Ok. I was responding to a thread about my phone and no reboot's. I notice that some else posted they charge there phone with it off. When i first got my phone I charged it with it off the very first time. Has anyone else done this and not had problems or done this and it still bad battery life? I have had mine unplugged since about 5:30 am and at 7:08 at 38 percent in the staus menu.

Unfortunately, as far as I know dual core is supposed to mean better battery management.
So there's that.

Yup, I know that most would say companies only advertise that as a ploy to sell more devices, but theoretically it really should be true.

I agree, especially after reading Chris Soyars' post about the battery driver. Not only does that mean our reading of the battery is directly affected, but it also leads us to believe that other drivers on the G2X could be poorly coded as well.
The battery life is ridiculous
Honestly I"m coming from a Sony Erisson w810i dumb phone due to lost of my Samsung Eternity 6 months ago. And I have to admit that it was worth waiting for this phone back when they announced at CTIA. I was so close to jumping onto the mt4g, but this unbelievable phone totally held me back. After waiting and suffering for 4 months from my dumb phone I finally got my hand not only on my first android phone, but also a dual core phone. Man this phone is blazing fast without any lag, going from apps to apps. Once I got it out of the box, I noticed the battery life was around 30%. After playing with it for about 30 minutes, it completely die out. I charged it while I was doing the factory reset. After the reset, I turned off my phone and left it charged 8 hrs while it's off with the battery charging screen. Waking up at 9:00am, it was 100% completely fully charged. Left the house to school and at 12:30p.m, it was down to 5%. It's been only 3 hours and 30 minutes! Before the battery started to drain I had wifi, syn emil, bluetooth and even brightness on low. Also, I had GSM/WCDMA on Auto, so that wasn't the cause either. My second attempt charging cycle to full battery, well see how it goes. If the battery doesn't last me over 6 hrs, I'm definitely going to return it for another new one. I'm having a bad impression on my first smartphone and I will do anything I can to get it the way it should be. It just unacceptable and ridiculous. Oh by the way, my phone is not yet rooted or done anything with it beside downloaded few apps and games. ^__^
i had this issue last night when I plugged in my phone it showed charging and 38%. woke up this morning 8 hours later and it still showed charging and 38%, I'm thinking what the f, this never happened with my nexus one. so I plugged the phone into another outlet and used a different charger and left it for an hour and it still showed the same thing. It wasn't until I restarted the phone that it showed 100%, but I find that odd. don't have the slightest clue why this happened.

I took my friend to a T-Mobile corporate store to show him the G2x I bought. I bought mine through TMO Loyalty so I had to wait for it to ship.
Anyhow, there was an LG rep there trying to showcase the G2x and G-Slate and I asked him how the battery life is for the G2x. He told me 6 days on standby and about 5-6 hours of continuous talk time.
I'll check to see if he's still there and take a PTO if I need to, to be there with him and call my office and let them put me on hold and see if the phone has enough juice to make it for 5 continuous hours.
Unfortunately tmo decided to add some apps that run by themselves....after I deleted them I havnt had any apps open without me opening them.....I get about 20 hours wth a lot of use. This is the best battery life I have gotten on any android phone

