Gamers Rejoice!!!
For those of you that haven't heard, Android Gaming is taking on a new face... an actual CONSOLE, that's right folks, your very on console, here are the specs and the back story behind this amazing creation:
Click to collapse
OUYA began as a project concept like many, but has quickly set itself aside from any other project that may have been like it. In the course of 8 hours, OUYA has raised 1 million dollars as a new Kickstarter Project, and this is not even including the other 29 days left for funding (people must really wanna see this come to pass). Here is why its so great (SPEC CHECK):
- Tegra3 quad-core processor
- 1GB RAM
- 8GB of internal flash storage
- HDMI connection to the TV, with support for up to 1080p HD
- WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
- Bluetooth LE 4.0
- USB 2.0 (one)
- Wireless controller with standard controls (two analog sticks, d-pad, eight action buttons, a system button), a touchpad
- Android 4.0
Pretty impressive right?Due to the unexpected increase in funding, we could very well see an increase in that internal flash storage, maybe even an expandable memory slot, who knows. But all of that Tegra 3 quad core, ice cream sandwich, 8 Gig goodness is not even the best part! This console has been rumored to hit a TV near you one day for a mere $99. That's right, you could Enjoy all your favorites, whether you're a shooter addict and have a taste for some alien slaying in N.O.V.A. 3, or maybe you like to feel the virtual wind in your hair in a nice race in Real Racing 2, and for you people that love to serve your country, shoot a couple of spies in Modern Combat 3, all for less than the price equivalent of 2 new Xbox 360 games. Not to mention, with Android's recent participation in Major League Gaming, this could set the bar on a new plateau. The (virtual gaming) world is your oyster, and these are just the hard core games, the sky is the limit with compatibility due to it running our favorite sweet treat OS version.
Want to check out a video from the developers themselves, check it out HERE
And for all you developers and hackers, this is your call to fame! the console is (and I quote from the people that made it) "hackable". read this quote from Mobile Magazine:
Perhaps the even bigger kicker is that there is an open SDK where they promise to provide digitally-delivered titles for free. I imagine the marketplace will start with a handful of freeware titles and free-to-try games, but it has to open up to paid games eventually.
So any and all (LEGITIMATE!!!! NO PIRACY IS CONDONED, but then again, that's Android's major loophole with the whole Open Source thing) hacking and modding is welcomed, say goodbye to JTAG-ing or jumping through hoops to make your console your own (you paid for it so you should be able to do any LEGITIMATE, cant stress that enough, modifications you want! get the message Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo?).
So, you could spend $400 on a Galaxy Tab, or even $200 for the Nexus 7 for HDMI output, OR you can pay $100 for a console that (due to the vigorous nature of the Android Community) will inevitably get full access to the Google Play Store for you to play your favorite games (and maybe apps, don't quote me on that though) on your 1080p HD screen. BUT I'm just the messenger droid, the real magic is happening behind the scenes and hopefully we can get some awesom updates! Stay on the lookout for this project, and keep on gaming!
Thanks for reading guys,
ognimnella

Are you buying one? Comment below!

I'm so excited I can't even process it! I've already put my $0.02 in on the thread in the General forum. But O.O. I wonder what this means for the future of Gaming, Android, etc. Now I just need to pledge my money to get a console and maybe an extra controller (And the founder status attached to my Gamer tag would be sweet.)

