data/app with titanium but it freezed. I wanted to copy Golf2 with root explorer to /data/app to find out if it would work with the external sd files. Now all those games won't work, maybe a problem lies somewhere else.
They just open to a black screen and go back to home.
Maybe they need to be flashed in the recovery, before the system boots to make odex files?
This is my first odexed ROM in Android, so I don't know.
just put the games into app folder and set the right permissions. the next time you start the game it asks you for a wifi connection, cause it has to download more data for the game.

[Q] Adding Titanium Backup to custom rom

I'm running a custom rom (CM7.2-RC3-APOCALYPSE-BAREBONE v12-06-12, by itasoulas, based on CM7.2 RC3 by vo-1 v31-05-12) on my Galaxy Ace (GT-S5830D). I'm about to flash a newer version of the custom rom, but I wanted to add Titanium Backup and S2E to the rom, so that my ext partition is mounted automatically after flashing, and Titanium Backup is already on and ready to restore.
I have the apk files for S2E & Titanium, do I just add them to the system/app folder in the rom zip? Or do I put them in the data/app folder, in which case I'd have to create said folder in the rom zip? Please let me know, as it would let me eliminate a whole 2/3 steps in the flash/restore process (flash->install S2E->reboot to mount ext->install Titanium->restore becomes flash->restore).
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'd post this in the CM7.2-RC3-APOCALYPSE thread, but this is my first post and I'm not allowed to post there yet.
As you can see, I didn't get any response from my post, so I rolled the dice and went for it.
So here's how it works for those who don't know:
To add system apps to a rom, place the apk files in the system/app folder in the zip. If you want the apps installed as user apps, place them in the data/app folder in the zip. Worked like a charm. I flashed, booted, configured S2E (installed w/rom), rebooted, ran Titanium Backup and restored everything.
BTW, I was also able to add the APN info for my carrier into the rom. You can do that by editing the apns-conf file in the system/etc folder in the zip. This is handy because when I flash a custom rom I have no APNs set up, as well as no wireless networks saved, so by doing this I was able to run the initial setup when you first reboot the phone (instead of just skipping it, missing Gapps, and adding my account later).
Hope this helped for anyone who is interested.
Neat. Though I'd likely keep titanium as a user app, I'm definitely going to try this.

There is an app to move apps from users space to system space available on the google play. It is called app-mover. It is simple tool. If you are already using link2sd then there is a menu option for moving the apps.

How to Add Apps to a Phone?

Ok not sure if this is the right place or what but im a go ahead anyway, i was looking at some custom roms and i notice that some roms had the DownloadproviderUI.apk i tried pulling it and putting it on my phone but nothing i keep getting error messages that the file cant be something.(sorry)
the apk was running on the Triumph and i have a Triumph but its on a custom rom im running a Stock and it cam from a CM7 so is it possible to port the apk file to Stock and how if anything?
The stock rom should have a apk handler with it also, are you trying to download apps from browser and install them? If so just go to settings. Then application . Click unknown resources hit ok, best to have a file explorer to find downloads and install

No really like that, I know how to do that im talking about if i wanted to take a app from the CM7 roms apk file then add it to my SD card and download it to my phone (i know ill still have to do what you said also) but when i do it says "problem parsing the package" but it comes from a triumph rom so how doo i get this to work on the stock roms?
Hmm, just needing the DownloadproviderUI.apk from cm7? Extract from zip then try pushing it to system/apps and fix permissions, then reboot . Should work

That Would work but how do i get it to stick to a rom? like if i added it to the System/app folder then flashed the rom? I got the ICS Keyboard to work by adding the LIB files within the app its self to the Rom then flashed and that works but this app isn't the same.
What from are you going to flash? If its a cm7, it'll be there won't have to do that. If you want to add your apps before you flash decompile add recompile zip then flash

There are a few things that are different with the APK's
if its just a plain old third party app APK, then putting it on the sd card and locating and installing with a file explorer of some sort should work fine
If its a system related app that must be in the system with permissions then theres 2 ways, sometimes one way doesnt work
a. simply open the rom's zip and add it to the system/app folder(sometimes after doing this you'll still need to navigate to the folder and hit install usually itll install itself)
b. the trickier one if a. doesnt work, have the apk on the sd, using a file explorer that will allow you to change permissions, change the system folder from read only to read/write move or copy the apk from the sd card to the system/apps folder, Install it, then switch the folder back to read only and reboot
also keep in mind that if your trying to bring an app from CM7 to Stock some probly just wont work, CM7 is gingerbread based while stock is froyo, gingerbread changed how things like texts, data, camera, and hdmi are read by the phone and how they function or where the files are so it may just not work

you cant, if it was a System apk then Sometimes, you can put it into the correct folder inside a custom roms Zip and itll install itself
otherwise you need to download some type of file manager so you can navigate thru the folders, then just clicking the apk should pop-up and install menu

[Q] How to convert user apps containing lib and data file to system app?

How to convert user apps to system apps? Many apps give fc because of some missing files. I would like to move whatsapp and maps to system to get some free internal memory.
How can I add more apps into system while porting a Rom, what all libraries and permissions do I need to take care of?
I already tried /system/mover and similar apps. While manually moving whatsapp I couldn't find library files
Thanks in advance!

You can go and install Link2SD, and skip the part where it asks to create a mount script. Then you can access apps and convert them into system apps. You will need to restart the phone when you convert the app for proper functioning.

WhatsApp can be moved to SD card by making External memory as default memory.
If you don't know ,here's how we do :
-->Install SDK and USB drivers
-->Connect your phone,be sure USB debugging is turned on. Go to Settings -> Applications -> Development and enable USB debugging.
-->Start Command Promt : click Start, type “cmd” and press Enter
-->type cd "<sdk>\platform-tools" ;where <sdk> is the actual path of installed sdk.
-->Type these command in the window:
-->adb shell
-->pm set-install-location 2
-->Done!! You can now move WhatsApp and many other apps which previously you were not able to ..
afaik, there usually aren't any modules for apps...

Other than the apps that you flash as Gapps, all other apps (which you mainly install from play store) are *.apk files which can be found in /data/app. You can make it as a system app, by just moving it into /system/app using any root file manager...
*This doesn't apply while porting a ROM... because, the apps already present in /system/app of a ROM usually have their own libraries... Use the guidance of a good "port"er.
