[Q] How to remove Wifi Notification from Verizon SG3 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I'm trying to follow the steps found at the link below but I'm not seeing line 86 that they're referring to. Any ideas?
http://www.droid-life.com/2012/07/0...g-wifi-notification-on-the-verizon-galaxy-s3/
EDIT: Nevermind. It was in line 10.

I believe I've seen elsewhere online that it may also be in line "10". Just keep looking, I'm sure you'll find it

Yeah, you're right. It was line 10. I must have missed it in haste. Thanks!

Why did i loose my data after using SQLite Editor?
i went through the steps, i didn't find it on line 86, but 11. it didn't work and now i have no data
Edit: after waiting a bit longer data came back. Waiting on factory replacement after insurance company sent me a used phone that had not been wiped. Windows told me it was missing device hardware, after I wiped, and 12 hours later Verizon updated phone so that the hardware is no longer missing. Waiting on factory replacement to unlock, gotta send this back factory: stock, stupid.

Sprint TV 2.1 ROM's

I have searched and only found the posts in separate threads talking about the loss of Sprint TV, and most have not been addressed within the threads. I had Damage 2.1 ROM installed and lost Sprint TV after nearly a week. States I need to be a Sprint Customer to use this app.
I switched to the Fresh 2b ROM last night and had Sprint TV working. This morning I get the same message I am not a Sprint Customer.
I have updated the Build.prop file to show the 310120 and Sprint thinking this might help. Just curious if anyone out there with more knowledge than me has a fix for this. As I stated in a thread post, the TV on the phone is a great kid distraction at times when I need it. That and I like having everything I am paying for working.
Thanks
Interesting, I was thinking about flashing my ROM to one of the custom 2.X roms, however if this is the case I may just wait a while. Although I don't use Sprint TV alot, jniiya is right, it is a good kid distraction to have on your phone... Then again TV turns kids in to zombies.
I can run Sprint TV just find using damgeless, and I'm able to stream with no problem. I did have to restart my phone after I installed it though.
JUST USE FRESH'S PRE KITCHEN TO FLASH IT I did it on damageless rom with no probs whatsoever

It's not a problem of getting on the phone. I have had it installed from day one with both ROMs. It works for a while, but then it gives me the error of you need to be a Sprint Customer to use this app.
I am thinking since these builds are based off the Eris it is sending some type of info back to the Sprint servers show it as a Verizon phone. I just can't figure out what it is since I have changed the build.prop file, and I am not familiar enough with these systems/codes to dig around and think of another place it would be sending back info as if it were Verizon.
This is not like a deal breaker with me in anyway. Just trying to figure it out for the future.
Thanks for reading the post.

Exact same problem here. It works for a while, then I get that error message. If I uninstall and reinstall Sprint TV (pick your favorite method), it works for a while again, but after minutes, hours, or a day (no noticeable pattern) I get that error message.
I've posted on it in several threads about this topic hoping to find a fix. People have told me to edit my build.prop file. I keep trying, but I'm new to this, and every time I try to add the lines below I have problems. The phone freezes during boot up, and I end up having to do a nandroid restore.
ro.cdma.home.operator.numeric=310120
ro.cdma.home.operator.alpha=Sprint
Several threads on this forum and others say this (or variations on it) will solve the problem, but it locks my phone up. I've tried with the =, without, with spaces before and after, and at various places within the file. I wonder if I'm doing something really stupid because I don't know exactly what the formatting is supposed to be. If anybody knows of a tutorial on build.prop, I'd be thrilled to use that, but I haven't been able to find one.
Been working fine for me. Running Fresh 2.0b2 since Flipz released it.
Not to hijack, but have you tried the TV.com app? Something like that I think I uninstalled it, but I thought it was actually better than Sprint TV...
Yep, I went back to 1.5 Fresh because of Sprint TV. Sprint just got ESPN and the NCAA tourney should be on. I am crossing my fingers that Sprint releases the update in the next week or so.

You do not have to add the lines just change the values. The lines are already in there.
This fix didn't work for me. It still tells me I need to be a sprint subscriber.

