[Q] What to buy, Xperia P, Sola, or Arc S? - General Questions and Answers

I'm planning to buy a new phone and considering between these 3.
The Sola and Arc s are selling at the same price in my area.
Not much different between these 2 to me, the Arc S looks a bit sleekier but the Sola is newer. Both have promised updates to 4.0 ICS (will there be JB?). The main difference to me is the processor. Sola's dual 1Ghz NovaThor vs 1.4Ghz Snapdragon of Arc S. Which is faster? I don't play heavy 3D games, but will need to open large (10-30MB) pdf files. The Sola has better internal storage (8GB) but the Arc S will come with a free 8GB microSD card if I buy it.
The P is about 30$ more from the previous 2, with better screen resolution and 1GB RAM over 512MB of the 2. I don't quite like the design, but it's not a problem. The drawbacks are the lack of microSD slot and poor battery.
My needs are of a casual user: calls, messages, some web browsing, document reading (as mentioned), normal games like angry birds or fruit ninja, watching music videos,...
So what should I choose? And was I missing anything? Thanks in advance.

Eh... anyone? I'm going to buy it soon, so any recommendation is appreciated.

I think the Arc S would be the best for you then. Sure dual core is better but even a single core with 1.4GHz should be enough. I'm personally not a fan of the newer Xperias - dunno why :/ What are you going to use - stock or custom ROM? Well it's mainly a matter of personal choice - just go into a shop (this is called a market research) and get your hands on both (arc s and sola). Use them for some time and decide which one suits you better They are both nice pieces of tech And remember that if you don't like it you can return it in a 7 day period - so no worries

if you read more often on your phone, I suggest you to pick the one with bigger screen size and bigger DPI (dots per inch ==> printed magazine has around 300dpi). bigger RAM may also help in this situation.
I own xperia Ray (single core 1 GHz, 512 RAM). I can open pdf file with 30MB size smoothly using adobe reader. But, in this case there aren't many images inside the file. it will get slower if I open a scanned magazine or other similar files.
the newer xperia phone may have bigger chance to get upcoming android updates from SONY (e.g. Jelly Bean).

Sola's battery is 1320... It is less than minimum...

i think u should buy the Arc S. 1.4Ghz should be enough.
- A bigger screen than Sola which will be great for documents and casual gaming..
- higher battery
- great design.

sola...................:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh: lvd that phone

[Q] Xperia GO or One V

I need to replace ma aged Milestone (OG Droid) and basically this two are the only choice I have (contract, gift etc)
I like the IP67 cert. on the GO and love the idea of dual core cpu, however I am worried about the screen res HVGA on 3.5", will I go blind from the pixel size? 165 ppi
I like the screen size on One V, the ICS and the unibody, but I am worried that it won't be much of an upgrade from my old phone (running at 1 Ghz on CM7). I was looking at some quadrant benchmarks and while it is faster, its not by much. However the 512mb ram would be a huge upgrade to me (milestone locked BL, no swap apps shutdown).
As far as I can tell, they both have decent 5mp cameras and shoot nice 720p videos.
Need advice.

Xperia J

Okay guys! I have a feeling to change from My Galsxy Ace to new Sony Xperia J... very stylished & slim, sharp phone...so can u people tell me is it a good move?? & how is your xperiance about xperia J?? Battery life good??
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app
Nice choice... Sony Xperia J is a nice mobile phone because it comes with 4.0.4 android operating system, 4 inch screen display, 5 mega pixel camera, 1 GHz processor, 512GB RAM, 3G and 1750 mAh battery capacity which is superb so you dont think about battery of this mobile. You can read all details here:
themobileindian.com/handset-guide/details/Sony-Xperia-J
J's stylish design caught my eyes. But yikes.... it only comes with 512MB RAM which is the same as Xperia Ray I'm having now.
In fact, its specs are all the same with Ray (aside from the fact that it's newer CPU) except bigger screen and battery.
So, my guess is that you'll experience slight lag on normal use and heavy lag if you're running a lot of widgets and apps simultaneously. (after all, what can you get with that budget?)
Just my two cents, but it's definitely the best phone available out there for that price tag.

Yeah....hope so....the most interesting thing about J is it is stylish & slim & the touch controls....i am fed up with Galaxy Ace now...it become very slow & battery drains fast......previously i had a normal crush on xperia neo v & a very big crush on Xperia ray....but sadly it changed because sony erricsson isnt there anymore...actually ilove the J with its all features....but no idea about how will be its batterylife.... & i have idea on galaxy s2 or apple 4 or 4s

You dont think about batterylife of Xperia J because it has 1750 mAh battery capacity which is very good.
My friend have it.
IMO xperia J has teh good battery life, but main disadvantage is sometimes its so lag.
I dont know why, but its should be Ok.
xperia j have good specification enough to beat galaxy ace... i thng u dont need to compare it
The Xperia J's design is indeed really attractive and though it isn't as fast as newer phones, it's pretty snappy to me. One big downside to it is its internal memory though! If you're a shutter bug like me, you'll find yourself filling that internal memory really quickly.

