I'm constantly "stealing" ideas and applications from the Diamond Thread as theres a huge amount of development going on there and most of its good to go for our Pro's.....
but this one is absolutely essential to anyone who has accidentally made a call in their pocket, or answered a call etc - Its perfect and I wanted to share in case you hadnt seen it!
All credit goes to ZuinigeRijder and he definately has my thanks for sharing his hard work
Heres the thread link for the cab file and details......

Thanks for the credits and great that it works perfectly for you.
I added to the StylusLock description how to go to sleep immediately, by just pressing the Power Button and inserting the Stylus. But maybe you did know this already.
Thanks ZuinigeRijder, this was answer to all my locking needs!
For GPS purposes, it would be nice to have option to lock/unlock with lets say long keypress (home, back, answer, hangup -key), since its bit tricky on my mount to take out stylus for unlocking.
But anyway, this is best so far. I also love your idea to keep app simple and low resource eater.
(I will post duplicate of this to Diamond side also).

Nice thread
I think will be good to include what ROM you have tested this software from Diamond. This will give us a really good info...
Cheers
So every time you want to make or answer a call you have to remove the stylest?.. Is that right?

No - Every time you want to un-lock the phone with the lock enabled you have to remove the stylus? To re-lock just insert the stylus? You can switch the "software" on and off for when you want it enabled or dissabled?
To me EN4CER69 this is a bit of a "Doh...!!!!" type question? If you didnt have to un-lock before making or answering a call - then the phone wouldnt be locked now would it????? Sigh.....

Been a long day m8... Mushyy
While the software is promising I am not sure how convenient it is to pull the stylus in and out before you can answer a phone call. See the video above for the app in action
I'll have a ponder..

For me its definately worth the effort having in the recent past called people when I shouldnt (pocket called) while talking either about them, or about things I shouldnt - or both, as well as having answered calls by accident in my pocket with the same embarassing results.....
I've been using the sofware for a few days now and have already got used to it..... I'll leave you to "ponder" ......

Stylus Lock
I have trailled Stylus Lock for a few days now.
It took a bit of getting used to, mainly due to the lack of on screen notification of the lock state.
My main gripe is that the power button was disabled in the lock state. This forces me to use the 'Turn off Device' in the Power settings, set to something like 40 seconds. Not a major problem, but I would like to be able to manually switch off the power as soon as I return the stylus and lock the device. Does that make sense?
Once more thing - I realise that this is called 'Stylus Lock' and I think that function is great. However, I think a simple pattern of keying the hardware keys as an unlock method would be a great addition.
That would solve the problem of not having to take the stylus out just to read an SMS or answer a call.
So what I'm saying is that this application is great. It is stable and worked as designed.
Just 3 comments
1. Do not like the Power Button being disabled. No chance for immediate power off when locked.
2. Screen Notification
3. Alternative Unlock using a pattern of key presses.
Thanks

You can do it like this.
While Stylus Lock enabled you are done with your tasks and want to put device in sleep mode and locked - Press power button and then insert stylus. Device goes to sleep and you feel lock vibration notify. To wake up device, simply pull out stylus and it unlocks also.

StylusLock
Youtube video StylusLock in action on wmpoweruser.com. Note that this video is version 1.1. New version 1.2 has a StylusLock indicator and only vibrates now when locked or Stylus LockMode is enabled. This saves a bit battery.
Version 1.2.1
* Found the problem why the icon was disappearing. So now I do not need to redo the locked icon each 55 seconds No CPU usage again.
* Apply the lock icon immediately AFTER it is really locked
* Remove the lock icon immediately AFTER it is really unlocked
* I had a lockup of the TD today (with version 1.2), so I do not hope this version is buggy
* Added the missing sources (forgot to put under source control
Version 1.2
* Added StylusLock indicator when locked. Works for TouchFlo3D screen as well as other Today screens.
* Because the StylusLock indicator is now visible if locked, it no longer vibrates when unlocked (saves extra battery)
* Kept StylusLock as simple and small as possible (only 1Kb in memory) and does still consume no CPU (check with TaskManager!!).
* v1.2 is even a bit smaller then v1.1, although the StylusLock indicator has been added.
Version 1.1
When the stylus is put inside it will only vibrate if "stylus Lock mode" gets enabled and/or the phone is getting locked. If there is no vibration, you know the phone is not locked and "stylus Lock mode" is disabled. Added source code.

1. Just push the Power button to go to sleep, before inserting the Stylus.
2. This is added in version 1.2.1
3. Although the TouchPanel and Hardware keys are locked, still the hardware buttons area is sensitive. So I am looking into another lock/unlock method in addition to the Stylus.......but be patient......

Thanks again for the hard work ZuinigeRijder 1.2.1 has been working well for the last few days..... great work.

