[Q]Why there is no ICS leak for att A2? - Motorola Atrix 2

I have started getting feel that att will leave us deserted, normally after a leak it takes a month to roll out official update but there are no signs for our A2. Motorola is one devil and att is mother of that devil. When other A2 are getting one after other leaks, after a months of cheesecake none of us have any luck. Also motorubbish is not showing any signs of giving us a unlocked bootloader. I am really sick of Motorola policy of giving updates. Now att a2 users can't dream of cm9 or Ics.

I so agree. Everyday I'm checking the forums to my disappointment, no leak. And yes I check cheesecake

We just have to be patient. Samsung did the same thing with my Infuse. It just got a gingerbread update in February. If they don't update the A2 by Sept then i will start to worry.

Maybe they switched gears and we're getting jb instead. I say this completely sarcastically so don't flame me.
Motorola lied and I'm still locked mb865

Now Motorola have announced that they will be rolling out ics updates for Indian versions next month it is happening after approximately a month of ics leak.
If att is planning to give us JB, why there are no leaks of that???

They are being quite sarcastic. We will most likely not see JB in any official manner on this phone. We will need to figure out how to unlock the BL and start running CM 10, to get it.

I am just praying that the work of our devs get successful and we find a way to unlock the bootloader.

That would be me, as right now I am the only one working on it behind the scenes. I have not found a proper way to unlock it yet.
I am working on something to brute force attack it, but that is not for this thread.

I think a official bug free CM9 might be out before rogers releases this one.

Last week was fuelled by confusion.... There was an ICS update... But not by rogers & not for the sgh-i727r.... The update was for the i900x galaxy Sll... & was released by Bell & Telus.....
I'm looking forward to this week, with one eye closed, so to speak... The rumours abound ever since Samsung's Press Release... Dollars to Donuts... EVERY rogers "customer" will be feverishly checking Kies, to the extent that many will become legally certifiable by Week's end, should no ICS update be available for download

Believe me guys, when ics drops for Rogers I'll let u know, being a reliable source and all
I'll also make a full system dump flash able via Odin (tar) that u guys can work off until a more pure source can be found
I swear all of us Canadian i727r owners will have maxed out our bandwidth a couple of times before Rogers releases the update
What gives?
I spoke to a Rogers Tech Rep he said the release had nothing to do with Rogers, what gives? Have I been lied to once again?

Thanks for calling Motorola helpline, we will definitely forward your query to the department concerned and let you know, meanwhile this is how you can check for updates from your Motorola Android mobile

Thanks for calling Motorola Helpline, and please let us know if there are any openings in BPOs or callcenters you know, these freaking guys are closing down in India. Thank you.

No OTA update available in my Atrix 2 (running with a custom ROM)
I recently rooted my phone and am using a custom rom (Victory ROM) now.
Now, after hearing that Moto has official ICS update via OTA, I'm trying to check for 'System Updates' in Settings -> About Phone. But no updates there.
Is it like, I have to come back to the stock ROM and get this update?
Thanks.

You have to be on stock..also the latest ota for at n t ensures theres no way back to GB..so i would advice to use the 1st leak and not the latest

I assume you have Indian Atrix 2 (based on your location), if that's the case read this forum which has details as how to install the ICS. (latest file seems the Official ICS release)
devilhunter47 advised is for AT&T phone. Indian phones seems don't have that problem and people can get back GB using fxz it seems (based on what I read there)...
Better you read that thread and go from there...All the best...
Did anybody notice improvement in battery lift after the ics update?
I did find a big improvement. Earlier, with 3G and auto sync ON through out my office time, battery status used to come down to 40-50%. Now, after End of my work day, it is at 80%. Observed this for a few days now.
Also the battery drain overnight has improved. I assume this might have to do with the black and cool blue skin that ics implemented...

This is for everone with Indian or non AT&T Atrix 2

Everyone with an non AT&T Atrix 2 forget about the AT&T ICS leak, don't go and try to flash it because you will be stuck and maybe get hard bricked and out of luck if you have no warranty. If you are on an non AT&T Atrix 2 and try to flash back to AT&T 2.3.5 or 2.3.6 with RSDLite there is a 65% that it will fail if you are not using an AT&T Atrix 2. To prevent hard brick, please be pacient till the official release of ICS for non AT&T Atrix 2, but remember this only applies to non AT&T phones.
You can try the SEARET or MEARET ICS leak, flash only MEARET and SEARET roms if you are trying to flash back to 2.3.6 eventho it is not recommended.
I don't want this to keep happening and specially if you have no warranty like me, you'll be stuck and you will either have to take it to a repair shop or get a new phone, it's not free like the AT&T ones that have warranty and can get a replacement for free.
Think Twice!
I'm a noob, but trying to help the noob from my experience!
We pay for insurance on our phones each month. It's not free. I've had a att account for over 5 years so they owe me a couple of phones as much extra money they have gotten out of me. This is probably my second warranty exchange.

So use that one, not the at&t.

Cant update to OTA ICS

My Atrix 2 (or more accurately, my wife's) is stuck on 2.3.6. When I go to updates in settings, it always says my phone is up to date. Is there a way to force it to upgrade to ICS?

Just flash the sbf files and don't bother with an OTA? Just sayin... If you want it that bad.

I am glad I didn't participate in this soak nor get the update. It's causing a lot of problems.
Honestly I think what we have here is possibly an influx of users coming from devices like the galaxy nexus that were easier to modify. Lots of one click tools. This whole rock my moto thing for rooting 4.2.2 looked intimidating. Glad I was able to keep root with pwnmymoto.
I do think it's kinda funny. I had jelly bean and Google now since August 2012. Everyone of my friends this spring kept trying to show me the new features. I'm like Ahh they're not new! Alas my payback has arrived. My ppl with gs4s are all like kit kat neener neener. Least I can be all like verizon grandfathered unlimited data neener neener!
I wonder if the day will come when sbfs can be released earlier and more available?
How are these people who manually updated and bricked their phones getting replacements? Must be bc of the non rooted folks who bricked just by simply updating. Either way I'm glad it's covered.

If you're attempting to flash the update manually you must do so twice. The first pass will update the bootloader and recovery perhaps a couple other smaller things. Regardless the main update is the second pass through. If you haven't applied the update twice from your SD Memory you can likely repair it yourself. Worst case just run the 4.4 sbf...

Again, you don't have to be rooted to flash the update. I'm not rooted and I flashed it yesterday with no problems at all. Took about 10 minutes beginning to end.
