Yes... my question was a few old xda threads state something about specific digi's for some models. Wanted to make sure if this was still true because cannot find new info on it.

HTC Sensation Glass Digitizer Replacement Repair

I bought a Sensation 4G recently with a cracked screen and I replaced the digitizer. It went great, and having my first screen replacement done, I'm not so nearly intimidated by the process anymore. I bought from chinaphoneaccessories on eBay and it came with the tools, two screen protectors and the 3M double sided tape to affix the digitizer. I used 3 YouTube videos as a reference. One video said to use eye protection, and sure enough I had one unexpected shard of glass pop up out at me when removing the glass. Now I use the Sensation instead of a G1.

htc Desire part remplacement

hello
could you please give me a ebay adress to find this Desire part ? (on the picture).
i don't find anywhere this metal part, and i make a little stripe on this part...
thank's
Don't think you are going to dinf just a front cover for it mate, why not buy a gel cover which will cover it and also protect your phone.
But if that doesnt work I think your best bet is to buy a faulty one and see if you can sap the fronts.

Haven't seen any Desire parts show up on eBay yet, but eventually they will.
There are some Desire dummy phones on eBay. Typically they are made of the same materials of the real phones... but I don't know if they use the real phone's replacement part though (probably not).
thank you all. I think i'll send my phone to HTC customers services...
Hi, I have the same problem, have you solved? What have you done?
Thanks in advance.
I just saw the front housing on Ebay

Desire S Screen Scratched

Today I noticed a 2 inch scratch on my screen and deep enough to just get your nail in
Has anybody any ideas of what can be used to safely remove this or is it the case of a new screen
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
Maaaaybe silvo (the finer version of brasso), use this with extreme caution though, your could ruin your screen further! Or even a camera lens scratch repair kit?
1. screen repair kit (~ 10$)
2. replace it (~60$) http://www.parts4repair.com/products/HTC-Desire-S--LCD-Screen.html
Does the screen scratch easily on Desire S?

Gorilla glass is very tough when it comes to scratching it with sharp objects, but you can easily scratch it with dust...
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
ok as an experianced user i willl tell you this..
the glass is very tough.. but it can scratch very easily with some material.. i managed to scratch mine on the beach, by just one sand grain trapped inside the leather pouch case i have.. the scratch was so deep that my nail could be trapped in there!!!!
what you should not do when you scratch your screen
1. buy a digitizer from ebay..
all ebay digitizers are not original, they are fake, they will not be gorilla glass they will not be smooth to the touch etc..
changing just the digitizer is a very difficult thing to do. just one small dust particle cought between the LCD and the digitizer will show.. in adition there are some small plastics that help to give the light to the 4 buttons on the bottom, those plastics are glued to the digitizer, and are not supplied with the digitizers on ebay, so removing those and re gluing them to the new digitizer will end up with reduced brightness of the 4 buttons.
2. try to sand fix polish the digitizer.. will not work, or at least will end up in a worse looking screen
what you should do (and what i finally did - after doing all of the above that i shouldn't have done)
1. go to HTC and buy the LCD+digitizer combo..
it is sealed and glued together and costs here in Greece 114 euros.
if you want to do a 100% good job buy the middle chassis, this is not needed and i did not buy it (it costs another 30 euros) but it will make your job easier since it has all the double sided tape ready to use on it..
The only downside in buying parts from HTC directly is that they require you to give them your IMEI number, or receipt so they can cancel your warranty !!!!! just buying the part cancels it!!
but once you open up your phone you have already canceled it, it would be obvious that it has been opened
good luck, and if you need anything ask here i will be helping.. i disassembled my desire s more than 20 times
Desire S has no Gorilla glass on
Talked to HTC support many times asking if Desire S is equiped with Gorilla, and the answer was clear: Desire S does not have Gorilla...It uses Asahi glass.
Having scratched Desire S is understandable.

I never knew that! Most reviews state definitively that it has Gorilla Glass, but I guess that catchy name is now fairly "generic" for any kind of toughened glass (like many people say "hoover" when they mean vacuum cleaner).
Still, the Ashai glass looks as if it ought to have similar properties to the original Corning aluminosilicate "Gorilla Glass" :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpbOoQpwAFs&feature=player_embedded
Well there is one new glass made by Asahi called Dragontrail, which is a tough one. But us strongly doubt Desire S using this glass.
You can go ahead and ask HTC about the glass on their Desire S.

