Hi,
I am very new to this forum, I have been using Galaxy i9003 for little over a year and never had any issue. I recently upgraded to the latest firmware available via Kies and after this was done, the option and back button on the phone don;t work anymore.
Phone Details:
Firmware: 2.3.6
Baseband ver: I9003DDLE1
Kernel ver: 2.6.35.7-CL1153545 [email protected]#1
Build No: GINGERBREAD.DDLF2
I am not sure what has gone wrong, can anyone help.
Regards,
Leejoh:
hi buddy.
a friend of mine also experienced same condition. a slight difference was that he was in firmware xxkpq that time. he sent his phone to samsung service center (luckily he was still in warranty) and said that his panel, if i remember correctly has to be changed, and so they did and solved his issue.
-however, you might want to try moving to another firmware as to confirm that the issue you are facing might be caused by the current firmware or, hardware issues. btw, nothing wrong in trying to be sure, nothing to lose too.
cheers,
i had the same problem . luckily there were still about 15 days warranty left when i had this problem so i got the screen+front panel replaced under warranty. its a known issue with i9003
Guys if after updating your firmware then softkeys doesn't work. Just wipe you cache and dalvik cache in recovery mode. Turn off phone then hold Volume up + power + menu button. Then wipe caches.

hi guys. i had upgraded to xxkpe from froyo about a month ago and the phone worked flawlessly. now i upgraded to xxkph and then xxkpm. on both i face kernel panic or the phone automatically shuts down and enters in a bootloop. usually occurs while i am not actively using the phone. and this happens less on the day of the flashing and more on the next day.. and i have to usually reflash on the third day. i am sorry to create a new discussion portal here as i posted for help everywhere but no one really helped. so this is for those who are facing problems like me as i read on several fora that people are facing these problems.
PLEASE help us guys. it's really impossible to use the phone trying to restart it every 10 minutes. please help.
also, i am usually on xxkpe or xxkph (rooted using cf root).. what is the procedure to rollback to the 19003ddxxxx version of froyo. i have downloaded it but i am not sure.
please reply to this post someone as many of us need your help.
thank you.
Please keep questions in the general/Q&A section. This isn't development related.

which cf root are you using?if you're overclocked, that's the problem. try going back to the original specs kernel first before downgrading to froyo...
Hi, thanks for the reply
1) what is 'original specs kernel"?
2) I had earlier gone from stock froyo->XXKPE->DXKP9 rooted/deodexed. Then i faced random bootloops (with factory reset). So yesterday i flashed XXKPE again (twice) and did factory reset/cache wipe. Things worked fine till today afternoon - gotten 3 kernel panics recently - not used anything apart from normal phone.
Any ideas on this ? How to go back to stock froyo (im from india) from XXKPE in case i need to go to samsung customer care ?

Download XKB3, flash using pit and then files. Afterwards flash DDKB2
any idea what could cause the random bootloops/restarts ?
a lot of people are facing this issue, as ive read on this forum and elsewhere; however, i cannot believe that firmware flashing could cause hardware failure.
after flashing to xxkpe, no bootloops - got 3 kernel panics - one of which was preceded by "USB storage removed unexpectedly". I formatted USB and SD card storage and no bootloops/kernel panics so far.
Hoping to get 2/3 days w/o bootloops/kernel panics. Running out of options though. Any ideas?
EDIT: other option would be to exchange for a new nexus s/galaxy s (shopkeeper won't know of the issues )

I had earlier applied CF-ROOT (using ganeshbiyer's thread) on DXKP9 but faced issues so did a FULL reflash to XXKPE but have since been facing issues.
Once a full reflash (using 4 files) is done, the earlier CF-root/deodex related changes are wiped out, right? im currently on xxkpe but facing numerous kernel panics (preceded by USB storage unexpectedly removed) and plan to go back to stock froyo.
please advise? Also, what is 'original specs kernel' ?

original specs is stock, overclocked is not stock. since you're not saying you used an overclocked kernel, then the other things that have been suggested would be best to try to fix your issue
guys it was a manufacturing defect. got it repaired on warranty! the motherboard and the LCD were replaced.
flashed to XXKPE the day i got my phone back. no such issue. it's been 3 months!

Hello,
i gave my phone to service 3 weeks ago because my Power Button doesnt worked anymore. Yesterday i got my Phone back and they said they changed Mainboard and i have a new IMEI. So since ive got it back i cant reflash ginger baseband which i had already on the Phone before i gave to service. Progress ends at 0% with EBL error.
Can anybody help me??
You could flash V21a (can be rooted) or V21b. They are both gingerbread ROMS:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1287236
It will probably invalidate your warranty though if your phone isn't a European open model.
Hmmm the same thing happened to me with the power button before christmas and they replaced the mainboard. I seem to remember also have the same problem flashing the baseband but i got it to work eventually. I cant remember exactly what i did but i think it had something to do with the drivers on my computer and that i had to start from scratch. It worked eventually so dont give up. Try reinstalling all the computer software and then try reflash.