They're not in the build.prop on my phone. It's not like I didn't look for them. I even used the search feature on my editor. The only line I have that contains cdma is:

Sorry about that. What rom are you using. I am damage 1.0 if you want I can post the build.prop from my phone but I do not know if it will fix SprintTv because I do not use and I have not installed it.

No problem. I am also using damage 1.0, however, I see references to pancake (and cupcake, bikcmp) in my build.prop file. I was surprised by that. Is that normal? I did do a wipe (wipe data/factory reset) before I installed damage. In fact, I wiped before going from pancake to fresh 2.0 and again before going from fresh 2.0 to damage.
If you can post the build.prop, I'll give it a try and report back.

Sorry for the late post. I just pull it from my phone. Attached is the build.prop from Damage 1.0. Again I do not use SprintTv or have it installed so I do not know if it will fix it. You have to rename the file to build.prop and push it to /system/.
Ok so I'm watching ESPN all day long at work, and I turn it off so I can get ready to leave work.
While on the subway I try to access it and I get the "You must be a Sprint customer to view Sprint TV" or some crap like that. I'm like ok, maybe because I might be roaming on Verizon network its not letting me. So I wait until I have a good signal and try again, same error message.....
I tried restarting phone, disable and re-enable mobile network, and checked to make sure I wasn't roaming. No Luck.
Look for the Tmobile ported one
Has anyone tried it on Darch's rom. It's based off of the legend which is for sprint?
Can i get a link to the official Sprint TV APK. I cant find it. I have the hacked t-mo one. but half of the video is cut off for some reason

[Q] Anyone experience earpiece issue?

On my skyrocket from AT&T I was having an issue with the battery indicator getting stuck at 100%.
I updated the phone to the latest OTA update, no root or anything on this phone, all completely stock.
After update phone info is as follows:
Model Number: SAMSUNG-SGH-I727
Android Version: 2.3.6
Baseband Version: I727UCLA3
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.11
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.UCLA3
After I did the update the battery indicator has not come back (awesome right?, not so fast.)
Now I have an issue with call quality, my best attempt at describing it is like the ear piece sounds blown out, it kind of has a vibrate when people talk, Its not just one persons phone either, its any call I get/place.
I'm not sure if I should try a factory reset, revert back to 2.3.5?, Go to AT&T for a new one.
If anyone has had this issue and knows how to fix it please post. I apologize ahead of time if this is already posted somewhere, I looked for a few hours on google and couldn't find it anywhere. Also even if you don't know how to fix it, could you please post if your having the same issue so I know I'm not alone and have some ammo if I do have to go to AT&T.

Of course I'm 4 days outside my 30 day trial period so I would have to get a replacement mailed to me if I can't get it to work.
Lady I spoke with there was very nice (as always) but didn't have any idea what to do (as always) and advised I try and factory reset it. What the hell, mine as well.
Also got her to tell me that if I root and custom rom it and it still dosn't work I can still RMA it. So she went against what all their documentation says so now I can do what I want
Figure ill factory reset first, if that dosn't work I'll ODIN it back to the original 2.3.5 if possible.
Ill keep updating this thread though incase anyone else has a similar issue.

Haha, just because she said that doesn't mean anything. Read the contract, that trumps what some lady says. Anyways, you can flash back to stock and warranty it, so it doesn't matter what anyone says

As the title says you absolutely correct. Lady probably didn't have a clue lol.
I called their warranty support line and am going to drive to their wallingford exchange place.
I was talking with my father before I called and figured if I went in and said get a manager, and told him/her if I don't have a new phone in my hand in 10 minutes, your losing a customer in 10 minutes, I bet I would get my phone
Regardless I'm getting a replacement, I did try the factory reset, didn't work. Also tried downgrading the device to 2.3.5 stock, and this also did not work.
Think its hardware, the static is only on the ear piece. Speaker phone, head phones, and bluetooth do not have the issue so I think its a odd coincidence
To anyone that may have been checking on this, it seems I got a rare case, there was actually a hardware problem on my device. Just a coincidence that I noticed it right after an update, I took it to the Customer Service place AT&T has in Wallingford, CT and the lady tried to re-flash the phone (what she said was standard procedure, she HAS to with every issue.) This didn't work so she gave me a new one.
All in all, only bad part of the experience was that it happened at all. New phone is working great.
Glad tohear that you got this taken care of.