My desire S gets scratched really easily. It doesn't bother me much but it's still annoying. Not surprised to hear it doesn't really have gorilla glass. My old desire (class if you will ) didn't get any noticeable scratches and I'd had it for longer and treat it a lot worse. Kind of ridiculous that the screen strength seems to gone down hill even though the advertised strength seems to say it's better.
I wish HTC had an answer to this question why didn't they use Gorilla on Desire S and still charged us with a price of a high end phone?
It really sucks that I have to look through a screen guard and my friend has fun rubbing his key chain on his Samsung Galaxy S.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
Gorilla is just a brand name for Corning's proprietary brand of aluminosilicate toughened glass. It too can be damaged. Surely what matters is whether whatever HTC are using actually does the job (regardless of brand).
I can quite understand HTC using Ashai because it's probably cheaper.
I accidentally dropped my DS from a height on to a hard surface and it survived just fine Ordinary (soda) glass couldn't do that. Whatever they are using can't be too bad.
Are you using any protection on your screen? If not did you get any scratches on the glass?

Actually, it's still got the original screen protector on it.
I'm not suggesting that the glass HTC can't scratch, but rather that it's probably not really that much different to the original Gorilla glass.
Thinking about it - Didn't another poster note that the Corning site claimed they provided Gorilla Glass for the DS? Perhaps HTC changed supplier at some time?
Original screen protector? Desire S comes with bare glass out of the box. My phone had no screen guard out of box, neither does all unboxing videos on YouTube.

It appears that some of them do come with a protector fitted even in the factory sealed box. It seems that it's usually the unbranded / unlocked ones. This has been the subject of another thread. Mine was so perfectly fitted that I didn't realise it was fitted until I tried to put on a second one and it all went horribly wrong
This is strange. Mine is an unbranded, made in Taiwan, black one. I am using a screen protector which was applied by myself. My phone came to me with no screen protector pre-applied on.
Could HTC be using different kinds of glass on one phone?!

Unless your talking about that giant piece of protection that it comes wrapped with inside the box, I'm calling you out as a liar. Either that or someone had pre-applied a screen protector for you, because no HTC handset comes with a screen protector applied at the factory level.

That's a pretty retarded reason, "Oh I'm going to grab my key chain and try and scratch my phone" -_-" .. As I said in the other thread, its "scratch resistant", not "scratch proof", show me where HTC said it wouldn't scratch or bawwwwww more.
Sometimes it's really annoying, what are you wanting, if you really want to scratch it, you make it for sure.
Guys it's still a smartphone, no Swiss knife.
I got mine since 6 months without screen protector and I got no scratches at all.
I just got a wallet like it's recommended for EVERY smartphone and sometimes I put it in my pocket (in the same where my keys are) without the wallet for a short period and still nothing.
Sometimes it can be scratched by accident for sure, but at other phones it's the same.
So don't blame it on the phone if you got bad luck or not much brain.
Swyped from my HTC Desire S
Nobody actually tries scratching their phone. What we are asking is why didn't HTC use gorilla on Desire S? Desire S meant to be an improvement for classic Desire but it actually is reduced in glass quality.

HTC Support: Desire S has no Gorilla Glass!

Talked to the HTC support department many times asking if Desire S is equipped with Gorilla and their answer was clear all the times: Desire S has no Gorilla glass on.
You might ask what kind of glass is on our Desire S? I asked the same question from HTC support and the answer was: Asahi Glass.
Please share your experience with the glass on Desire S; do you use any protection? if not, did you managed to scratch it?

Seems the same as Gorilla Glass.

My Desire S screen gets scratched very easily, I've got on that is pretty deep. My old [classic] desire seemed to have a stronger screen. Don't remember any deep scratches on that, just small ones that I pretty much didn't notice.
It really sucks to have to see through a screen guard...I wish HTC had put more though in it.

Scratch resistant, not scratch proof. -_-" (Look at any wrist watch, it will say water resistant, not water proof).
I've accidentally thrown a padlock onto the screen of my phone (with a screen protector on it), it had a chip on the screen protector, but the screen was pristine when I took off the screen protector and applied a new one.
It does have Gorilla! As previously stated the "proof" is here: http://www.corninggorillaglass.com/products-with-gorilla/htc
@hamedunix: Ask again and show them that link. Thier answer should be intressting. Either that person on the support has wrong or the manufactuer of Gorilla Glass is lying...
I asked corning about this and they said you have to talk to your phone manufacturer.

The plot thickens.
Over the first two to three weeks fine scratches started to develop on my phone's display which were visible under a certain angle. I use a screen protector now for convenience.
I'm startin to think some of them have Gorilla glass and others don't. LIke the way they build quality issues at one point. Because I had one and within 2 weeks I saw two scratches, I managed to get it swapped in store, I've had the second one for about 3 months now, don't use a cover, and there isn't a single scratch or mark whatsoever.

