Flipboard alternatives for Android Tablets - Android Apps and Games

I like flipboard on my Android phone, because in collects and mixes popular news coming from different sources like twitter, facebook, news feeds, ..
It's also very fast and has a decent layout.
But its not available for Android tablets ;-(
I tried Currents, Pulse and Tapto, but all lack the possibility to mix social feeds and news feeds.
Any alternatives?

I tested Feedly. It turns out to be the best alternative up to now.
Do you agree?

It is Flip'board'

Questions regarding WP7

I'm sure these have been asked multiple times but as a devoted 6.5 user who dabbles in android for gaming I am wondering, what are the benefits of WP7 over 6.5? I know its more locked down and blah blah but I didnt ask for the negatives. I don't expect a phone to be perfect in its first rendition, the original android was lame. I am absolutely in love with the UI so I want to know what kind of cool features it has (other than xbox live of course.)
Also I'm currently heavily theming my phone. If anyone has an image of the little arrow in the circle on the WP home page I'd much appreciate if I could get my hands on it. Thanks again guys.
Just want to know if I should get the venue pro or just grab whatever android phone is top o' the line that week.
The greatest benefit, in my opinion, is the consistency in handling and design.
Even the apps are fitting perfectly because of the design guidelines that MS is giving.
WP7 is all about gorgeous design, fluid animations, exact feedback and easy usage.
I mean, I used WM5 up to WM6.5.3 and it was great but WP7 is awesome -it saves me a lot of time of customising, flashing and bugfixing, so I may concentrate on the important things in life and still don't have the feeling to miss anything.
WP7 is the latest operating system that in my opinion can now take on Android and iOS.
It may be locked down but it does have some really good apps for example Netflix. There will be a big update which will add quite a few features and the UI is smooth and looks amazing.
I enjoy:
People hub - great idea. I synced Facebook, LinkedIn and several other sites on Windows Live and boom, it shows up in my people hub. People hub automatically integrates with all smart links to call/email/sms people and post on their facebook/windowslive or linkedin accounts as well as showing their profile pic when they call.
Zune. Hands down pure win. Some minor bugs with crashes in marketplace right now but other than that the best music experience on the go ever. zunepass ftw
xbox live - great interface, great experience and great games. prices are affordable and games seem to be well designed & thought out and perform great!
Netflix = pure win
apps - Growing app market.. of course in the 1.x days so apps are fluid and missing some features but some have pulled off the UI nicely such as IMDB and others. Foursquare needs a little more functionality but has the basics
office 2010 - it just works.. creating documents is sort of "meh" but being able to see working documents and update them is nice
What i hope gets fixed / feature req:
RIght now "share" context menus aren't consistent - some will let me SMS something, others focus on email. Wouldn't mine "Sharing" the album i'm listening to on twitter or facebook at times so on and so forth.
zune stream to xbox like zune hd does - would be nice
ebook/audio book store in zune
more tightly integrated services in the cloud - filtering, lists, ability to sync skydrive with local content more easily - bookmarks, favorites, docs. "sharepoint light" built into windows live maybe?
I dont really think anything will "bring down" android so to speak but iphones on its way out and its about time that theres a new leader of phones of that nature (locked OS.) I will likely be getting wp7 but yeah umm, does anyone have access to that image? I've been hunting for quite some time now.

You can already do this, you just need XBox Live Gold. There is a trial, try it and see. It works.

I wish they wouldn't. Just use Amazon. There's tons of books in the Android Market that do nothing but clutter up search results (search for Microsoft, for example).
Leave books to people who deal with books and deal with Apps and Games, IMO.

There is Windows Live SkyDrive. They just need an App to allow you to browse you SkyDrive folders without using a browser, IMO.
Syncing Skydrive with local content is sketchy. Carriers may not like that at all due to data usage, and some users can go over their data limit if they aren't paying strict attention to that.

There is no reason they couldn't embrace B&N, Borders or Amazon as an ebook marketplace. They could extend it from zune to bing to the desktop.