Our game has a unique new monetization method - buy "Ultra" version for $1.99 and all features are unlocked from the start. Or play the ad-supported free version, as cumulative gameplay time passes you will unlock all features and at the 10-hour mark all ads will disappear forever - both versions will be identical.
No one has tried this monetization method before; help support us and we can make all of our games this way!
DESCRIPTION:
Easy for anyone to learn in a minute, but deep enough to challenge the most extreme players. Fans of classic games like Tetris Attack and Bust-a-Move will love the new "shoot and flip" mechanic!
180 is an insane flipping match-3 drop action puzzle game! Launch coins into three-in-a-rows to clear the vertically-descending board. Play alternate colors by flipping coins 180 degrees at any time. Create incredible combos and be rewarded with HUGE scores - just don't let the coins touch the red line at the bottom, or it's game over!
FEATURES:
- Multiple game modes and characters, with big updates in development now! Watch for Mutliplayer, Tablet Mode, Casual Mode
- OpenFeint achievements & leaderboard tracking
- High-rez HD graphics look great on your tablet! "Lo-fi mode" (coming soon) will run on older devices too!
- Multiple gameplay secrets, can you figure them out?
HEADCASE GAMES:
This is our 1st Android title! We are expats from the big studio dev houses who have worked on some of your favorite games (Guitar Hero, Neverwinter Nights, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Alpha Protocol). After starting in iOS development we are making a splash on Android with the first release in what will be an impressive lineup of games to come! Support us and we will bring you more of what you want: great games, fully-featured for the awesome price of FREE!
This is a great game. I really like it
We released an update late yesterday which will run a lot smoother on older handsets which might have been hitting a performance wall with the previous version.
If you have a higher-end phone and it is still autodetecting a lower setting, you can try manually forcing to a higher resolution by doing the following input at the title screen:
STATS-OK-STATS-OK-CREDITS-OK-STATS-OK
this will cycle through Force SD, Force HD, and Force Auto-detect ("factory setting")
To make the adjustment "take" you need to Force Stop the app (even if you've quit out of it). Android/Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/180/Force Stop
im surprised i havent played this on the ipod touch, that ive had for 6 months lol.
Awesome tho now its on my Epic 4g with nice HD Graphics on a beutiful amoled screen
This is a very unique cconcept its like bust a move mixed with a bejeweled game, im already addicted and want to play more but im at work.
Great game runs smooth and best of all its free!!!
Both versions - updated on Android Market last night to 2.2, fixed a bug that caused the music to play over the lock screen. We're working on a fullscreen version as well (no more letterbox)
Would appreciate if any of you who are using the ad-supported version (but not ever seeing ads) could test and report if that has changed. Thank you!
We were featured as Amazon App of the Day last week, if you missed it! Got plenty of nice reviews from that fickle crowd, so if you are on the fence you might have a look.
In other news, I am beginning development of a completely different type of game, hopefully due in about 2 months or so. This next one will be a side-scroller and I think you folks will like it
poking my head in to say what's up once again - today we are getting a potentially big promotion from Nook (launched on that store less than 1 month ago) and to celebrate, we worked hard to put together a free strategy guide which explains the ins and outs of the game, check it out over here
got a bit more promotion coming yet (please, please, keep it coming.. I've been doing this stuff for a few years now and only getting broker for it :S ) and then onto the next project very soon. A throwback to classic gaming in a way that hasn't really been done properly on the mobile front before!
I got this when it was the free app of the day. I haven't played it yet, though. I haven't had time to get through all the "free" apps from Amazon! But I love the way you are monetizing it! Awesome, unique idea! Looking forward to see your newest games.
Has anyone hit 10 hours on this game? 10 hours seem like a crazy long time to play a casual phone game.
Although I do like the game and monetizing concept. Maybe it will be me hitting 10 hours.

BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha : Hands-on

As a result, RIM is being tight-lipped on much of the device's specs, including the processor speed, camera megapixel count and display type. The BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha welcome screen. Source : Asia.Cnet