Basically having seen the top 10 thread I thought that a thread where users reccomend just one app with a brief reason why.I will start
APP:Handcent sms
REASON:Fantastic app for messaging.Works better than the stock app for me.Also very customisable.Regular updates also and never experienced any issues of any kind.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
APP: Contact Widget ABC Dialer Light
REASON: Good app for quick dial, solves the slow dialing problem but for only 6 free contacts, if you want 12 you have to pay. Only bad thing is you HAVE to have a photo of a contact to dial them and you can't customize looks of the widget yet, it's white and non transparrent.
WEATHER=Palmary weather app
download from palmary's site its the best and only weather app you'll need
I can't live without SuperDial. It runs circles around the stock SE dialer. I can't believe SE would put so much time and effort into customization and then completely ignore the stock dialer. Searching your contacts is overly complicated and even when you do finally get to the contact you want, it's like 17 clicks to even dial the number.
Yeah....SuperDial all the way. Best of all, it's free.
As a side note, there appear to be 2 different apps called SuperDial now. The one from episode6 is the correct one.
i think its time people get the "Goto" app -although it aint free-
its a lockscreen replacement app..
1) allows you to place any name you want on the top bar
2) includes date/time/weather temp -although im not having no luck with weather temp.-
3) ability to change phone volume from loud to vibrate to silent without even havin to unlock!
4) the swipe itself is like a swipometer.. you have messages, then call logs, then gmail and finally unlock..
5) Ability to change background image - although could do with being able to customize other features!
only saw SE swipes twice.. so far!
1st - when someone rang my phone whilst it was in lock mode.. swipe needed to answer
2nd - when i put passcode on, i thought id test just pressing the back key instead of entering my code.. and lo and behold the SE swipe showed up! lol.. i really find these as minor issues..
although i dont think this was meant to happen im actually glad it did lol basically when the lockscreen shows, if u keep hold of the home button, it shows the 6 previously used apps which you can go to without the need to unlock although once you back out of the app you chose to view, your back to the lockscreen again lol
for those who are bit off about the whole unlocking and then passcode thing, i just tried a quick test now and i can say when this phone is in lock mode, you can jus press home key and draw ya passcode and your then taken to homescreen also holding home key doesnt show previously used apps here so no worries about anyone bypassing security!
wasnt meant to be a huge review lol but though id cover most of the points so it makes it easier for people to decide!!
Hope it helps!!!
:::Edit:::
all buttons cause screen to power up during lock mode!
Ive attached a screenshot of my X10i lockscreen..
Uninstaller
reason: Uninstall stuff.
from where can I get the goto APP Search on the market but I didn't found it
goto
i found it and purchased it from android usa market... love it works great but all buttons cause screen to power up
Had to add that bit to my review.. guess its not really a good sign is it :-(

Have you tried ThaiDial?
I found it to be better but superdialer is still way better than the one we were given with the phone. I didnt like how in superdialer when someone called me it would show their number with a 1 in front of it and then list it differently as the contact in my phone book
Hey Everyone,
I upgraded to Android 1.6 and rooted my phone.
All is working fine.
(I added the apps better keyboard and slide keyboard) days ago.
I JUST noticed that the default dialpad is missing the letters under the numbers that means if I have to spell a name using the dialpad I can't since I ONLY see numbers now.
Can someone shed some light on this?
How do I turn back on the T9 keyboard??? I think that's what I need to do, not sure.
The phone is an LG EVE.
THANKS!
How Do I delete this thread?
I turned off the better keyboard and now the dialer keypad shows the letters.
Strange...

Most forums do not let you edit the title hence I did not look for that low tech solution

1) Not sure what you mean by this exactly, just start pressing keys?
2) No, when you press home button applications don't close, they're left running, you do not have to worry about closing applications on gingerbread, use the Back button to exit applications rather than the home button if you want to close them.
3) the battery only needs formatting after installing/flashing new ROMS. To re-calibrate battery you need to be root.
4) you can get this by installing/flashing any of the custom ROMs which contain Sense v3.0 components (including the messaging apk), LBC MOD ROM has this.
To add to ben's response to number 4, if you don't have root, the third party sms app called Handcent is very good and can be configured to look like the iphone speech bubble text string. It has loads of options.

thx a lot guys
at no 1 i was referring at the fact that when u want to dial a phone no. u press the button "Phone" from the main screen on the bar from the buttom of the screen.. and when i enter into phone i see my contacts twice.. one time from my phone and one time from my SIM card.. and it's kinda annoyng..
anyway thx a lot for answers
LE: can we install iGO on Android phones ?
I believe that you can use the view option in the people application to disable the viewing of sim contacts, although I personally only have google contacts and no sim or phone ones.

More questions from my noobiness , plz forgive me , but android is becoming a rather pain in the *** with some simple things.... it does all the complicated things well , but some things :O
Both my current issues pertain to issues when my phone starts
1. I coulndt get a decent wallpaper to fit my resolution , so i used PicSpeed to fit it to my screen.. works great , till the point when i restart my phone and the wallpaper goes back to cropped... i have to reset it every time
2. I downloaded GO keyboard and NumberPad as keyboard replacements... Both of them get disabled when I restart the phone , go everytime Settings---> Lang and keyboard----> Tick both---> select input method.
Since its not something i can fix by just launching an app at startup... is there any other way to execute these instructions on startup??
Using Motorola Fire XT 530/rooted
Its really strange someone saying android making headache..rooted your phone???