Noob root now slightly bricked G Flex 2

Hi all. My new phone was going greatish. It was a little laggy, so thought I would root it and remove some of the preinstalled junk. All went fine no problem.
I removed some of the vodafone (UK) stuff, and all was well. Some time later though, I get a message:
"Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped"
And now my phone won't find the network and message pops up every couple of seconds. I tried a factory reset, but I suspect this made it worse as I have now lost my backups from Titanium app. The phone is basically unusable as it is due to constant error message and no network.
I have tried to access the recovery menu, but i get an empty robot with "no command".
I have seen some mention of CIDs on other forums but haven't got a clue how to go about fixing it or even where to start.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as obviously the phone is absolutely brand new, and I'm very very upset about the whole thing! Not to mention the fact that I feel like an idiot!
Anyway, thanks in advance.
You deleted something that was not suppose to be deleted. Don't the stock tot file on this forum and follow the steps to Flash back to factory
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/guide-lg-g-flex-2-stock-firmware-to-t3037593 follow the video and you should be up in running in no time . make sure this link support your version not sure which g flex2 Version you have.
Still no tot files available for the LG G Flex 2 (any variant). Sorry got to wait for some to become available.
Thanks for the input. I figured it would be something like that. Any idea when the files might be available? I don't mind being a guinea pig at this stage. My phone is LG H955 on Vodafone UK.
I am going to try and play dumb in Vodafone shop today and see if they'll replace it there and then (doubtful).
I suppose my other alternative is to return it to LG for Firmware Flash. Anyone know if this is possible and potential cost?
Strangely, I'm not so bothered about (temporarily) destroying my brand new phone too much, it's my sudden lack of connectivity that hurts the most.
Thanks guys
Further update; I have spoken to LG tech support / repair department, and I told them the phone had been rooted etc. (I didn't leave any identifying details!) They informed me that as the phone was now out of warranty, I should speak to their service partner SBE.
After calling SBE, they informed me that LG or their partner have no obligation to fix rooted phones, so apparently they just won't do it, even though I'm certain they could, which kind of sucks, as I was obviously willing to pay.
So it looks like I'm waiting for the TOT files. I hope they come along soon!
Lesson well and truly learned!

Stay positive. Hopefully those tot files come soon. I on the other hand what to experiment with my phone but need a tot file just in case I mess anything up.
If it's just your dialer that's acting up, have you tried a third party dialer to make phone calls?

Lets see if we can work on this.
Is it working ok, just not picking up the network?
How long exactly have you had it?
If you put what you all deleted meaning what folders they were in i could make a copy of that folder or apps you deleted and upload them on dropbox for you that might help get you going worth a shot
Be better if someone had the same variant as you i have the Sprint model.
Thanks again for input. I have hopefully managed to sort this with my provider. I was just within the 14 day cancellation period, so I have arranged for a brand new handset. I know its a little bit naughty but if the phone wasnt so laggy to begin with, I would never have rooted it.
I'm guessing it makes no difference to them as the phone will go back to lg for wipe and reflash as a matter of course once returned.
Thanks folks, I will remain on this forum and hopefully not do anything quite so stupid again!
Unfortunately this is my last day with this device . Great phone but i was wrong the 810 processor is dangerously hot to the point it felt like my pockets were on fire. This my second g flex2 and I'm moving on to something more reliable. Love this phone but this heat issue i can't risk. After 14 days i would be stuck with this phone and i can't take the risk of hoping of getting a device that function fine bye everyone.

