I love Googles playful nature. And I'm not sure if anyone has posted this yet, but here are some screen shots of the tabs menu in Chrome doing a little back flip quickly revealing the back side of the tab with the Chrome logo stamped in it. It was almost impossible getting the screen shots, because it doesn't do it every time, and when it does it's quick. I accidentally discovered it playing with the motion flick gesture that scrolls the tabs. I flung it forward pretty quick and saw it flip. But it also works by swiping with your finger.

This is Googles redundant Web browser called Chrome. It's much better than the default browser.
Side note: I uploaded all three of those screen shots at the same time, didn't do anything to them to change their size. But the important picture is way huge... I don't know why. Here it is again JIC.
I don't think is really an Easter Egg...but thanks.
An Easter Egg would be more like going to Settings -> About and then tapping on the Android version. Then hold your finger down when the ICS guy comes up.
Is there one in stock Froyo browser?

I don't really see a difference... Isn't an Easter Egg something that has no purpose or function other than to be found by the user in an unconventional manner? Swiping up repeatedly at the end of your tab list is about as unconventional as taping the android version repeatedly. And all that happens is a quick, useless but fun animation showing off some branding. Sounds very similar to seeing a bunch of flying ICS droids or jelly beans. (I know you can play with the jelly beans, that's beside the point.)

Google makes Android. Google makes the full featured Internet browser called Browser. Google makes another full featured Internet browser called Chrome. Redundant. Don't get all technical with the exact details of the real definition of the word. I know Chrome integrates with all your devices and blah blah blah. It was just a joke.
Why does everyone always have to be RIGHT on these stupid forums? Xda is by far my favorite forum to use, but until Trolls and flamers are properly handled, they will forever piss me off.

I apologize as well for using you as my scape goat.
I know making assumptions about someone's inflection through type (is the proper word 'type' phasing out already? Is it all 'text' now?) is about the dumbest thing you can do when trying to carry on a lighthearted conversation.
(the following rant is not directed toward you) I just feel like the internet is a place you have to viciously fight tooth and nail with snide remarks and a rock solid asshole know-it-all attitude to boot just to get one shred of respect. You got thanked for making a joke at my expense, where I have yet to be thanked for taking my time to share a little fun with everyone. If these forums were held in real life, the ridiculously rude comments that follow would stay inside that evil little part of our brain where they came from in the first place. Where they belong. Again, I'm just blowing off steam in general. I apologize, I mean you no disrespect.

as i work with phones all day everyday, i was thinking about the ideas that apple have when it comes to phones etc.
like the taskbar that you can drag down to show things like weather appointments etc i would be good if we could pick out what we want to show on the taskbars like iphone has, ok maybe there is a app out but is it as fluid as apples... maybe maybe not.
another thing is i have found on my hunt is the way companys dont put the widgets etc on market. like kddi and docomo.

Had to cheat and google that one, hp made a touch screen computer in 1983 to.. same time as Apple made thier phone
However:
1960s
Historians consider the first touch screen to be a capacitive touch screen invented by E.A. Johnson at the Royal Radar Establishment, Malvern, UK, around 1965 - 1967. The inventor published a full description of touch screen technology for air traffic control in an article published in 1968.

How to disable ads in the Android notifications menu
How to disable ads in the Android notifications menu
A slowly growing number of Android app developers have chosen to adopt AirPush, an advertising system that places ads in the Android notification window. I won’t get into a long-winded argument about the pros-and-cons of doing this or how tough it is for developers to make money. The bottom line is that users don’t want it and they want a way to get rid of it.
Android users can get rid of AirPush notifications in a few ways. The most obvious is to remove the offending app, something that most people have done. If an app you like begins sending ads to your notification area, simply uninstall it and let the developer know. That’s the most effective way of getting the message across. However, this may present a problem if you install several apps and can’t figure out which is pushing the ads. AirPush Detector searches a device’s installed apps list and points out which apps have the advertising system built-in. From there, the user can easily tap to uninstall.
What about the middle ground? You may despise AirPush but want to continue using the apps that feature it. AirPush Permanent Opt-out is a simple app to place on the phone and not have to worry about further notification ads. The app installs on a device and then prevents any Airpush ad from loading. It’s as easy as those set it and forget it commercials.
Editor’s Note: I’d like to take the time to remind people that AirPush exists because it pays developers more for advertising than they earn from their in-app ads that pay far less and practically no one clicks on purpose. Don’t be afraid to reward developers who release quality apps by purchasing premium or donate versions of worthwhile apps.

I think I'm partial to what Chris Pirillo mentioned about PC vs. Mac - The Truth, but in context to iphone vs. android. Just use what works.
Flaming each other because of what one has vs. what the other one has is silly.

