[Poll] Comparing flagship android devices of each brand - General Questions and Answers

Hi there,
I would like to know how are the best phones popular and which one is the best. That is why I created this poll. If you would like me to add something in the poll, then just let me know, okay?
I am so eager to see the results.
Phones, that currently compete in this poll: Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Google flagship phone), Samsung Galaxy S III (Samsung flagship phone), HTC One X (HTC lagship phone), Motorola Razr Maxxx (Motorola flagship phone), Sony Xperia S (Sony flagship phone)
Note: Actually, Sony Xperia Acro S is better than Sony Xperia S. Anyway, I did not choose it because most people do not know, that this new beast is around. They are both really good, but Acro S is slightly better.
Feel free to post below.

Galaxy Nexus IMO. Especially with new Jelly Bean Although it's duel core and not quad core, it is as smooth as GS3 and also there are tons more ROMs and such. Also I really like the fact that you can easily root by fastboot commands

The Nexus will stay relevant for years to come so it's a better option in development terms.
However, for anything else, I'd say SGS3.

The Atrix HD is more of a Motorola flagship phone, despite a smaller battery it has better internals, and better screen (also shipped with ICS as opposed to being upgraded).
I'm on the xda app so I can't vote, but I think I'm going to vote for the Nexus, pure Google and fast updates.

I like the Nexus for the on time updates, but in all other categories I prefer the Xperia, especially in terms of design.

I am wondering to see how I am the first one to vote Samsung Galaxy S3. Man, it has beaten HTC One X in almost all benchmarks...

The S3. Sure, the Nexus gets first dibs on official OS updates, but ROMs can fix that for pretty much any other device. You can alter the software, not the hardware

The atrix HD is a downgrade from the original atrix if you look at the specs. Razr maxxx is Motorola's flagship device for now.

Gotta be the s3, beats out the one x in every aspect so that's no competition. The razr is a joke, as is any Motorola phone to be honest. Uggghhh, motoblur. The only thing close to the s3 development wise is the nexus which obviously has more, but the s3's specs more than make up for that

Nexus .galaxy s3 looks awesome but samsung wont give software updates after they release g4 or smthing.

Uh...no.
OG Atrix is Tegra 2 1 GHz, Atrix HD is the S4 1.5 GHz (both dual core)
4 inch qHD screen vs 4.5 inch HD screen
And compare it to the RAZR Maxx
Atrix HD at 1.5 GHz S4, RAZR Maxx at 1.2 GHz TI OMAP (both dual core)
Atrix HD has 4.5 inch HD screen and Maxx has 4.3 inch qHD screen.

Yeah yeah, but I am afraid, that Android 4.2 Key Lime Pie will not be officially available on Samsung Galaxy S III. I would have chosen Nexus because its cheaper on Android 4.1 faster and I dont like the look of Touchwiz.
I also hate "Designed for humans. Inspired by nature" Samsung actually lacks creativity. All the galaxy series are similar to iPhone appeareance and Touchwiz is similar to iOS. That is the only thing I hate about Samsung....that they copy everything. But Nexus has neither of it. S III has copied curved body of Nexus, too.

Yeah, but Nexus is faster even though it has got proccessor with lower clock. But this processor was designed to run at 1.5 GHz so it can be overclocked easily without damaging your phone. I hae heard that Xperia has problems with the sensor buttons.
I also do not get why almost all the manufacturers make the "context menu button" when they come with Android 4.0. Its useless....S III could have had 3 buttons and instead of "context menu button" should have added the "recent apps button".

Benchmarks dont mean much. Especially Quadrant, which is really bad. You can score 3000 but you wont be faster than newer and better device, which score 1500. I think that Samsung Exynos Quad core is faster than Tegra 3.

What do you think is the Best Android phone?