I don't see how to get 20 hours out of that battery! Are you on edge? any live wallpapers? Account syncing?
To make a long story short, my mom and I both got G2x phones on launch day. Two weeks to the day after our purchase, her battery died and refused to boot even while plugged into the wall charger (which I now know can be fixed by simply pulling the battery). I was busy at work and couldn't help her, and since it was the last day to return the phone within the 14 day period, I just told her to go ahead and return the phone for a replacement.
Prior to her replacement, we had pretty similar battery lives. I used mine more during the day, but she kept Bluetooth and other services running because she was used to an EDGE-only iPhone 3G where she never had to turn Bluetooth off. Our phones lasted between 10 and 12 hours depending on usage. Not great, but not terrible either.
Since she swapped hers out, her battery life is insane. I've attached a screenshot that shows 70% battery life after almost 24 hours. She had Bluetooth running 24/7 (notice it has the exact same usage percentage as Cell Standby) and WiFi running for a good portion of the time (though WiFi slept while screen was off). She had 4G running the whole time. While I know people might balk at the bad LG battery drivers, after 48 hours, she still had 17% battery life left. I apologize for not taking a screenshot--I didn't think about it until later that day. Though if anyone wants me to, I'll take one the next time her phone gets that far along.
I should mention that this is with no optimization at all. She did fully discharge the battery the first time she used it and charged it completely afterward, but that's it. The phone was unrooted and running stock everything with no special tweaks.
I'm very much considering going back to T-Mobile and seeing if they will swap it out. While mine doesn't seem to have the bleeding or other issues that other people have described, if I can trade mine out for a replacement that will quadruple my battery life, why not?
Wow that's amazing. I personally feel the G2x has excellent battery life. It has been way better than other Android phones I've had in the past (except for the original myTouch, I would get like 3 days out of that thing).
I wonder if the crazy battery life from your mom's phone is from the phone itself or the battery. I doubt T-Mobile will switch out your phone passed the exchange period (I'm a Tmo employee) but if they have any return G2x phones in stock, they should be cool to switch the battery out with you. I'm interested to see if it is indeed the phone or the battery.

That's a good suggestion. I'll experiment by swapping batteries with her to determine if it's her phone or her battery. I am inclined to think it's something different with the phone, but we'll see!
this would REALLY suck if it's true... because I got mine at Radioshack.. and I really loathe going to that store... ugh.
I also have amazing battery life. I can go 12 hours at work and still have 80% left. Got mine from the store on launch day.
((LG Tegra G2x)) @FiberOpticRLD
Could you please post the manufactured date (back of the G2x Box) for the second phone? Saw some posts which said phones on or after 4/29 are really good without any of the previous issues.
Curious to see what the verdicts are. If we can get that kind battery life out of our phones, that'd be incredible!

Yesterday I pulled my phone off the charger at 8AM. Went all day. I leave Wifi and Bluetooth on. Made about an hour of phone calls. Occasional checking of a website here or there. Did not charge phone at night. when I went to bed around midnight it was at 25% or so. Did not put it on charger. This morning it was at about 20%.
Not to rain on your parade. But from your screenshot, it shows no voice calls at all and little to no display use. 24 hrs on a charge without every really using the phone isn't really an accomplishment. Now if she can get 24 hours on a charge and have actually used the phone at least moderately then that would be different. I'd like to see how long her battery lasts with actual use of the phone. That would be a more true indicator of the battery life.
I was going to state that... based on that... her screen was only on for a total of 30 minutes out of 1440 minutes... not a major accomplishment. These phones are meant to be used not just carried around like a flip phone from 2001.

Exactly! She could have pretty much accomplished the same thing by just leaving the phone turned off or just leaving it at home. Some of us would like to actually use our phones, not just have them around for decoration lol. Now if someone gets 24 hours on a single charge with actual use, then I'd love to see that thread as that would be useful information.

Now that Current Widget works on the Sensation It would be interesting to see what everyone else is getting on idle.
Im running standard rom Vodafone UK Branded and it doesnt seam to dip below 200mA on average, the lowest was 89ma for a few secs then shot back up. I have had it running and logging over night.

I wonder if SetCPU really works with the Sensation, having 250ma when idle would kill the battery way too fast!
I'm not sure if I have the maths/theory totally wrong, but pls correct me if so.... but if we have a reading of 250mah that means we are taking 250 ma per hour. Say our baterry is 1500mah (should provide 1500ma for one hour) does that mean we get 6 hours (1500/250) from a full charge??
Shoot me down if I have the theory wrong.... but 250mah does seem a lot. Presume that we need to trust the reading we are getting from the Battery Monitor Pro widget.