I believe that is very likely.
I work in the electronics industry and there is tremendous focus on component cost. If Ashai glass is cheaper at the time and deemed "good enough to do the job" then they will buy a batch of that.

Instead of trusting a 3rd party website, go ahead and ask HTC who made the phone.

Just smash your phone screen with a hammer. If it breaks, it's not Gorilla. If it survives, it is.
Even if your phone breaks, at least you will have solved the mystery 100%
After 6 months with no protection, no scratch. How do you guys handle and keep your Desire S?
No you see, if YOU say the Desire S hasn't got Gorilla Glass it's up to YOU to prove it.
We already have the Gorilla Glass webpage showing the Desire S HAS Gorilla Glass, you however have shown no proof at all.
I've kept my DS in the same pocket as my lighter and keys for over a month now and it still looks completely new, not a single scratch anywhere.
My proof is HTC support; I asked them and the answer was Asahi glass.

[Q] Desire S digitizer

I am looking for HTC Desire S digitizer replacement, because mine is pretty scratched from previous owner. Of course I will buy it from ebay, but I am wondering am I looking for right digitizer?
For example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Touch-S...ultDomain_0&hash=item27bc37a0c0#ht_3927wt_952
Digitizers list: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trk...tpos=&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14.l1513&gbr=1&_pgn=1
Will this one fit for me perfectly? I am little confused, because looking for my phone ebay shows me digitizers for HTC Desire S S510E G12, and so far I know that's dual card chinese copy...

it should be ok. But i'm always wary of stuff that comes from Hong Kong (no offence to anyone and yes i understand most of the cheap stuff from UK sellers is the same thing)
Also this one seems better because the tools are free with it: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DIGITIZER-T...939?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a19160cf3
And you can forget Gorilla Glass , you will get cheap plastic digitizer...

the actual glass and the digitizer are two different things. So if it's just the digitizer, that's fine

If i'm correct it usually works like this: lcd--gorilla glass--digitizer and they're all glued together.
If you follow a tutorial such as this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaawEVWZvG4 you should be good.
I think Gorilla glass is what you touching wit you fingers (scratch protection for digitizer) and front glass with digitizer is in one part as in picture posted before. So if you buy cheap china touch screen - you will get digitizer with plastic on top. As I said - you can forget Gorilla Glass front lens.
R.
Dont mean to jump on someone else's thread but didnt see the point of making a new one. im getting a lot of ghosting/ image bleed. would it be a digitizer replacement i need? if so is it easy to replace and could i use my existing glass as it is in really good nick.

[Q] htc inspire digitizer

I just bought a htc inspire 4g with a cracked digitizer from ebay for 76$
the thing is,I live in Romania, and we don't have inspire 4g here so I can't find a replacement for the screen
but I can find digitizers for the Desire HD around 25$
but would the digitizer be compatible 100%?
i need to be sure
thanks
Most likely not. If you were able to find the inspire on eBay there is no reason why you can't find the digitizer for it there as well.

that's why I asked this
cause some of the items names were like htc desire " hd/inspire 4g difitizer "
someone who knows for sure pelase answer
I recently purchased a digitizer for my inspire from ebay(I live in America, not sure if there is any difference in Ebays). It said desire HD/Inspire 4g (same phones built for different markets). Unfortunately when I got it the connector wire was cut too short, so make sure you read user reviews better than I did. I ended up buying both the screen and the digitizer together after that since in my frustration I broke my old LCD screen.
If you do end up switching out the screen be careful it is easy to mess up and keep the screws separated from each other because they aren't interchangeable.
I'd like to know the answer to this as well. I just bought and replaced the lcd/digi for my phone. Went to start it up and the digitizer wouldn't recognize my finger. Thank god for androidscreencast or I would have been screwed until the new phone showed up. (Ended up just buying a new Inspire)
Anyways, it would be nice to know if they sent me a faulty unit or if the digitizer isn't compatible.
graresf.... if you do go forth on this swap out, be careful. It really is easy to mess things up on this phone. Horror stories are all over the comments of videos on youtube that show how to do it.
Oh... and when it shows you separating the frame from the screen. Be careful not to mess that plastic trim peice up that is attached to the frame. I did and now you can see a silver rim around the edge of the screen and things dont mesh up quite as nicely as they used to...
same thing
The inspire4g is just a variant of the htc desire series! now the desire HD and the inspire4g are the same phone (hd)europe (4g)america. i just replaced my digitizer via eBay and yes the sellers item description said "Htc desireHd,Inspire4g digitizer replacement. but you also need the adhesive and don't forget about the light tubes on the old digitizer or your utility buttons on the bottom will NOT glow. good luck.. have patience!