Today, I've gotten myself in a similar pickle after applying noob root.. Data OK but no phonecalls and no txts. When I tried to make a call, the thing said the phone is not activated. Sprint tech supp was of course no help, so after some digging I found this: ##72786#
Factory reset, keep the data (and all apps).
That solved it.
I guess I'm old enough to know that being lazy doesn't pay.

so you had root, and while doing this factory reset you were able to go back to full stock unrooted rom? if so, were you able to install updates? i too have a sprint version and i was rooted and tried installing an update but failed, i then unrooted my phone tried the update again and still got an error. im just wondering if this method would actually help people who have the same problem as i do.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.
I tried every possible way to install this damn update. Rooted, unrooted, factory reset 4 times, tried to install from the system update in settings, from recovery (which is, at least for me, very tricky to get into) all efforts errored out.
I posted a link to the update.zip in other thread.
So then I gave up and used this noob root which killed voice calls and text.
This code I posted says it does a factory reset but is resetting something else than other factory resets because almost all my settings, passwords and all apps remained intact.. Then I used the original root method and everything works like it's supposed to.
I guess we'll have to wait until someone finally starts developing for our phone.
So after a few days I just received a notification for the update for the third time. Any suggestions as to how I should proceed? I've tried it while being rooted and failed, also tried it the second time after unrooting and failed too. Also, what is the default location where the update is downloaded to, so I can back it up.
So far nothing has worked. The update should be in the cache folder. There is also a link to download the update that someone posted in another thread here about the update.
FYI - I forced the update through recovery over root and bricked my phone. Like all the way bricked. I can get to recovery and download mode, but no fastboot even. Luckily I was within my 14 days and there is no way to tell it is rooted... because it doesn't even get that far, so I got a replacement. My sincere advice would be to wait to root until we have custom recovery and stock firmware available, and if you have root now, wait to update until a dev can release a "root safe" version.
I'm not an expert but I'm not new either. I got the original Evo on launch day and have done all kinds of dumb stuff to every phone since. This is the first time I haven't been able to recover it.

=( *hug. That sucks man, thankfully you were able to get it replaced. *pfew I dodged a bullet there. I was actually thinking about doing the same thing getting home from work. Yeah its best we don't mess with the phone any longer those that have root at the moment. Until custom recovery and stock rom is out like he says.
Wow. How did you manage to "force" the update through recovery? I tried it through recovery but it would error out. (Error 7)
I will tell you, as a cautionary tale.
The error when you flash from recovery references a specific file that is incompatible with the update. I used root explorer to investigate further and found that the root script had overwritten a system file. The original was saved as "original" so I deleted the file causing the error and renamed the original one. After that, the update went through and I thought I was golden... Only now nothing else works.

Setting up a replacement Pixel

So I have been loving my pixel and I baby it. However this morning out of nowhere when the phone vibrates it sounds like it is buzzing and probably something is loose inside causing this. Seems others have had this. Long story short looks like I need a replacement. I came from an iphone so it took me a while to set up this phone as ideally as I want. I have rooted it and have TWRP flashed.
Is the best way to set up my new phone when it comes in to back up this one with TWRP, root the new one, flash TWRP on and restore a back up? Will this remember all my settings? Will it back up my apps and info, photos?, notes?.
I'm looking for the fastest way to get set up again
Thanks in advance.

You should use Titanium Backup to back up all user apps+data. Copy that backup to your PC. When you get the new phone, root, install TB and restore. Done!
Do you have a Verizon Pixel? If you do, and the replacement device has the latest security patch, the previous advice is moot since you can't root it any more (locked bootloader).

Is the replacement on the way already? When you get a new Pixel there is a way to transfer all your programs and settings to your new device at the initial setup even without root yet. But you will want to unlock the bootloader first which will cause a factory reset and then do the transfer. I did it from my n5x and it worked great. I wasn't even unlocked or rooted and I'm still not. I haven't used Titanium backup obviously and don't feel the need to any longer. But if you want root then you might as well backup everything and restore what the transfer misses. Best part of the transfer is that all your settings get ported over to the new device, i.e. sounds, preferences, security settings etc. Titanium will not do that.
Alternately, you can set it all up again which is sometimes fun. It lets you change a bunch of stuff and make it like a new device all over again. But as you said, that does take time. Anyway, good luck with the new one.