[Q] Xperia S or Galaxy SII - Gaming

Which one is better for gaming?
Xperia S or Galaxy SII
(I was searching on Google, no results)
they both have the exact same SoC.
It all boils down to which phone design do you like better, and if you like to have a removable storage and battery, though they both have usb OTG.
As for the screen, the xperia S 720 is good. For the SGS2 depending on which version, 4.3 vs 4.55 but both at a lower resolution.
I'd choose the Xperia S
I decided, Xperia S...
I want to play Vice City, but will it work on ICS or only on GB?
I heard that it has some problems with Adreno 220...
Also, will Minecraft PE work on it?

id say samsung galay sII
Galaxy SII 4 sure :good:
Just tell me which phone has better perfomance in gaming. I don't like fanboys, you know!!!
Definitely the s2, as it has nearly half of the pixels to work with and a better supported gpu plus Better community, the Xperia s is better for multimedia in general... If you only care about gaming and have an higher budget I would suggest you an iOS (ip4s)product as they have far better gpu(wich is The most important thing for gaming) and better and more games...
Sent from my iPhone 5 using Tapatalk
I decided, Xperia S is winner.
1. - PlayStation Certified
2. - HDMI
3. - Big internal storage
4. - Side buttons
iOS? Nope, I don't have 10 million dollars
This can be locked...
yep xperia s is better sexier design, better camera and its newer
and with play station certification, it can be beat for gaming.
plus it bootloader like all xperias is easy to unlock

Best small phone... Really small (smaller than 3.5")

I have an LG Nitro HD. I like it fine, but I have been wanting another device to play around with. I will be getting a Samsung Galaxy S4 eventually, so I'd like my tinkering device to be something other than a large screen. I would love something that has a really small screen, but not a really crappy device.
Most things that I look at have had single core, 800 MHZ (or worse) CPU's. I think what I am going to end up with will be the Sony Ericson Xperia mini Pro. It has 1 GHZ Scorpion processor, 512 MB of RAM, and supports USB-OTG which is all pretty cool. http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_xperia_mini-3947.php
Does anyone have any experience with this phone? Does anyone know of a phone that is better or smaller? Also, does anyone know of any other cool, unique android devices?
I think u wont find any devices below 4' with decent enough hardware by today's standard. Either its big with full blown hardware or small but crappy and limited hardware. Yeah its sucks with current trend of bigger is better. Phone 4' and below is still much, much easier to handle with one hand than those humongous giants.

Currently using xperia mini pro and its a nice little phone. no complaints so far.
---------- Post added at 03:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:48 AM ----------
i would strongly recommend the Xperia Mini Pro. U wont regret it.
Sorry to bump thread but it's #1 forum link for "best small phone" on google
I have a htc wildfire s on android 2.3.6, as it only has 512mb rom so it can't do 4.x
Really smooth, lasts 2 days / charge (with cheap ebay battery).Glass touchscreen. Rarely notice which pocket it's in...
Also worth mention, my Desire C.
Can handle 4.x, yet no open wifi driver, works, but kinda "hacky" when not on stock rom. cheap touchscreen made of plastic. Aldo really small, but a bit longer. Battery can last 3 days.
Both phones can be bought used for under 100$.
Still waiting, I'd be willing to pay 400$ on a 720p 3.5" with a dual 1ghz, 1gb ram, that lasts 2 days on a charge, in the wildfire's size !

[Q] Xperia z3 upgrade worth it ?

hi,
I own an Xperia TX and was thinking of upgrading to the latest Xperia phone but I still haven't made up my mind.
For me the TX is a good phone but slow. Flicking through apps is not as quick as I would like and I was wondering is the Z3 much quicker ? The screen I have is 720p and is good enough for me but I do like 1080p on my laptop. Lastly the thing that gets me is the battery on the TX, I use the phone a lot for video and browsing and I barely scrap though a day, minding my use is a chore. Would the upgrade be much of a boost ?

Quad Code 2.5GHz
+ 3GB RAM on Snapdragon 801
means
Faster Browsing
Smoother Gaming
and improvement in all aspects
+ High density FHD Display
+ Stereo Speakers & NC
and ...
all these means do it upgrade to Z3 :good:
Went from Z2 to Z3. Upgrade is not phenomenal, but in my opinion, worth it.
Yeah the Z2 is only out 6 months. My Xperia TX is kinda slow... was the Z2 ever slow when you had lots of apps running and jumping from one to the next ?
My Xperia TX is :
Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8260A - Dual core, 1500 MHz, Krait
1024 MB RAM
720 x 1280 pixels - 319 ppi

Go for the upgrade. there's more than enough of new things in the Z3 compared to the TX. You'll love the phone.
The biggest thing for general snappiness is RAM. The difference between 1Gb and 2Gb is night and day
2Gb to 3Gb is not gonna be quite so dramatic so (from a memory perspective) I wouldn't think Z2 to Z3 would feel all that different but since the TX is only 1Gb, you'll definitely notice the difference if you upgrade.

Sounds like a computer. I do like my TX, it does everything I want it to do but I could never pick the phone up and do exactly what I wanted to do in my head - I would have to wait till it unclogs itself from whatever is in memory.
Do you think 3GB is enough ? I use a lot of YouTube, Twitter, Chrome, email app, and its never done with updates.
Hell yeah, 3Gb is a ****load of ram for a phone. My PC is only running 4Gb and it's not even very old.
My Nexus 5 is 2Gb and I never see any lag or hesitation at all. It's blazing. It is running vanilla android but even if the Xperia overlay is a memory hog (which there is no evidence to suggest it is) 3Gb will be plenty.
I just checked out my phone company and they are already offering the Xperia Z3 Compact for €459.99. The only thing is that they don't do colours and its black only. I was looking for white, damn.
I own a IPOD Touch 32GB and I take it out with me when I'm cycling. The only thing is that it is not waterproof and its never done switching itself on and off again(kinda broke?). I wonder if you could bring the Xperia Z3 Compact out on a cycle. I have an arm band for running with the Ipod Touch, not sure if I could bring Z3c out running either ? If so I could dump my IPod Touch and instead just buy a bit SDCard.
