Hello all,
As you know, the US version of One S has no HTC locations and premium navigation.
Is it possible to have it so I could flash it to my device?
Thanks

Because google maps uses data as far as I know. HTC locations has maps preloaded so you only use GPS to locate places.

Good to know...you can cache google maps via wifi though, so unless you don't know where you're going, it's still probably better and more up to date.

G Maps it's better and it's free... with location you have only the firt 30 days for premium navigation than... you have to pay! It's better another navigation program (as copilot or sygic) so, if you are changing with another Android mobile you can sill use it.

Google maps has had me lost to many times it loses signal or thinks I'm on a different road especially in metro areas I was in Baltimore last week and i was on the correct route the out of nowhere it started to reroute.
ATT nav doesn't do it but its 120/year

ATT nav and VZ Navigator are basically the same based tele-atlas app I believe. I am not a fan of any gps app that has to have data to work. And I know that google maps can cache maps but it is a feature you need to set up ahead of time and when in need is when google maps usually fails.
Why don't you look into sygic or ndrive? Both use downloaded maps and require no data to use. Sygic is only around $24 for USA and they give you a free 7 day trial before buy. Ndrive also gives you a 7 day trial. Not as good as sygic but still a cheap alternative.
Both available on the market. Sygic uses tele atlas maps and ndrive uses navteq maps. Just FYI.
Thanks for the heads up I actually did see sygic in the market I will download and try out
Thanks again

Or activate Google labs and tell Google maps to pre cache your maps, it's a free option and I can attest to the fact that it works.

How 'bout Sygic Aura?
Have you ever thought about the Sygic Aura? There are some sites out there that will let you download the .APK file. Install it & then you just need a WiFi connection to download the maps & presto, your all set. It works great for me.
Good luck!
Coming from Sprint I used the TeleNav which was FREE and flawless. On ATT i only see their app and Mapquest. Any free, dependable and has turn by turn GPS apps you could recommend?

Waze, should be the best among the GPS apps in the US.
its uses the internet and the Waze Community to get information about traffic , police and such.
I use Google Navigation. By far the best I've used.

another vote for Waze. It's like stock navigation made better by other users. If you're even a remotely risky driver, Waze will alert you of cops, road hazards, and better-than-default routes during inclement weather, traffic, or whathaveyou.
I'll say Waze too. Been using it since my HTC Fuze.
I recommend SYGIC, it was useful for me when i didnt have data plan on my phone
Trying out Waze...thanks

Depending on where i'm going I use Google navigation or waze. Google seems to be more updated so if I'm going somewhere kind of "out there" I use that but if if it's a fairly common place I'll use waze

Hi,
Im running newt's v2 JB 4.1.1 sense 4+ rom. I have a problem where Google Maps and Nav aren't working. I did a quick search on this problem and it seems like a small number of others have this problem too but there isn't a definite fix for it? Could somebody help me out since I need a definite answer or solution. Thank you!

Settings-Location and Security-Credential Storage- User Credentials. GPS Location is a privacy concern. Denyng apps to access this will not let it gather GPS location. Not allowing apps access is the main cause of this.

I'm having the same problem on all jb Roms. So am I suppose to clear all credentials?
Sent from my HTC One XL using Tapatalk 2
I tried to find this "Locations and Security" menu, but I wasn't able to. Not in the phone Settings or in the Maps settings. Where can find this? Thanks!
It may be under settings- location. If not you might be able to run the Rom setup again and allow apps gps access.

From what I've read, most people are just using a 3rd party Nav App.
I used Navigon and I had problems with it losing GPS signal just like Google Nav.

Try flashing different radios and test.
A lot of people are having this problem, a simple solution is to you a different navigation app.
But if you don't like any other app, just click on the compass in the Google navigation app, this will change the view to 2D and facing north. It fixes the crashing problem

If GPS is losing connection with 3rd party apps though, this is a radio issue, try flashing different radios.

Flash a different ROM.
Hey everyone, hope someone can help.
I love Google now, and use it every day. But I've been getting an annoying issue constantly.
I'm getting commute cards coming up all the time saying I'm 39 minutes away, 45 minutes away etc... from my home location. I did some closer looking and noticed that its not getting my correct location. Google Now (and Google maps) seems to think I'm elsewhere, when I'm actually at home. I also noticed that when launching Google maps, it shows the wrong location on boot, then fixes to my GPS location.
I'm annoyed by this because it use to work perfect a couple weeks back, and that I use this on a daily basis for bus route times. I can't use it now because its giving me bus routes and times from the location Google thinks I'm at.
Here's some information about my phone:
- Liquid ROM
- Latest Google Search from Play Store
- Wi-Fi off, GPS on, Data on.
Hope someone can help me out.

(Actually I bought the Plus version for $3 because I use it a lot.)
Also, I found that when roaming, it doesn't seem to pick up location from cell networks. (I have data roaming disabled.)

It is enabled.
After doing some research, many people are saying that using WiFi will help out pinning my location.
So for my next test, im turning on WiFi, and disabling background location reporting. I found that background location reporting didn't do anything different to my Google Now data, and was a big battery drainer, making Google maps the top app draining my battery even though it wasn't being used.

Agreed....this is a swift kick in the pants for me. I just got a bunch of family members to start using Latitude and now this. Even if I switched to G+ and got them to, I still have to set it all up from scratch. You can't import your friends from one to the other.
I've really been trying to NOT use Google + but, being a heavy user of Google Talk to chat, Google Voice for SMS, and Google Latitude for location sharing it seems I will have no choice soon.
I downloaded it this morning. I like it. I think the features are nice and its a bit quicker. Seems much more modern to me then the older version. I don't use offline maps, so it doesn't bother me too much.
I think also if you type in "OK Maps" it will save maps for offline.

You can get the new version there and then update it with the Play Store.
If you previously had Location Reporting off, this update to Google Maps turns it back on automatically.

I think it's terrible, where have all the features gone? It all seems based around Google+ and social stuff which I don't use... where are my maps? I have a ton of maps that I update regularly on my pc that I use on my devices and now they are all useless.