They should have "wifi" only features - such as sync/mesh support. They already have automagic skydrive upload for images - i wish they would allow that to queue up for when wifi is enabled to save bandwidth
Is that true Zune is RESIZING pictures when synced from PC to the phone?
So if I have like 8mpx photo it gets resized to a smaller size??!

might depend on the size of the photo. Downloaded a pic off of photobucket, it synced to my computer and wasn't compressed or resized at all.

You mean downloaded from the internet?
I was just asking about Zune sync. I mean let's say I have a big photo
I want to put it on my phone through Zune, I've heard it will be resized if it's big.

[APP] Pulse News Reader

wow I just found this app and it is by far the best looking news app besides newsroom. I love the UI!
http://www.appbrain.com/app/pulse-news-reader/com.alphonso.pulse
It's Free too starting today! The ui is awesome!
Wow, this is really nice. I was using FeedSquares before, but I might just leave it for this. Thanks for the heads up
Truly amazing app. Too bad all my local news sites don't seem to include images in the feed, or is that a feature only for the predefined feeds?
Edit: Btw. do I take the wrong feed or why most news sites only have a small text as newsfeed, and not the complete story like the predefined?
Reverse Engineering Pulse
Now that Pulse news reader is now dead or the one that I like and have used for the last 5 years...is it possible to use the original Pulse app without a back end Content Aggregator?
Shame LinkedIn has squashed its development and moving on with something else (COMPLETELY different), but curious if anyone has an ideas for replacing, re-engineering, or otherwise the original Pulse App?
Please note, I've looked at the newer version of Pulse (for me is useless) and other similar apps like Flipboard, but nothing comes close to what Pulse has to offer. May have to develop something on my own or hope and pray for someone with more programming skill.
Thanks for the reply to this old thread and appreciate the feedback!

I was a big fan of Pulse reader and i cant find any similar replacement to this type of rss aggregator, with news in rows and mosaic steam. I dont understand how can anyone destroy a totally practical app, like linkedin did with Pulse. The fact is that after pulse reader (and taptu), there is no app in android store that brings rss in a vertical feed setup with horizontal scrolling and it seems like every other news aggregators got stucked with the Feedly-like layout.
So, one solution for the pulse-lovers like me is to create an app like pulse (and make it even better). As an app designer i would like to collaborate with an experienced dev on a new rss reader, if he's really into it.

News Fragments - Great Google News App

I really like Google News but I hate using their actual app or their mobile website. However, News Fragments is a super cool Android app that uses Google news.
All your news stories are filtered and sorted by google. News Fragments sports a sleek ICS theme and is very easy to use. You can swipe your finger to view various categories and article. It also caches articles for offline use.
It's worth checking out..

favorite sports news app?

Hey, I was just wondering what everyone's favorite sports news app was. For the longest time I always used to like ScoreCenter however some of the more recent updates have made the app really hard to use. Well it is still my go-to app for live score updates, looking at actual sports news is painful with the new layup.
I'm looking for something lightweight that runs efficiently, ideally with lots of video content. What do you guys recommend?

Hi Rodken, the apps which I've mentioned in the article is completely based upon few factors like,
Free to use apps.
The apps are based mainly on India or city-based news, but it can also provide international news.
Language preferences - Most of the users in India prefer to use their own language to read news.
Summarized news - to read the news in summarized format and in case a user wishes to read the complete news then they can go through it by swiping or clicking the headline of the particular news.
Few apps also have the option to read the news like social media reels or stories, where user just need to swipe up move to the next news.
Bloomberg is more focused upon markets and stocks
AP news has only 2 languages Espanol & English, Indians prefer to use their own language or English to read news.
CNN has only two options for news programming, that's US and international news. When you select international news, it shows news from all the countries rather than showing the news only from your desired country or local news.
Kindly download any of the above-mentioned News apps and you can compare it with CNN, Bloomberg, AP news or any other news apps which you want to compare them with. You'll understand the differences.
Cheers