The first thing that strikes you is the bright and sharp screen. So far, we know that it's a 4.2-inch 1,280 x 768-pixel (WXGA) display, but not the type of screen or pixel layout. That brings the device's pixel density to 355 ppi, which beats the iPhone's 326 ppi Retina Display hands down.
The Dev Alpha is able to hold its own next to the Galaxy S II's Super AMOLED Plus screen
Many have dubbed the Dev Alpha a mini Playbook. The full touchscreen form factor is similar and the Dev Alpha is made from the same matte black material that covers the PlayBook's back.
While we're on the topic of RIM's tablet, the Dev Alpha seems to be running a barebones OS that's reminiscent of the PlayBook OS 2.0. In fact, checking the prototype's software version shows "PlayBook OS 10".
Since BB 10 is going to be QNX-based, there are going to be some similarities between the PlayBook OS 2.0 and the next-generation operating system. However, Smith adds that what is seen on the Dev Alpha now is not reflective of the final UI, which will actually look more like Live Tiles on Windows Phone.
This being a prototype device, the software was buggy at times, and didn't always detect our fingers. Also, there are no preinstalled apps except the camera and browser.
We didn't get to test the amazing time warp function, where you can scroll a few frames forward or backward to get the best shot. All images that were shot via the front- and rear-facing cameras also simply disappeared off the screen.
With BB OS 10, you're supposed to be getting the new onscreen keyboard. This feature wasn't available on the device we tested, but our CNET US counterpart Brian Bennett did try it, and had good things to say about it:
At first glance it doesn't look like much, just a standard layout with not many options for dual-functions. When you start typing, though--that's when the magic happens. Each letter you tap will cause the phone to display suggested words above the letter it thinks you're most likely to type next. I tried my hand at banging out a few messages and I often found myself staring right at the word sitting on the tip of my tongue. It's honestly an uncanny feeling, almost as if the device was reading my mind.
In addition, there's the ability to swipe upwards on predicted words to add them to the message body. The new keyboard is supposed to help you to input text more efficiently, as well as use a modelling algorithm that will tailor itself to your typing habits over time. It's similar to what's already on the PlayBook, only more intuitive to use.
Finally, you'll find the microSD slot, microHDMI and microUSB ports on the left side. The Dev Alpha packs some 16GB of non-expandable onboard storage and 1GB of RAM, as well as a non-removable battery. Connectivity-wise, there's the usual suite of options like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Internet tethering and near-field communications (NFC). Unfortunately, there isn't a SIM card slot.
If RIM's final BB 10 devices look as good as the Dev Alpha--and actually runs BB 10 OS smoothly--we feel pretty upbeat about its chances in the market. Let's just hope it doesn't follow the footsteps of the PlayBook, which received rave reviews when it was announced, but failed to perform after it was released. All images via Aisa.Cnet

Yeah, I hear you, still working on Knight of the Earthends myself. Played Silver Nornir for about 30 minutes just to get a feel for it..... I have to keep one Kemco game on my phone at a time or I wont finish one, I'll jump all over.. too tempting.
Found this one, its also Optimized and looks neat that you can, apparently, fight using a tank..

Looks like Chronus Arc, Destiny Fantasia and Link of Hearts are Xperia Play Optimized as well:
CHRONUS ARC on the Google Play Store
Destiny Fantasia on the Google Play Store
Link of Hearts on the Google Play Store
... at KEMCO's rate, I reckon we have about 13 minutes left to beat the other RPGs before they have all three of those translated and ready for release
Hahaha. I know right!

Kemco - New Release - Cross Hearts Arcadia

Just got an email, sadly it is listed as Not Xperia PLAY Optimized. For the record this is the second game to be released without this support. Either way here it is:
EDIT - Per TLRtheory, it does use the XP controls despite it saying that it does not, going to guess its like Symphony of the Origin where it says not optimized but it is, sort of.

It definitely is listed as not Xperia Play Optimized...but it uses the same game engine as Covenant of Solitude.
I bought it to test a theory, and it turns out the game completely works with Xperia Play controls!

Thanks for confirming controllers work TLRtheory, I bought it and sideloaded it on my OUYA. It feels like i'm playing a SNES game sitting in front of a tv with a controller!

How are you liking the ouya?
Sent from my R800at using xda premium
Loving it, but im convinced it's doomed to be a commercial failure. The hardware is terrific and everything I've ever wanted out of an Android console but the App store selection is a joke. Power users like us know that we can sideload all our favorite games to our hearts content, which is exactly what i've done, but someone who's never used Android before will get bored with it after about an hour.
I have about 3-5 OUYA exclusives i'm playing, whereas I have 12 THD/Gameloft games I'm playing due to sideloading. Oh well, at least i'm happy even though I doubt we'll ever see an OUYA 2. This should keep me occupied until Shield arrives at least.