I think your math is correct, but something is surely wrong as I can get 3+ days under very light usage.
something wrong with mine tooo, ex user of hd2 usually around 7-9 mah when hd2 in idle, now use sensation around 200++
I gonna leave it 1rst if my battery drain in 6-7 hours then something wrong with my sensation but if it over 8 hours seem there is flaw in current widget
When the App does logging, your phone will need more power. Not accurate in my opinion. I also got something like 200 mA for idle. But it's not so much more when playing music etc. I assume the display consumes most of the power (Android's battery usage info agrees with me). Try measuring it in standy as follows: Disable your logging apps etc, remember your battery status in %. Leave it in Standby overnight, remember the time when you turn it off. In the morning, check your batetry status and note the time so that you can tell how many % you lost in what time. Then take that percentage from your battery capacity (1580 mah with stock battery). Divide this by the amount of hours and you will find your standby drain. Mine is something like 16 ma.
Example: Your battery when you go to sleep: 80%. You sleep for 8 hours. Your battery reading now: 70%. Thats 10%. 10% of 1580 mah is 158 mah. Divided by 8 is 19.75 ma. That's your standby consumption.
I recommend you do this when your battery is around 50%. My battery stays at 100% for a very long time, don't know why...
Just installed an update to the Battery Monitor Pro Widget that is supposed to address the issue of high current readings ont he Sensation. Will see how it goes.

Makes no difference.
No app to date is accurately measuring the stdby current (screen off) Clearly 200mA is not correct as your phone would only last 8 hours wiith no usage!
I'm getting 6 mA on idle, around average of 200 mA while in use.
I'm using battery monitor widget(free version).
I'm recording the history at 1 hour interval. sometimes idle mA doesn't record because it fall within that time frame.
but when it does, 6mA.

Now here's a strange thing.... was looking at my ma usage graph over night and noticed a couple of times it was on almost 0ma and not the normal 200-250ma. On looking at the history I noticed that this as the only time the temp fell below 25deg C. All other history was 200-250 and the temp was 25 and above.... very strange.... might put it in the fridge for a few minutes tonight!!

Thanks
Just got mine about an hour ago so I will report back, what I can say that LTE is amazing.
I had it since yesterday... however.. I had a wakelock issue.. so mine never went to deep sleep till I found the culprit..
but so far so good. it's very similar to the OGSGS2 (I owned for 28 days)

Not just on LTE. I'm constantly getting 7-10 mbps on hspa+. Never ever seen that speed on any of the so call 4g phones on at&t till now. I did a speed test at 3 in the after noon where I usually was getting 1.5 - 3.0 on my ogsg2.

They are reporting a full day use with no problems.
"The battery is larger than the one on the SGSII by a good margin, the better to supply that power-hungry LTE radio. Though most of the time I was on HSPA+, the phone lasted all day and through an idle night with 30% battery remaining, a solid showing."
Another review: http://www.phonedog.com/2011/11/07/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-skyrocket-first-impressions/
"Skyrocket brings a rather large 1,850 mAh battery to the table, and it shows. If you're a road warrior or someone who's away from an outlet for an extended period of time, this may be the device for you. With moderate use including some calling, text messaging, browsing the web, downloading apps, and running Quadrant Standard tests, I was able to make it through the day and well into the evening before a recharge was needed. On a related note, I've chided Samsung devices in the past for taking too long to charge, and that seems to have been improved upon. "
(woot 100th post)
have to say it has Great Battery life.....probably the best on a phone that i have had so far. again its still new. but i get a full day of use and still have 30-40 percent done by the time i hit the pillow.
im impressed especially since its an LTE phone and everyone kept yelling----IT WILL BE A BATTERY HOG.
nope
my wakelock problem was with FriendCaster Pro. After stopping the app a few times it release wakelock and it's properly going to deep sleep
As for battery. I finally got a "full" day of use. from 10am to 11pm I have about 19% left. That included GPS use for about 15mins, watched a movie on NetFlix (A Knight's Tale) and about an hour worth of 3-way calling and some texting.
I have Background and Auto Sync on with K9 email polling every hour for one of my POP3 + and 2 IMAP account is pushed.
Polling calendar using Calengoo every 3 hours
Honeslty no issues at all. I use my phone for txt calls web all day for work had no issues at all. I don't have Lte in my area but occasionally travel to areas that do. No pixel issues either, yea its bigger but nothing noticeable.

I wish I could say the same. 12 hours later my phone is down to 10% from full charge.
Guess I will pay AT&T a visit and see if they would replace the battery for me.
today... i've been on battery for 13 hours, 1.5 hours with the screen on, mainly surfing around using LTE, as well some texting. also downloaded a few apps.
37% remaining.
i think that's pretty good.
I've been unplugged for a little over 18 hours as of now, (about 7 of that was idle while I was asleep) and I am at 34% right now. I've used the phone quite a bit today and I would say that battery life seems to be about the same as the original GSII.
Yea mine is no different from the i777 s2. I did however root it n disable some junk. I'm sure that had something to do wit it.