I already went to the "[READ THIS] Got a Boot Loop? Don't post a New Thread!" and it didn't work for me.
Having a huge problem with my T-Mobile Galaxy S2. After going to the "Settings" and performing a "Factory Reset", my phone went into a boot loop and I cannot get into recovery mode by using the volume up + home + power method. I had Juggernaut ROM on the phone also.

how did you downgrade? my tmobile gs2 is also in a boot loop. just like yours.im clueless on what to do. i have the official ics update.
I had a boot loop on my galaxy s 2 .. out of nowhere didnt do anything.
It was too weird. I spent time reading lots of forums about this and saw different techniques.
What i did was i flashed back to 2.3.6. Did factory reset. then flashed back to ICS.
I think it happened because of some cache bull****. Just thought i should share.
So far every time I had this problem I had to wipe cache, dalvic and battery stats to stop having this problem.in case that doesn't work try to change firmware

Well i have searched many forums for solution of this problem. eventually i came to know that problems with wifi can be different in for different mobiles even if they are of same model. My problem is that when i try to turn on WIFI it shows error. I went into the advanced settings for wifi and MAC address was missing in there. I tried *#*#526#*#* code because in some forums they have told that it fixed their problem but didnot work for me. Detailed information is below.
The details for my mobile are as follows:
Model Number: GT-I9003
firmware version: 2.3.6
baseband version: i9003ddle1
kernal version: [email protected]#1
build number: gingerbread.ddlf2
the problem started after i got my phone rooted by one of my friend in order to unlock it.At first i was really happy because when i inserted the sim it recognized it i gave a call to my friend also. But soon one of my friend informed me that when ever he calls me the number is busy toned.I tried it then the problem was that the mobile wont ring and disconnect the phone on the first ring itself.then it was like if there was only problems with it.The home button was also not working. The icon for play store was also missing. And the main problem of all was that wifi wont turn on.
I took it to my friend he fixed every thing else i.e home button ,call problem, and now i can go into play store also.which reminds me that data network and blue tooth are working fine.do any body have a solution that might fix the problem. I have no idea what package did my friend use to rooted the device.
Android Device with out wifi is not that interesting to use
hope someone will come up with a solution..Thanks in advance.
Wrosun [newbie]LOL
I used to got this problem when i root my phone. I'm curious, who did your friend root it? Try ask him. This WiFi problem can be solved by using Bam Custom Kernel or flash a custom ROM. Bam Custom Kernel, link

Hello everybody!
There's something strange happening on my P5110. Here's the thing... when I use the tablet with one finger, everything moves as smooth as I expect... but when I try to use the pinch to zoom or just the multitouch (2 or more fingers) it may become less responsive and less smooth at the scrolling. The way to fix that is by shutting down the screen and turning it on again (I presume that it's a software issue). I use the stock 4.1.2 rom and I tried with factory reset and by searching the web, with no success. Any ideas?
I hope that someone could help me out with this issue.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Barktooth ,
I had the same problem with my P5110. I was on stock 4.03 DBT and after the update to 4.1.1 Btu I had the same issue with pinch zoom like you.
I tried everything .. flashing other stock versions, resetting and so on. But the problem stayed. Then i sent it to samsung. They reinstalled the stock 4.03 DBT version. But the Problem wasn't solved. I sent it again to samsung with a video to show them the issue. Now they solved the problem by changing the motherboard. I'm now on stock 4.03 with a new motherboard and without any issue. I think you have to send it to a samsung service center. Did the problem appear after flashing a stock rom?

Hi fredy66!
Thanks a lot for the answer. It was exactly the same for me. The issue appeared after flashing the 4.1.2 stock firmware... and is staying even if I flash another firmware or by hard resetting my device. I have far mor problems though... I don't know if there's any Samsung service center around my city and my warranty is gone. I'll try to find one.
Thanks again for the answer!... I thought it was a software issue... but now it is a hardware issue =(.

Hi Barktooth,
This is really strange. Maybe it's a software problem and the service center only couldn't solve it by flashing the normal stock firmware. It's possible that some p5110 needs a special driver because of a problem with the touch controller on some motherboards. Did you update the tablet with kies or by ota? I flashed my p5110 with odin. Have you tried cm? I'm now afraid of flashing again.

Hello fredy66!
I flashed the 4.1.2 stock firmware via odin too. I tried reflashing another version without luck. I'm gonna try with the 4.2.2 stock firmware and see if that solves the problem. It's really strange... I had a Galaxy S for a long time and flashed it like there was no tomorrow... nothing happened to that device... it works flawlessly even now. That's why I thought it was a software issue... but it seems that just a few of us had the bad luck =(.
I'll try the 4.2.2 and if it solves the problem, then I'll tell you through this topic
Thanks again for your time!