Well currently arguing with google. Since I didn't buy it from google store but a carrier they want me to send the phone in first before they ship the new one. If you buy it from google then they send you a new one first and put a charge on hold on your CC until old one is received. I asked them to do the same for me but they said it's policy. I'm having the issue escalated.
The steps you mentioned is exactly why I want google to send me one first, through my carrier I would probably have to swap it right away and never have both in my hand.
If I get google to send me one, i'll do both things. Root then transfer via google's method and then use titanium as well for the rest of the stuff.

I don't remember seeing your response on this on your thread. Why wouldn't you guys return at Verizon? You bought these at Verizon, right? Something doesn't add up. Just curious now. I've never had a Verizon exchange not show up at my door the next day, if ordered before 4pm.

I haven't been back on XDA until now and I haven't checked my thread until just now actually lol. But I bought mine from a different retail store called Nebraska Furniture Mart they have a store in Kansas city Mo where I live and they sell the Verizon variant. I called Verizon first and they told me to contact google. Maybe there was just a misunderstanding with the rep I spoke to? I have tried lots of different options but all are pointing to sending the phone in first because I'm past the 14 day remorse period?

Mine is not from verizon, i'm in Canada. With it being christmas my carrier currently has this phone online only. They have a $300 off activation credit going on right now so have had a huge amount of order and it's couple of weeks back log.
Just to back up the fact that Verizon requires you to go through the manufacturer if it's still on the OEM's warranty, the same happened with my LG G Pad 8.3 LTE (VK810). I was paying for the absolute best Verizon warranty on all three lines, and less than six months after I got this device I had a problem with the screen on the LTE (not dropped or cracked, just not working right), and Verizon wouldn't lift a finger to help me and said I had to go through LG.
Totally off topic but luckily LG gave me the absolute best warranty service I ever received. They had me take my device to a FedEx, LG paid for FedEx to box it up and have it shipped to them. I dropped it off on a Monday evening about 5 PM and the tablet was back in my hands fully repaired (not replaced with a refurb) on Friday of the same week around the same time. Sorry for the OT part. Too bad LG bootloader unlockable devices are rare except maybe through some other carriers (T-Mobile?).

Pixel 2 trade-in

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I was wondering if anyone who used project fi's/google's trade in program got their phone evaluation yet? I sent my 128gb pixel xl in pristine condition, and made sure I factory reset it. Today I received an email that instead of the $410 I was supposed to get they're giving me $162, their reasoning being that my phone wasn't factory reset.
I actually reset it twice, once after I unrooted it and locked the bootloader, then I went in to make sure the software was working properly, that the settings were back to factory settings, then I did another factory reset. I posted on the pixel subreddit, so far one other person had the same issue, others had issues with their nexus not being received or still in shipping status.
TL;DR
I sent my phone for trade in, it said $410, received $162 instead because they claim my phone wasn't factory reset even though I reset it twice.
Charging you $250 to do a factory reset is absurd. I'd at least try to talk with them about this.
Reddit seems more active on Pixel stuff than here.
Can you deny their quote, have the device returned, and sell it on swappa? You might even get more than $410 for it.

Seriously, I sent them an email. Got a reply asking if my phone turned on properly when I shipped it and if I had removed my account info. I let them know it was in perfect condition and that i made sure my info was gone. Hopefully, I get some good news when they reply

Unfortunately no, when you sign up for the trade-in program it says they won't send your phone back regardless of what they decide to give you for it.
That would have upset me quite a bit lol. That makes me hesitant on sending the 5x in, they are only giving 115 for it, but if they decide half to 50 dollars, id rather just keep it for backup lol
I took of video on my phone with my new pixel reset and showing glass was flawless before i mailed in. they have phone hav't heard from the eval team yet..
This thread makes me nervous. I sent in the original Pixel last Thursday. I was originally quoted $350. But reading this, it's possible that they'll offer me just ~$115 by claiming that I didn't factory reset? What BS!
I actually didn't factory reset the way as was listed in the instructions that came with the kit. After backing up and signing out of my account, I flashed the most recent Nougat image using the SDK platform tools. I also locked the bootloader again (which wipes the data). Perhaps it was overkill, but I'm anal about this sort of thing.