Someone I know can do a port. of this game??

The other day looking for Dragon Ball games, I found this fun mugen:

PS: the caputuras are an old version of the game (2.4.5) the new version (2.8.0) is much better cast and better animations.
1) The game has a story mode (With all the sagas, minus the GT)
2) has a VS mode (which can be played up to 6 characters at once, (1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, 3 vs 3, 1 vs 2, 2 vs 3 ... etc)
3) It also includes a way to play online, also up to 6 players.
4) the game is very easy to edit, and you can add characters, editing skills, transformations and many more things (editing files and folders within the game in windows)
Here I leave a page where you create characters:
http://dbxpersonagens.blogspot.com.br/
in short, it's fun.
but I said, no point playing it on my pc, with games like (Battlefield 3, NFS Most Wanted, or even taking the Drago Ball Z PS2 emulator) then I thought, what if someone portara to android (as the game weighs no more than 60 mb)
so I was wondering if any of you know any developer that can make a port. for android of this simple and fun game .. @Pizza_Dox @smokerman @fma965 @poo-tang
@^I'm_With_Stupid @DiKeJ
and so we can play it on our Xperia Play
(below I leave a link to download it those who want to try, which is edited by me, I've added some characters., and am currently finishing editing, to leave well rounded., and adding some unknown characters. )
Link To Game Dragon Ball Budokai X (For Windows): http://www.mediafire.com/?8l0fowl8b24qlds
PS:is a mugen game, therefore it is absolutely free, so it is not Warez
Hope you interested in the idea ..
Greetings friends ..
So, you mean this is PC game and you want to make Android version, yes, am I correct? Just making sure, no sarcasm here if you felt something like that . Cheers Bro ^^.
@DiKeJ
clear .. this is a PC game, and would be nice if someone could port it to android .. but not entirely understanding your comment .. : (
can then somehow or not?
since I see there are so many other port android games (example: return castle Wolftein - Doom 3 - Quake 3) is that maybe it's a really stupid request on my part. but ask not lose anything. So, you mean this is PC game and you want to make Android version, yes, am I correct? Just making sure, no sarcasm here if you felt something like that . Cheers Bro ^^.[/QUOTE]
I mean I didn't want you to feel stupid or smth, I just wanted to make me sure and clear - now I know all .
About topic - I think it's possible, as you said, other PC ports are gets its port with 3d graphics etc. etc., but the main difference could be engine or part of programming. I think we need to contact developer of those PC ports, so he will tell us if he can do it, or is it even possible . I know a page when some guy relase always fresh new version of those games, so I'm sure he is Dev or just have good contact with him .
@DiKeJ
thanks man ..
I could spend that page spoken of?? or any private contact? : (
Therefore this, like other Mugen (Naruto - Samurai X - One Piece) and many other series are very good games .. .. that would be worth porting to android .. for more then be paid at the google play, are games that would be worth buying (which are also games that do not take up much memory and very low PC demand requirements)
We will contact privately, just in case to not angry Mods or so .
Write to me via Google Hangouts on [email protected] .
To port anything, you first need the source code. Mugen is a closed source project, so the only person who can do that is the Mugen author.
There is a project called OpenMugen that is aiming to become a replacement for Mugen while being open source, though. I dont follow the mugen scene, but it seems like it still has a long way to go.
There is also something called "Paintown", which has an android version and seems to have a mugen mode: http://paintown.sourceforge.net/
I did not check it out, just saw it by googling.
Firstly: This mention stuff is great but also annoying, Please don't mention me for things relating to "wanting to be developed" as i am not a developer nor do i appreciate being emailed constantly about things that don't even regard me (but i keep email on for "important" issues)
Secondly: Wouldn't this be better off in Android General section instead of the Xperia Play specific section.