Hello all, I'm starting this to get opinions of what people think is the best android phone and the reasons they think it's the best. I'm looking to get a new phone and would like other peoples input on what phone is best, since there are a lot of options available. I know everything is an opinion when it comes to a phone. Just say what you think the biggest pros are and the biggest cons are. Admin, If I started this thread in the wrong place apologize!
I've had 3 android phones, all with t mobile. The G1, nexus one and the samsung galaxy s(vibrant). I still have all of them!
Now in my opinion the nexus one has been the best for installing modified ROM'S, With the least amount of issues and ease of unlocking with all hardware working. The downside is the screen size and the flipping power button keeps breaking!
Now my second option is the samsung galaxy s. I like the dimensions of the phone and the screen size is awesome. But with modified kernels and a crappy GPS antenna you still have GPS issues.
So come one come all, leave your input let's see what phone you think is the best on the market today!

specially the SGS2 HD version
The Galaxy Nexus.
HTC Wildfire S
I was also thinking on the same lines... tho I think people should be careful as to what their suggesting... I don't think this thread is based on "what phone do you own, hence think is the best "... because I'm sure as **** the Wildfire S is by far not even close to the best android... maybe the best cheap android phone... but definately not the best...
If you think a phone is the best... then why do you think so... you need to have a valid reason...
As far as I'm concerned I want to change phones as well... at the moment the S2 seems to be at the top of the hill... I was sure I would get the galaxy nexus but after seeing the utterly disappointing specs... a crappy camera, no expandable memory, and a TI processor rather than a exenos is just a major letdown...
Tho in the upcoming phones seems the Droid Razr is supposed to be a beast and the S2 HD seems to be awesome... but iit looks like will need to wait a while for them... not to.mention the s2 HD will only be released in Korea...??? :s
Its actually quite strange phones are getting bigger and bigger... they just wont seem to fit in pockets soon... I thought a 4 inch screen is perfect... tho 4.2 is really pushing it... but 4.6... I'm not really into wearing clothes twice my size to be able to fit my damn phone in my pocket
What does anyone suggest based on facts... wait for the nexus... or the S2 HD... or just go for the S2...

I've favored HTC phones. I've personally owned the Droid Inc, Inc2, and the moto Droid. I've had my hands on quite a few different ones. I think the Inc Is my favorite . Samsung has good phones, but I like the HTC's better.
XDA App. DInc 2 PoWeReD
Best android phone ever? As an early adopter I'd say the g1, that thing was supported for a looooong time given the average lifespan of android phones, the form factor, while thick, is still one of the coolest to date with android, and I believe you could get it all the way to gingerbread despite being a severely dated device. Next to the HD2 it is my favorite tinkering phone. The best right now, likely the gs2, I don't have much love for the current devices but the hardware on the razr is looking pretty sexy. I have a thing for thin phones. That's why my next device will be a Nokia 800 but that's a story for another thread.
Tl;dr? G1, GS2, razr droid.
For someone like you just get a Galaxy S ii and call it a day.

I think the OP was leaning more towards phones that are available now. Obviously, the way technology and competition works, the best phone will be the one not released yet...
Samsung Galaxy S II
Incredible 2
I know it is only single core phone and doesn't have 4G, but it is a great phone.

Galaxy Nexus easy.... duh.... haha
Please thank me if I helped.
well it depends upon what specs you want to have(and brag about).
IMO, there's no such thing as 'best Android phone' because having the 'best' phone is always subjective.
If you want the highest specs on a phone, you can look at the flagship phones.
If you want to be unique, choose a less well-known brand.
If you want to customise, there's plenty.
If you want to have a good-looking UI, SE arc or ray would do
mine.
lol

Which Dual Core phone Is best?

i m going to buy the dual core phone but guys i dont have any idea that which dual core phone is best
i want gaming modding roms camera form phone so please guid me which one is best except latest release of smasung galaxy nexus and motorola razr
Why would you want the next best? Get the Galaxy Nexus.
If you're just about saving a few quid, and assuming you specifically want an Android handset pick up the galaxy s2... spec and performance is not far short overall, in some ways it's better.
HTC range? Seems to havegood support here.
Samsung Galaxy SII
In terms of specs/potential it is Note..in terms of specs/xda support it is GNexus.
REZOUND!
HTC Rezound is my pick.
Dual Core Qualcom MSM8660 with 1.5 GHz, 1GB of RAM and the best thing about the phone - 720P 4.3 Inch Display!!! better pixel density than even the retina.
i think Mi-One is the best choice atm but he's pretty hard to find...

