They made the Nexus Q, and I know its not an indication. Has anyone else thought about it? The material and feel looks really nice, and google is well known so it could sell. Would you like a Google Made nexus?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
The problem with the Q is the price they are charging for what it does.
If their newer nexus phone is made in America like the Q then imagine the price they would charge.
Price is everything.

If it's made in USA and the parts are good: I'd buy it at whatever price. Sorry in advance for going on a political rant but a lot of problems like jobs lies in outsourcing for the sake of costs. I'm willing to pay a bit more if it helps another American keep a job, or probably create more here where we need it.
Although, I don't know if Google specializes in hardware development.....

I have to agree with your sentiment, as the manufacturing industry in my country (Australia) has suffered significantly over the past few decades, due to the outsourcing of manufacturing needs to Asia. While we have to accept that it is way more feasible to make certain products in other countries due to the manufacturing costs, it's important to support the skilled manufacturing sectors in our home countries. I really like that the Nexus Q is made in the USA, and I think many americans will too!!
I'm still not sure on whether I think the Nexus Q itself is a viable device, but I can see a place in the market for premium made-in-USA Nexus phone. However I think it would be best if Google avoids manufacturing phones itself, as I think it would weaken the position of the other phone manufacturers as Android partners.

Obviously, you haven't seen the new drop tests between the One X, S3, and iPhone 4S.
Even the iPhone did better than the S3, so that is the reason why I'm not going to buy an S3 (despite it being near perfect in any other way).
In reply to this thread, I still think we should have the 5 Nexii (and maybe a 6th from Google?)

Are there any other internal damage issues that I should be worried about?

Edit: to the Original Poster, just fyi, everything attached to the motherboard will survive quite severe shocks. Usually the screen will break before anything else. You may have seen phones with shattered LCD screens that are in otherwise perfectly functioning order
So I've had my HOX since it came out on AT&T and noticed this right away but didn't care enough to complain, but curiousity has gotten the best of me and I want to know how many other users have this...
About 1-1.25" down from the top of the screen I have a literal horizontal crease in the glass of my screen. It goes straight across and is really only noticeable when you look at reflections in the glass. You can kinda sorta feel it with your fingers. It doesn't pose any issue except an uber tiny warping effect if you use the screen as a mirror.
I'll post a picture when I get home and try to get a good angle on the screen so it's plainly obvious what I mean.
Edit: Actually...I'm not sure whether it's concave or convex...not that it really matters
None of mine ever had this. Sounds life a material defect.

Here's the picture. You can see a distortion across the width of the screen.
I've seen similar defects in the international section. Get a replacement.

It doesn't bother me enough to warrant me going and getting a replacement. Like I said, it doesn't affect the actual on-screen image, just the reflection off the surface of the glass.

The reason I'm saying replace it is the integrity of the glass might be compromised and possibly more prone to breakage.
Yeah although it doesn't matter right now it might become a problem in the future. Its best in my opinion just to get a replacement to prevent all that.

Sorry but when you pay $600 for a phone, you want it to be perfect and shouldn't have to settle for less. Every device I returned had legitimate hardware defects.
I'll see how I feel in a few days before I make the decision to go get it replaced. I know the concern for breakage later on is perfectly valid, just gotta decide whether it's worth the trouble. I'm super careful with my phones. My old Captivate survived 2 years with nothing but normal wear on the back and 2 cracks on the top where the plastic was real thin (bad Samsung...)

I owned one and sold many. It was sturdy, but the way it locked onto the phone kind of sucked. It could pop right off and it was the sliding mechanism of the phone that made it a 2 piece. There's solid no keyboard phones have a advantage with sturdier cases.
I wouldn't even bother...the case is such crap...the prongs on the upper case, pulled two of my keys clean off my keyboard...which was a common issue that I didn't hear about until "after" it was purchased. The only way to prevent this was to file the prongs off, which in turn made the upper case unsecure...such a tool of a case

Okay I'm not trying to sell my s3 here, but I need advice on selling it locally. My s3 is in great condition. the screen has literally NEVER been touched, but I did drop it on a church trip and a crack covers a bottom corner. Just one in-line crack on the bottom corner. I want to know a decent selling price is cause you can't tell the crack is on the screen when the screen is on and everything works perfect still. including where the crack is. I have the s4 now so I'm looking for a little extra cash but don't wanna rip myself or a buyer off. thanks!

all you need is a 20 dollar part and a heat gun/ hair dryer.
there are videos on youtube. looks pretty "fool proof" if you are willing to risk possibly messing the digitizer up. if that happens you are at like 200 bucks in repairs.

Honestly, I don't believe it will sell as is. The S4 is out and that has caused some S3s on Ebay and Craig's List that don't have the crack for fairly reasonable prices.
I hope I'm wrong but I'd really try to repair it or at least get prices on having someone else do it for you. If you know someone who can fix it, you might get it done for parts plus a couple of six packs.
Radioshack has a service they offer that fixes broken screens and it is less than a 100 bucks. I know in my area there are at least 2 places that fix screens for less than 50 dollars. Most of the phones on Craigslist in my area have already dropped in prices so don't expect much more than 200 for a broken screen.