Yes quite respectable, granted my iPhone runs forever on a charge but it's pretty good. Also I had read that the phone will turn off the LTE radio if it's not in a LTE area, opposed to other networks.
Hope these skyrocket threads can be moved to their correct destinations...

can u post some shots of battery use I'm getting only about 6hrs at most changed battery already think it might b the phone want to go show att rep so I can replace phone with no restocking fee
This is from my first day with the phone, you can see it was idle for the first 7 or so hours while I was asleep, then what I would consider pretty heavy use, being my first day with the phone.
This is what mine looks like after 2 hrs
why do I think my screen is at 51 how high is your brightness? Just figured out that automatic screen brightness is set to certain brightness turned down maybe will help me get more battery life

So, I flashed Black Dragon 4.0 last night, and I gotta say, the battery life is pretty incredible. I've used it a good bit this morning for texting, a call, and a music app, and I've barely gone 15%. The idle life is what's truly impressive. I think it dropped only 1% overnight (8 hrs).
Even WITH sense, it's still pretty good. But it's nice to have all those useless HTC and T-Mobile services/apps gone. It definitely makes a bit of difference on performance and batt life.
Is there anything broken on that ROM or is everything up and running? GPS, Camera, gallery, etc etc.
i'm on the stock batter, it's 3 here, i've used it regularly, texts, calls, internet, maps, and i'm at 76%. it's so nice having a battery that lasts
One of the advantages of having a non-user-replaceable battery is the fact that they can make them bigger and in different shapes. Apple's laptops are this way, and when they made the switch, the increase in batt life was pretty drastic.
It'll be interesting to see this thing taken apart on iFixIt or somewhere else.
Is there a way to know if the battery is done charging with the phone off? The orange LED just seems to stay on forever...
I would suggest it hasn't fully charged or there is a fault - I charge mine overnight and it's always green in the morning
Mitigation - I never switch it off: screen off, phone on.

Literally 5 minutes after I posted that, it went green. First time it's had a proper full charge, when I tried to charge it while on the battery meter just fluctuated up and down all over the place! Gonna let it run down and charge it again before I get worried that there's something wrong.
I got mine from T-Mo yesterday on my way to school and i must say the battery life on this phone is crazy good. After my second charge cycle, i really think this phone was design for raw power and most of all great battery life. I'm also enjoying the beauty this piece of equipment. . Right now i have the screen on auto-brightness, gmail, yahooo, hotmail, facebook, dropbox and weather on auto sync. I'll say no more results in the pictures below.

Not sure which phone you've been using but the stats that you've posted aren't impressive in the least... pretty bad if u ask me.

I'd tend to agree with this. I'm sure you meant well with the pictures, but my Nexus S beats this and the battery in it is old. I don't think that was a great metric right there. My real world use has been drastically different.
I was going to post a pic, but my ROM crashed or something (no biggie, it's expected with new ROMs) and my battery usage got reset. I took it off the charger ~10 hrs ago and have used it for quite a bit of twitter, text, calls, web, and fiddling around, and I'm just down to 73%. The stand-by life is what will truly impress you, at least from what I've seen.
The screenshots seem very impressive to me. I have an HTC Amaze with the 1900 mah Anker battery and I'll get around 2 hours of on screen time. And the One S is getting almost four!? If anyone is getting better then that I would love to see screenies of it. Only screen on time though as I could get very high numbers as well by not using my phone. Can't wait till my One S gets here!
Love this phone...S4 ftw
Yesterday I got.
12 hours and 50 min with 2 hours and 40 minutes screen time and I still had 41% left.
Off topic: didn't want to make a new thread, and I've searched but nothing found.
I'm really considering this phone but when the battery reaches the end of its life how much will a replacement battery be likely to cost fitted?
I know I'll probably have a new phone by this time but I keep all my electronic devices well looked after and don't sell them so just curious as it seems like a pretty deep task.