SGS II
My friend got one recently and I checked it out. SGS II is really good. It is definitely well equipped to handle ICS if you are interested in flashing CM 9, when the good folks come out with it.
I haven't 100% decided which phone I'm going to get yet either (between Nexus Prime, Razr, and Resound), though I'm leaning towards the Nexus Prime just because I know it will be the most open. I'm more than likely going to want Cyanogen on whatever I get. The Razr, though water and bullet proof, will probably be the most locked down out of the three :/
S2 /lock.

I'm having a tough time picking between the new RAZR and the SGS II. I guess I'll have to go play with them both again.
GNexus for sure.
I would go for the Galaxy Nexus for sure. It may not have the most ram or the highest MP camera, but it is a high quality build and scores very well in benchmarks.
We'll have to see when the S2 gets a good working ROM though as ICS is fully optimized for dual cores with hardware acceleration.

The BEST overall Android phone?

Alright, Im just wondering, what is the BEST android phone currently available?

Samsung galaxy s2

SGSII, SGNote and the SGNexus.
SGS2 best combination of:
•Screen Tech (super amoled plus)
•Performance (1.2 ghz dual core exynos)
•Memory (16gb + microSD and 1gb RAM)
•Cameras (great quality 8mp with 1080p video and 2mp FFC)
•Support (Samsungs current flagship and garanteed ICS)
Another vote for the SII. Thin, light and feature packed. ICS will make it the best android phone on the market until the next Gen phones roll off the assembly lines.
International s2

hard pick at the moment, but samsung for sure.
the nexus for its amazing highres screen, but the s2 for its speed.
i guess i'd have to go for speed and the go for the s2.
IMO, a pick between:
SG S2
SG Note
SG Tablet 7.7
all those 3 are the best on the market currently

HTC Amaze IMO
Nexus i would say.
+1 for the samsung galaxy note. Not just because I have one, but because I chose to buy it.
Samsungs probably are the best Android phones. I think maybe LG would be another good one now. But HTC...I just can't stand Sense and that terrible phone app. The only good HTC phones will come with WP7 because MS forces HTC to leave out Sense and use the exclusive WP7 phone app.
If I buy another Android phone, it will likely be a Samsung or LG. If I buy another HTC, it will be a WP7 phone.
Hmmn, if you don't like sense, aosp? Samsung do have nice displays/processors but it all depends on your carrier and preferences, I'm gonna hold out for the first quad-core... Unless you need it yesterday, I would wait, just an opinion...
i would not pick S2 now because of it's lower screen resolution compare to note and nexus
s2 800 x 480
nexus 1280 x 720
note 1280 x 800

[Q] HTC One X or Samsung S3?

Hi all I currently have a HTC Sensation but due an upgrade in 3 days time. I have always had HTC smartphones but all this hype about the samsung galaxy 3 is making my decision to upgrade difficult. I had a play with a HTC One X and it is truly a nice phone and I do like the Sense 4.0 interface. However all the hype for galaxy s3 (based on rumored spec) appears to give the impression that it will be the daddy of all smart phones, but I do currently own a galaxy tab 10.1 and im not amazed by the TouchWizz UI, but more information online suggests a new singing all dancing revamped touch wizz interface.
What I want in a phone is nice smooth lag free interface, a decent quick snapping camera and video recorder, decent contacts feature oh and the obvious features of course.
Do I upgrade to the one x tomorrow? or hang on and wait for at least the announced specifications of the galaxy s3?
You will get different answers depending on which forum you post in.
Gs3 not out yet though, so if you not sure prob best to wait.
Me personally, I like sense and HTC build quality, which is why I have one x

Im getting both anyways
me no like sungsung me feel like a toy me feel a cheap plastic me buy a onex!¡
If you have the will power to wait, then wait for the SIII. I'm pretty sure Samsung will look at the specs of the One X and the new iPhone 5 and then release a better spec'd phone. Just like they redid the Galaxy Tab 10.1 after the iPad 2 was announced.