I'm confused about the above statement. On the Trade-In Instructions card that came with my kit, it says:
* If we confirm a lower value:
____* You'll get a reduced credit if you opted to pre-accept a change in value
____* You'll get your phone back if you opted not to pre-accept a change in value

Am I missing something?

That's the same exact way I reset mine.
Yea I read the same thing in my kit but on the site it didn't offer that option. At least not in the project fi site. I'm unaware of it was the same on the play store. I've read on other forums with people having the same question. Some say the option was there and then removed.
On a reddit post about someone asking what happens if they decide to return their pixel 2,if they could get their phone back. They recorded this reply "In case if you cancel your Pixel order, and as you've already sent the device, we'd give you a Store credit equivalent to the estimate value or the post-inspection value"
Someone replied to me saying Google wasn't in charge of the trade-in program but rather a 3rd party company named Apto and Hyla
https://store.google.com/intl/en-US_us/about/device-trade-in.html
Customer service just replied to me too saying the best they can do is give me a $35 credit. This is some bs

See if you can talk to an actual person on the phone, rather than rely on email.
Wow that is some BS. I sent my Pixel XL last week and according to them they have not received it. If they pull that BS I would return my phone for a refund. IDC I will resurrect my Nexus 6.

Didn't trade in a phone for a while, but I do the same thing if I sell or trade in.
if all else fails you can try to small claims them. A judge may not look kindly on there we offer your X but you have to take what we give your no mater what policy. And they may just fold as soon as you process server them since sending a director or Vp to small claims over a few hundred bucks may not be worth wild. Lawyers generally are not allowed and when they are many judges look down on them.
Did you perhaps flash the device to restore it instead of resetting it from the menu? Fastboot flash won't override the activation lock. You would have to go back through the setup and type in your Gmail to unlock it.

I was thinking that, looking through the trade-in terms though it states that in order to file a claim through small claims court or arbitration it has to be done in Santa Clara County, California. I would spend more money traveling there than I would get back

The only time I used fastboot was to lock the bootloader again. After that I went through activation (skipping the options that require a data connection) to check that all the settings were back to factory settings, after which I factory reset it through the system settings as described in the trade-in kit instructions

This is very disappointing to hear. I factory reset my Pixel just like they asked and I have not gotten assessed yet. I also asked the same question and will find out the answer.
I sent in my Pixel for a $350 trade in. I also returned my Pixel 2 due to the ongoing problems that have been reported and the buzzing noise. I was told that I would get store credit for my trade in since I returned the Pixel 2.

This is just my own speculation, however; I suspect the OP may have had the phone trigger the FRP when it was started up.
If you send in your phone you should check and make sure it does not prompt the password on your own gmail account. I intentionally removed all accounts then wiped the phone and restarted it, made sure it did not prompt the FRP, then reset again. The reason why Google has you reset like they said is b/c it removes all the accounts prior (you are already in if you are doing this).
If you just reset via hardware keys it will trigger the FRP. I know b/c I tried it.
okay.. I'm worried after seeing this message. I mailed in my original mint condition pixel on Oct 21 and until now, I still have not received any notification regarding the value of the phone. Is it me only that I felt Google's service is getting worse every year?

Just an FYI - I received my confirmation of trade today and received what I was promised. I sent the device in on the 22nd of October so just short of a 10 day turnaround. They said I keyed it as a Verizon pixel xl and it was an "other", but gave full trade promise of $400 . It was noted that it was factory reset and free of damage.

I just received my confirmation today and they gave me the full amount. Same thing they said I put in Verizon pixel instead of "other", but they still gave me full trade in amount of $350.00. The trade in was sent to Atlanta receiving center on Oct 21 and it took about 9 business days for them to finish the process.