I've been known to use both and all of the above.
I think these kinds of topics belong in the xda general forums and not in the device specific general forum, just because there is nothing here that is specific to sgs4g.
Just an opinion.

No I disagree, I have an iPad 3 on ios6, when apps stop working, they just crash and exit to springboard, they don't tell you that the app isn't responding. My ipad has rebooted in the middle of a game, and yes, my volume was once full and audio wasn't working one time. I had to reboot.
GPS lock problems are notorious for galaxy s 1. It's not android or tmobs fault. Yes I agree that samsung is at times a pain in the butt and all the tmobile employees have gotten their brains removed are controlled by some remote in t-mobiles headquarters.

The S3 have poor built quality, accept it. I own one I know, I had the SII, Note and Nexus as well. There are many complaints in the S3 section too, even with people who gets their screen broken while the phone is in their pocket. There are some design flaws of the phone that have no relation on how the user use the phone. It still takes better pictures than my Vibrant. Wozniak said when he shown photos he taken to his friends, they prefer the S3 photos over the 4S. Both the S3 and iPhone 5 camera are Sony sensor, the difference is in the DSP and how each company are tune them. Regardless no matter how nice iPhone takes pictures, the camera app have nearly zero options making it useless to me.

Tap the generated link so it highlights, then press and hold, and while holding slide your finger to the left or right.
The software I use bases the web activity off of the stock aosp browser. I know many devices have chrome as default, but that is not the same thing. This is why that bug exists. I'm working on it.

Nice app, a few suggest
1. Just have a text box to enter the text and fetch the shortened URL instead of opening the web view
2. Copy it to clipboard

I use a tool that codes it. I will look into it but I'm not sure what I would need to make that happen. Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Can I Google That For You?
I'm ok with someone not liking the app. I don't like every app. But app reviews, and I say this for all apps not just my own, should be more about how well they work, or how well they do what they are intended to do. A lot of reviews I have read of my apps and of others are obviously posted by someone that didn't read. I have a review on an app that said it was not a good game. Well, it isn't a game, so that makes sense. If you have criticism of an app and post that on this forum, at least give some feedback. Otherwise others may get the impression that it doesn't work just because you "don't like it". The same goes with rom development. Don't just post that a rom sucks. That isn't helpful. If you don't like what I do, I'm ok with that. But please don't post something that may misrepresent my work and cause others to no try it. I would do the same for you.
Btw, I own guns, and legally carry, and I have never killed anyone. Nor have any of the growing number of people in my church or the churches nearby that have permit classes regularly. For what that's worth, though this isn't really the place for that.

You are correct. What version of android are you on? I'm using a rooted dinc2 with jb. The reason I ask, I tried the website from my browser and had the same issue. Anyone else having this issue? If so try it from your browser and see what happens? All my app does is open that page. It may be a bug either with the page or possible android not recognizing it as something that can be copied. I can copy from the search bar, just not the link.

This seems to help a lot
Settings
Developer options
Change Windows animation scale to OFF
Change Tranition animation scale to OFF
Change animation duration scale to OFF
Yes it gets rid of all the fancy animations, but until Samsung fix this, its a temporary fix
This is the 1st thing I do on all my Android phones. Helps on EVERY phone, not just the sg4.

Exactly what you'd expect, a quick dissolving effect when you go to the home screen, switch between apps etc.
Ha ha ha lets turn off the animation efects and this will make the phone faster...This make phone more ugly because you torn off visual efects, and nothing about overall procesor and work speed.NOTHING!
Wrong. I prefer the look without the animations and it does in fact make the phone much more responsive which is all good because lag sucks and that fix along with killing the S-voice on the home key makes the phone a whole lot better to live with.
I prefer them off. Much snappier. Thanks.

Hmmm could be a long (infinite) wait if the s3 is anything to go by. I'm getting home screen redraws now too. I really thought having 2 gb ram would have sorted that.

I'm glad this guy figured it out.
What's really interesting is that despite the tons of other threads about disabling transitions in developer options, he someone managed to make his phone 10 times faster than all of those! And it's even quoted in the thread title like the absolutely factual factoid that it is! Win!
Plus, as an added bonus, rather than simply making a duplicate thread with text, that takes only a few seconds to disregard, this is a link to Youtube... Quality all around.

Who knew disabling something can make it faster? Another tip for you then which you may not be aware of. If you want to improve battery life, use it as little as possible. Hope that helps.
It's mind blowing how many people actually complains that the s4 lags!
my s4 is quick and snappy. Stock touchwiz qualcom version.
Even with air gestures and s voice enabled, there is no sign of lag or stutter.
