Phone keeps shutting down - HTC Sensation

I am on firmware 3.33 viper ROM and my phone randomly shuts down. It happens with almost every ROM and I can't figure out why. It just recently started doing this. Then when I take the battery out to reset it the battery drops from say 66% to 5%

Try and see if your battery is loose , if it's wiggling at all put some paper in the bottom to stabilize it this should do the trick if its a loose battery . Hope this helps
Also perhaps you need a new battery.

Wow, great advice, it worked for me too! I was thinking it was a rom issue but it makes perfect sense. I just shoved a strip of thin cardboard (business card thickness) vertically under the battery and the connection seems better, I'll test it out to make sure.

device rebooting and freezing

im running ordroid 9.0.0 and i get this freak error my device reboot many times and dont stop until i remove the battery and i hate it cuz its reboot during a phone call or when browsing ive done so many thing to prevent this problem but no use any help ???
ps.ive done full wipe thing and dont tell me to reflash it cuz ive already dont it
Very strange that never happened to me while running ordroid . However I just had it happen to me ruining Aokp. I also needed to pull battery for it to boot. Strange because ordroid never gave me any problems like that! I wish I had the answer. IM going to strat maintence rebooting my device daily and see if that helps. Its reconvened we do that anyway. I wish I had a clear answer for you but all I know is my device just did the exact same thing with aokp rom. Hopefully we can get some answers. best of luck to you. Mine only did it once and its not a continuing continuing thing like yours. I hope you get the issue resolved. I'll be watching the thread for answers. Good luck!

Some people noted a battery problem which might cause similar effect. Either a problem with the battery itself, or it is not sitting right in its socket, somewhat loose.
What battery are you on btw?

Check to see if your battery is lose and if it is this is your issue. This can be fixed by putting a small piece of paper onthe battery area to stabilized it. This is not my issue but it could be your s . If the battery wiggles chances are thats the problem.

Phone shutdown unexpectedly

Please guys I need help. My phone was running smoothly with no issues before. Then I finished surfing the net after that the phone keeps on shutting down at a setting interval when am in the middle something or not. I have done some things I know to bring it back to its proper working conditions but still, no improvement and I have restored to the original backup system software because I was running on custom rom before the incident and it still happening.

Tried another battery, ejecting your sd and SIM cards or if the shut down happens with a charger plugged in? If yes then do a super wipe, flash fresh firmware and ROM then test before restoring anything, check all MD5 before flashing.
If it still shuts down with fresh everything then maybe a hardware fault, return to stock and do a warranty repair.

Try THIS fix. Maybe your battery is loose
I have not tried a new battery I will do that and see what happens next. Because I also suspect the battery, I was having 87% battery life when the phone shutdown unexpectedly and I powered it on again the battery became 13%, I think the battery is the culprit here. I will try what you said and see.

Strange of the battery to go down so fast. Yes you should probably try another battery
Ad he said try different battery . My mugen battery was behaving like that then my device turned black and I couldn't boot, no charge light was detected! I switched batteries back to Anker now my device is running fine. Strange because the mugen was a new battery but sometimes this happens. So yes definitely try another battery.

Yeah!!! You guys are great I appreciate the ideas you guys contributed. What I did is I scratch the surface of the battery and attached a small piece of paper on the back of the battery to enable it stay firmly in the housing. Since then it has not shut down and the battery is even lasting longer now. I am still observing it and I will bring a feedback later.

maybe your battery it is not in a good condition
or it is not fit properly with the connectors
check it
maybe the kernel? the kernel can do this

sometimes yes
you can flash other one
I had this problem. It turned out to be the battery (I bought an Anker), but I managed to fix it by putting a piece of paper between the phone and the battery so it gets pushed against the connectors.
ok. ill try to put paper and see if it works. i presume its battery since i allready flashed another kernel

[Q] Restart Sensation problem

Hi guys i bought htc sensation from a guy and firstly i didnt noticed problem, after decoded it i got some problems.
My Sensation started restarting from itself ,but its not restarting only while charging from PC other type of charge doesn't work, means restart starts.
Does anybody know anything about it guys, can somebody help please?
That sounds like a battery problem to me.
Seems like battery connection is loose
Try to wedge a paper to the opposite of the battery pins... To make tight contact of battery pins.. That should solve the problem

Moonraker issue.

So I tried the Moonraker Rom yesterday, was awesome IMO. I just had one issue, when I would reboot my phone it would register my battery as dead and shut off before reaching the UI. But if I plugged it in, turned it on, then unplugged it it would read the correct percentage and stay that way until reboot. Is there a fix for this floating around? Kinda reminds me of the depressing "iOS x.x.xx tethered jb" days lol. Thanks in advance

Yes, no, maybe so? I'm currently using "dr no v3.0" and its great. Smooth, reliable, fast. But I would really like to experiment with the moonraker rom, just don't want to deal with the battery issue, am I the only one having it?

No fix that I'm aware of

Pretty sure it was a log issue. I cleared battery logs with a recalibrator and it didn't happen anymore.