Sammy knows what HTC's offering well in advance to ensure that the SGS3 willbe better. That the problem with being first to market, its not the best it can be (A9 based cuad core for example instead of A15) so its easy to one-up.
Im predicting a cuad core A15 based Exynos chip with updated Mali GPU and non pentile 720p super amoled plus HD screen...
As much as I love HTC and would rather buy their phones, they cant keep the all-around-best status Samsung has with their SGS series. I mean It has been almost a year and there is no phone that has put the SGS2 to shame yet

Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
The S3 might have negligibly better hardware specs but you can be certain they'll still cheap out on the materials. Apple is proof that specs don't mean everything. The overall package is what matters at the end of the day.
It says volumes about Samsung's phones when their flagship Galaxy S series of phone uses the exact same quality of plastic as the €39 Galaxy Europa.
I suggest getting the OneX now. Atleast you'll have a high end phone right away and currently it is the best available phone (except in the camera dept). You should consider the OneS too, it can best the 4-PLUS-1 chip in the OneX in some benchmarks.
THEN after playing around with your phone for around 2-4 months the SGS3 will be available. Have a look at the specs and anything you might want to look at. If you want it then sell your phone and get an SGS3. If you don't want it then keep your Onex.
*That's what I'd do if I were you but I'd be getting the Xperia S for the Pic and Vid quality Different folks different strokes
I would go for HTC One X with better build quality and display !!!

[Q] High-end phones that aren't massive?

Hey guys, wondering if you can point out any existing phones that are powerful and up-to-date like some of the big ones that have come, but something that doesnt have such a big screen, I'd like a smaller phone. I think I read that the galaxy s mini is underwhelming? Any others?

Well right now I'm on a first-gen galaxy, it has a 4", and dimensions 4.82 x 2.54 x 0.39 in ... I guess I could go up to 4.3 like the nexus 4 (5.27 x 2.70 x 0.36 in) or something, but I don't want to go much bigger than what I've got.

You could try the Motorola RAZRi - it flies along very nicely. The Intel Atom cpu in there is only single core but does run at 2GHz and is hyperthreaded.
If you're in the US then look at the Droid RAZRm. It uses a 1.5GHz dual core Arm based CPU.
They both have a 4.3 inch screen but thanks to the very slim bezel they are suprisingly small.
The Droid Razr M and Razr I have a 4.3" screen and the dimensions are 4.82 x 2.40 x 0.33. The Razr M has a snapdragon S4 and has GSM, but Verizon has it locked. The Razr I is Intel Atom and can use GSM out of the box but is only available overseas IIRC.
Has Motorola build quality improved in the last 5-6 years?
Any other suggestions from anyone?
IMO Motorola builds pretty good hardware, its their poor software and lack of updates that have driven customers away. Hopefully that will change now that Google has taken them over.
If you are a fan of Samsung products you could try the Galaxy S3 Mini which is 4.79 x 2.48 x 0.39. Its specs aren't the best, but it ships with JB. I really wish they would have built this with the same specs as the S3 besides the screen. When are Android OEMs going to figure out not everybody who wants a high end phone wants a huge phone. Just like their is a market for 11 to 14" laptops that have high end hardware, there is a market for <4.5" phones with the latest hardware.
Try the xperia v it has a 4.3 inch screen and has the latest dual core processor, the snapdragon s4. It has nice pixel density of 340 ppi and comes with a removable battery and a sd card. Like moto, their software updates are not good but xperia device have easy to unlock bootloaders.
